Fish tacos... They were pretty flavorless and were served with what appeared to be called salsa.

So so. Positives: location! Open air seating! Fantastic waitress! Negatives: the food feel flat. Not awful but really not. good. It's hard to find parking.

If you like old school plantation style accommodations this is the place for you. We had a room with a balcony on front street it's great for people watching. Staff was super friendly and wetter all about the aloha sprit.

The "basket" of "seasoned" fries. LOL s

This review is for the restaurant only. In short, the food was pretty bad. I got the chicken wings which were overcooked and dry. I also ordered a "basket" of "seasoned" fries for $8 (pictured)- they weren't seasoned fries at all but crinkle cut fries- the kind that come frozen in a bag- and they tasted like it as well. They came served on a small bread plate, not a basket, and as for portion size, it was less than what others in my party got to accompany their sandwiches. For $8 I was expecting an actual basket that could be shared with the table. My brother got the pork sliders and reported that they were less than mediocre. The children in our group got pancakes and reported that they too were less than mediocre. The review gets 2 stars only because our waitress was great. TLDR: this is just another high priced tourist trap. It seems the whole island of Maui has become one high priced tourist trap. It's pretty sad because it wasn't that way years ago. We usually go to Kauai and should have stuck with it this time as welL. Lesson learned.

Mail Tai is sizeable but syrupy and the tap beer selection is slim

I hate to give two stars since ever place has a bad bad but this prime location spot is way past its prime and although the historical artifacts are cool everything is very dated including food and drinks. We stopped in for apps before a sunset cruise and Alex the African gray parrot was the highlight of our visit. The coconut shrimp were ok but only three to a plate. If they gave this place an overhaul starting with the menu and a good scrub it would be great. Unfortunately, as it is its not worth the stop.

The night we arrived I took photos of my feet/legs on the Lanai for fun. By the end of our short 2 night stay.

Bed bugs. They claim it's untrue. Never had them... so many precautions. Bull. Total bull. Room 36 and I found an old complaint from that exact room on the bedbugreport site. Their response gives me no faith people after us will be guarded more than I was. I'm really upset. It's very, very itchy and ugly.

The rooms were old and outdated. And we were not impressed with the rooms, only the pools. Fast forward to just recently we came with our toddler son. The rooms are nicer now, it looks like the renovated. Like the bathroom looks renovated and the toilet isn't the slow flushing toilets. Rooms aren't too bad. Carpet wasn't dirty as I remembered it. Beds are lumpy though and it's also the worst made bed ever. They should learn from Mexico, their beds made are perfect. Westins bed is non fitted sheets with a undersize mattress cover, every thing moves around when you move around. So by the time you wake up, half of the mattress is exposed bc all the sheets are small. Or the sheets are all messed up beyond recognition! Lol. I had to constantly make the bed myself because any small movement moves everything out of place. Pools- we were only on the kids side. The one with the slide is a pretty small pool, but the one next to it is big (not kids specific). Good pool area for kids. We liked it. Not too many chairs but enough for the day. They need more small tables for drinks. It was very limited. The pool water was also extremely cold. We came in May and the water was like ice water. Probably good on a hot day but it was windy and cold. What is odd is the pool next to the kids pool was not ice cold. It felt just right. We had to move over there. But one day it was not ice water, so it's a hit or miss with water temp. Best thing was their arcade. I don't recall they had this 5 years ago. It was awesome!! My toddler loved this. What a great way to entertain them. Also has a bar there for the adults and bowling alley. Not real bowling but close enough. It was cool. Arcade bartender made a really good lychee martini, best one I've tried. The arcade is the BEST part of staying here with a toddler. They also got a new restaurant- Ulu, which we came for breakfast everyday. It was good. Enjoyed their pool bar too. Every one was really friendly too. Overall, it's a good resort. Westin has the best resort pool and now arcade. Also close to Whalers Village. We would come back again.

