Expected quality service and was severely disappointed. Attendant messed up our reservation for a boat by creating a reservation for 2:30a instead of 2:30p. Marina isn't even open at 2:30a. Our boat was given away and zero effort was made to remedy the egregious oversight by offering subpar jet skis (only offered 3 when we are a party of 4) in an attempt to "make it worth our money". Initial reservation setup was incredibly frustrating due to a lack of technological understanding of their own equipment. read more

This was a terrible experience. I found on Yelp that many others have had similar experiences. The staff was very rude, constantly yelling and making you feel like everything you did was stupid. Shockingly, they canceled our reservation within half an hour, claiming we broke their rules, and refused to refund any fees. They were more expensive than Big Bear Marina and Halloway Marina plus that it was BS that they charged me $40 parking then the parking lot was so packed it took over an hour to exit the parking lot. Do NOT rent from this place. Worst experience ever. We had to last minute cancel our reservation due to bad weather. It started pouring rain in the morning so therefore we were unable to go out. We drove down there to get our deposit back and talk to the manager. Thinking this would be common sense to get our money back due to the circumstances being out of our control. The girl at the front desk was very nice but when we asked for the manager he came up from the dock. When we asked for a refund due to weather he then proceed to get extremely confrontational and claimed we agreed to a contract we were never presented with. When we preceded to tell him we never received a contract he said giving them our credit card was a form of "signature" although they never stated that on the phone. He then told us the contract is pasted on the building (on the back side that nobody can see). The problem wasn't the money, we would have been fine with it but it was his demeanor that made the experience horrible. NEVER rent from this place please find somewhere else that is respectable. Rented a pontoon boat tat was very old and tired, should be retired. I paid full price but apparently I was not lucky enough to get one of the new boats that rented for the same price. Do not use the online rental system call and make sure they will guarantee you with the newer boats or don't rent from them. The older boat was in horrible condition had problem with the prop cavitating and tilter trimmed to solve the problem it was in such bad shape. It was almost a joke that they would take pictures of it to determine whether they might keep my deposit. To top it off after paying $273 for a two hour rental for a junkie old boat. I had to pay $20 for parking because apparently they don't have any control over the marina that they rent their boats from. The nice young lady in the rental office made a point a couple days earlier that they do not charge for gas unlike many of the other rental places. Do yourself a favor and pay for the gas and get a better boat somewhere else. These local scammers take advantage of tourists. This place must be getting hit hard and not taking care of their employees because they're pulling this scam. The guy showed me a paper that the boat was in good condition before we took off, but never showed me the prop. I signed it, thinking it better be good, I'm about to go on it with my family. Then when I returned it, they told me I bent the propeller. There is no way that happen because we were fishing at the dam in the middle. It's pretty deep there. If you use their run down boats make sure you take pictures of everything they show you before you sign anything, at the end they will try to blame you for their busted boats then up charge you, you can't do anything about it. It felt like I was getting scammed, They told me depending on the damage it could be $300-$450 but because the propeller was bent, $125. They already charge a lot for a boat that doesn't go over 5 mph, you can't know because the cluster (speedometer) is broken, it also has screws on the deck for you step on, and always feels like the gear is slipping from neutral to reverse and back to drive. I will never recommend this place. If you're looking at this place, be aware they pull these tactics. read more

Beware: you cannot swim off the boat. Yes, I'm serious...once you step on you can only step back off onto their dock. You do not find this out until you are there signing out the boat (i.e. committed, basically). I'm sorry but I feel like this should be made known beforehand. I looked around their website to make sure I didn't miss something and couldn't find that fact. Obviously hidden since boats/swimming kind of go together. Oh, and if you think you'll just beach the boat, think again...in their FAQ section, under "Can we park the pontoon on the beach?" the answer is "No, this is not allowed by Municipal Water District or Pine Knot Marina." Boats: in okay shape, lots of wear and tear but not a disaster. Personnel: dock workers pretty nice and helpful. Price: a 22 foot pontoon is $125 for 1 hr, $210 for 2, $330 for 4, etc. Slightly high I think. I don't know why you'd want to spend more than an hour out on the water you can't even swim in though. This review is for the service department .. TOP CLASS ALL AROUND GREAT GROUP OF SERVICE TECHNICIANS! I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE REPAIR SHOP FOR ANY BOAT REPAIRS . First day out on the lake from out of town and has over heating problem. Had to have the amazing patrol tow us in and go beyond and help load the bot on the trailer. Then found Pine Knot open with 30 min left. Rolled in a asked for help. I can't remember the two guys who helped me but knowing i was from out of town with a boat problem they IMMEDIATELY came out and literally jumped on my boat to diagnose. They informed me that they would look at the boat and see what the problem could be and let me know when it could be repaired. The one technician started removing parts to check and quickly found why my engine was over heating. Short story shorter they went over and beyond and out of there way to make sure they made sure that they handled. 100% AWESOME customer service! They could of easily told me that they were about to close and sent me on my way like other local shops told me over the phone.. I will definitely be coming back to serve up a thankful tip as I didn't have my wallet to pay for the repair at the time. Best around ! MAKE SURE TO USE THEM FOR ALL YOUR BOAT SERVICING NEEDS!!! As I'm writing this, their hours say that they close at 6pm. That's not true. I came up at 2:45 to rent a boat and the girl at the counter asked the manager or owner and then told me that they were closing early because it was dead. That's nice. I just drove an hour. I know its offseason, so if its offseason, then adjust your hours. I would have only given a 1 star, but the girl seemed surprised to see a customer, smiled and then said big bear marina was right up the road and still might be open. I did just that. They were open, had great customer service and was a better price and experience. So won't be coming back. Will just go to big bear marina instead. read more

