I am a fan of the gyro, but I wish they would not put sweet pickles on them. (Listen chefs). Tpoo may pickles throw off the flavors and really don't belong on there. Stopped by for lunch while I was in Phoenix for work. The people at this office raved about Pita Jungle. So on my last day in Phoenix, I decided to give it a chance. It was such a pleasant experience, by far the best lunch over the last few days. I ordered the gyro and the jalapeño hummus and brought it back to the hotel room. The hummus was perhaps the best I have ever had. I was afraid of it being too spicy but it was perfect. The pita was a little cold but still pretty fresh. They give you so much hummus that I should have ordered an additional pita bread. The gyro was amazing, bursting with flavor upon every bite. I am not able to speak of the dining in experience since I got it to-go. But wow it was great, thanks for an awesome experience Pita Jungle. read more

I always enjoy Pita J. They make healthy,tasty food in a fast casual setting. Today I tried their seasonal superfoods menu- went with the avocado hummus tostada bowl and added 2 falafel. It was the perfect mix of kale, mix in's and creamy yogurt sauce to pair with the avocado and hummus. It's filling but not overly to where you feel too full. My friend ordered a red quinoa salad that looked amazing- it's served with a bed of cilantro hummus and pita or cucumbers on the side. read more

My husband and I had a long weekend and didn't get a chance to go grocery shopping, so naturally we went to our favorite weekend dinner spot and Pita Jungle didn't disappoint. We both ordered our favorite go-to's, his is Chicken del Sol and mine is Pesto Lavosh Turkey Wrap. I try to eat gluten free when I can, so I asked the server about my options and to my surprise the GF Wrap option was actually better than the lavosh Wrap that it usually comes with. The GF Wrap was so soft and a little bit smaller than the Lavosh Wrap, but still just as filling. The server also answered my question about calories/nutrition, which helped me to decide to take home half of my wrap to save for dinner tomorrow night. The service and atmosphere was great too. This place is on the corner of 2 major streets down from the university campus. There's zero parking so we had to find a parking lot and pay for parking. There's an outside eating place and lots of room inside. Went for lunch, got seated by the kitchen and waitstaff area so we could hear staff talking and laughing etc. Not so fun. They weren't that busy so there were other tables open. Immediately our waiter came over with water and menus. Lots of vegan and gluten-free items. Chose the carmelized cauliflower to start and it was pretty good. For lunch I ordered the wood smoked salmon salad. Generous portion of salmon on a bed of fresh mixed greens and balsamic dressing. So delicious! Refills for our iced tea came before we had to ask so wait staff was pretty observant. We didn't feel rushed and it was a pretty good experience. read more

I gave my order to the nice waitress and it arrived in less than 8 minutes, the chicken had grill marks but was lukewarm. Our server, Derek, was super friendly and very attentive. He made sure we had everything we needed without asking. They can get very busy so plan extra time or consider ordering take out. I did the Whole30 diet earlier this year, and I have to say Pita Jungle saved a lot of lazy evenings where I didn't want to cook. You can eat their pine nut chicken (sides menu) since it is cooked in olive oil, lemon juice, pine nuts and spices (non of which involve sugar) and their steamed veggies! Pita Jungle has always been one of my favorite restaurants in Tempe. Yes they have them all over the valley now, but it was the OG location on Apache that started my love affair. Obviously the delicious lavosh schwarma wanted to be closer to my work so he moved to Mill and University so I could enjoy him daily. If I feel like changing it up the portabella burger is always delicious and let us not forget the best damn hummos I've ever tried (any of the multiple varieties). The new location is beautiful - it has a huge open dining room spray painted by what looks like your cooler older brother. It has a couple different bars for those in a rush and an area for take out. I didn't get to see the multiple patios (updates to follow) so I will have to come back and eat a falafel in the sunshine. They happy hour starts at 3pm and includes tons of menu items starting at $3 The new urban hip Mill location just goes to show that some good things never change - food and service were exceptional as always. On a recent visit to the area my work team suggested Pita Jungle for lunch! When we arrived I was pleased to see a very cool restaurant that was very large. The decoration is very Hippy Sheek! The waiter got our drinks and took our orders quickly. The hummus assortment appetizer was amazing! It comes with chunks of Ahi Tuna that I was a big fan of! I ordered the Ahi Tuna salad for lunch as well. First it was beautiful, colorful topped with huge chunks of mango, strawberries and other fruits. Second it tasted great and had a lot of tuna on top! It was just what I needed to get some veggies and protein in my day in a very tasty fashion! I would definitely return to Pita Jungle on future visits to Tempe. the staff was great! Wow, this new location is a huge improvement over the old. I came back here for the cilantro jalapeno hummus, which was memorable from my visit last year. The new location has a much less eclectic, more classy look. Surprisingly, on a Saturday night, we were seated quickly. The restaurant was busy, but not packed and the ambiance wasn't too loud. We had an awesome server who did a great job of checking in and staying on top of things (I wish I remembered his name!). The menu is more simple and easier to navigate than I remember. We started with the aforementioned cilantro jalapeno hummus. My friend got the salmon burger, which he really enjoyed and I got the red quinoa with cilantro jalapeno hummus, which was basically quinoa with greens on the awesome hummus. I also got a side chicken breast. Iced teas were continuously refilled (in these huge tumblers). We finished off with the rice pudding, which was also great. Fabulous experience all around! This Pita Jungle location is very disappointing compared to the other locations around the valley. On my most recent visit, I ordered the salmon entree to go and I was basically given the leftover salmon they had. The entree was tiny and not at all worth $17. The location itself is unwelcoming and cold feeling. Overall, it's a major step back from their old Tempe location and it's not worth visiting. read more

