I ordered via grubhub, so please take this into consideration for my review. What initially interested me in Mario's was the prices, menu variety, and advertising as authentic classic pizza. I got: - 18" X-Large Pizza (Pepperoni and Sausage) - Garlic Bread - 8 Chicken Wings (mild) - French Fries To begin with, the food was delivered promptly and safely. And the amount of food was TREMENDOUS, very much worth the money spent. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the pizza that much. In terms of structure, it was just decent. Not floppy, but not super firm. However, the flavor was a little off for me. It tasted almost sweet and the flavor balance was kind of strange. It wasn't enough for me to throw it out, but enough that it was noticeable when I was eating it. In the end, I did still finish the whole thing over a few days. The garlic bread was not flavorful to the level I would hope, but was plentiful and fine to eat. The chicken wings were solid, I enjoyed them. The fries were also solid and flavorful, I enjoyed them too. Overall, the main course here (the pizza) was a little off for me. Regarding the pizza itself, it was love at first slice! Light and airy, yet firm, dough. Luscious and fragrant tomato sauce, and oh so ooey gooey cheese. Sweet and tender pineapple (don't judge, it's a favorite flavor profile of mine), and aromatic pepperoni with crisp oregano teasing each bite. If you just order pizza, this place deserves a full score, unfortunately my desert was anything but a sweet surprise. The cheesecake was not only bland, but the texture left much to be desired. I ordered a pepperoni pizza through Grubhub and found a hair baked right onto one of the slices (see photo). When I called the restaurant, the person who answered immediately got defensive and raised his voice, saying they "can't" issue refunds and that I needed to deal with Grubhub instead. For the record, that's not true -- restaurants can process refunds for food quality issues. Grubhub even confirmed this when I reached out. Instead of owning up to it or offering any apology, the whole thing was handled with attitude and zero accountability. If this is how they handle something as basic as food safety and customer service, I wouldn't trust ordering from here again. read more

this is a real honest review. I always go to Papa Johns, but I decided to stop by here because someone recommended to me and I drove all the way from Hawthorne.
