My cold was raising its ugly head at me and I couldn't face making dinner after soccer so the whole family went to Pitfire. Ordered for 5 people sat down and finally the food comes and it hits me I forgot about the dressing (randomly had a salad at a pizza place).. having mega major allergy.. so finds out that sure thing I can't eat it. I mean it looked so good. So annoyed with myself, felt super crappy and it just was not a good moment. However in that moment the manager (I believe) swooshed in, fixed me another yummy salad and just made my evening so wonderful and it was so nice and kind of him to fix something that was my fault. Place isn't bad. But it's not great either. Service seems off every time I come. Once they only brought us one set of silverware even tho there were 3 in my party. Another time we asked for some waters, and they never brought them. I don't mind the concept of ordering at the front, but if you're going to have servers, please have them do it. Or at least have a self service station for silverware and water. Food is decent too. Bathrooms are always clean, there's always enough parking when I come too. We decided to DoorDash this one before organizing a family convergence on this place. Sadly, the latter will not be happening. The Margherita pizza was like a thin sheet of cardboard dappled with four sad leaves of brown basil and a few dollops of cheese that looked like someone painted them on a dried tomato canvas - absolutely no flavor and very skimpy toppings. This pizza was bad even by US roadside gas station standards, let alone the scrumptious assemblages made in Italy. The fire roasted vegetables were precisely that, something that were once vegetables but rendered mushy baby food by too much heat. The best thin crust mushroom pizza around, with lots of flavor. Happy hour is good with a great old fashioned. Kale salad is a must if you love salad. So far the seasonal pizzas haven't lived up to the same standards as the mushroom pizza though. A great place for families and kids too. read more

I love Pitfire Pizza. I was a fan of PizzaRev until I discovered this idividual artizan pizza gem. The biggest plus to Pitfire that although their pizza is pretty thin they somehow manage not to burn the crust. In comparison Pizza Rev has always burned sides. Sadness. We bought a couple of pizzas for carry out. First of all the Big Sur was quite good. Well flavored and cooked. We also bought the Burrata Pie. I honestly don't think it was even cooked. It was so soggy and cold, it appears to have been prepped and placed in the box. It only evidence of it being cooked was the outer crust was hard. Also the cauliflower was very flavorful. I cannot recommend based on my experience with the Burrata Pie. Since it was I pick up, I did not run back for another pizza, it was easier to just toss it. read more

We sat at the bar and Tim was great helping us choose what would fit for our drinks of choice. Super creative, sweet, and helpful! In addition to the wonderful food they have a full bar with a moderate selection of great local craft beers and a decent happy hour as well, but my favorite part about the joint is that if you are not a fan of the "Cali-casual" style of service you can eat and drink at the bar with Tim for a magnificent full service experience. Ordered 3 pizzas with glutton free crust, a salad, and a large bowl of soup. The soup came first, navy bean, it looked good but tasted bland, not much flavor at all, no one ate it. The pizzas came and they were pretty lame, the glutton free crust tasted like frozen, cardboard box flavor. This place prides itself in homemade dough. I should have asked if the crust was frozen before ordering, i just assumed. No one ate much and wasn't worth taking home. The salad had way too much vinegar in the over sugared dressing. There was a hair in the melted cheese on one pizza. The sausage tasted good. Noisy atmosphere wasn't helped with their DJ playing his beats over the bad acoustics. Some people like large screened TV's surrounding the dining rooms with sports games, but for me it becomes distracting when in good company of friends and family. I counted 18 employees and 42 guests, that's almost a 2:1 ratio but no waiters to take table orders, it was a order at the counter style restaurant which to me, doesn't make sense. The bill was $85. for three small pizzas; one soup; one salad and one beer. We left with frowns. When doing a pizza restaurant, it better be outstanding because there is a lot of pizza competition nearby. This place was not good, but had a trendy aesthetic to mask the lack of quality in the food. Will never return. read more

The food is pretty good. I guess my biggest complaint is for two pizzas, two beers and a small salad, $63? lol....I might as well as just gone to LGO Pizzaeria/La Grande Orange and had a beter tasting pizza. The fire pit is nice outside and I heard they have a good happy hour. I hope they continue to do well. This pizza is overpriced and over-hyped. Ordered the mac and cheese with enthusiasm (the $10 price ticket hinted at greatness?) and was rudely disappointed. The most insipid plate of tough, chewy pasta ever served. The pizza was alright, but for the size and toppings distribution, heavily overpriced. One more thing, I had to walk to the bar to obtain a straw. Service has been left to self-important, self-involved youth that, because the restaurant was EMPTY except for our table, sat on bar stools trying to be as "hip L.A. kids" as they could be. First time at this location and a bit indecisive on what to get, off the bat server Suzy suggested the Big Sur. So. ON POINT. Very delicious. I wanted to finish the whole thing but was glad to take some with. Also big applause to Suzy for being a dope mixologist and making me a gin and lemonade (and I think a spritz of Sprite), it was amazing. Trying SO-O-O-O-O desperately to be "hip". The true test comes down to the pizza, which SUCKED so bad. While the crust was cooked well (read - blackened), the center was limp and underdone. Been to this location may times. Service is always good, food is consistent and drinks are always nice and cold. My favorite pizza is the sausage party pizza, has all the meats and it's a very tasty. The sides and appetizers are great. Grilled broccoli and grilled caulifower are the best plus the chicken meatballs are filling. The outside patio is the best when u want to eat outdoors. Everything was great, but maybe you need to invest in a better pizza cutter...when grabbing a slice I got 1 and a half slices (which means it wasn't a clean cut and tore a half a slice from the one next to the one I grabbed) and someone was left with a half slice...works for me but not really for the other read more

