These people are notorious con artists. They screwed us on bum appliance purchases almost a decade ago that they found a way to not honor the warranty on (in the first 6 months). Now we're homeowners renting our place, and they manage maintenance for our property mgmt company. Every. Single. Issue we've had, they've sent a tech out that said we needed to replace the entire appliance. Or that it will take hundreds (HUNDREDS) of dollars to fix. Every. Single. Time. We have gotten a second opinion and given reasonable quotes and prompt repairs for minor issues. SCREW Pioneer. They're an Austin legend, for all the wrong reasons. If I could give Pioneer Appliance 1000 stars I would. I have never worked with a company who has better customer service and who cares more about their customer than Pioneer! Long story short my fridge has been out of service for a year. Yes...a whole year of walking out to the garage to get necessities. We tried time and time again to fix it with no avail. We went through 3 companies before finding Pioneer. Ann made sure that our fridge was repaired. She sent two incredibly knowledgeable tech's to the house and never stopped helping us. You guys, I have 6 beautiful ice cubes and icy cold beverages and it hasn't even been 24 hours since it was repaired I'm crying all the happy tears. THANK YOU ANN & PIONEER APPLIANCE TEAM!!! I was so happy to have found this place. They were friendly and easy to work with however we had issues with our fridge from day 1. They honored them over 3 visits and 3 weeks until I was told we needed run a separate circuit for it to work properly. Between their three repairs and my needing an electrician to come look the warranty period expired. After my electrician said this was an issue with the fridge, they sent their repair man out to look at it. He agreed the fridge had a short in it. Now they will not honor the repair and will not replace it. I hate leaving reviews like this, I am happy to remove it when / if they decide to honor their product. Claiming outside of warranty while repairs are being made is not how any company should handle customers. So I have canceled the charge on my card, I have the fridge in my garage they can pick it up if they want. read more

Purchased a washer/dryer here yesterday. Can't help but feel mislead on delivery cost. I called ahead and was told delivery would be $45, but after driving all the way to Leander from South Austin to make the purchase, I was charged $80 for delivery. Couldn't just walk away at that point, since I'd already driven all that way, and I needed a washer/dryer for my new apartment ASAP. I would suggest that the owner ensure all employees are on the same page about delivery costs, so that customers aren't given incorrect information over the phone. Washer/dryer are working great so far. Will update if I have any issues. Main complaint is customer service. read more

There is no way for me to rate the technician. Why? Because no one ever showed up. I called & spoke with Ann on Monday, March 11, 2019 as we need a minor repair on a GE Dishwasher. Gave her all the info & she told me the technician would be giving us a call to let us know when he'll be here. As of Thursday, March 14th, still no call from anyone. I called back & spoke with Becca (?) & she apologized & said she'd have the tech call us to make the appointment. Today is Monday, March 18th & my phone has yet to ring from anyone from Pioneer Appliance. Pioneer Appliance Repair gets ZERO stars for reliability. If you have a newer 'smart' appliance call the manufacture for service. Similar to taking your car to a dealer - as a rule I avoid it but sometimes they're the only ones that can fix it correctly. I have a GE Profile refrigerator and these guys don't have the tools to troubleshoot it correctly. They won't tell you that but they should. Rather they just start stabbing in the dark and replacing parts - wasting your time and money. So they came out the first time and replaced the main control board. When it stopped working again they came out and told me it was some other random part to which I asked about the first repair being needed (since it clearly didn't fix anything). The service guy said he'd check back with the owner and I never heard from them again. I replaced that second part myself - no success - so I'm sure they would have come out a third time and happily charged me to replace some other random part. Had a repair guy come out to my rental property in CA and he told me he won't touch newer GE fridges, that he'd be wasting my time and money and his time as well. And he's got the novel policy that if he replaces a part that doesn't fix the problem he eats the cost. Nice and honest! He said call GE - they plug into the fridge with their proprietary software that tells them exactly what's wrong. So I did, called GE - he plugged in, told him one of the thermocouples was reading 133 degrees, he replaced it and was on his way. Pioneer may be able to repair older appliances just fine but they should be honest and upfront about working on new appliances which they don't have the right tools to troubleshoot and fix. This alone will keep me from ever calling them again. read more