Allow me to introduce myself properly, my name is Mr. Wise. I am a Life Coach, Philanthropist, Book Writer, Public Speaker, Business Owner, Son, Big Brother & lastly, I AM MELANIN. I recently just moved to Arizona from the midwest, in hopes of a fresh start and a better life. I recently was given the opportunity to go to "Pita Jungle" for the first time, and my first experience was the worst and last experience. I'll explain.. Someone very close and SPECIAL to me invited me in hopes I'd make this my new favorite vegan spot (seeing how there is not many, if any, vegan spots up north). As excited as she was to introduce me to something new, I was just as excited to try something new. Walking into the restaurant, it was very clean, and there were not many people at the time we arrived - around 1:37p.m. We had to stand at the front for about 2 minutes before a lady showed us to our seats. Here's where the bad experience come in. Our server walked towards me and my guest with a scourging look on her face, as if she had just seen something disgusting on the floor. (FIRST RED FLAG) She then reached for the menus and asked, "Just y'all two?" We said, "Yes, just us." My guest then asked could we have a booth. Our waitress says, "What do you two need a booth for?" (SECOND RED FLAG) The reason why we wanted a booth didn't matter - the fact was that the restaurant was empty and the booths were available. We then looked at each other in shock. Before we could say anything she huffed and puffed and pointed us towards the both. (THIRD RED FLAG) At this time, I'm thinking like "woah what's her issue." My guest goes, "I think she doesn't like that I'm a white woman with you." At this point I'm starting to not want to eat here, but I don't want to leave because my guest brought me. (And why let one bad apple spoil the tree... Right!?) She asked us if we wanted anything to drink - we both said "Just water please". She then immediately asks us if we know what we want to eat. When we tell her we will need a few minutes to decide, she rolls her eyes and says "Okay I'll be back". At this point I'm observing her attitude in hopes she's gonna make it better. We still don't know her name and really haven't gotten any conversation about specials or anything. 10mins goes by, we've looked in her direction to give her a bit of notice we needed her service. Another couple walked in she approaches them with ease, telling them her name and offering their services and more. As she walks past, I got "Excuse me miss..... Excuse me..?" She never turned her head to acknowledge us. (FOURTH RED FLAG) At this moment my guest is getting very frustrated because she felt as though the lady was intentionally ignoring me. After waiting an additional 5 mins she then comes to our table and asked if we were ready to order. (At this point I'm frustrated and asked my guest to order for me). 15 minutes later we receive our food, both of our water glasses are close to empty if not almost there. She then looks at the cups and gives us our food and we didn't hear from her the remainder of our time there. We had to seat here and eat our food with no water and no service, no one never stopped by to ask if we were okay. At one point I tried to ask for ketchup but didn't get a response whatsoever. By this point we were tired of the maltreatment, so we wanted to leave. However, our server was nowhere to be seen. We kept looking around for 5-10 minutes and then finally found a different server in the bar. We told her about our poor experience and she was kind and very apologetic. We closed our tab and promptly left. We leave this review in hopes it will encourage others to be aware of the mistreatment and discrimination you may experience at this location if you are a minority. We are contacting the manager at this location to also inform them of this situation. As a Melanin individual, being treated this way is very unacceptable. I deal with a lot already being Melanin/BLACK person in AMERICA (LITERALLY). All I wanted was peace of mind while I eat my food. I never got that and I left feeling less then who I was, due to the fact our server treated me like a un-wanted guest. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for any BLACK people or INTERRACIAL couples. You will be treated like a outcast and the customer service will be AWFUL. I will NEVER eat here AGAIN PERIOD. NOR will I suggest this place for any others looking for a piece of mind. SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE THAT VALUES YOUR SERVICE. BECAUSE WITHOUT YOUR SERVICE THEY WOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS. read more
