Pine Room is obscure bar/restaurant in St Charles, many would call Hole in the Wall place. Less tacky pine decorations since they remodeled during Covid. Menu diverse for lunch or dinner & 6 of us loved all our choices. Chicken Teriyaki was great flavor & sides yummy. Salad fresh mix of greens l liked. Cuz got 2 huge Pork Chops grilled w mashed potatoes & veggie. He ate half & took rest home for later. Burger was raved about w hot fresh fries. Can't remember others choices but most of us took home leftovers & just as gud warmed up later as fresh from kitchen. Prices were reasonable especially for the large portions! Tiny little hole in the wall next to a laundromat in St Charles, MO. Mike was the server today. I had the lunch special of an open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and green beans. For a little place, the food was excellent. They even made sure there were no onions in my food due to allergies. $10 was certainly reasonable and the service was friendly. We arrived at 5pm trying to avoid crowds (due to covid 19 worries). Plenty of space to allow us to social distance from other diners. Our waiter who also bartender was very nice and attentive and was working hard for the early dinner time. We both got the ribeye special with 2 sides (10.99). They were served just as ordered and were great for the price. Drinks (vodka with lemon twist was a generous pour. We will definitely return. The bartender/ waiter was really a great guy. We were driving through town and came here on a whim based on Yelp reviews. What a great neighborhood bar/restaurant. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were great! Lucky for us it was steak night so the ribeye was on special. It was served sizzling on a plate. The food was great. We shared a couple sides and the beets were awesome. We also ordered the toasted ravioli which was done wonderfully. This place is tucked away but I can't recommend it enough. I'd probably visit frequently if I lived nearby. read more

Best Steak ever from the place you might least expect. Better than any steak house I've been to.

Although it was 83° outside there was no air conditioning and it was very hot and uncomfortable. I met three girlfriends there for dinner who were paying customers. Because of health issues I bring my own meals to restaurants so that I can still have a social interaction. I was told to leave because they don't allow outside food. I have done this for years at other restaurants with no problems. Does waitress was extremely rude and the whole situation was difficult and embarrassing. I won't ever go back to the pine room! I chose Stewed Tomatoes and Home Fries for my sides - both were delicious. My Husband had Baked Potato and Salad. Both were good! We did have a 15-20 minute wait, totally worth the wait!!! This is the kind of place where literally everyone knows your name or at least tries to. I went there on an offer from my future father in law and was not disappointed. If this place tried to be anything other than a neighborhood bar, then it would fail, but tucked away in the quiet streets of St. Charles, this place has found a home. When we walked in there was nobody else there but you wouldn't know it. Greeted and introduced and had our drinks before I even got warm from the walk. I'm a stranger there but the talk quickly turned to regulars and what they had been up to lately. We weren't doing food so the very modestly priced drinks shook off the cold and made for a great, albeit short visit. I can't say that this is gonna be a regular stop for me because I'm coming from the city, but I know that if I'm ever in the mood for a good drink and good company when I'm in St. Charles then I'll just head to the Pine Room. read more

This is a fun place and has great food. The staff is friendly. The Hamburger Steak is awesome (I call it a chop steak). Generous portions and the owner came by to talk with us. Absolutely awful experience. It took an hour from the time we entered till our food was served. My food tasted like it was under a heat lamp for a half hour. The sides were disgusting as was the main course. Half of my wife's meal never arrived and what came was over cooked. The Pine Room. It's small and quaint and dark. It's one of those bar restaurants that kind of reminds you of Cheers. Okay so here's the DL on The Pine Room. The fam and I decided to stop by here for a Friday night dinner. While the fam ordered burgers, I stepped out on the wild side and ordered the liver and onions. It comes with two side, so I opted for vegetable beef soup and home fries. The soup wasn't anything special. I'm going to assume that it was beef stock, some canned carrots, and potatoes. The down side to the soup was that is only had one piece of beef. I just happened to have pictured it. I was more impressed with the liver and onions and home fries. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. It have a great crust on it that tasted of pepper. The onions were perfectly cooked which complemented the liver perfectly. To top off the liver and onions, was a perfectly flavored brown gravy. I could have drank it by the cup full. But I held back for fear of embarrassing the fam (I've been known to do that in the past). The home fries were large cubed potatoes which were deep fried ( and we know everything tastes better fried) and seasoned perfectly with what seemed like pepper and salt and some other hidden spice Really there were two downsides to this place, one was the vegetable beef soup, the other was it was way too dark in the place. While I understand you want to set the ambience, the lack of light made me feel like were eating in a cave. Overall I found this place to be really nice and am willing to try it again and update my review. I would recommend trying it out but it's not high on my list. read more

Mushroom and SwIss burger was very large, cooked perfectly and had some tasty seasoning salt. For $6, I wasn't expecting it to be so good, but was happily surprised. Boyfriend had crappie (the fish crappie, not crappy) dinner with 2 sides for under $15. Portions were large. He liked the fish. I've never had that kind before so it wasn't my favorite, but I think I don't like freshwater fish too much. The seasoning was really good and it was cooked well. The cole slaw was creamy and slightly tart just how I like it. Mashed potatoes and gravy were fine. I thought maybe they'd be more chunky and possibly cheesy because this was a hometown type of bar / restaurant. They were creamy and smooth. Atmosphere was corner bar dive, no windows, TVs with blues game on. Was over half full but not too loud. I liked that a lot. Felt relaxed.
