My first visit to AK was on Sunday, July 5. I ordered online and had my daughter pick it up for me. The online experience was just okay. It would be really helpful to have photos for the menu items. This would be especially helpful for newbies and those unfamiliar with the menu or what some of the items are. Other than that, and because I'd looked at photos on Yelp and had menu recommendations from someone, the experience was relatively painless. With that said, remember that I said my first visit was on Sunday July 5... well, my next visit was the following day, Monday July 6. I went back again because I really enjoyed my meal and I wanted my daughter to try it. Now, for the review: Food - On both my first visit I had the combo kabob plate. There's an ample serving of yellow Basmati rice along with four pieces each of beef and chicken, both were nicely seasoned. Also included with the plate is hummus, four pita bread triangles, garlic sauce, and a small side salad. Everything was really good but the garlic sauce is tremendous! I also ordered the spinach and cheese samosas that came with a rather spicy chili sauce (spice is subjective so keep in mind that I'm a little wimpy when it comes spice). The samosas were delicious. Service - Because I enjoyed my first meal so much, day 2 was a total repeat. I had all of the same things. The food was just as good as the first time, however, there were a few items missing from the day 2 bag that had been provided on day 1. There was no chili sauce for the samosas and no garlic sauce. I didn't know how much would be provided when I ordered the first time so I got an extra garlic sauce. Turns out I didn't need the extra but I ate it anyway :-). The online menu doesn't provide descriptions (or photos) but the condiments were provided with my first order but neither (garlic or chili) were included with my second, identical order. The second order also didn't have any utensils. Overall - I had a very good experience with AK. I would return and I would recommend it to others. My very minor complaint, if condiments are included, a final check of the bags for completeness will help customers to not be disappointed when they get home and sit down to have their meal. read more

I lived near Glendale for a long time back in the day, and Levantine food around Pedro has been pretty disappointing, so I was happy to see this place pop up. I ordered delivery and it came quickly. We tried the wraps (chicken kabob and shawarma) and we really loved the seasoning/sauce, but felt that the vegetables were a bit lacking. Lots of meat though, and the pita is actually decent. Tried the cucumber salad, but it's pretty underwhelming. The dressing is somewhat bland compared to most mediterranean styles, and the veggies are in big chunks. Next time I will opt for the pickles! I have now tried their food thrice. Thinking they were new and needed a few months to get on their feet - I wanted to be supportive of a new small business in my neighborhood. However, the food is simply terrible. It's not even Mediterranean or Persian. Too salty - which tells me that it is not fresh and they are preserving their meat forever. Second, there is no flavor. I hate leaving unfavorable reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience. I was genuinely surprised to see so many positive reviews because my experience was quite different. For the price, the portions were very small, especially the lamb dish. Unfortunately, the lamb was also dry and overcooked, which made it even more disappointing. I expected a quality meal and better value for what was charged. The rice and hummus were flavorless and lacked the seasoning and freshness I was expecting. Came here to try the food since I'm a local and I love Mediterranean food. It was so so delicious! I got the chicken kabob plate and it was so much food! The chicken was flavorful, tender, and juicy. The rice went so well with it. The hummus was full of flavor and the side order of pita bread was warm and fresh. I did not care so much for the dressing on the side salad. It was very bitter tasting to me, but that just may be a personal preference. The service was great, and the wait wasn't too long. There were only a couple customers when I dined here so the promptness of the food was nice. There is minimal seating inside but there are plenty of tables outside the restaurant. It is very small inside so I recommend sitting outside and getting some fresh air :) I will definitely be coming back to dine here. read more

I am so excited to finally have some Mediterranean food in San Pedro. They have a very white selection I chose the beef plate and an order of the zucchini fries. I was really hungry, so I forgot to take a picture of my food, but everything was delicious. Portion sizes were generous too. I couldn't even finish all of my food. The zucchini fries were so addicting. I love that. I can now get zucchini fries without all the greasiness. We'll definitely be back. Inside is pretty small, but luckily they have the outdoor seating. They do take a while for your food, but that's only because they make it fresh and I don't mind waiting for fresh food. read more

When I first saw the sign that this place was going to open up, I was so excited because I love Mediterranean food. There aren't very many places I would call amazing in town so this one was exciting. I visited the 2nd day they opened so it wasn't running super smoothly yet. You can order at the counter or through the kiosk. I opted to order through the kiosk and ordered the Alibaba combo or whatever it's called. I subbed the hummus for baba ghanoush but their system didn't read it right so they gave me hummus. When I brought it to their attention they happily just gave me a side of baba ghanoush and let me keep the hummus. Everything was very flavorful. The garlic sauce was super yummy. The rice was a bit dry but maybe they just need to get used to their equipment. My only complaint is that it's a little pricey but I think most places are a bit pricey these days. The service was pretty friendly but it took a while to get the food. I'm sure it will get better. The place is small but clean. Anyway I'll definitely come back during lunch since they have some lunch plates I want to try out. read more

