Pita GR surprised me a little bit. They are highly rated on Yelp but FOOD So far, I've tried the Beef/lamb gyro Pita and the Braised Lamb Pita. The protein, fries, pita, and other ingredients were all great. I don't have any complaints. Both were good but the Braised Lamb surprised me. It's not commonly offered at other restaurants and it was really tender and flavorful. SERVICE Friendly and good INSIDE There's a good number of seats and tables inside. It's comfy. The restroom is kind of strange. Not sure if the door locks. PARKING Shared, large parking in the rear. All of the stores here have a somewhat unique set up. The buildings are all up next to the street side. Only the sidewalk is between the shops and the street.

I was craving a frozen yogurt and noticed this place sells it! I ordered the frozen yogurt and This is the best frozen yogurt I have ever had! I usually like eating Greek yogurt because of the taste and the frozen yogurt doesn't taste like it's artificial! I taste like Greek yogurt, frozen! The service is fast and the ambience is really cute.

Came here again and the food was awesome! Plenty food for the amount you pay. The tempura zucchini is seriously the best I've had! Hands down. Service was good. I did have to wait a bit to get my takeout order, but the people were very friendly and helpful. Ambiance is casual and comfortable. Plenty of seating for those who want to eat there and even had some outdoor seating as well.

This is a really great place. I've had pita fast pita. This pita is Great. On this visit I had the lamb pita. It's comes with a side of fries. Take a turn away from the normal burger and fries. This is an awesome change from the normal fast food lunch or even dinner. The service is top notch. So helpful if you aren't sure what you want. The ambiance is nice with Greek music in the air. Overall well priced.

I spotted this place while driving to See's Candies and decided to give it a try, so glad I did. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was on point. We were greeted right away, and the whole place had a warm, welcoming, homey vibe. The menu selection is solid. We ordered the beef gyro and the chicken souvlaki plate. The beef gyro was very tasty, the meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The chicken souvlaki was also delicious, but the real standout for me was the hummus. It's made in-house, and you can absolutely tell, creamy, warm, and honestly one of the best hummus dishes I've had. It even brought back memories of Papa Cristo back in Mid-City LA, that's how good it was. If you're craving quality Mediterranean food, don't pass this gem up.

I went to Pita GR since I really needed lunch before a doctor's appointment that was in the same plaza and have been on a Mediterranean kick lately. I decided to give the Lamb Gyro Street Style a try. The portion size was okay. The meat was dry and not much flavor. I probably should have asked for more tzatziki sauce which have helped with that. The fries were good and I really like that they were topped with some cheese. I think it was feta. The staff were very nice abd helpful. The vibe was casual, and relaxing. The restaurant was clean and maintained. I'm glad I tried it but I probably wouldn't try it again unless I'm close by and need something fast.

I absolutely love pita gr! I come here regularly to dine in. On a Thursday evening about an hour before closing, I tried to order online and I think the system was down. Placed a call and was left on hold. I enjoy the food so much, I went to order in person. It did not appear to be busy, cooks and staff looked at me while I waited to order. After almost 10 minutes someone came to take my order. I ordered Zucchini chips, half chicken gyro, and a beef/lamb gyro wrap. Unfortunately the take out was not theirs best quality of food. Maybe because it was close to their closing time. Fried zucchini was burnt and when bit into, it tasted like grease. That was a bummer because their zucchini is one of my favorite dishes. I also did not expect the half chicken to be chopped into tiny tiny pieces like that. I should have asked that before ordering. Overall their food is great when you dine in, I do not recommend take out. Try their zucchini, spicy dip, zeus fries and their chicken skewers! Dine in food is delicious and it's always clean inside the restaurant.

The food is amazing. We had the pork pita and the beef/lamb pita with the Greek salad, the way the flavors blend together in your mouth, the fries had the perfect crunch, will definitely come again. Shoutout to the workers too, super friendly and their recommendations were definitely on point.

came here during my break to get lunch looking for something pretty healthy and honestly this is a good spot. i got a chicken salad it came with garlic fries, pita, and a really good salad with feta and red notions, and lettuce with kale it comes with sauce but tasted really good without it too the portion was also really big so i had a lunch for that day and the next. the fries are thin cut which i love and the seasoning was super good. everything was seriously a nice about to flavor, i don't like my food over seasoned so this was just what i needed. service was pretty fast especially since there were a few orders in while we came. even though i came here for takeout i saw each type of person come in: family, couple, pick up for catering, so they do it all and the vibe is chill yet corporate, it's like greek food made into a fast food restaurant, but i love it cuz honestly we need that, can't just be relying on that trip to vegas to have mad greek lol i'll def be coming back here again