Atmosphere was great, service was great, and the food was delicious. The dessert was to die for. The cookie tasted like it was straight out of the oven and the homemade ice cream was perfect. I had my daughter's birthday pizza-making party there and it was great! 15 5-year olds making pizza! The chefs came out and showed the kids how to stretch the dough and put on the toppings. They were super patient and nice to the kids... The serving staff was really helpful. The manager Kelly went out of his way to make us happy and was involved the whole way through. We also ordered pasta, salad and sangria for the grown ups. It turned out great! It was a bit more than I was hoping to spend, but it was pretty stress free and I could actually talk to the grown ups so I'd say it was worth it. (I don't want to forget the bar... This Pitfire location really ruined my opinion of the chain. First the woman at the order counter overcharged my card- $26 for a non-service restaurant for pasta and a beer? Wait it gets better. So after about 5 minutes with the manager who managed to cancel the charge, (meal still totaling $22) we went to seat ourselves. When they brought us our beer, all beers ($7 per beer) were served in tulips, including my low alcohol 4.8% populist IPA. This has never happened to me before, being served a half-beer but being charged for a full beer. So I complained and asked to speak to the manager. He said their "beer program" decreed that all IPAs be served in tulips. What a line of bs. And ew gross corporate speak. So I will not return to Pitfire. I am boycotting them. Which is too bad for them since I work across the street from their downtown location and will encourage all of my coworkers to do the same. You don't cheat your customers like that. Found this new pizza place on yelp. Yelp does a great job most of the time however, bambino cafe down the street does not even compare to pitfire and it's a 4.5 star. In that case, Pitfire deserves a 5 star. The pizza crust looks and tastes like it was made in italy. You can watch them make your pizzas. There are many pizza topping choices even arugula. Salad menu looks great too. Beer and lemonade choices rock! The servers were very attentive. Would recommend to anyone. read more

The atmosphere and service is excellent. .. the prices aren't bad and the food is great...I tried five of their pizza's pepperoni, cheese, white pie, field mushroom, and the burrata...with each pizza, the sauce and toppings are pronounced over the dough..especially the field mushroom... I also tried the mac and cheese and the pitfire steak panini...both were excellent and the organic soft serve ice cream was a perfect complement to the rest of the menu. and I would recommend pitfire artisans pizza to anyone who asks. read more

I've enjoyed the Pitfire in North Hollywood a few times. Always enjoyed myself. Somehow I've never been in this one but stopped in with the family after stressful day and was pleasantly greeted by an incredibly friendly and cool staff, a doting manager, and comforting and tasty food. Very homestyle and yet still foodie ready. A bunch of written in menu items (a lot of heirloom tomatoes today!) let me know they're really paying attention. The biggest surprise though was how kid friendly. My kids can be a lot of work at a restaurant, but between the coloring books, the connect four (all wood!), and the spacious interior, it was easy and kind of fun. I can't wait to go back. read more

I went out of my way to eat here and bought the hype: Woodfired, Artisan, blah, blah, blah. I ordered a Margherita pizza and it was at best far below my expectations. I would actually prefer CPK's Margherita pizza over this one. The environment was much better than the food. That's pretty much the hype here. You can hang out and I'm sure it gets really busy at night. Everything looks clean and done proper like a new age hipster place for you and your 20 somethings buddies to have a few beers and kick back. Killer website with good pictures of food. That's all part of the draw and hype. As I said, the food does not even come close. I did like the root beer which was good but that's about it. Having eaten at Settlebello's neopolitan pizza in Pasadena, my expectations were huge. If Settlebello's is a hypothetical 10/10 then this place would be like a 2/10. I really wanted to eat here and hoped I'd be blown away but I left there thoroughly underwhelmed. The pizza had crushed tomatoes which didn't really go with the pizza and the cheese was just sort of there but not really blending in and the crust was not that enjoyable. This was the most pleasant dining experience I've had in a long time!! Not only was the service very warm and friendly but the food was absolutely exquisite!! My mom and I were looking for a place to have a quick lunch and boy did we pick the right place!! We ordered the chicken mushroom cavatappi (AMAZING!!), the folded chicken pizza (delicious), the sausage pizza (delicious), and the house salad was exceptionally good with a very light but flavorful dressing.
