Pita GR surprised me a little bit. They are highly rated on Yelp but FOOD So far, I've tried the Beef/lamb gyro Pita and the Braised Lamb Pita. The protein, fries, pita, and other ingredients were all great. I don't have any complaints. Both were good but the Braised Lamb surprised me. It's not commonly offered at other restaurants and it was really tender and flavorful. SERVICE Friendly and good INSIDE There's a good number of seats and tables inside. It's comfy. The restroom is kind of strange. Not sure if the door locks. PARKING Shared, large parking in the rear. All of the stores here have a somewhat unique set up. The buildings are all up next to the street side. Only the sidewalk is between the shops and the street.

I was craving a frozen yogurt and noticed this place sells it! I ordered the frozen yogurt and This is the best frozen yogurt I have ever had! I usually like eating Greek yogurt because of the taste and the frozen yogurt doesn't taste like it's artificial! I taste like Greek yogurt, frozen! The service is fast and the ambience is really cute.

Came here again and the food was awesome! Plenty food for the amount you pay. The tempura zucchini is seriously the best I've had! Hands down. Service was good. I did have to wait a bit to get my takeout order, but the people were very friendly and helpful. Ambiance is casual and comfortable. Plenty of seating for those who want to eat there and even had some outdoor seating as well.

This is a really great place. I've had pita fast pita. This pita is Great. On this visit I had the lamb pita. It's comes with a side of fries. Take a turn away from the normal burger and fries. This is an awesome change from the normal fast food lunch or even dinner. The service is top notch. So helpful if you aren't sure what you want. The ambiance is nice with Greek music in the air. Overall well priced.

I spotted this place while driving to See's Candies and decided to give it a try, so glad I did. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was on point. We were greeted right away, and the whole place had a warm, welcoming, homey vibe. The menu selection is solid. We ordered the beef gyro and the chicken souvlaki plate. The beef gyro was very tasty, the meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The chicken souvlaki was also delicious, but the real standout for me was the hummus. It's made in-house, and you can absolutely tell, creamy, warm, and honestly one of the best hummus dishes I've had. It even brought back memories of Papa Cristo back in Mid-City LA, that's how good it was. If you're craving quality Mediterranean food, don't pass this gem up.

I went to Pita GR since I really needed lunch before a doctor's appointment that was in the same plaza and have been on a Mediterranean kick lately. I decided to give the Lamb Gyro Street Style a try. The portion size was okay. The meat was dry and not much flavor. I probably should have asked for more tzatziki sauce which have helped with that. The fries were good and I really like that they were topped with some cheese. I think it was feta. The staff were very nice abd helpful. The vibe was casual, and relaxing. The restaurant was clean and maintained. I'm glad I tried it but I probably wouldn't try it again unless I'm close by and need something fast.

I absolutely love pita gr! I come here regularly to dine in. On a Thursday evening about an hour before closing, I tried to order online and I think the system was down. Placed a call and was left on hold. I enjoy the food so much, I went to order in person. It did not appear to be busy, cooks and staff looked at me while I waited to order. After almost 10 minutes someone came to take my order. I ordered Zucchini chips, half chicken gyro, and a beef/lamb gyro wrap. Unfortunately the take out was not theirs best quality of food. Maybe because it was close to their closing time. Fried zucchini was burnt and when bit into, it tasted like grease. That was a bummer because their zucchini is one of my favorite dishes. I also did not expect the half chicken to be chopped into tiny tiny pieces like that. I should have asked that before ordering. Overall their food is great when you dine in, I do not recommend take out. Try their zucchini, spicy dip, zeus fries and their chicken skewers! Dine in food is delicious and it's always clean inside the restaurant.

The food is amazing. We had the pork pita and the beef/lamb pita with the Greek salad, the way the flavors blend together in your mouth, the fries had the perfect crunch, will definitely come again. Shoutout to the workers too, super friendly and their recommendations were definitely on point.

came here during my break to get lunch looking for something pretty healthy and honestly this is a good spot. i got a chicken salad it came with garlic fries, pita, and a really good salad with feta and red notions, and lettuce with kale it comes with sauce but tasted really good without it too the portion was also really big so i had a lunch for that day and the next. the fries are thin cut which i love and the seasoning was super good. everything was seriously a nice about to flavor, i don't like my food over seasoned so this was just what i needed. service was pretty fast especially since there were a few orders in while we came. even though i came here for takeout i saw each type of person come in: family, couple, pick up for catering, so they do it all and the vibe is chill yet corporate, it's like greek food made into a fast food restaurant, but i love it cuz honestly we need that, can't just be relying on that trip to vegas to have mad greek lol i'll def be coming back here again

This place was recommended by a Facebook Foodie Page, so I thought I would give it a try as part of my Mediterranean food extravaganza. I tried various dishes at over a dozen Mediterranean restaurants in a 6-month period. The flavors of the gyro were good. But I felt like the protein portion for the gyro was very small compared to gyros from other similar locations. Along with the gyro, I had the Zucchini fries. They looked great, just like the photos I had previously seen online. Unfortunately, they were very oily and greasy and not like I expected. The staff was friendly. Parking was super easy. The price of the gyro was comparable to other similar locations.

