The food was pretty good. There were a few things I didn't like but that's to be expected at a buffet. The prime rib was a bit too dry and the water melon tasted odd. Sort of a light chemical taste. The lobster soup didn't taste good to me either. Our attendant was shocked that I didn't like it and pressured me to explain what I didn't like about it. I just didn't like the seasoning and that's that. Otherwise, the place is exceptionally clean, the seafood was great and the staff were very attentive. We've eaten here for years on vacation(was The Sea Farer before moving from Murrells Inlet). We loved it then.....and have tried to give them a chance to make things better since changing hands. They've out priced themselves! $49 is a bit steep for sub par food, cheap sides (corn, carrots, rice, baked potatoes etc) and the desserts are gross.....institutional food is 80% of their menu! Salad bar has no fresh fruit anymore, beef items are over cooked and leathery, shrimp still has the mud vein, Drinks are not included-not even tea or lemonade! Restrooms floors are so slick and greasy I can't help but wonder what the kitchen looks like. ALL the staff has very thick accent and act like they don't understand you-and expect big tips for removing plates. Hard to get water refills but I'm sure if you're buying drinks they're all over refills for more $ Oh and they give the locals a discount. Not sure that's cool!! We're finished eating there forever! As they let me seat down, I have walked around the food selection, as that moment, I want to leave cause not much option for what you paid 49 per person. They have some original flavor crab legs, maybe from another day, not very fresh. They have 2 option of shrimp( that's it), one deep fried and one boiled with Cajun seasoning. Outstanding Seafood buffet worth the drive to Surfside Beach just to the south of Myrtle Beach. We were in on Sunday we went early as soon as the doors open food was hot and fresh and plentiful. Reasonably price for all you can eat seafood buffet service was outstanding staff was real friendly. Crab legs, steamed clams, shrimp, she crab soup and the prime rib was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The only disappointment we were not in season for the mermaid swim. As a tip be sure to pick up any one of the coupon books they do have a five dollar coupon if you go before five. Hey it's saved us ten bucks, that's 10 more bucks towards souvenirs. Dusan our server was excellent - very friendly and attentive! We went in and got seated immediately and everyone was spaced out. That was really nice as you felt you had space to eat. A wide variety of foods to choose from as it is a buffet. My group mostly went for crab legs which were good, but on the smaller side. During COVID times you have to wear a mask when walking around, but not when you're seated at the table. In addition, you must put on gloves before serving yourself from the buffet line. They provide the gloves as they are just the disposable plastic ones. I didn't mind the process as it wasn't too much added work to maintain safety (and really cleanliness). The restaurant is super nice. Pirates are everywhere and a mermaid is in the indoor pool splashing around. Our Pirate (waitress) Jordan was wonderful. Super friendly, very attentive and made sure our plates were cleared and our drinks were replenished when needed. The food was tasty, warm and plentiful. Lots of seafood and non seafood dishes. This place was amazing! I came here with my family as we saw an advertisement on a coupon book. The food was sooo good! The crab legs were fresh and hot and easy to break apart and eat. We had 5 adults and 2 children (ages 6 & 8)... they tried to charge us for 7 adults - a $45 difference. When we told them that there were 2 children, they acted like we were lying and came back like 3 different times, asking their ages (the kids were off looking at the "mermaid" at this point). This same waitress worked with us the whole evening. She saw the kids. There were even kids cups still sitting on the table. It was a whole ordeal and took about 15 mins to fix it. Calabash seafood is not a gigantic buffet bar with over 100 items! Calabash seafood is seafood rolled in cornmeal flour, then deep fried. The deluxe platters will contain oysters, shrimp, scallops, flounder, deviled crab, cole slaw, fries, & hush puppies. That's it! Don't believe drive a few miles north, cross the state line in NC and visit the little town of Calabash! The town where this cuisine was started and spread outward from over 70 odd years ago! Anything else on the beach is BS and a sad variation on a classic Carolina style of cooking!!
