They have a bar here called Broken Spoke. Seating is packed really tight and its hard to get to and from your table. The food is sub par, it is edible and portions are filling. Ambiance is prison meets family thanksgiving. But it is on the mountain and easy to access. They have a Rockstar Energy Drink fridge but no rockstar in it lol. The fountain drinks get a 10/10 love the cups, the ice, and the choices. It was sooooo expensive, way more than we are used to spending on Vail owned property restaurants read more

Had the perfect Bloody Mary at Broken Spoke, however the cup was unpleassant too drink from, it needs a wider mouth. The food looked yummy, but didn't give it go. Highly recommend a stop after hitting the Independence lift. read more

Less crowded than the food choices st the bottom of the ski-slopes; this restaurant sits atop Lift 7. Grab your food (plenty of hot choices), pay, and sit anywhere you can find a table. Prices were average for ski-resort, but the Clam Chowder in Bread Bowl was a huge surprise! It was actually good; not just good for ravenous skiiers! read more

DO NOT GET THE COWBOY CHILI. Worst chili I've ever had. Maybe the vegetarian chili is better but the meat chili was awful and barely had any beans or flavor. Most ski resorts have great chili so I was disappointed. Abasin's chili is great. They don't give many chicken fingers, they were okay though and the french fries were good. Burger was dry and bland. Always hot fresh food and usually we can get a table the staff up here are super friendly and helpful. I LOVE Broken Spoke Bar staff All of them are AWSOME, Edward, Claire, Courtney and Jordan. They are super friendly and very fast. We never wait more than a few minutes to get our orders in. If you need a break from the cold they have bottomless coffee. I ordered the chicken fingers with fries. The chicken tenders were terrible! I couldn't even finish the last two tenders. It was super dry or over cooked. It tasted like it's been there for a day or two. No flavor to the chicken, it just tasted bland. The breading to the chicken was rock hard. The French fries thankfully tasted good with the right amount of salt and it was crispy and crunchy. Overall, it was really expensive spending $23 for chicken tenders and fries with a Gatorade. They really do take advantage of you at the peak of the mountain. The only great thing about the place was the cleanliness of the restrooms. Also, you don't have hike up or downstairs like you do at the bottom of the mountain for a restroom. read more

I've skied many days a year for more than 20 yrs. When I had some family in town I wanted to take them to the nicest 'on mountain' restaurant I could find, so I called Breck customer service. They assured me that Pioneer Crossing was the place to go. Well... when we walked in, it appeared to be just like every other on-mountain restaurant, albeit with nicer views. When my family and I walked to the area where they serve food, there was no indication that anything was for sale. There were no posted signs or TV monitors displaying food items and prices. So how did we know what to buy? We each had to ask one of the 'cooks' what they had for sale. We were told: Hamburgers, chicken fingers, or soup. Nope, actually, sorry, they're out of soup. So (surprise) the 6 of us got either chicken fingers or a burger. Each of us also got a bottled sports drink. The bill? Almost $150. Even before we arrived, I expected the food to not be super great and I expected the pricing gouging to be average but tolerable. But Pioneer Crossing really outdoes itself by setting a new bar in the "let's gouge the skiers" game. With all honesty, we could have gotten better tasting food at a drive thru. "Sure you could, but you couldn't get that VIEW", I hear you say. And you nailed it. There is one (and only one) draw to this "restaurant", and that is the view. It's very nice. Thanks Breck customer service for steering me toward this wonderful place. We won't be back. If you decide to go, be assured that the other reviews are correct when they state the service is slow, and the food is terrible. It's equivalent to eating at a middle school cafeteria. Had a terrible experience here on Saturday 1/2/21. Wind was kicking up quite badly on the top of Peak 7. The bottom of peak 7 was reservation only even to use the restroom. So we took the lift up to the top of peak 7 hoping to just find some warmth and a cup of chili and hot chocolate. This restaurant (ski cafeteria) was also reservation only due to covid 19 and we were told the reservations were sold out. There was no way to book a table for the entire rest of the afternoon. We looked around and only 2 of 10 available tables were taken. We were then directed to eat our soup in 8 degree windy weather outside. Then we came back in to use the restroom and drink a hot beverage and were then kicked out of the warmth indoors by the manager and told we were not allowed to stand inside, masks on or off. We take covid 19 very seriously, and stood at least 10ft from anyone else (maybe 5 or 6 others trying to do the same thing). After pointing out the 8 empty tables, and asking if we could sit for just a moment, we were told by her that "they had reservations coming." For the twenty minutes this entire process took, not one of those tables were filled. That same manager actually called ski patrol on other very cold patrons who just wanted a moment to warm up. We were also told cameras were present and Summit Country was monitoring the situation so no accommodations could be made. After spending $200 to ski that day, it was extremely disappointing to be kicked out of the only place in the entire peak 7 where we could try to get warm for a moment and use the restroom. Even in these covid times, I was shocked by the manager's lack of empathy or accommodation when everyone was more than 10ft apart just trying to warm themselves before making their way down the mountain. Shame on Breckenridge Mountain / Summit county for creating this type of situation where skiers can't even find a place to be warm on a mountain peak both at the bottom and top of peak 7. For those venturing to Breck this season, skip peak 7. We had an extremely different experience at Vista Haus on Peak 8 the day before where folks maintained covid safe measures while still being kind and considerate. read more

Skiing at Breckenridge is amazing, even into the warmer months if the snow doesn't melt too quickly! We stopped at the Pioneer Grill in between runs for some lunch. The Breck Chili was delicious, but a VERY small portion (which for $13 didn't seem worth it). If you want some great views in a cabin-like lodge, this is the place for you. The prices are higher here than at the base lodges, though. read more

This ski-trap may have the worst food in the Vail Resorts empire. Nothing is fresh from their burgers to their fries, to their soups, chilis and mac n' cheese. If you like reheated but cold food on a cold day, then this is your kind of place. Just by looking at the food sitting in pots coagulating or under the heat lamps, you can see that nothing is freshly prepared, just tired, bad cafeteria food. With prices in the stratosphere for small portions (how about $18 for a quesadilla which may be a world record), it doesn't get much worse than Pioneer Crossing. You should check out the $18 soup and sandwich combo which consists of tomato bisque sludge and a grilled pimento cheese wiz sandwich--I bet their executive chef worked for one of the airlines. My hamburger was one of the worst I ever had even after 5 hours of skiing. I couldn't even finish it--what garbage. And when you hunt down the manager to share your displeasure, he says he'll take it up with management which is the Vail way of saying they don't give a hoot about you, only your moola. Vail is just counting on the altitude to lighten your wallet and your taste buds. Next time, ski right on past Pioneer Crossing unless you are indifferent to food and value for your Benjamins... read more

Nice, clean restaurant with wonderful views at the end of the ski lift on Peak 7. The food, however, leaves much to be desired. The three of us ordered chicken fingers and fries (the order comes with three dry, bland chicken fingers per plate). With drinks, the price came to nearly $90. There were some other food items available (burgers, chili, etc.), but we were reluctant to try any of them. Unless you are starving, we recommend avoiding this place. read more