This place was recommended by a Facebook Foodie Page, so I thought I would give it a try as part of my Mediterranean food extravaganza. I tried various dishes at over a dozen Mediterranean restaurants in a 6-month period. The flavors of the gyro were good. But I felt like the protein portion for the gyro was very small compared to gyros from other similar locations. Along with the gyro, I had the Zucchini fries. They looked great, just like the photos I had previously seen online. Unfortunately, they were very oily and greasy and not like I expected. The staff was friendly. Parking was super easy. The price of the gyro was comparable to other similar locations.

My husband and I had a fantastic meal here last night. Having traveled to Greece last year we had high hopes and the food and vibe here certainly delivered. We tried the lamb chops and pork souvlaki, both were cooked perfectly and were delicious in flavor. Loved all the dips and sides as well. We finished our meal with the Baklava which was great too. We will definitely be back to explore the rest of the menu! read more

Honestly my family and I come to this place once a week! We absolutely love it. My personal favorite is the lamb salata. The lamb is delicious and I don't know what they do to that salad but I can't get enough of it. The new beet salad is so good too. Wonderful mix with the walnuts and feta cheese. So glad to have a fine Greek street food restaurant in Downey. read more

Delicious, fresh and quality Mediterranean food! I have passed by the restaurant numerous times, even entered and took a menu, but never ate there. Finally the restaurant was recommended by one of my mom's coworkers when my mom (who is not from the area) was inquiring about good Mediterranean food. All I have to say is I should have eaten here much sooner!!! I was shocked and so very impressed by the food. The beet salad is so amazing, delicious and fresh! This place is a gem. read more

This was our first time trying Pita GR and we were very impressed ! When you enter the decor is very clean, modern, and peaceful. There are fresh, green plants everywhere and a very easy to read menu. The owner is extremely nice and helpful and provided samples of the fresh frozen yogurt for us to try. He is Greek in origin and lives in Greece for many years. The chef and owner is friendly, knowledgeable and endearing. We got our food (pork pita and lamb pita) and the meat was juicy, flavorful, and fresh. We also got the zucchini fries which were lightly battered which a tzatziki sauce. It was delicious! Such a warm and inviting atmosphere and great, authentic food. I would definitely recommend this place :) read more

My second time here and the food is good, but they got my to go order wrong, I'd asked for tomato/cucumber salad with no cheese no sauce, I didn't get that salad, I got a cabbage salad with the Merida which my 10 yr old dont eat sauce. ( sauce just turns her off) So I had to make her something else to eat. read more

I am so in love with everything I've had at this place! They have the most colorful, fresh and mouthwatering salads! Their lamb is tender and perfectly seasoned, no gamey taste to it! The rice is perfection! They have awesome customer service. Although you order your food then sit to eat, there are servers walking around, refilling drinks and taking great care of the customers! Everyone is extremely helpful and friendly. I've been telling everyone to try this place out! read more

I am a big foodie and a picky eater! Pita GR is just amazing!! I have tried an array of their dishes and each one has blown me away! If I could recommend one dish of many it would be the sweet potato salad!!! The grilled halloumi cheese, the crispy garbanzo beans are a fine addition to this salad! I just keep smiling while eating this. I work in the area and have recommended this place to my coworkers. I have even ordered lunch for meetings! My coworkers also now rave about the food. It is mouthwatering, soulful, quality and well thought out! I also appreciate how nicely they package the food to go. Thank you for bringing such a great flare to the area!!!! read more

Ok so I loved Opa, and was sad to see it go. I was relieved to find out another Greek restaurant replaced it and I'm so glad I finally tried it! I ordered the lamb pita sandwich. It had so many delicious chunks of lamb. They sure didn't skimp on meat!And to my surprise it included fries and avocado inside the sandwich! Can't go wrong with that! I didn't try the Greek potatoes, but I watched them cooking under the roasting chicken. The chicken drippings flavoring the potatoes! Oh my! SO GOOD! Honestly haven't had a meal this delicious in a long time! Got the sweet potato pita and could not get enough! I tried the frozen yogurt with baklava and honey also and it was super yummy and spot on! Came with family and we all got something different and everyone was happy. I'm gonna have to come back so I can try all the options I didn't try! The meat looked soooooooo goooooood! I rarely leave reviews but this place deserves to stay open so I'm selfishly writing this so I can come back for years to come! Service was great too! Everyone was very welcoming and helpful. The space is BIG too. You could easily have birthday parties or rehearsal dinners here! LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Thanks for a fantastic meal! read more

