Last month, I stopped by Joe's Pizza in West L.A. the night before a meeting in the downtown since I was staying close by the university. I haven't had pizza in two weeks, so I wanted to try one of the local recommendations an acquaintance of mine had told me of during his recent travels to that part of town. That's how I found myself at Joe's Pizza. Despite the small size of the counter/lobby area, there were plenty of choices as far as pizzas & desserts go, so I decided to grab a couple of slices of cheese pizza. While the counter area wasn't soo roomy, it was very welcoming, with a collage of photos of famous personalities stopping by to the left wall of the counter. It gave me a moment to think about what I was going to get while there was only a short line in front of me. After I made up my mind & paid for my order, I waited a bit at one of the outdoor seating tables before eating my two slices that promptly arrived. They were incredible! The cheese wasn't flavorless & didn't slide of the pizza like some quick bite places sometimes do with their pizzas. On top of that, not only were the pizzas amazing, but the dessert cannoli I ordered afterwards was great too. I would definitely like to visit Joe's Pizza again one of these days, but if you're in west L.A. & haven't stopped by Joe's yet, you definitely should. You won't be disappointed. I have to admit something. I have been here 3x last week - and I'm probably going again tonite! I heard about Joe's during a news segment last week and lo and behold there is a Joe's in Palms. This is a new location for them. Why did I go back three times?? Flavor, Crust and Flavor. They offer both pies and by the slice. You pick up the slice and the crust is so thin! You hold it up in wonder but before you take that first bite, you gotta fold it. Pinch the crust and fold it in half, tilt your head and take a bite at the end! That's how you do it! The sauce is awesome and I really luv the crust. Don't like the crusts? Give them to me. They have all your traditional toppings!! They're open late and there are always slices available. Don't see a topping you want, ask for a cheese slice and then ask for toppings. They will then heat it up in their fast ovens. They have calzones and salads. For those with a sweet tooth ask for a Cannoli! You can also buy a ball of fresh dough if you want to make your own pie at home. The Palms location is off Overland but don't drive too fast or you'll miss it! They have locations all over LA, so get goin! read more

During my neighborhood walk, I did a double take on the street sign, "Joe's Pizza." 10 mins prior I had a couple of street tacos but couldn't resist a little something. We got a meat lover's calzone ($13) and an order of garlic knots ($4.50). Fairly priced and delicious! Calzone was made fresh, so if you're hangry have a little patience. My partner, with pretty high standards, said he hasn't had a calzone that tasty in a LOOOONG time. The only reason for the one missing star is because the dipping sauce was not marinara but tomato sauce. So it doesn't cling onto the garlic knots, was watery, and a little plain. Joe's pizza is good, but I'm spoiled by my home wood fired pizza oven. The Palms location has ample parking snd limited seating out front. The guys working there are cool and hard working. They offer a large variety of pizza by the slice. I just think the similar take away NY pizza place in Palms (Coop) is better. I do like they have a fresh mozzarella cheese for a Margherita, I most don't think the sprinkled seasoning adds anything. The crust is thin but has a little too much oil for my taste. It's a nice place, but it just didn't meet my expectations which may have been tonight. read more

Omg! Love Joe's! Just like NY! We had white pizza and pepperoni and sausage. Pizza was piping hot and delicious. We also had garlic knots that were outstanding. Service was super friendly. Very reasonably priced, friendly and fast service, and it was nice they had slices available, especially at dinner. Ambiance is a bit ordinary but does the job, the main reason for the lack of being impressed is that, well, the pizza was not impressive. I took my daughter here based on some of the reviews and I must say we were not disappointed. Pizza by the slice is just what we were looking for but didn't know it. We walked in and were instantly greeted with big smiles which I really appreciate as well as a nice looking assortment of options in the case. Well, I have had slices from the Weho location last year and it did not thrill my taste buds. When I am in Weho, I go to Vito's on La Cienega. But, last night I wanted us to get a pie from my "hood" and saw they have a location super close to our house. The cheese pie was delicious and I scarfed 2 pieces up immediately after my husband brought it home. For me, pizza should be eaten as soon as it comes out of the oven or in this case upon arrival to one's home. The reheat an hour later was just not as good. However, I did like the pizza, but not enough cheese IMHO opinion. Crust was okay. My husband enjoyed it immensely. ( he is not from NYC). Definitely will return and try it again especially because it is so close to home. I support my community businesses always... having said that, cannot wait for Pizzeria Sei to open ( literally as close )...but, Joe's will always be a great option! I'm EXHAUSTED. It's nearing 11:00pm, and everything is closed. I'm ravenous but don't want fast food. I'll settle for pizza. I stumble into Joe's and I'm greeted by two friendly guys who are cleaning the place down. The pizza options looked fire, and I ask for one pep, one sausage, and a cannoli. It's less than $20 for my dinner, which is a near-miracle in 2026. I'm vibing thus far! Three TikToks later I'm being offered a piping-hot to-go box and a bag for my cannoli by one of the kind workers. I'm opening the pizza box to the last season of Breaking Bad on Netflix, and to my surprise, there's TWO SLICES of pep, and my sausage slice. The guy threw in an extra slice, so I call to ask whether it was a mistake. He says "no mistake. At the end of a long day, I like to make people's day better." I just about cried at the kind gesture and told him it made my week and hung up the phone. THANK YOU Joe's, not only because the delicious pizza was reminiscent of the tasty slices I used to get in NYC, but for giving me an extra slice of HUMANITY that has seemed to be absent in every other quick service restaurant in Los Angeles. Honestly, I was already planning on going back to Joe's, but now I'll be coming back with the intention of giving back a little of the kindness and respect I was given tonight. I literally lived on top of the original Joe's Pizza in Greenwich Village thirty years ago. I still remembered the taste. The most amazing, distinctive sauce. Slightly sweeter than the average marinara. The second I had a bite of a slice at this location it all came back to me. The best pizza in NY is now in LA. read more

There was some buzz about this place so, we decided to try it out. First with single slices and then with a full sized pizza. It is good. I'm not a crust lover and can taste that their crust is better tasting than most. They are friendly at the counter and seem to genuinely like their jobs and are happy with the pizza they're making. Two things: It is on the oily side and the separate slices seem a tad too expensive. One slice isn't a meal so, just know, you'll be hungry if you just buy one slice.