I'd say that it checked the boxes in…read moreevery regard that was important to me - convenience, great location, updated facilities, and family friendly. I came here late April 2026. When you first arrive and walk into the lobby, it is quite stunning. I don't know when their latest renovation was, but it feels updated within the past 7-8 years, modern but also keeping that nice Hawaiian touch. You're welcomed by several live plants and flowers covering the walls in the breezeway when you walk towards the front desk, and can spot a waterfall and koi pond. Rooms - As Marriott Bonvoy members, we luckily got upgraded to the room with view of ocean and expansive pool area - literally looks like the picture featured on this Yelp review. It's a stunning view. The room itself was also nicely updated! It felt modern, yet still cozy and inviting. We got 2 queens, and it seems that every room comes with a balcony. We all loved the balcony - great way to be outside and enjoy the weather, live music, and dry your swimsuits. Anyway, the room itself was very comfortable, and it's hard to find updated rooms in Maui for a somewhat decent price. I think my only complaint is that it was a bit small - it was ok for the 3 of us (2 adults + 1 toddler), but I can't imagine coming here as a family of 4 with teenagers, and have to squeeze into the small room. Swimming pools - there were several to choose from, including a designated kid's pool, regular pool, and adult only pools. They were each nicely designed and landscaped with the trees - there were several slides for each pool, and designed in such a way where you couldn't even notice them. Also, the adult pool was hidden, so little ones aren't tempted to access the adult only pool, and I'm sure it worked well the other way by not being able to hear the kids! The towel process was a little annoying. We were given several towel cards good for each towel. But the annoying thing was that we had to carry separate towel cards separate from our room key, that was a wristband. Might as well just combine the two to make it more convenient for guests? Not that it was a huge hinderance - just a suggestion. Beach access - you are basically right there, on a public beach. It was extremely convenient to be right there, grabbing our towels from the hotel and using them for the beach. If you want lounge chairs, umbrellas, etc. though, you will have to pay a fee to rent them. Obviously it's not as nice as other hotels that have that all set up for you, like we've experienced in other countries, but hey, it's just the Westin. Restaurants - There aren't too many restaurants to choose from here - but we did really enjoy the Hale Moʻolelo Restaurant/Bar. We didn't actually eat here at all, but enjoyed cocktails here every night. They have live music DAILY each evening, and welcome all ages, including our toddler. I was getting tired of the Hawaiian tiki drinks, started ordering regular cocktails, which were decent. The live music alone was wonderful each evening. There was also the Ulu Kitchen by Merriman's, which we were somewhat interested in trying, but never got around to it. Marriott Bonvoy members also get free breakfast with their stay. They did not have a designated breakfast restaurant, unfortunately, but rather they gave us credit for the convenience store that served hot food and other beverages. They had options such as Loco Moco, scrambled eggs and potatoes, acai bowls, spam masubi. Honestly it was all very disappointing food - my daughter really only liked the spam masubi that didn't seem worth it for one entree item. We did utilize the free beverage for bottled water each day though, which was convenient. Location - was wonderful too. It was located right next to Whaler's Village, which is a shopping center with lots of restaurants, coffee, an ABC store, etc. It's a short walk, and we walked here each morning to get coffee, have my toddler run around, and also walk around with her in the stroller during her naps. The hotel is also located with just a few minutes drive to Lahaina, where more restaurants were. Amenities - they have random pet parrots that come out during the daytime, which my daughter loved seeing each day. Fun to see the fish in the koi pond. Also, they have random vendors/activities in their breezeway where the shops are, including pineapple tasting, hat making, etc. which can be fun for the little ones. The arcade was also pretty amazing. Some of the games have this "play until you win" feature, which was really nice for all kids playing to win something. My daughter was hooked. Elevators can be slow. We found that the ones located on the side closest to the front desk were faster than the ones closer to the Arcade! Just realize that this place seemed like it was intended for families, but it was executed quite nicely. Would highly recommend.

My girlfriend (ex) and I went here and Jim and Kim Wicker, who run the place and live downstairs, were perfect hosts and even lent us a tour CD that guided us along the infamous Road To Hana. The cost was great; it was about the price of a hotel, but you get a pool, use of laundry facilities, you can borrow the coolers and beach stuff they have, and you get fresh baked treats. The only caveat is they have an extensive list of rules, and the owners can come across a little snarky in the enforcement of them. Like the pool can only be used at this time and that time, or you can't put stuff on the chairs by the pool, or the laundry hours are from this time to that time. They do it to create a relaxing and enjoyable environment for all the guests, and it works, but I think if they were just a bit less rigid and militant, people would still mind the rules and they wouldn't seem so aggressive. I was hoping to stay in the Napili Tower, mainly because I liked the pool area better--longer, more spread out, and largely oceanfront. That said, the Lahaina Tower ended up having its own perks. The biggest one is that it's right next to the self-parking structure that's used for the whole resort, which makes coming and going incredibly easy. If you're staying in the Napili tower, self-parking is all the way on the other side and I would recommend using valet instead to save you the walk. Our room was spacious and comfortable, technically "oceanfront," though it felt more like oceanview. Still, no complaints--the view was lovely, and the room itself had a convenient kitchenette with a fridge, sink, and all the basics (plates, utensils, etc.), which made snack time quick and easy. The Lahaina Tower also has its own smaller pool area, plus a few fun extras like ping pong and foosball. It's also right by Longhi's, if you're looking for an easy meal. If you want more action, the main pool area--with the large, winding pool and additional dining options--is just a short walk away. The weather during our stay wasn't the best--it was actually pretty chilly by Maui standards following the heels of two major storms--but we still had a great time. Between the comfortable room, convenient location, and easy access to everything on property, it made for a relaxed and low-effort getaway. While the resort may not be the newest, we really like the main pool area. I'll definitely opt for the Lahaina/Napili towers again next time. This is a great resort, especially for families looking for a laid-back Maui stay with nice views and plenty to do.

Here are the Pros and Cons to this hotel: PROS: 1. The hotel manager was very kind. We were checking in late, so he taped an envelope with my info on the office window. He also repaired our shower drain, which wasn't draining properly. 2. Our room had a full kitchen. 3. Great location, in walking distance to a few restaurants. 4. Free beach equipment (boogie boards, coolers, etc) to borrow, as well as beach towels. CONS: 1. No A/C in our room. I didn't think that would be a problem, since there were nice ocean breezes, but our room got very hot, even with a ceiling fan and a floor fan blowing. I had a hard time sleeping. 2. Very thin walls. We could hear our neighbor in his bathroom at 5 am. 3. Tiny bugs in the kitchen and bathroom. They were everywhere. 4. Tight parking spots. Luckily, we had rented a compact car. 5. No beach access. That being said, in Hawaii by law, there are no private beaches. Every hotel and resort must provide a specified number of beach access parking spots. We visited the beach at the Hyatt Regency Resort and parked there for free. 6. No TV in the room. This didn't really bother us, however, since we were too busy to watch TV most of the time, anyway. Overall, we had a good stay, but we will splurge for a hotel with A/C next time.