Don't bother selling any appliances to this place. As someone with some sales experience, I know when someone is trying to take me for a ride, and that is this place's modus operandi. If you go in, they'll give you a "quote," but as soon as the guy shows up to your place to test your appliances, he starts listing everything that is must be repaired before they can resell them. So, their offer comes down, and since they're already there, it can be difficult to send them away. The thing is, most people don't know a great deal about the workings of their appliances. it either works, or it doesn't. So, if you don't know a lot about the how it works, it can be pretty damn near impossible to do any kind of negotiating. Worse yet, once they buy the appliances, if it is operational, they don't bother repairing it. After all, it doesn't have to "function" for very long before it's not their problem anymore. If the appliance continues working, they're in the clear. If it doesn't, they can charge for repair services. For example: they'll tell you they can't possibly give you more than $25 for a Washer (that seems to be working fine) because of the "repairs" that'll need to be made. But, they won't make any kind of repairs before they resell it as is for upwards of $200. For those of you who aren't particular good at math, that's a 700% markup. Basically, the operators of this establishment are akin to the classic scummy used car salesmen. read more

they got us out of a jam when our old washer flooded our kitchen. Great prices, great service, gave great tips to prevent future issues. When we had a small noise with our new from their showroom set, they came by and fixed it the same day. we are saving for a new fridge now and se already know where we're going to get it. read more

These are really good people that know what they're doing. My sisters dryer stopped heating & we tried everything we knew with our limited knowledge & they gave us several ideas.... & when we couldn't figure it out they told us to bring it by & they took it apart & found the problem & fixed it. They didn't even charge us! Rare to come across good people like them in this day & age. read more

Rip off!!! Horrible customer service and all around flaky... Sent home w fridge worked a whole day and broke again. Took it back and all of a sudden it was sumthing else not fixable! Spent 95$ and still have nothing to show for it! Don't go here!!! read more

I'm new to the area and needed a washer and dryer. After checking reviews, I went to Pioneer Appliance and am very pleased. Every aspect of the transaction went smoothly. My appliances were delivered and installed the day after I purchased them. They even apologized that they couldn't do a same day installation as it was almost closing time. Two days after my 30 day warranty expired, I called them about my washer not draining. The repair technician was at my house within two hours. He made a quick adjustment at no charge. I highly recommend Pioneer Appliance and their knowledgeable, friendly staff. read more

I set up a day and time to have a refrigerator delivered even made sure I took time off work to be there and not only did they not deliver it but not one phone call was made on their part to me explaining why. I called 3 times before the scheduled delivery time to make sure it would be there on time and was reassured each time it would be. Stay far away from this place and the horrible customer service. Pioneer Appliances has always been helpful in the past but yesterday they were over the top helpful. Our dryer stopped heating yesterday and I went by their shop in Leander and Anne took her time right at closing to explain the various possibilities of what the problem might be. She printed off schematics of all the components of the dryer and marked each part with notes on how to replace the part and actually gave me an inexpensive fuse and that's exactly what it was. Excellent service with a great attitude. I've been using Pioneer for many years and will continue to do in the future. read more

I called Pioneer about my washing machine over the phone and described the problem to the repair guy. The guy told me that I was having a minor problem with the agitator and suggested that I could easily take it off and bring it in and get the part I needed for $8 vs an $80 service call. He gave me detailed instructions and I took it off brought it in and a nice lady even changed the part for me at the store. It cost me about $7.50 instead of $8. Maybe I caught them on a good day, but they did all right by me. read more

The motor on my washing machine burned out, so I went to the folks at Pioneer Appliance for help. They gave me good info on how to diagnose the problem and then sold me a used motor that works perfectly. They were all super friendly and helpful, and I got to save a bunch of money compared to buying a new motor or washer. I'll definitely go back in the future if I have any other appliance troubles. read more

