Just tried it for the first time and can't say I was thrilled. The place is pretty comfortable and the friendly staff and service are impeccable. Unfortunately, The sausage pizza I ordered was somewhat pricey for counter service ($11) and I was disappointed when I got it. The sausage itself was delicious, but there wasn't much of it. As soon as we pulled in, we had a parking spot -- it was perfect timing at its best. They have a decent size lot, so there are several spots available --- it was dark upon arrival, so I'm not certain if they have street parking as well. The customer service here is overkill for me. This is one of those funky places that is an in between of serving and doing it yourself. You place your own order, pay -- and then servers bring you your drinks and food (as well as refills). Servers are running around like crazy. I much rather get my own refills at an establishment like this --- especially since we had to wait for refills (even for a brief time). There is some sort of bar in the middle of the restaurant -- its really weird to me. It was an expensive pizza for what you get; we had the sprout bacon pizza and pepperoni pizza. The sprout pizza had pretty good flavors and a little spice to give you a kick; the pepperoni was pretty ordinary. You don't get a lot of toppings for the price you pay. Overall: this a cute establishment and its an okay pizza place. My husband and I won't be back. You'll get more bang for your buck at other pizza establishments. read more

Pitfire Pizza beats out every other pizza restaurant in Pasadena. I ordered the super kale pizza and added the house fennel sausage to it. Pure perfection! The crust had the typical crunchiness associated with a brick oven pizza. Unlike other restaurants that serve personal pizzas my pizza was not soggy in the middle at all! The management and staff were extremely attentive to the needs of my table. The ambiance was also great. The open floor plan was comfortable and it's great for large groups of people. This is a review for the happy hour. My three kids and I happened to hit Pitfire at the perfect time. 30 minutes left of happy hour and a pretty quiet restaurant. The pizza was a good thin crust pie, we stuck to the happy hour menu so were limited to cheese or pepperoni for $5. The Mac and cheese was awesome and also $5. Our server was nice and the guys making the pizzas were extra nice to the kids. It is a small happy hour menu, with 5 or 6 items for $5 each and a half dozen or so drink specials. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming and the smell of the food made our mouths water! We ordered the Big Sur pizza, it was delicious and worth the wait! Our server Arlani was amazing! I'm a regular here. Though they get my salad orders wrong more than a few times when I order pick up, they really have delicious food. Recently had a large dinner party there (over 15 ppl) and they did a really good job, food again was beyond amazing and was a hit with everyone. And we have some picky eaters!! Had the chicken pasta...it was a bit dry and tasteless. I went nuts covering it with parmesan cheese just for some flavoring. The ice cream cookie dessert was nothing special, especially for $6. It's a hard piece of cookie with a scoop of soft serve...I think if the cookie had been soft and warm it would've made a difference, but it was hard and cold. We got there at around 430 and the place was empty and easy to find an open seat. Sat there chatting until 7pm and as the night progressed, the music got louder and louder, to the point where we could not longer have a conversation. Nice place for families, very spacious and child friendly. there's parking in the back but looks like it'd be hard to get a spot during dining hours. Servers were all attentive and friendly. But probably wouldn't go back for the pasta, might go back to try the pizza. read more

