The pizza is good. Not okay. Not great. But closer to okay. Flat crust with a bit of chew to it. Well put together. Seasoned nicely. Beyond that, not much good to say. I thought this would be a better place to grab a drink and a lunch bite, but it was neither of those things. This visit makes me doubt it would do much better as a dinner destination either. The drink selection is a handful of very macro beers (and the always bad Peroni), a wine list, and a handful of cocktails. The wine list is a house red and house white (as in: that's all they're identified as on the menu) and then several $9 glasses that are referred to only by their grape varietal. No year, no maker, no anything. Yikes. The cocktail I went for was a Caiproska. They have three or four of these on the menu, each with its own fruit. I had never heard of this before, but further research says that it's fruit muddled with sugar topped with vodka and soda. What I got was a glass of undisolved granulated sugar, pineapple detritus, and vodka/soda. It was not pleasant. There's no lunch or slice special. So I ended up having to order an entire 12" pizza to eat by myself. If you sell pizza and are open for lunch, don't make people buy a whole pizza. That's dumb. I don't want to eat a 12" pizza and then go back to work. The actual space was small and sad. It looked like they had given up on really getting the place clean years ago. The bar (which took up a huge footprint for the terrible selection they offered), blocks out almost all of the natural light from the place's only window. The person who seemed like the manager was very kind and attentive. They seemed to be covering for my server, who never even offered me water, never bothered to take my food order, and was absent once he had dropped off my drink order. There was a larger party there, but it was one of maybe four tables that were occupied. The location has decent but not great parking for a strip center this far outside the loop. All in all, a pretty disappointing 30 dollar lunch (again, a whole pizza for $15 plus a bad cocktail plus tip). Not only will I not be back to this location, this experience has changed my mind about wanting to visit the one in midtown. This place is no better than MOD, but without the customer-friendly menu. Cookie cutter restaurant with no oversight or investment in what they do. read more

My first time here. I saw the Louisiana street location and liked the ambiance, so I finally decided to try this place instead of our usual, California Pizza kitchen. I will say, for the price, I'm not sure it's worth it. The portion size is okay, and you won't be hungry, but you certainly won't leave feeling satisfied. I ordered the Margarita pizza and my husband ordered the lasagna. I liked the lasagna but the pizza was bland and did not taste like a margarita pizza, unimpressed. We came on a Friday night, the place was not empty, but not busy too. It took 10 minutes for our order to be taken, and we did not have a consistent server. No one came to check on us, and it took forever for our check to be taken as well. Meanwhile, the many servers just spent their time talking to coworkers. For $38, I think you can do better and spend your money elsewhere so you can at least be full. read more

We've dined at the Midtown location many times. This was our first visit to the Voss location. Picked it due to convenience for the other family that was meeting us for dinner. The hostess was the waitress.. literally no one else to help her on the dining floor on a Thursday night! It was painful. So glad to have Piola in the neighborhood! First time diner, started with caprese with burrata which was light and creamy and delicious. Dined on the 29th of the month and took part in the gnocchi special which was unlimited small servings of 12 different sauces and gnocchi. It was a fun way to try the many delicious pasta sauces. Gnocchi was excellent. My dad had the papardelle bolognese which was equally as delicious! Rounded the meal off with the profiteroles and highly recommend doing the same! Piola has several specials throughout the week like 1/2 price bottles of wine on Wednesday and I look forward to going back. read more

Fantastic pizza!!! We were greeted and told to seat wherever we wished. It seems like a family dining place and we sat near the kitchen area. We ordered what was essentially a meat lovers pizza because of the recommendation of our waiter as well as the caprese. So. Good. Highly recommend the caprese! Checked out this new restaurant. Thursdays they have ladies night and wine is free. The beers are expensive fro Stella draft $6 each. We tried the profiteroles which were good but the filling is with ice cream not custard cream. We tried 2 pizzas the Como for $16.95 and the rio de Janeiro for $15.95. The pizzas are a little expensive considering that they are a thinner crust. The toppings are fancier but I think I actually like Mod pizza better for thinner crust pizza. I tried the rio de Janeiro which comes with a Brazilian cheese. It's like a soft cheese and it's like plopped on too thick so that you need to spread it around. I would like that it would have been placed less clumpy. read more

