It turns out I've driven past this cozy Israeli / Mediterranean deli plenty of times while on the Julia Tuttle Causeway. I finally stopped in last night seeing it was the only healthy place open late after visiting my mom in the nearby hospital. Even though they were near closing time, I must say the service was top notch. I never felt rushed, and for that alone they get five stars. Functionally it's a walk up order, and they have seating both inside and on the sidewalk. The creamy hummus I ordered, garnished with tomatoes and onions, tasted fresh, as was the warm and fluffy pita bread served with it. You can tell the bread was made fresh when ordered! The bowl of lentil I ordered was nicely warm and hearty and went along great with the grilled chicken breast. They also have a few prepackaged baked goods, as well as kosher grape juice. read more

Came for a quick bite yesterday before heading to the beach. Ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich with Israeli salad inside and garlic sauce. I waited 15 mins and left without checking the bag. When I got to the beach I was disappointed to see that the salad was missing. It was a huge pita wrap with dried pieces of chicken. I went back to ask for the salad and the guy apologized - said the kitchen must have made the mistake - and gave me the salad. Love the food at this place! The pita bread when toasted (they recommended this) was amazing. But my favorite was the baba ganoush, marvelous! I cannot stop raving about it. I want to go back and take it back with us on the plane to North Carolina. I also had the salmon and rice from the buffet table. They must have been so busy, they paused their online ordering from all methods. Seems like due to they number of people down in Miami Beach taking vacation this week, they were overwhelmed. So we decided to come down and sit for dinner. We only needed to wait about 15 minutes and were seated. The place was indeed a mad house. Since they weren't taking online orders, people were coming in and ordering to take out. They actually had a sign on the door stating "Help Wanted, Reward if found!" sign of the times. They were overwhelmed with all the vacationers, like us, but adding insult to injury, couldn't hire enough help due to the times. We were waiting and noticed that all the people ordering to take out, were getting their orders placed into the system with the kitchen, but the people sitting were still waiting on someone to take our order.. which would mean longer wait times. I politely pointed that out to the owner taking the orders at the counter, and he must have realized that dynamic and quickly sent servers over to us right away. The food did come pretty quickly out to us and the food was very tasty. We had the Hummus and Mushrooms, which was delicious then my daughter got her Caesar salad.. only they ran out of Caesar dressing! We pointed out that its not a Caesar salad without the Caesar dressing. We then got our other food. My wife and I ordered the Beef Shis-Kebob with vegetables and my daughter got her Shawarma platter with fries. The food was really good. The Shish-Kebab wasn't the best I had, but was pretty good. The Shawarma was tastier in my opinion and would opt for that next time. Eventually, they came through with the Caesar dressing and it was very good. The service was up and down, but on a week that is likely the busiest of the year for them and the lack of available help, you could see they tried hard to make the best of the situation. Once the place quieted down, the owner finally got around to speaking with his guests, and making sure all was ok. I nice touch and probably what he does when he is not buried. I stopped by this carry out on my way to grab a bite from Burger King and decided to try something new. I wanted a whopper but got a pork wrap from this place instead. It was decent. Food was great but service was not so great. Someone came out to take our order rather quickly. You can tell it's a family owned business as they had a kid come and deliver our food. Only downside is getting anyone's attention after. They do cater to their friends. Letting them bypass the line and addressing them first, never acknowledging you're there. I waited 20 minutes to pay. They didn't even have my order so I had to recite what I got. O could have fibbed and gave one dish or my family could have just gotten up and left. But we didn't. It was a very long wait for my shawarma plate, especially since I was the only one in the restaurant up until when my order was put into the kitchen. The shawarma was okay, nothing special. However, there were quite a few pieces of cartilage in the meat that took a lot of the enjoyment away from the meal. For the price paid for the meal, I think you could get better portions, higher quality, and faster service elsewhere. Which is where I'll be next time. I hope rather than get upset at the 2 stars, they review their processes and procedures and increase the quality of their products and services. read more

I had the roasted eggplant, simple and delicious with a generous coat of tahini, and a Moroccan Kufta baguette sandwich, which was also delish, smothered with hummus and yummy vinegary salad bits. During the deep days of Stay-at-Home, I wanted my family to give me a break from cooking. We had noticed Pita Loca's nearby location and they chose this as my break. It was well worth it. Unfortunately, I did not like my shawarma pita. I had so many pieces of cartilage in the meat that I gave up trying to eat it. There was very little hummus on the bottom of the pita and very little tahini and Israeli salad on the top, so it was pretty much just pita and meat for most of the sandwich.