It's good, it's Greek good! Best Greek food for miles around. Great tasting fresh yet authentic flavors. (Must try Grilled Halloumi if you've never tried - so good). Dino and Joe are personable and welcoming. Dining room and decor is fresh bright and modern yet authentically Greek. Good mix of old and new. read more

Great food!! Been coming to Downey yo visit for a few years and there are a lot of new spots popping up. Came in for a gyro and ending up coming back the next day to try more of the menu. The food has great flavor and they have amazing sauces to complement the dishes . Definitely coming back when I'm in Downey read more

Lookin to satisfy your hunger for Greek food? Well you're in luck cuz the food here is yummy, yummy all the thyme yummy. Great service, clean establishment and awesome bites. Be sure to mention me with the cashier and you will get nothing but a confused look cuz no one here knows me by name. That being said try the saganaki, its cheese. I freakin love cheese and the pita is off the chain wax. read more

Great flavor profile in the dishes we have had. Love their cabbage salad. So flavorful and healthy. The atmosphere is great. Nice music but not too loud so you can enjoy a conversation over a meals. Servers are pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend. read more

This is my go to take out place , hands down. I visit here once a week usually and I can't say enough good things. One time I had less than stellar food but I'm so happy we tried again because it's been top notch since. I always get a Merida , the sweet potato is my favorite and do yourself a favor and try the preserved lemons w yogurt , it's almost life changing. Also , every here has always been super friendly and helpful and that just adds to becoming a top favorite spot. read more

So today I had the pleasure in trying one of Pita GRs chicken street food pita and well...let me start by saying zaaaaaamn! Instant party in my mouth! So tasty! I got it to go and the to go packaging was very chic and simple. Pita was good when I got home, I can only imagine eating eat straight off the grill. I cant Express how much my husband and I loved this place. My husband wanted to go to a Cuban well known place that I think is completely over priced and over rated (won't say the name). I yelped the best places to eat in Downey and they came up. Wow, what a treat we ordered the Lamb Pita and the Lamb plate I was so happy with both items. The staff was very friendly and helpful the place was bright and open. Valentino was very hospitable and even had us try their homemade yogurt on our way out. Worth every penny I will be back for more. read more

This new Greek restaurant in my town is a hit. The food was fresh and tasted just like my Greece trip last summer. I tried crispy zucchini chips and I'm addicted to this unique taste. I've grown up in Downey and I wish there were more places here like this! The menu was a bit overwhelming at first, but the cashier offered to answer any questions I had. I ordered the yeero pita to go. My food came out quickly and every staff member I interacted with smiled at me. I love the design/decoration - lots of natural lighting and very aesthetic. The food itself was tasty. My only complaint is that they stapled my to-go bag shut, which just seemed unnecessary. read more

This is honestly what Heaven food must taste like. And there's so many different array of flavors in one plate it's incredible. Your brain and taste buds are going to be in such excitement you won't know what to do with yourself. I got the chicken Merida rotisserie with Revithosalata hummus and it was cooked to perfection. This is the worst pita I have ever had! I ordered a Pork Pita Sandwich and it should have been named a "Pork fat" Pita Sandwich. The pork had about 10% meat and the rest was fat. It was so disgusting I couldn't eat it! The fat was fried to a pretty golden color but it was still just fat!!! I have never left a bad review before but felt that people need to be warned about the lack of quality of this food before they spend their hard earned money on fried fat. I must say that the clerk who took my order was nice and efficient but that didn't make up for the horrible pork pita sandwich. read more

I was coming home from Commerce Casino, driving to Long Beach. I felt like Greek and wanted something new. Found these guys on Yelp and stopped in. I ordered the Chicken Merida (plate) with skewered chicken. I don't normally write reviews on Yelp, I only look for good places to go. The food was sooooooooo good....Fresh, clean, and extremely tasty. Even the cabbage salad had a great dressing (a little tangy), the chicken was outstanding, amazing hummus, and they even through a hand full of crispy french fries on top of your plate. I met the owner, seemed to be genuine in asking me how everything was, ect.....I would invest with these guys if they opened a larger sit down restaurant in a hip, upscale location. Not sure Downey is the right spot but if your in the area, don't pass it up. For real. read more

