The service and cleanliness at this place have become terrible. The employees are unfriendly, seem annoyed when you ask questions, and then give you attitude after they make mistakes with your order. What's even more concerning is the lack of basic sanitation practices. Employees walk around wearing the same gloves while touching shared condiment stations, trash, and other surfaces, then immediately handle customers' food and plates without changing them. To make matters worse, my wife found a hair in her food the last time we visited. It's disappointing to see how far this place has gone downhill while prices continue to rise. I thought this place was great! Order at the counter, then go seat yourself. Cashier was nice, food came out fairly quickly, and the servers were super nice. I think this is high value for the quality. I did a plate with tofu, cauliflower, and the roasted potatoes, and the total before tax and tip was like $14-$15. For the quality of food, I thought that was super reasonably priced. Not a great experience tonight. I didn't take pics tonight because the food has been consistently great and it hasn't been necessary, but I wish I had taken pics tonight. We come here quite a bit because we have plate pass which gives you a 20% discount on your food, and their grass-fed burgers ($12.85) are off-the-chain. There are a number of things that were off tonight giving them the deduction in stars. Tonight I got the blue cheese steak sandwich ($16.95) which seemed especially small for the price. It comes with kettle chips but I upgraded to fries for an additional $3. I'm so glad I did because I would have definitely left hungry if I didn't. The flavor of the sandwich was fantastic, but again at this price point I need more sustenance! Girlfriend got the Chef Spotlight special of crispy jumbo 2 chicken tender plate ($12.57) which came with 2 sides. The chicken tenders were way overcooked. We usually get the mashed potatoes because they are made with real potatoes and usually amazing but tonight they tasted like instant mashed potatoes and were very lackluster Her second side was the beet salad and it was good as usual. She got 2 sauces to dip the tenders. The buffalo sauce was good but the honey Dijon was not good at all and had a funny taste. They are usually really good about bringing all the food out at the same time when it is ordered together, but tonight I had my sandwich for 5-10 mins before my girlfriend got her food and I was halfway finished when it finally got here. Again, we eat here a lot and tonight is not the quality we've come to expect but it was definitely disappointing. We will come back but I hope they can pull it together next time! read more

I've never been to this location, but my coworker picked up some sandwiches, and they were quite good. I particularly liked the chicken and steak sandwiches. It's a very family-style restaurant with plates like your choice of protein, like salmon, with your choice of two sides, like fries and asparagus. They also have sandwiches and salads which seemed just as popular. Their cookies are the register were HUGE and although I didn't get to try one this time, it makes me want to get it next time I go! I did, however, get the dragonfruit strawberry lemonade which was not only so good, but very berry sweet!! The ambiance was very chill and casual, but still fun and upbeat, with a fire on the crystal rocks going and a good surrounding in the outdoor mall area. Pretty good! I love how there are so many options even for the steak. Ordered the chimichurri steak. I thought they were slightly skimpy on the chimichurri but otherwise cooked perfectly (medium rare). The potatoes were so underwhelming and I like mine to be on the softer side, these weren't. I got a side Caesar salad which was nothing to ride home about. I've been to urban plate in Sunnyvale. It's a predictable spot but nothing insanely amazing about it. Parking is a nightmare! I placed a to go order expecting that it would be reasonably easy to pick it up. I called on the way to get instructions and the person who answered the phone was not helpful at all. It turns out that she actually gave me incorrect information. When I arrived at the restaurant I realized that it's in a big mall. I pulled up right in front of the restaurant and called to ask if somebody could walk the 20 feet outside their front door and bring the order to me at the curb. I was told that they are not allowed to do this. Instead I had to go into the mall parking lot and up to the third floor to find one of the limited parking spaces. This added 30 minutes to pick up my order. I'll never go to the Playa Vista location again. read more

I visited this location on Monday 3/30/26. Let me start off by saying that the person taking our order at the front was kind and friendly, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn't live up to that first impression. I ordered the blackened salmon with a side salad and potatoes. However, I realized that the salmon was undercooked as soon as I cut into it. I walked over to the server and told him about the salmon. The server said a new order would be prepared, but it took quite a while to come out. By the time my replacement dish arrived, my girlfriend had already finished her entire meal, which made our dinning experience disappointing. What made things worse was the server's attitude. When the new dish was brought out he said, "here's your salmon, well done'", which in a way that felt very dismissive. I never asked for it to be well done--I simply wanted it properly cooked. The replacement salmon appeared to have been pounded thinner, and it ended up being overly salty, and dry. It was visually less appealing than the first one too. Overall, the experience was poor. Between the long wait, inconsistent food quality, and unprofessional service, I wouldn't return. read more

Healthy tasty eats in Playa Vista's Runway shopping center. This place validates parking for 1.5 hours. The service was fine and the food comes out pretty quick. There is an automatic service charge on the bill in addition to being asked to leave a tip when you pay. The food was actually really good. I had the skirt steak plate with mushrooms and broccoli. The steak was deliciously medium rare and the sauces on the veggies were great. The amount of steak seemed small though. I wish there were a few more ounces of meat. The ambiance is clean and casual.