In Big bear for the annual family vacation 20 of us we were in town for a week! We grew up coming here! The weather was amazing the views fantastic we rented green top number 10 from pine Knot Marina Boat rental tha was a mistake the boat we had was horrible the seat were all cracked the radio was broke and kept falling through the slot the whole wheel column is so ruff! Instead of doing whatever with the money they need to put it back into the repair of the boats for $400 a rental for a few hours and you can't jump in the water you can't park the boat and get off it it's just a mess! They definitely need to get these boats refurbished! Would i recommend the staff yes the dock hands were pretty great! But again for such a hefty price they definitely need to fix these boats read more

Terrible experience. Be aware of their scams. They will get you wherever they can. We rented 2 jet skis and they were decent enough. A little pricey but we were looking to have a good time so we committed to the $300 per jet ski for 2 hours on each. They also take you credit card for a security deposit. This is where they get you. We brought the jet skis back at the end of the 2 hours. They were having trouble getting another group on jet skis back to their dock as they could not maneuver the skis to the dock at all. So we patiently waited. We finally got the jet skis turned in and it was about 20 minutes after our return time as we were waiting our turn to check the jet skis back in. When we got back to their office they informed us that they would be charging an additional $350 per jet ski. Absolutely absurd. They said we were late returning the jet skis and that we rode past the area they allowed, which we did not. It's a large lake and impossible to monitor all of their jet skis and know who is on which jet ski. And that they charged us for being late because their staff couldn't get the other jet skis in and we had to patiently wait our turn. This place is only looking to run a scam on you any way they can. So they charged us $1,300 for 2 jet skis, 2 hours each. Complete rip-off and scam. I strongly discouraged anyone from using them. Burton read more

We took the kids liberty Paddle wheel boat tour on Memorial day weekend. Good price $25/ person plus fees. They even let us cancel a ticket last minute because my friend was too hungover to go. Haha. I really appreciated that. The tour was 90 min they sold chips beer & soda. I bought a water for $3. The captain was interesting. We sat in the cabin by the bathrooms and could hear the speakers well but couldn't make out most of what the captain was talking about. We could understand about 1 word out of every sentence. It was pretty funny trying to figure out what he was talking about. The tour takes you around the entire lake. The Paddle wheel doesn't really turn. We had a good time anyway. We didn't go up top because we wanted to stay out of the sun. There were plenty of open seats even though I think they were fully booked. read more

We rented a pontoon boat with a 50 hp outboard motor. The seats were upholstered and plentiful. The boat was clean and the engine ran well. The dock staff were friendly and explained the features of the boat and its operation very clearly. We had a great time on Big Bear Lake on this very comfortable boat. Parking is $10 but is very close to the dock so getting your party stuff to the boat is very easy. Our ice chest on wheels had no problem getting to the boat. The dock crew will drive the boat from the docking to the end of the pier for you so that maneuvering is very easy from there to get underway. read more

