    cheese please!

Pizza baby is a home run of flavors. The perfect crust is just right amount of crunch with a flavorful sauce, that is perfect with cheese, or add another dimension of flavors with the in-house made sausages. Yes!! Pizza baby is a must try! You thank me later!

    Manila Clam perfection

Grabbed the Manila Clam and the Pineapple Princess and OH MY GODDDD WHAAAAAT!!! Best new pizza place in town! Loved both, but ESPECIALLY the Manila Clam, I was nervous about a seafood pizza but every element is in balance and it just HIIIITS. My husband and fought for the last piece. Don't sleep on the PP either, the pineapple chutney really knocks it into another class! Can't wait for more but please don't make the clam only seasonal!

The charcuterie boards here are perfection, do not sleep on it and be sure to savor the onion jam. That said, one of my favorite things to get is the roasted root vegetable plate, that combo with the yogurt and honey is some fine dining action, though you should absolutely skip adding the sausage. Getting a flight is usually the way I go, but then I often end up getting a full glass of my favorite from there. Such a gem in DTC and I hope it stays forever!

The location has a spacious area filled with a variety of wine options. I picked a Bourgogne Chardonnay from France ($36). We came on a late Monday afternoon and, lucky for us, they have a bar special on Mondays: No corkage fee! They also have Happy Hour-- Monday to Friday from 3-6pm. The Chardonnay was divine! I would totally return and purchase another bottle. We also ordered a charcuterie board and took advantage of their happy hour special for $20 (pick two-- one cheese and one meat). We opted for the 'Humboldt Fog' Chèvre as our cheese option and the Bresaola for our meat option. Both were delicious, but the chèvre was truly exquisite. We shared one charcuterie board with five people and it was enough; however if you're on the hungry side, I suggest two charcuterie boards for five or six people. In addition to meat and cheese, it comes with crackers, some pickled veggies, onion jam, candied nuts, whole grain Dijon, and apple slices. On the left side of the venue you have your variety of wine options; on the right side, there's the bar and some tables, plus a small area with other snacks for purchase that pair nicely with wine or beer. They even sell the Torres truffle chips! My only complaint is the service, unfortunately. The lady at the cashier was super friendly, however the bar tender was not so welcoming. When he came over to our table to open our wine bottle, he didn't greet us, smile, or say anything. He took our bottle and opened it and then asked who was going to taste. Not sure if he thought we didn't speak English since we were speaking another language when he came to our table, but overall, we all noticed his attitude and thought it was rather unwelcoming. Because of this experience, I rate this place a 4/5, however, everything else was great!

One of the best parts about being a working professional is the occasional dinner out with your colleagues. My boss was in town and wanted to take a few of us out and chose Wally's for the occasion. This place is definitely so LA, when we walked in the doors were held for us and we were quickly greeted and seated by the lovely hostess. After talking shop and perusing the menu, we opted for a bottle of bordeaux. Super delicious and served in super classy, giant and thin wine glasses. To start, we had hummus, the endive salad, and the baked brie. Everything was delicious! My favorite being the endive salad and baked brie. The salad was tossed in a delicious vinaigrette with walnuts and cheese. The baked brie was great served in toasty bread and shaved truffle on it. The truffle made the brie super flavorful. For my main, I opted for the Steak Frites. Cooked perfectly medium rare (more rare than medium - my favorite way to ask) with yummy french fries and all of the bearnaise + ketchup. Totally great! Great meal at Wally's! It was great catching up in a beautiful setting with wonderful food and awesome staff. Looking forward to visiting again!

I got to the shop ahead of my friend and asked the lady at the register if I could purchase two wine tastings and that one would be for a member. She said that she could not look up my friend's name and that she would have to pay in order to get the discount. So rather than letting me do a nice thing before she arrives I have to now wait for my girlfriend to show up. As I was walking away, the gal then asked me for her name, which wouldn't that go to prove that she is a member and wouldn't that have allowed me to purchase the two tastings? She even said "I'm sorry to be annoying" to which I replied yes, that is very annoying. The woman doesn't have much flexibility, obviously and says that people try to take advantage of the discount by saying their friend is a member.... Blah blah blah. The whole thing in general just doesn't make any sense. Don't be annoying, especially on a relaxing Sunday. The discount is what, a dollar or two!? Just look up the name and ask her when she arrives if she is who I said she was. Beyond f-ing annoying and bad customer service. Will be suggesting in the future to go down the street to Hi-Lo or somewhere else entirely.

I noticed Andrew was helping another customer (a white man, younger than myself) at the Tequila Case. I asked Andrew if he could also grab a bottle of Don Julio Reposado for myself. He obliged. When Andrew took out the customers bottle, he placed it in the customers hand and let him go along his way. However when Andrew grabbed my bottle, he told me he would have it for me behind the counter. I asked the customer if there was any reason besides race that he received his bottle in hand prior to paying, but i couldnt get mine until i paid, the customer looked me up & down appraisingly then responded, "You know why." This was clearly a racist response, and so i decided to ask Andrew for clarification. When i asked him the same question, Andrews response was "idk, because you had your arms folded." This experience leaves me deflated and worried that even in modern times, in communities as progressive as Santa Monica, blatant racism & prejudice still exists amongst us.
