I was created warmly upon entering, and that set the pace for my whole meal! I had a 14" cheese pizza. The crust was unbelievable! It was airy, chewy, and so fresh tasting! I ordered via grubhub, so please take this into consideration for my review. What initially interested me in Mario's was the prices, menu variety, and advertising as authentic classic pizza. I got: - 18" X-Large Pizza (Pepperoni and Sausage) - Garlic Bread - 8 Chicken Wings (mild) - French Fries To begin with, the food was delivered promptly and safely. And the amount of food was TREMENDOUS, very much worth the money spent. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the pizza that much. In terms of structure, it was just decent. Not floppy, but not super firm. However, the flavor was a little off for me. It tasted almost sweet and the flavor balance was kind of strange. It wasn't enough for me to throw it out, but enough that it was noticeable when I was eating it. In the end, I did still finish the whole thing over a few days. The garlic bread was not flavorful to the level I would hope, but was plentiful and fine to eat. The chicken wings were solid, I enjoyed them. The fries were also solid and flavorful, I enjoyed them too. Overall, the main course here (the pizza) was a little off for me. The price performance was incredible though, I got basically 3.5-4 days worth of meals with this, so I still appreciated trying it out. read more

Regarding the pizza itself, it was love at first slice! Light and airy, yet firm, dough. Luscious and fragrant tomato sauce, and oh so ooey gooey cheese. Sweet and tender pineapple (don't judge, it's a favorite flavor profile of mine), and aromatic pepperoni with crisp oregano teasing each bite. If you just order pizza, this place deserves a full score, unfortunately my desert was anything but a sweet surprise. The cheesecake was not only bland, but the texture left much to be desired. We received the wrong pizza(for the SECOND time actually!)....and back when this happened in March, the owner was there and said he couldn't refund us, but would be happy to provide us with a free pizza next time we ordered. I just called to get that free pizza(which we just wanted a medium, and not X-Large we had ordered last time) and I was told by the employee, who was trying to be helpful, that she called the owner and he said NO and that he couldn't verify I was owed a pizza(technically 2 pizzas at this now!). She said he would be in later and I could call back and take it up with him if I wanted to. I see now that I am not the only one who has dealt with a similar situation. If you still want to order from Mario's, and get the wrong pizza, insist they deliver you the right one right away, which in retrospect, I should have done. Don't believe this about not being able to get refunded, and then promised a free pizza for their mistake, just to have the owner not honor his word. this is a real honest review. I always go to Papa Johns, but I decided to stop by here because someone recommended to me and I drove all the way from Hawthorne.