Rented a boat at Pine Knot Marina. $105 for four hours. It takes thirty minutes to get to the dam the recommended fishing area. So one hour of the four hour rental time is getting to and from the dam. We had a Fun day on the lake. Caught one. Had two bites that I didn't hook and land. The Pine Knot marina closes at 5:00. That is too early for the prime fish eating time. We found that the Halloran Marina which is only fifteen minutes from the dam stays open until 7:30. So you spend less time going to and from the dam. We will go there next time. And their boat rental fee is 1/4th cheaper as well. The Parasailing advertised wasn't available either. Another disappointment as that was why we rented the boat at Pine Knot. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I called to rent jet skis and I was directed from the voicemail to leave a text message, so I did. After not getting a reply for close to 3 days I found the main office number and was told the same thing(to text) I stated that I did and had gotten no reply. By the end of the day I got a phone call. The person on the phone stated the reason I didn't get a call was because I texted to much. I stated that I only text two times in my original text just because I forgot to add information and I stated that my 3rd text was because I had not heard anything. The girl on the phone said they were extremely busy and that they were practically sold out for the day I needed. They only had a block of two hours from 9am-11am, I told the girl if I wanted to rent I would get back to them. Fast forward to today. I received a single text saying " we are sold out" I replied, "ok, thank you" The person texting from the company proceeds to continue to text me and tell me the reason they didn't get back to me was due to my excessive texting(still only 3 text ever sent) I replied that they needed to get their customer service skills down and maybe answer the phone. They proceeded to text and be argumentative, I am not sure who runs this company but your customer service sucks. I wouldn't rent from this place if it was the only place. When you actually get to talk to someone they treat you like you are stupid. They tried to tell me the lake is not that big and there not much to do. I not only have family that lives in big bear I have been there multiple time on the lake. Do not use this company, if there customer service is like this before you rent I can only imagine if you actually do a transaction with them. We have kept our boat with them for year but this year they left our boats to the element, we're not able to complete simple repairs, delayed us weekly with repair promises (we finally took it else where to be fixed easily, and they left the registration off of the boat. We realize the place has changed hands and workers are hard to come by due to housing so we may be willing to try again. They do however need to make adjustments. read more

Turns out they gave our boat away and have nothing left, except a boat that has been giving them issues all day. With young kids we said we don't feel safe on a boat that they have already pulled from the water.. the guy at the front looked at me and said "it's not like it's going to blow up." $125 for a pontoon boat that seated 9 of us, for one hour. All the other marinas that were open had a 2 hour minimum fee. The attendant that showed us how to use the boat, and all the features the boat had was great. Didn't catch his name. The boat was a bit worn. Horn barely made a sound, radio didn't work, gas gauge didn't work (but he told us not to worry and that he had gassed it up that morning lol). Overall, we all had a blast cruising down the lake for an hour. I'd recommend this marina if you're only looking to rent a boat for an hour just to check out the lake. I booked the 8 hour pontoon boat a week prior for our trip last week. When we arrived at the dock in the morning and after paying the $446 and signing the paperwork,we were directed to a boat that left us "appalled." The boat was completely wet, with no prior effort made to prepare for a guest arrival. Perhaps just wiping the seats so we could comfortably sit without getting wet was something that I think should be expected. When we alerted some of the employees that the seats were completely wet, someone came over with one small rag which was hardly enough to do the job. So my guests and I used our own paper towels to dry all of the seats. It quickly became clear that the wet state of the boat wasn't because they'd cleaned it prior or hosed it down, but likely the morning dew. This was also evident because all four corners of the awning were covered in spider webs and a ton of spiders. Something else I cleaned myself with the paper towels that we brought. The cup holders were filthy as was the torn up leather (or whatever the material is) throughout the boat. I would've expected that for the money, someone would regularly and after each guest, wipe everything down with a spray of cleaning solution. There were dirty fingerprints everywhere. It was very clear that these boats are not even minimally cleaned between guests. Moreover the seats were torn to the extent that the filling was protruding out in many spots. The seating material was SO damaged that it actually adhered to my husband and sons shorts, likely ruining them. The worst however was the back "sun deck" area. It was shredded up, dirty, and absolutely disgusting! We were not even able to use this area! It also quickly became apparent that none of the dash gauges (gas, speed, etc.) were functioning and the radio was broken. A young man with a red shirt walked up and we asked....."this boat is in really bad shape, is it possible for us to get a different boat?" Many boats that we walked by were also very dirty with some torn leather, but nothing to the extent that this ours was (that sun deck was an eye sore and once again a space that we couldn't even use). The young man abruptly replied with ...." if you don't like that that one, I'm sure the office will be happy to just refund your money." We were SHOCKED by his response. We had guests with us from out of town, and an entire picnic of food and drink for the day! We were really trying to make it work, cleaning ourselves, etc. We just expected a tad bit of courtesy and customer service. I understand that most of these boats may be used for fishing, so the attention to cleanliness may not be a priority. But if that is the case, then this should be made clear upon reservations. It was so filthy we had to cover everything in towels just to feel comfortable. When I did finally book this the week prior, because it was a bit smaller than the competitors but $80 more expensive on average, I falsely expected (and hoped), that you would have one of the nicer fleets on the lake. Perhaps now I understand why I WAS able to book, when everyone else was sold out. I did bring this to the attention of management via email afterward. They acknowledged the condition of the boat and need for a new customer service policy yet only offered to discount a second trip by some phantom amount never offered. I would give zero stars if possible. From rude inconsiderate staff that can care less about your time, to the staff being completely clueless to what is going on. Tried to call for hours to make arrangements. left messages (per the request of the phone message) no one will call u back! When u arrive for a renting experienced or the fairy boat tour, u need to know for that boat tour there has to be 15 people or more. If not 15 people are on the tour for thAt selected hour, the boat cancels that tour. What kind of BS is that?? Then they promise to call u if 15 people are able to or not able To attend the next departure time. soooo u walk around for hours-and waiting for the call but guess what, they never call! We offered to buy out the balance for 15 people (we had 8 on our group) but nope they where not willing to take the money we wanted to spend to drive us around the lake. The guys in the boat repair at Pine Knot Marina were very friendly, super helpful and charged a fair price. We were back on the lake in no time due to their service. Staff acted like me trying to pay for a service was an inconvenience to them and kept huffing when I asked if we they had somewhere for our jet skis or if there was any beaches nearby. Ask them to order two small hinges for my windshield on an older glastron boat. I brought them the windshield and picked out the parts.when I came to pick up the windshield they had installed the hinges on the windshield which I had not asked him to do they also installed them incorrectly worst installation job I've ever seen. Then they charged me $ 82.00 for a pair of hinges installed that cost less than $10. I will never do business with them again I recommend no one to do business with them they are horrible read more

