Tried this place two times and it was never that good, but decent price. Today I was scrolling yelp to find a decent pizza lunch special in the neighborhood and saw their $10.99 large 1 topping deal and went for it. Decided to throw in an order of mozzarella sticks because the pizza was so inexpensive. Upon arrival I was shocked to see their mozzarella sticks were more expensive than the large pizza. Got home to cold mozz sticks with hard cheese inside, and very odd tasting pepperoni pizza, my kid and I could not eat it it tasted horrible. So I wasted $25 dollars on absolute trash. We are pretty bummed out by our experience at Plank 47 Pizza. We showed up about 8:30 to have dinner. We ordered 2 pizzas and mentioned to the cashier that we are having 2 more guest joining us for dinner in a few minutes. Pizzas took about 35 minutes. I noticed that the guy behind the counter was trying to light the pizza oven, which took him about 5 minutes of banging on the gas valve, and great effort to light. So I guess that's why it took so long to heat the oven up. Additionally, Our pizzas were done at 9:05 and delivered to us in a to go box. I explained to the staff that we wanted to dine in. She said NO! That they closed at 9:00 and that we had to find somewhere else to go eat our pizza because they close at 9:00. WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US WHEN WE ORDERED ???? Even though I told them that two more were coming in to have dinner with us. So, now we have to go somewhere else to eat our pizza? Are we supposed to go to the park, or a buss stop? This is VERY BAD customer service. If they told us this at the time of ordering, we would have gone somewhere else where we could have sat down and enjoyed our dinner. UPSETTING EXPERIENCE! ok I have wanted to try the al pastor pizza since I saw it advertised outside the restaurant a while back. I wasnt 100% sure I would order it but decided to go for it sans jalapeños. My friend orders pizza from here often; so, when I wanted pizza, he suggested I try it. I called 15 minutes before close and asked if they had any cheese slices left, she said yes and that they were $4 each. I asked how much a small cheese was and she said $12. I said I suspect the cheese slices are large, but is there more pizza in a small, and she said yes. So , i I ordered the small cheese, but then she offered the lunch special- which I think is a medium cheese for $11. She is so sweet! The marinara sauce has a great flavor to it and the dough is cooked perfectly. The pizza is not like a traditional Neapolitan style Margherita, but it tastes great and is at a good price point! Such delicious pizza - with such a funny name. Clearly dock or beach related...? But who cares about the babe when you have delicious pizza. And this is in fact very delicious pizza. We got the meat lovers and the cheese adding mushroom and olives. We got two large for four people and had half of each one leftover for taking home - and the pizza was AMAZING for next day pizza which I love nearly as much as same day pizza. So when Plank47 opened up down the street from us, I had high hopes, but pretty low expectations. Fortunately, Plank47 validated my hopes and blew away my expectations. The pizzas are always great, the chicken wings are amazing and the salads are always fresh and flavorful. But the excellent food is only part of the Plank47 experience. Not really a place that gives the impression they want you to stick around and eat in-store. Loud television, no place settings or condiments, not even a napkin-dispenser. People were courteous if not exactly welcoming and that's not nothing. There was a sink behind the counter where a customer could wash their hands but no restroom to speak of which (given the large iced tea I'd just drank) led to an increasingly uncomfortable experience. Had a mushroom pizza and a sandwich with fries. It's telling that the fries seemed to be the highlight of the meal. Pretty average food though the crust on the pizza was decent. As others in my group purchased pizzas, I was interested in the salads and advertised lunch specials which are now my go to when I'm in the area. The specials are not posted online. However, you can call for the specials and place a phone order. The sandwich lunch special comes with either an Italian Sub or a Pesto Chicken Sandwich, a nice sized side salad, and a canned drink for $14. The sandwich is also a nice size and too much for me to finish in one sitting. I recently ordered the Fiesta Salad for $12. The salad is plenty for 2 people and I loved the toppings! The buffalo chicken was spicy, crunch and hot and the amount of cheese and ranch was balanced for the crust thickness. Crust was just the right crunchy-soft balance and I had to stop myself from finishing off the last slice! This place is alright for when you're starving and can't make a decision on what to eat. It's fast, cheap (if you don't do use the delivery apps), and it tastes good. If you're expecting Michelin star quality food, this is not the place. Plank 47 serves homemade comfort Italian food along with some American favorites. And please forget about your diet when you're ordering from here. Order from here on your cheat days. If I was a first timer here, I would recommend getting the Chicken Pesto Sandwich with fries, Mom's Spaghetti, a Mediterranean Salad, Chicken wings, and a cheesecake. You won't regret it. Their pizzas are good but you would have to eat it right away when it's still warm. If you don't, the crust becomes like cardboard unless you reheat it in the toaster oven and make the crust crispy (which I always do.) Same goes with the Calzones. The Fettuccini Alfredo is one of my favorites. I suggest ordering an extra side of Fettuccini Alfredo Sauce because sometimes the pasta gets too dry. Above all else, Plank 47 serves up pure comfort food and it's a great place to order from when you want food that is quick and delicious. read more

Medium-thick crust as is typical for a lot of American pizzas, but the meat lovers pizza was decidedly loaded with good quality toppings and sufficient cheese. Piping hot from the oven is obviously the best way to eat it. COVID-19 means interior seating is a bit limited (a window bar, basically) and outdoor seating is almost non-existent (4 seats and two tiny tables on the sidewalk) as it's a busy street. I can't speak to the pizza, but I ordered a chicken Parmesan sandwich and a side of fries to go last night. I am a snobbish New York/New Jersey critic when it comes to anything remotely "Italian," but I found this sandwich really scratched the itch. The chicken itself was nicely breaded and juicy; the sauce was good, and the bread (always my major complaint about most SoCal pizza joints) was actually decent and had some substance to it. The fries were exactly the way I like them: thin, crispy, and dusted with just enough minced garlic and parsley so that the garlic did not overwhelm the fries. Since I live two minutes from this place, I will definitely be making a return trip. read more

And I'm rating the restaurant one star to I get the attention of the owner. If I do get the owner's attention, I will add more stars. So here's my review: I just went to Plank 47 for the first time. I ordered the margherita pizza, which is my favorite type of pizza. It was delicious and the crust was perfect. However the cook used the wrong type of mozzarella. According to Plank 47's own menu, the margherita should be made with: fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil. But my pizza was not made with fresh mozzarella. It was made with normal mozzarella. So, still delicious, but not what I wanted. I did not say anything to the two women working there. I've had this same issue with Mario's Pizza, which is also nearby. But, in general, I've been looking for a place that makes it right, and apparently Plank 47 isn't one of them, unless someone at the restaurant reads this review and starts making their margherita pizza with the right type of mozzarella. read more

The Pizzas were a elevated football weekend styled pizza with a generous about of quality, toppings a perfect bake and a soft dough with a nice crust. My fam and I really enjoyed the pizzas and have declared it our new go to local spot. The family special also game with garlic bread and spaghetti and a small green salad. The other items were good but a bit standard issue the garlic bread was a nice toasted french roll cut to a appropriate amount for the Spaghetti serving. The pizza crust has no crisp and reminded me of a better version of Dominos. The sauce and cheese were decent but they lost me on the crust. The Calzone was horrible. The crust was more like a pastry crust and the filling lacked Ricotta cheese. Basically it was Mozzarella cheese and sauce. I know businesses are currently struggling and I'm trying to support them, but I have to be honest. The women who waited on me was very nice, so the service was great!