Updating as I had more service work done with Pioneer. My dryer burned out, and I needed a repair or replacement. Pioneer came out and took a look. Ended up buying a new gently used model that is also an upgrade. I had them select the best most reliable machine for me and am quite pleased. Will use them again the next time something breaks either for the repair (they repaired my washer) or if I need a new gently used appliance. Oh and the fridge I bought? Still working great! I had a 3ft. mini fridge that wasn't cooling due to a tiny defective part and everyone else said "throw away" since Fridgedaire didn't provide replacement parts. My husband and I used Pioneer Appliance to fix our refrigerator. They were able to fix the issue, but we were grossly overcharged. We ended up paying for a part that didn't need to be replaced. There was no communication between the repair man and us. They just assumed we knew that once a part was replaced, whether it fixed the issue or not, we bought it. I AM NOT OK WITH THIS. I went in to purchase a washing machine. The young lady helping me, really didn't know a whole lot about the product. She was dressed like she worked for hooters. She over charged me, because she was using a incompetent caculator. When I realize what had happened I went back inside and ask for a refund, which the owner did do. I pick up the washing machine and installed it my self. It made a race car noise. I called the store back and they said I had to take it back so they could look at it. I refused, and ask that they come look at it and honor their 30 day warrenty. Which by the way is a joke. The young lady said she'd have someone call me back. Late that afternoon the Lady called me back and said I would have to talk to Floyd. I called Floyd and he acted if though my problem was not important. He refused to come and look at it. He wanted me to place the phone next to it, so he could here it. After a great argument he agree'd to come out 3 days later. He came and said there was deffinately a problem, but didnt want to fix it and offered me a refund that I would have to wait to get back on my credit card, which I stil havent recieved. In the mean time I have to go purchase another machine and I am still waiting on the money. Not friendly at all. I would never recommend this place. Ugh! We bought a fridge from them, which ended up being too large for the space and they said we could trade for a smaller one. Problem was in order to trade we needed to wait for them to call us back, which they never did. We called multiple times and even stopped back in a few times to be met with the same answer. Had to wait for them to call us. We've now had the fridge a year and it is leaking coolant. Will not go back or recommend them to anyone. read more

Excellent people to conduct business with. Not only polite and helpful, they stand behind any product they sell. (we have purchased from them) Also, if any of you need a gas dryer hooked up (by a professional, as is the regulation), they do it for less than HALF of all the other bids we got...to include Lowes, who wanted $130.00 to do the favor! Several bids were higher than that! Good grief! On top of this, when the repairman came out to do this (for $45.00), he found a wrongly installed gas component that hooked the new dryer into our gas line. He repaired that as well, for a minimal charge....and we can now definitely sleep better at night. We had been worried about the instability of this line for some time. I recently bought a used washer from Pioneer appliance they told me they had this real good one and I would get a lot of great use out of it. the price sounded good they told me everything I wanted to hear i got it home hooked it up decided to do a load of laundry. Put my clothes in went to sort my others to put them in. Meanwhile my laundry room, dining room, and part of living room were flooding. Washer didnt shut off like its suppose to when reaching the correct water level. Spent three hours that night with three people cleaning THAT MESS. The next day brought it back he blamed me cause a interior hose in the top panel was disconnected somehow that was my fault he fixed it I took it home and it worked good for a week . So at that point we had it for two weeks then it starts making a loud grinding noise. I took it back they said i will look at it and call you back in a couple of hours he never did. The next day I called them back.He blamed me for overloading it. I had two shirts 2 pants and two pillowcases in it on a low setting he said it stripped the gears out on it that washers were only designed to be run on extra large setting . Hmmm then why does a washer have more than one setting? At this time i was done with them and how i was treated as a customer. So i asked for a refund and he refused putting all the blame on me once again. All i can say is I was sold a bad appliance! They did not even want it back i would never do business or recommend anyone else do business with Pioneer ! read more