Piola was absolutely delicious! I was skeptical about getting smoked salmon on my pizza... BUT I think this was the best pizza I've ever had! The baked Brie, cream sauce, and smoked salmon on a crispy pizza was the best idea ever! The chicken parmigiana was a huge portion. Thank goodness, bc it was so good with the spaghetti! We heard great things about Piola so were excited to try it. I must say we were quite disappointed. The GF pizza was lacking of presentation and taste. The rest of the food (gnochi and salad) weren't bad, but they weren't great either. The garlic knots bread sounded great, and at $8 i expected a decent amount -- however, the bread didn't have much taste and there was very little of it in the bad. Disappointing. For the price, we've had much better homemade pasta at other places. It's too bad - it's close to us but i don't think we will be a repeat. read more

Do not go to this place, simply awful costumer service! I like Piola, specially the pizzas, but I'd avoid this location at all costs. Just drive to the Midtown location (never had any issues there). If you're looking to have a good time with friends/family or even just by yourself, and if you value respect as a costumer, just steer clear of this place. I went out with a group of friends, we were having a good time (despite the constant cleaning around our table to let us know they were about to close). Our server brought separate checks and each of us placed our cards and gave them back to him. He brings them back and leaves all 8 checks stacked on the table. We pass them around ourselves - 18% gratuity is already included - while we continue with the lively conversation. The server is very nice and takes a group picture. We make our way out, thanking the staff, and stop just outside the door to chat a little more before each of us heads our separated ways. Suddenly, the server comes and politely asks one of my friends if she kept the signed (merchant) copy by mistake. She looks for it and only has the receipt. He goes back inside and returns saying they can't find her signed copy, that they probably didn't swipe her card at all. She's a little intrigued (so am I, listening to their conversation while the group makes plans for the next meet up), but doesn't hesitate in handing him her card AGAIN (obviously trying to make sure that they'll return the amount if charged twice), then follows him inside to sign it. She comes back out astonished that this other man (apparently the owner, he did not introduce himself) accused her of trying to leave without paying. I'm appalled, and as I look at him through the glass door, jaw dropped, he looks back at me and imitates my expression of surprise, mocking me, waving angrily "saying" that she didn't want to pay. Wow. Just WOW! I had to go inside and face him, I could not believe how disrespectful he was, utterly inappropriate. But he didn't stop. He kept accusing my friend of deliberately trying to leave without paying (she spent like $20), even though we were all standing right outside their door!! According to him, everybody - all nationalities, even Brazilians (the whole group is Brazilian) - know that you must sign the merchant copy. Well, not really, but anyway... then he said she's never even handed them her card. Well, wouldn't they have noticed when they took all of the checks and then brought them to be signed? Mistakes happen, and the server was polite and solved the issue. What this man did was unnecessary, prejudicial and arrogant. A woman, who later said she's also the owner, tried to apologize when she realized how the situation had escalated and we said we'd write a review about the matter. She seemed to be truly sorry for the way he treated us, but apparently they're partners, so he's probably going to still be there tomorrow. Anyway, Houston has a multitude of amazing restaurants, with 5 star service and products, so there's no reason to waste your time, money and good vibes in a place like this. Not worth it! read more

I thought it should have been thicker for the price they charge but it still tasted great & filled me up so I can't complain too much. The issue was they weren't very prompt with our order (although we called in way ahead before going to pick everything up), the name they had on the order was wrong/made no sense (which made things confusing), and there was no silverware or complements (Parmesan/red pepper) in the bag. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. The owner and Manager of this place were very rude and disrespectful. My friend ordered a dish and didn't like when she got it and couldn't eat it. She asked if she can get something else, the Manager had an attitude and asked if she wants to take it home because they cant resell it.( she couldn't eat it at the restaurant why would she take it) They made her another one and when we got the bill they have charged the dish and took a small discount of it at the end. When I asked why they did that the wife of owner answered who is going to pay for it? You want me to pay for it? I said but u took it back it was returned she said well I cant sell it and who is going to pay for it!!!! And went on and on with being very insulting to us. This was the worst experience by far.
