So excited this place is permanently in Eureka now. Being a vegetarian over half my life, I'm always in search of a healthy, filling and delicious lunch. This tofu stirfry bowl hit the nail on the head. The restaurant was absolutely packed on a rainy afternoon which is awesome to see. My order came up fast and piping hot. Yum yum yum! I noticed the truck parked outside or heart of Humboldt dispensary! The ambiance was moderately crowded with hungry patrons. I had a delicious garlic chicken plate (spicy) with a side of Mac salad, and 2 sides of rice. The chicken was on a delicious and flavorful bed of cabbage slaw. They nailed the garlic chicken, it was crispy, hot, crunchy, sweet, and saucy. I was in umami heaven to say the least. The rice was the mild side that I think paired well with the sauce of the chicken which was more like a gravy for the rice. I also loved the mouthwatering mac salad--the creamy sweetness complimented the spicy chicken. Mixing and matching the sides and chicken was the best part! I really was grateful for the portion of my plate because I had plenty of left overs for dinner! The service was great and quick during the late lunch rush. The new restaurant on Myrtle Avenue is incredible. It's fresh and bright and such a great vibe inside. The staff is all very nice and the food comes out fairly quickly. Everything on the menu looks incredible. We ordered several different dishes and everything was a big portion (amazing) and absolutely delicious. With the islands in my blood, this made me do the happy (hula) dance! Garberville is a small town. Found the vibrant blue green truck pretty quickly, parked under the overhang of an abandoned gas station off the main road. Cute aloha menu, with specials written on a surfboard. Wasn't sure if this would be legit. But when I found out the owner is actually from Aiea Hawaii, and been trained under a master chef there, this gave me a lot of promise! Ordered these three: KALUA PIG- seasoned with Hawaiian sea salt and roasted in banana leaves, then shredded. Served with homemade bbq sauce. Two scoops of white or brown rice (gotta have it with white rice!) and iconic side of creamy macaroni salad! This is how you know it's legit... two scoops of rice, not one. And one scoop of Mac salad. Kalua pork tasted authentic!Exactly what I'd expect at my favorite spots on the islands, moist, tender and flavorful--authentic! Onolicious! GARLIC CHICKEN - marinated chicken pieces, lightly breaded and fried. Tossed with garlic sauce. Served on a bed of fresh shredded cabbage, two scoops of rice and green salad. Really good! ISLAND STYLE FISH & CHIPS - pieces of cod encrusted with panko and furikake flakes, fried to a golden brown, drizzled with chili aioli sauce. Served with a side of furikake cheesy garlicky French fries. I really loved the fish! Tasty, nice light crust, adding the right amount of spicy punch with the chili aioli sauce. Wasn't crazy about the fries...by the time I got it back to the hotel, they were cold, had been sitting too long. My guess is they're put into the box before the frying of the fish. Cold fries are never good. Would have rather ordered this as a plate lunch, with warm fluffy rice and a green salad. I hope they will still be here next year when I visit again in Dec. (Was told they are usually here in summer and not usually winter, but stayed open a little longer than usual, last day Dec 16th, so I was happy I got to try them out! Next time the Shoyu chicken!!) Odd that they don't have any prices on any of their menus anywhere and you have to ask if you want to know before you buy. Food was interesting and I wanna give it another try, but we didn't like the 5 gallons of mayo sauce over the ahi, which defeats the purpose of my healthy choice. The fish is so fresh, just like in Hawaii. Seasoning were tasty. Won ton chips were a surprising treat. Then the Ahi Salad. Maybe the best Ahi I have ever had. The chef here knows her stuff. This salad had edamame, cabbage, seaweed and a delicious dressing. It was enough to take with us for dinner. Our only disappointment was they are limiting their menu currently and there was no Poke Bowl. And, they will be closed on our trip home again. Food is consistently decent. However service is always a hit or big miss. Sometimes there are two girls that are very cheery and match the vibe of the restaurant and the social media marketing. I tip well when they are at counter. And then sometimes you get Dominic, I made sure to get his name so it wouldn't be confused for someone else. He is so rude and unwelcoming. I actually don't tip when I get him because he is very snotty. Why anyone would want an attitude like that to represent their business I have no idea. He doesn't respond to questions and gives you a blank stare. He rolls his eyes if you ask for something special and he barely graces you with two words. One time my food waited ready for nearly 10 minutes before I asked it was mine and he said "uh ya". How am I supposed to know if it isn't communicated.
