One being a Grandfather clock so it's not exactly move able. Called Boyd's and scheduled Jarrod for an evaluation visit. He showed up on time and inspected and evaluated all three clocks. Two were OK and just required some lubricant but the 40 year old grandfather clock needed a new movement. Jarrod located a new movement and gave us a very reasonable quote that included the new movement, installation and set up. Less than two weeks later the new movement was in and Jerrod came by the same day to do the install. About 1 hour later the new movement was expertly installed and running and chiming like it was brand new. So what an amazing experience with Boyd's Clocks. I took in a wedding ring crown that has 5 diamonds on it since I had lost one of the diamonds. Upon bringing it in, Josh let me know they could fix it and was already bagging it up without even giving a quote. I then asked for a quote since I'd gotten one from the original maker of the ring. I had let him know the quote he gave which was $390-425 was higher than what they quoted. But ultimately decided I'd rather have it fixed locally than send it out since I didn't want to wait (which I voiced verbally). He took a closer look and said they could do it for $425. I said okay because after shipping costs, it would only be ~$40 more than sending it to the maker. He said okay, and that he'd pick out the diamond today and I'd have it back the following week. 2 full weeks went by before it was ready so I was already a bit annoyed since that was likely the same turn around if I mailed it to the maker! But then when I went to pick it up, the price was $595+tax. I asked why the price difference (and refreshed his memory on our convo at drop off) and he just said okay we can do it for $495. So not only did it take just as long, but in the end after tax I spent over $100 more than what I would have spent if I sent it to the maker.

My excitement level increased and I ask if it's for sale? The mantra is now uttered "NO NO NO" ! However something new that day happened and was shared by sales representative, I was actually told if you spend a $1,000,000 in jewelry it should be no issue to get that watch..... Now I was stunned by this statement so much I said are you serious and the person said YES! Well, that seems excessive and ridiculous and no I didn't drop a million to acquire the timepiece. I'll never forgot the arrogance of staff member of Alvin Goldfarb Jewelry and defiantly will not purchase anything from them. OK, now this is the happy ending of the story. I did manage to acquire The Celebration dial by Rolex elsewhere so I have that going for me. And on January 1st 2025 the BIG HAND OF THE CROWN aka ROLEX laid the smack down on ALVIN GOLDFARB & pulled authorized dealership away from store. No longer can they sell ROLEX.... KARMA saw the bad business practices by using Rolex watches to lure you into buying unwanted jewelry or non Rolex branded watches you don't want in order to maybe purchase a Rolex. My bf went to Prestige Jewelry to get my diamond ring set. Because of the terrible job, he then took it to Eddie's to get it fixed. The second time the diamond did look more centered, but there's still a huge gap between the prong and the diamond. After we dropped the ring off, Prestige messaged us saying that the initial job was actually done through Eddie's, who they contract with. When I spoke to the jeweler who set my diamond, he admitted the diamond was set crooked the first time, but said he couldn't fix the gaps because the little diamonds on the prongs would fall out. I don't understand why anyone would touch fine jewelry if they can't do the job -- do a crappy job, and then hand it back to the customer -- instead of being honest upfront and saying, "this is going to be the outcome, do you still want to proceed?" That way, the customer can make the choice before their diamond and ring get messed with. On top of that, he told me, "if this semi-mount was customized to the ring then we could do it." It IS customized -- here are the measurements on the diamond reporting and CAD. Still, he insisted that if they touched it again, the small diamonds would fall out. He kept repeating that the diamonds would fall out -- but that's just an excuse. I even attached photos of a marquise diamond ring set in the exact same semi-mount from the same vendor -- little diamonds on the prongs and all -- and as you can see, it was set beautifully with no gaps. Clearly, it can be done properly if the jeweler has the skills. If they had been upfront from the beginning and we went to a jeweler who actually knew what they were doing, we wouldn't now be trying to find someone else to fix this mess -- all while we're trying to get engaged with this ring. Please don't go to Prestige Jewelry or Eddie's.

I called to see what they would do for me and they said the only thing they could do is I would have to fly back there and they could fix it again. I would think there's a lot of other options maybe like refunding me, but maybe they need that money.