I literally never write a review about a place but this place 100% deserves it. I work in the food business and I have never felt more welcomed. All the guys who worked there were so nice, they refilled our waters and took our plates. The food is AMAZING! I'm vegetarian and it's hard for me to find plates to enjoy but my mom who isn't vegetarian ordered my plate as well SWEET POTATO PLATE. 100% am recommending this place to everyone read more

Called them before I went, thankfully, because I didn't see falafel on the menu. They don't have falafel but they offered sweet potato as a substitute! Sweet potato is nothing like falafel, not even close. A Greek restaurant without falafel is not a Greek restaurant! read more

Ordered take out today and the food was yummy we got sreet style lamb gyros and 2 sides of dipping sauces, I was kinda shocked for the price the dipping sauce didn't come with pita bread and she didn't ask if we wanted any I assumed it came with it. Anyway the 2 stars are due to the safty and social distancing order. No one working had mask or gloves on. read more

Been here few days in a row. Really nice to see something unique like this in Downey. It's fast casual so order at the counter grab your drink and sit back and relax. It's really a beautiful comfortable space and I appreciate the servers checking up on us. I've had lamb chops zucchini chips and the cabbage salad all excellent and plentiful. Today we did splurge with baklava frozen yogurt again another delicious treat. All in all a great experience staff is super friendly and food kicked ass. Will definitely be back. read more

BEAUTIFUL PLACE AMAZING FOOD !! Reason for the 4 stars ? Menu menu menu ... I am a pescatarian ok so ZERO fish on the menu and only two dishes that have zero land mammals in it (sorry but that's what I call them lol) don't get me wrong the food WAS AMAZINGGGGGGGT the place is CUTE AF CLEANNNNN and the employees are super sweet and their uniforms are AMMMMAZING super CUTE ! But please come on this is LA county ! Get some pescatarian/vegetarian options !! The two I had to choose from was the sweet potato dish (which is what I got ) or the cabbage salad that's it .... what about some shrimp ??? Salmon ??? Something !! I'm sure there are Greeks that enjoy fish .... just saying loves I will def come back because the food was soooo good I'm a little bummed because I love Greek lemon soup but they have chicken in it and it's made in large batches ... so I would like to see more choices for me !!!!!! Too much with the olive flavor. If you like olives A LOT, you'll like the lamb pita. The lamb didn't taste fresh though. I love Greek food but not so much here. I also tried the scordalia and that too was too "olivey" for me. read more

Just stopped by Pita GR for some Greek eats and it didn't disappoint. I got the Zeus fries loaded with beef/lamb gyro meat and it was massive - totally hit the spot. What I loved most? They don't skimp on the tzatziki sauce here, unlike other places. The fries were just the right amount of crispy and the gyro meat was spot on - well cooked and seasoned. My wife had the braised lamb pita, which was good, but she kept eyeing my gyro meat. Can't go wrong with the classic. Service was a tad slow giving us our food, but it was all good. It happens sometimes. This was our 3rd time coming here and this seemed like an outlier. The place has a really cozy feel to it with all the warm, bright colors, perfect for this chilly evening. I love all the string lights casting a golden glow. Plus, there's plenty of parking, which is always a win. Prices are reasonable too compared to others. Finally a little touch of creativity and originality in Downey. I've been waiting for a strong Greek concept to come to Downey. I grew up with lots of Greek friends and have attended the Downey Greek Festival since I was little. Pita GR brings a much needed highly developed menu without the stuffiness of a full service sit down restaurant. The food is incredible. I recommend that you order things "family style". Last time, my friends and I ordered a few different "Kilos" of lamb and pork and a few different sides. It was more than enough to eat but the real treat was the quality of the meat and vegetables. I ordered the chicken gyro with the chef's modern take on it & I just felt it was drenched in sauce, it felt too heavy, the chicken was burnt on one side so it tasted over charred & nothing about the contents of the gyro was fresh. The fries weren't anything to write home about, but I did add an extra star for the customer service because they were pleasant. I was hoping for a chicken gyro with fresh juicy tomatoes inside & some crunch, but unfortunately the flavor profile was one dimensional: salty with a side of burnt. Won't be back. read more

This little gem was quit the experience. After coming back from a trip to Greece this past summer I was thrilled to fined a Modern Greek Restaurant that served all my favorites. My pork "Yeeros" was spot on. The Pita was the perfect chew to fluff and pork belly Yeero inside was the perfect crisp to spice top all that off with that Bomb tzatziki and boom a successful expierence.
