I ordered the fried chicken sandwich It was delicious, a good level of spice and the crispness was perfect. I've had the grilled cheese and tomato soup, which I think about often. The quiche was good, but the iced mocha was definitely the standout for me. It had little bits of chocolate in it and was strong enough to keep me awake! The restaurant itself is very charming with trees and greenery used as decor. The only downside is that there are several different areas where you have to look for an open seat, which can be a little confusing when it's busy. The breakfast burrito was delicious and packed full (it was practically bursting open when it arrived). Adding an extra egg was definitely the move, for the protein goals :p. There are two locations, the one on the corner is a grab and go kinda place while the one next to it is a dine in restaurant. You order at the counter and once you order you'll be given a number. Find an open table and they'll come to you when your food is ready. I ordered the roasted veggie salad which is dairy free without any modifications. The dressing was a chimichurri sauce which was very fresh. The roasted veggies were sweet potatoes and portabella mushroom. The veggies were fantastic. I saw it on my map and then realized was right at the next block. Nice. My buddy who lives in the City also was ready to tear into something and agreed The Grove was a good choice. I had the Classic French Dip and the SF Company Presidio Pilsner. I love a French Dip and their version of it was fantastic. There was something special about their Montreal seasoning that makes me crve it more than what is considered reasonable. My buddy at the Hot Pastrami and that is something I will get the next time I am there. He too had the Pilsner. That beer is such a good complement with those classic sandwiches. Came here previously and enjoyed some hot & smoky wings with my very art-and-food enthusiast friend after visiting SFMOMA nearby. I think we both had iced teas, too. My friend recommended the Grove and it was so good, my group and I came back twice during our recent trip to SF! The service is WONDERFUL! I don't remember the name of the man that was making sure the line was moving quickly but he has a great personality. There wasn't a wait at all with the way he had the line moving. This restaurant is a bit different because you order first and then find a table for yourself/group. There is plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs so that was a plus. Over the two days we went there for brunch we ordered the benedict plate, breakfast sandwich, pastrami sandwich, breakfast burrito, grilled cheese, watermelon lemonade and cardamom coffee. I looked up places to chill and relax after my traveling day - and this place was top on my list! Live music, good food, and a cozy restaurant walking distance from my hotel with no wait time? The service was so good too - right when we walked in, there was a friendly gentleman who greeted my mom and I, and helped us look through the menu and find a seat near the live band (but not too close so we could hear each other during a convo and catch up!). There was so many wonderful selections of food to choose from - my mom went with the roast chicken apple salad (added those strawberries for free!) and I went with the Berkeley salad bowl! We mixed and matched our dishes actually -- so the candied walnuts paired great with my Berkeley bowl, and the avocado from mine worked wonderfully with her roast chicken apple salad. My mom commented that the apples paired so perfectly with her salad. The live music was amazing and the performers were great!! I've passed by this place for years and finally stopped in and gave it a try for breakfast. Very happy I did. Very elective decor. I believe the theme they are going for is "living room". Every ingredient in the breakfast burrito - eggs, potatoes, black beans, rice was well seasoned and well cooked. Cozy, casual, unassuming spot in Yerba Buena that I finally tried! The inside is actually quite spacious with an entire second floor loft and connected bar area with even more seating. While it was bustling for the weekend brunch rush, it wasn't difficult at all to find a table to seat ourselves. This is more of a casual spot where you order at the counter. There was a line when we walked in but it moves fast and they provide paper menus to peruse while waiting. Service was exceptionally quick and everyone was very nice. We got the breakfast sandwich and burrito to try. The portions were huge but I wasn't too surprised considering the cost of the meal - $55 before tip. Everything was tasty and fresh, I would highly recommend! The portions are so large that I would consider splitting one next time. My favorite thing about The Grove is its cabin-style interior. This place was recommended to us and we were warned to get there early. We went on a Saturday around 10:30. Seating is first come first serve after you order at the counter. They have someone at the door helping explain their system. The place was packed and people constantly waiting for tables to clear and jumping on them before they get cleaned off.this would be a rough place for a group larger than 4. We ordered 2 breakfast burritos and 2 bloody Mary's. Bloody Mary's weren't that strong and had a bit of an overwhelming flavor of horseradish. The breakfast burrito was a very generous portion. I decided to try chicken for the protein. Luckily I cut the burrito in half and noticed undercooked chicken. I picked some of it out and thought maybe it was one piece but I found an almost raw piece of chicken. The kitchen did offer to make me another meal. I got a bacon burrito instead. Yelp just wasted my time with a notification stating something to the effect of "The Grove is trending, get in on it!" No; ma'am! The only reason this place should be "trending" is because of their mediocrity. My boyfriend met a friend for midday mid-work-week lunch and brought me home a VERY disappointing reuben sandwich. I understand something fresh is always best, but a reuben should be even better after sitting for an hour+ to let the flavors marinate ;P If you check my sandwich reviews, there will be many for pastrami/reubens (RIP Turner's Kitchen *sob*) and I can easily go back to the first I ever had (RIP Miller's *more sobs*). I also happen to be Irish, so there's a deep love for pastrami's cousin, Corned Beef. The sandwich I ate from The Grove is a sorry excuse for a reuben. Full stop. I can't imagine it was an off day. I can imagine this spot takes advantage of their location and serves up mid food at high prices because people visiting for conferences or getting lunch on the company dime will always go for convenience and drinks over anything else (The Grove does have a week day happy hour). I'll consider giving The Grove a try in future if it's a spot someone else wants to meet at and every other option is too crowded. Otherwise, the sandwich was so meh and way overpriced (such a small amount of meat) , this will be a one and done for me as are too many other restaurants in our glorious city to visit. The toast came as a large piece of bread cut in half and smothered with a generous avocado mixture. Yummy! The lavender lemonade was more like a pink lemonade, with little lavender taste.
