Our first time coming here. We tried their food at my nephew's grad party and it was good, especially the Pork Sisig!!! so we decided to try it out! Pork Sisig is so addicting bcus it's CRISPY-LICOUS and somehow I try & think of what I can put this on top of.. For example, wouldn't this be good on a Taco, how about some nachos, even an omelet?! The woman who helped me was very nice and kept calling me ma'am. I'm not Filipino but I love to eat Filipino food. I got the menudo, dinuguan, ube puto, and a bag of chicharrones. Menudo- tasted fine. I was a little taken back that there were slices of hot dogs. Nice veggie and meat ratio but the meat was bad quality. It was dry and hard to chew. Dinuguan- was too oily. The meat is half good mixed with cheap so those are dry and chewy. There was also some chunks of fat. The taste was there though. Ube puto- very pretty purple color but tasteless and it started getting moldy 2 days later. Chicharrones- tasteless and I had to make the vinegar dipping sauce. I love that there were nice pieces of meat attached to the skin. Unfortunately they were fried wrong and the meat was tough and chewy like beef jerky. The best chicharrones I've had are from Lech Go and Isla Restaurant (not the sauce though). read more

Came here all the way from the South Bay for their sisig. My husband wanted some laing and Bicol's express so we ordered some as well. The older lady who was serving us noticed that the Bicol's express was bubbling so she told us that she'll take it at the back kitchen "to be safe" (meaning it's either spoiled or about to spoil). We thanked her for letting us know about. She went in the kitchen, but never really told us if she will be taking out any new batch of Bicol's express in the front. The younger lady by the cashier started helping us and got our other orders ready. I kindly asked if there will still be any Bicol's express. She went in the back and to our surprise, she already had one ready for us right away in a container. My husband confirmed/asked if that's from a new batch as the spoiled batch got sent back in the kitchen, she told us yes, it's from a new batch. We, as trusting human beings, thanked her, paid for our stuff and headed straight home. Lo and behold, my husband unpacked our food and noticed that the Bicol's express overflowed from the container it came in and is still bubbling (see picture). Apparently, they still served or gave us the old/spoiled batch. Who does that? Why would you serve that kind of food to your customers that could potentially make them sick? It's just unbelievable, disappointing, and even infuriating . My husband called them up to explain what happened. Robert answered the phone and kindly apologized for what had happened and told my husband that we could come back at our own convenience and we could either get a refund or try another dish (same size container for what we ordered). Thank you for that Robert. We always recommend friends and family to come to this hole in the wall Filipino to-go restaurant whenever they're in the area...but will not be doing that for now. I hope this doesn't happen often or happen to anyone else. I also hope that this doesn't happen to us again as we only come here every so often because it's quite a distance...we try to support our fellow Filipino businesses, but quality of service is as important as the food you serve. read more

Pinoy Handaan Express seems to have replaced the earlier turo-turo steam table operation inside the Manila Oriental Market in Daly City. The counter on the left, inside the market has been renovated with a new steam table and menu boards so it looks pretty inviting. I decided to get a two item combo ($7.99) with garlic rice and beef kaldereta and chicken adobo. Unfortunately they did not have any chicken adobo so I took another beef dish that I think was beef mechado but I'm not sure. This is one of the few turo-turo places in Daly City that take card, so that was a welcome surprise. I got a decent serving of garlic rice and two generous scoops of the beef stews. Taste wise it was average. The carrots and potatoes in the beef stew were raw so I had to chuck them. The stew lacked proper seasoning and felt flat. The beef was cooked well and was not chewy and the garlic rice did not feel like it had been sitting for a long time. Price-wise it was in line with what you would pay at other turo-turo places in the area. Quality of food needs to improve looking at the intense competition in the area. I'll give them some more time to settle down and try them again at which time I'll update my review but my first visit was just A-OK. read more

Used to be okay and would have given 3 stars but the price increase is a real turn off. A lot of the food that they have such as the binagoongan, dinuguan, bicol express( soupy dishes) are all super oily and the meat is fatty. The sisig is basically just all pork skin and not much other meats or innards in it. Overall you are better off going to grill city or better yet go to ranch 99 and get the deli food inside if you want to fill yourself and stilll be affordable. if you want quality Filipino food please go to Isla in san bruno or even Max restaurant if you are feeling lazy read more

I have ordered twice from them and I am happy with my decision. I ordered bistek Tagalog so far my favorite tray to order from them. It has been so popular among my family and friends and especially my husband. And I LOVE their bbq chicken skewers. The sales people have been super kind and sweet. The only reason why I have 4 stars was because I did not like the chicken adobo as much. been a shopper at manila oriental for years and never really took any notice of this spot as a food option until yesterday. memories of this location or past vendors having that nasty chinese food that was offered as a free option from all the manila oriental coupons probably tainted my image of what kind of food can be served up at a grocery store. after days of thanksgiving repetitive leftovers, we were craving for some filipino food and looking for a spot close to home. a few options came to mind and i luckily stumbled upon pinoy handaan on yelp as the next closest option to manila express. pinoy handaan is food vendor located at the front of manila oriental and they mainly feature turo turo style serving for convenience covering your staple filipino food along with some baked desserts like star bread. this particular day we were craving some filipino fried breakfast goodness. opted for some bangus(bansilog) which came with steam rice, 2 eggs and several pieces of vinegar/garlic marinated fried milkfish. i also ordered a 3 item combo of beefsteak, sisig and sweet and sour fish along with pancit. all the food was excellent with the standout being the sisig, which wasnt oily, had a nice crunchy texture from the pork rinds and just the right mix of onion and peppers. the pancit reminded me of my mom's cooking also. price was very reasonable also for the serving size. we will be patronizing this place for sure in the future when we're lazy to cook up some food at home. the one downer was they didnt have any tocino and it would be about 30 min wait for another batch to be made. for breakfast/lunch time when silog breakfast is in demand, you gotta have some back-up meat ready to serve up. read more