It was really nice to see a Greek restaurant on my block. The food is fresh and nicely cooked. It was a good portion too so I was pretty full after I wolfed down my order. The service was amazing -- one of the staff members gave us free dessert when he overheard my conversation with my boyfriend about him never having Greek food before (so lame, I know). He tried it and loved it. I'll be coming back again with another Greek food novice, hopefully sometime soon. Got to spread the fun, and the good food read more

I was there yesterday sharing this jem with my sister. The atmosphere is relaxed. The service is friendly and courteous. The food was delicious. I had the lamb Merida with the tirokafteri dip (Greek cheese roasted hot pepper and oregano). It's the wonderful flavors of Greek food we know (and some we don't) presented in a comforting style. Came here for the first time today. Exceeded all my expectations. Good food good service! My kids got the chicken pita which was a good size portion and it tasted great! My Wife and I got the lamb chops and all I can say is that they were the best we've EVER had!!! Oh and the wine was excellent too! We love this place. My wife and I love Greek food and this place is definitely legit. We were recommended to come here by a friend and we did not regret it. We love the kabobs, humus and pitas. First time here and I can say it is probably the best Greek restaurant in Downey. We were greeted by Valentin, who is one of the owners, which made us feel welcomed in the first minute we were here. We had the lamb chops, and the pork souvlaki, both plates were full of flavor and more than enough food. You have to try the zucchini chips, and perfectly seasoned with a nice light batter. Jaydon was are server, and he was very attentive. We finished the meal with the yogurt topped with baklava.... amazing read more

It's spacious and open, with plenty of parking, making it convenient to visit. The delicious aroma hits you the moment you walk in, and while there were consistent customers eating in, it never felt crowded. Just stopped by Pita GR for some Greek eats and it didn't disappoint. I got the Zeus fries loaded with beef/lamb gyro meat and it was massive - totally hit the spot. What I loved most? They don't skimp on the tzatziki sauce here, unlike other places. The fries were just the right amount of crispy and the gyro meat was spot on - well cooked and seasoned. My wife had the braised lamb pita, which was good, but she kept eyeing my gyro meat. Can't go wrong with the classic. Service was a tad slow giving us our food, but it was all good. It happens sometimes. This was our 3rd time coming here and this seemed like an outlier. The place has a really cozy feel to it with all the warm, bright colors, perfect for this chilly evening. I love all the string lights casting a golden glow. Plus, there's plenty of parking, which is always a win. Prices are reasonable too compared to others. If you're in the area and craving Greek food, Pita GR is definitely worth a try! read more

Finally a little touch of creativity and originality in Downey. I've been waiting for a strong Greek concept to come to Downey. I grew up with lots of Greek friends and have attended the Downey Greek Festival since I was little. Pita GR brings a much needed highly developed menu without the stuffiness of a full service sit down restaurant. The food is incredible. I recommend that you order things "family style". Last time, my friends and I ordered a few different "Kilos" of lamb and pork and a few different sides. It was more than enough to eat but the real treat was the quality of the meat and vegetables. I ordered the chicken gyro with the chef's modern take on it & I just felt it was drenched in sauce, it felt too heavy, the chicken was burnt on one side so it tasted over charred & nothing about the contents of the gyro was fresh. The fries weren't anything to write home about, but I did add an extra star for the customer service because they were pleasant. I was hoping for a chicken gyro with fresh juicy tomatoes inside & some crunch, but unfortunately the flavor profile was one dimensional: salty with a side of burnt. Won't be back. read more

This little gem was quit the experience. After coming back from a trip to Greece this past summer I was thrilled to fined a Modern Greek Restaurant that served all my favorites. My pork "Yeeros" was spot on. The Pita was the perfect chew to fluff and pork belly Yeero inside was the perfect crisp to spice top all that off with that Bomb tzatziki and boom a successful expierence.