I camped out at Pitfire Pizza for a few afternoons/evenings this week to get some grading done for my courses. Not only was the food delicious (especially their seasonal vegetable offerings like their grilled broccolini & asparagus), but the service was also great. We love this place!! It feeds everyone's needs in my family. My husband and I can have salads, the kids can have pizza FB they even have vegan cheese for my daughter who has a dairy allergy. The food is delicious and the service is very friendly! It's way better than the other build your own pizza places. It's a little noisy, but super kid friendly and there are always lots of families! Came in for a late lunch on a Thursday. Great pizza! So-so customer service. There were only 4 occupied tables when I arrived, I stayed for over an hour, and there were only 2 occupied tables by the time I left. In that time period, nobody came to ask if I needed anything (I did and had to go find someone) or whether I would like a refill or a glass of water when my glass had been empty for 40 minutes (red pepper on pizza calls at least for H2O) and there were employees standing around and sitting at the counter. Pretty good, went with wife and son for a quick weekend lunch. Amazing? No, but pretty good. Vibe: I would give this is a solid 3.5, I like the look and feel and there is bar which is great. Although if I was running around alone or with my boys I don't think I would make this my spot for a beer and pizza because it's a little too family orientated for that and a little off the desired location for fun. But overall it was solid for an hour with the family. Good if you have noisy kids and you don't care about others being bothered. Food: It was okay (2.5 rating) , not great not bad just okay. I had the pizza (meat lovers something or another), the chopped salad and the meatballs. I had to keep putting the various hot sauces on the food to make it taste better, without it I thought it was on the bland side. I did look for some salt at a certain point but none was found. Blood orange drink was good. Here is where I might have run into an issue, my wife found a hair in our salad which I just grabbed and threw on the floor. I didn't say anything to the restaurant because I didn't want to cause a stir but I am fairly certain it was a short thick hair (yeah kind of nasty). But that just happens so I can't fault you too much for that. Bathrooms: (1 rating) clean up your act boys, it was kind of nasty in there for 12pm! And no napkins. Service: (3 rating), you did a good job on this. Your people are trained pretty well, they smiled and were attentive. I actually felt kind of guilty about not tipping more but they didn't do all that much for me except bring out my food and water and bring me a box after. I don't think I can do 15% for that. ROI/Value: (2.5 rating) here is where I struggle the most. After a few days I realize we spent $52 dollars for above (including $4 tip) and that was rather expensive for a lunch with my wife and a 3 year old. Not sure how many times I would come back at that price point. It just wasn't that good to merit spending $50 for lunch. Sorry I wish it was but didn't get there. Bottom line: if I had to do a big family or friends with kids dinner I would consider this place but I would fear spending $200 and not having anything to really do after because of the location. But it would definitely be on the maybe list, maybe. Rounding up to a 3 rating because I don't think 2 would be fair but tighten it up boys and watch the seasoning, bathroom conditions and hairs falling from your crew. read more

Overall, I think Blaze, 800 Degrees, and similar places offer better pizza, and at lower prices to boot. The crust was terrible - a little too doughy, and too dry tasting, with no good char either. I think calling it "artisan[al]" is a bit of a stretch. Toppings were also not great. Overall, even if their other locations have been around for a while, the place seems like style over substance, and the prices are way too high for the level of quality offered. Beer selection was not particularly to my liking either. The play-dough offered for kids is a great idea, and our daughter had fun playing with it. read more

Good food, nice décor, kids meals pricy We've been here twice. The first time the pizza was just ok... sauce didn't have much flavor. On our most recent trip, the pizza was great. The booths are nice and there is a lot of seating. I thought this would be a great place to take kids... the meals they said are around $5-6. What I didn't realize is that for a kids lemonade they charge $3 each plus $1.50 for a pizza topping. So that puts a kids meal at $9.50 for a drink and pepperoni pizza. That seems like not a great deal, but it was a nice size pizza. I like the food but at $36 for an adult and two kids seems like a lot. read more

So my experience was unusual. I called in and the man who answered the phone to take my order was RUDE he asked me for my first and last name. I provided him with that info along with my order. Once I got there that same guy gave me the order and remained unpleasant! He told me to watch out for chalk drawings on the floor, why would you draw on the floor if people can't walk on it?! I've been on a quest for good pizza. I was amazed at how good the pizza is at Pit Fired Artisan Pizza. As far as I am concerned, I need good bread and good sauce and the rest of the add ons will take care of themselves depending on what you like. Pit Fired has the best chewy crispy pizza dough I've had in memory. Excellent. The sauce is nice tangy Tomato with the right amount of seasoning. My wife loves the veggie pizza specials like Eggplant and Brussel Sprouts for good reason, they are excellent as are the pepperoni and Margarita pizzas I've had. The Caesar Salad is very good to complement the pizza. I want to explore the menu but just have to order pizza. We came in for a week day lunch a while back and there was a kids party going on. The chef came out and helped the kids construct their own pie. It was very cute and fun to watch. I give the food high marks. I also have to give the bare/techno/minimalist decor about two stars but then the service is excellent and you don't eat the chairs. read more

So I've been going to this place fairly regularly now and I have to admit, the food is pretty good. The food comes out rather quickly, served nice and hot, ingredients always taste fresh, portion sizes are above average, and the staff is friendly. So far I've had the sausage party pizza, pepperoni pizza, their hand-crafted chicken meatballs, and grilled broccolini. Can't go wrong with any of those, but their salads do look really good too.
