Avocado toast, caprese sandwich, iced vanilla lattes
    Anthony H.

This was my first visit to Pitango and I dropped in on a Saturday morning for breakfast. We ordered the avocado toast, Caprese sandwich, and iced to vanilla lattes. Everything was made to order and super fresh. I loved the walnuts and drizzle of honey on the avocado toast. The coffee had a nice flavor to it. Dupont is their only location that serves sandwiches. They have a ton of options for gelato as well. There was a ton of seating and space to bring a laptop and get some work done. The location was central in the Dupont neighborhood. Parking is a bit tricky, but there is paid street parking available.

Delicious gelato in Adams Morgan. I always on the hunt for grapefruit sorbet and was excited to see it on the menu. We tried the strawberry sorbet, mango sorbet and grapefruit sorbet. All three were amazing, with strong fruit flavor. The prices were a bit high but worth it for the quality gelato.

Red Sandwich! The best. Prosciutto, egg and avocado on the best focaccia you'll ever eat.

We first knew Pitango as the place for gelato. The best gelato, period, hands down. Not over sweet, not so sugary or with artificial flavors. Wonderful flavors that get better with every bite. It's the only gelato in town. But then, they added their bakery. Their focaccia is THE best focaccia. Not too thick, not too thin, good char on top, tomato perfectly infused, amazing chew and not overly spiced. The Red sandwich is the best IMO. Egg, prosciutto, avocado on the focaccia. Simple, fresh, absolutely the best thing you could put in your face. I'd like to be trapped in a room with the exit blocked by Red sandwiches so I could eat my way out. Oh, and not to bury the lead, but their coffee is among the best in town too. The latte, never too milky, bold bold malty coffee flavor, not burnt, not floral fruity. Cant go wrong here. Go! NOW!!

One of the most delicious pistachio gelato I've had! I do agree it's on the pricier side, but good enough to indulge. My husband got the tamarind flavor and it was a perfect combination of tartness and sweetness! Staff were nice and allowed us to sample one or two flavors. Will return!

Love gelato, but a little bummed Pitango did not hit the spot after seeing all of the highly rated reviews. Customer service was great and the man behind the counter was friendly and let us try a few samples before we made our final decisions. I got pistachio and hazelnut (my go-to gelato flavor) but while they did taste exactly like the nuts, they were just cloyingly sweet. I also noticed it when I was sampling the different creamy as well as sorbet flavors. The price completely shocked me because the smallest size was $7.50 and after tip, one small size was almost $10 which is wild. Besides the gelato, Pitango also sells good-looking sandwiches and other Italian treats. They even have a temperature controlled box for their Prosciutto di Parma from Italy, which caught my eye instantly. I didn't get to try any of their other food items this time, but I'd come back and try one of their homemade sandwiches.

Was the gelato good. Yes. Was it out of this world good? NO. It was decent. I ordered the smallest portion (very very VERY small). Which is fine because I just wanted enough to try but not to consume too many calories. The reason it gets 3 stars is the price--$10 for the smallest gelato serving in the world should be a crime. I really can't stress how small this little cup was (see picture. For scale, I'm a woman with very small hands). I'm still in shock and before you come for me I lived in LA and DC for years. I understand things are more expensive in cities--but this was truly astounding. This shouldn't cost more than 6 bucks and that's me being generous.

Amazing and spacious coffee shop with gelato! Would recommend sitting on the outside patio of the weather is nice. The staff were so nice and speedy. I'd highly recommend for a traditional macchiato.

I first came here an iced hazelnut coffee, and it was super Duper good! And then I came back for a salmon toast, which was absolutely amazing! It had so much flavor in it with the beets and the toast and a salmon and the cream cheese were also such a good combination!! I also got banana bread! The banana bread was super Duper good good ! The place is just pricey, but it's kind of worth it if you're just looking to splurge! The service was really good. Everything came out really fast. The ambience is that it's like a fast casual place. It's like a come and go coffee shop but they have a ton of sitting in there and I saw people doing work as well with the Wi-Fi.

I'm always looking for a new dessert shop in town, and this has to be one of my favorites!! I got the hazelnut and espresso flavors. It was $7, which was a little pricey compared to other places but definitely worth it. The flavors were extremely rich! There's not that much seating inside, but people usually hang around outside, especially in the nice weather. The staff was very nice as well. I will definitely be back for some more gelato!

    Salmon Toast and Oatmilk Lattee!

The salmon toast was simply amazing. Well balanced flavors, perfectly toasted with both crunch and a little chew. Super relaxed atmosphere. Very polite crew working too

I tried the pistachio and the cardamom flavors. Both were delicious and the service was great!

The hostess told us we likely wouldn't sit until 9:45 so I inquired about the bar and the manager quickly stepped in to put us on a waitlist. Since the restaurant is connected to a food hall of sorts, she recommended we grab a drink there while we wait. Shortly after we got our drink, we received notification of an opening and were seated by 8:15. We had the burrata appetizer, Ragú x 2, and the seafood fra diavolo. The burrata was one of the best I've had since they serve it with pesto, pine nuts, and garlic bread. It was truly divine! The Ragú was not far behind. Incredible flavor and a generous portion. The seafood dish had a nice kick and had plenty of seafood, which is not common as of late. All dishes were also priced reasonably for the quality you received. As we sat at the bar, we had pleasant conversation with the bartender and finished our meal with a small cannoli that really sealed the deal. If you're looking for excellent Italian food in DC without breaking the bank, look no further than Caruso's grocery! Heard the focaccia was a hit, so asked for some of that. I was told they didn't have any left. Which was weird, because then another server came and asked if I wanted bread. I'm glad I said yes because the focaccia is very fresh and was a great addition to the meal. For my main, I ordered the vodka pasta, which was very flavorful and very saucy. I love a good, thick vodka sauce and that's what you'll get here. The one part of the pasta I didn't really enjoy was the chicken inside the pasta. I think I would've preferred a grilled chicken option instead of the chicken that comes in the pasta. That being said, this place is a gem. The prices are great and the portions are hearty.