Normally pine knot is amazing. This past time was not sadly! I made reservations and I felt since I look young they sat us in crappy seat by loud music. I couldn't even enjoy a chat with a friend, who I haven't seen in ages. We made the best of it! Then our waitress was nice but she did not look or ask how the bill was going to split. She charged my friend the entire purchase and I had put a lot of cash in it. The food is delicious but the seating where they placed us was terrible. :/ read more

Before I began, I want to get the one good thing out of the way, The people in the White building by the entrance were great and the only reason that we gave this place a 1-star rating. I'm not sure of the ladies name but she took a message for the manager, a Mr. breshop I believe as she slurred her words a bit. We are still waiting for a response from him about our experience. We called for a few days trying to reserve a boat and were unsuccessful for 2 days! The gentlemen on the phone was unsure of or not caring about knowing the prices. "Umm Let me check." Seems to be a mantra at this place, and there will be more on that later. The actual process of reserving a boat is not that bad, but it seems like the employees are scared of being killed by the phones and wont answer them. We arrived at the place and quickly realized that maybe this place needs to hire more staff as there was trash in the parking spaces and no employees were visible until we reached the little shack that serves as the rental office after paying the $125 dollars for an hour, which we later found out that was a little amount of time since other marinas offer 2 hour rates and no 1 hours. The girl there was nice but lacked in knowing what was available but quickly got us out of the line and down to the boat. The walk there is pretty steep as the water level is so low, not something that they can control but it is worth mentioning to customers. The dock that served as a bridge to the rental dock was nice, but then it went to an unrepaired, damaged, and shoddily built wooden dock. This should have been a warning as once my party looked at the boats we realized that this place either doesn't have the money to buy new boats or the care to repair them. The boat we got had a side that was heavily damaged like something hit it and the railing on top was bent downwards. The gentleman did mark down the damage so we wouldn't be charged for it. The gas, speedometer, horn, and radio did not work. The dockhand told us about how "Those things were not important." When we asked to be transferred to a boat that had those things working the gentleman said "umm Let me check" before heading back to the rental office and returning to tell us that they didn't have any that worked but promised we wouldn't notice and how we are only renting the boat, not the radio and instruments on the pannel. For $125 dollars we should be renting everything that is built into the boat plus the boat, not just the badly damaged boat. We still went out but we didn't have the best time on this for what we paid for. Once we came back, we went to the restroom in the white building by the entrance since the nearest one was a portapotty that looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a while. This is where the friendly staff took that message we mentioned earlier. We do not recommend coming to rent from this place currently. Maybe if they clean up their act we will return but it is not worth the money and effort. read more