Really solid spot. Seems to be the first solid Mediterranean spot in the area in a while. Chicken kabob wrap was awesome, so much juicy meat with a perfect slight char flavor. Fries also were great! Theres seating outside which is great but inside seating is limited to 1-2 spots. This is definitely a grab and go or sit outside spot which I dont mind. Mediterranean culture is rooted in freshness, community, and connection to the earth, so relying entirely on single-use plastic feels like a major disconnect from those values. In a time when so many restaurants are making efforts to be more sustainable, this approach is disappointing. I would absolutely come back for the food--but only if they make meaningful changes toward more environmentally responsible practices. Great new Mediterranean place in Pedro. Staff was super friendly and orders come out fairly quickly. I ordered the chicken and steak kabobs and both were delicious. I thought I'd try this place for the first time because it looked new. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Their food wasn't that great. To be honest, the meat was on the drier side. And not seasoned very well. The hummus was okay, the salad portion size in the plates are small. And it comes with a small bread. For the quality, the food is WAY too overpriced. For two plates and baba ganoush I spent nearly $75! And the plates weren't even that big! Save your money please. The only good thing was the parking. This place is terrible!! Placed an order online. My husband goes down to pick it up. And they never received the order! His card was charged. So then he has to sit there for over 20 minutes while they make the food. When he finally comes back home of course one of our orders is incorrect all chicken instead of chicken and beef and it's correct on the receipt. My husband calls the restaurant and the lady that answers the phone blames the kitchen. He went down to get the correct item. I am so excited about all the new places opening around town. It's like a small refresh for the town after years of having the same places to go to or small businesses not bringing in enough traffic and then closing down. However I have high hopes for the new eateries on western! I have tried all of them and have been waiting for this place to open. Well just happened to be in the area when I finally seen people outside and in the restaurant so decided to try it for lunch. I am a huge fan of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food (I say both because I feel they're so similar!) one thing I really liked about this place is that they offered bowls. Usually when I order a kabob it's for a plate and costs more, so I appreciate that the bowl was a smaller portion and half of what I'd pay for a plate elsewhere. Perfect for quick lunches! Staff is friendly and attentive. Being such a fan of this type of food, sadly I'd have to say I was not so impressed by my first order! But it wasn't horrible, I didn't like that the salad didn't have dressing in the bowl and I was not too fond of the rice, but the garlic sauce (toum) makes everything better! I'll definitely be back to give it another try and see what else the menu has to offer! The place is small and clean as it just opened, it was lively with a lot of customers trying it out, who looked satisfied with their orders so I wish them well and happy to see new business around town. :) read more

Had a chance to experience Alibaba Kabob this afternoon. Wife and I ordered plates. They both came with plenty of food to try. I ordered the veggie kabob with a side chicken kabob. The veggies were placed on top of a bed of yellow rice. Now the vegetables were grilled very well seasoned good and flavorful. The rice was just plain. The chicken Kabob was a little on the dry side with little to no flavor. The Garlic paste was very good. The Humus was good as well everything did seem fresh. The pita bread was soft and warm. The service was good. Smiles and a pleasant demeanor. Inside or outside it was clean and nice. I would return. Plenty of room for improvement. read more

So, I just discovered by looking at my receipt that they charge 3% to use a credit card. I looked around and didn't see a sign disclosing this. Food is great and folks are nice, just should be transparent with fees before charging them. This is an update to the owner's response: To be clear, I was charged the 3% fee--don't try to slough that off. Most people don't look at the window when they are inside ordering and paying. The sign should be clearly displayed at the counter or how about when you ask cash or credit, you add a few words like, "there is a 3% fee for card". Also, yes, my choice is to either pay cash or credit OR not frequent your establishment. Hmmm, I wonder which one I'll choose. read more

With prices skyrocketing eating out is becoming a luxury. So you have one time to deliver rude lackluster service and I won't return. The woman at the counter was just that. She Clearly didn't want to help me and when I came back to pick up my food it was sitting on the counter. I showed her my number , she read it aloud and stared blankly out the window while another man helped the kid with the number after mine. Let's just say the looked alike. All she had to do was hand me my food. She didn't even check to see if it was mine. So my POC, save your money. When I got home I still wanted to give the food a fair shot. NOPE. Bland, tasteless and Way overpriced. This is the new thing now but will be deserted like most of the new, yet bad SP restaurants soon.
