Unfortunately this place cannot handle a lot of tables and busy nights we came on a MONDAY night and couldn't even get a waiter to come to outside even though he looked at us multiple times and just choose to ignore us, we were told a 10 minute wait and ended up waiting 40 minutes before saying anything and then was told to sit out back we didn't want to sit outback because we had our dog, we have came here dozens of times and since the pier was built service has completely disappeared very disappointed in the service and the way we were treated when we have been long time customers. read more

We were excited to try this place yet were told we would have a 30 minute wait. We waited over 1 hour and 15 minutes as party after party were seated before us. I decided to stand by the hostess stand and listened to her as she told parties that it would be only a few minutes wait. The staff was extremely rude when I asked about their seating policy and simply stated "we have nothing against your family." Where did that come from? I never hinted at anything of the sort. When you come up with something like that out of the blue and deny it, sounds kinda suspicious. They need a new hostess there for sure. One that is more professional and understands her duties and responsibilities. read more

We had a horrible experience last night. We had five small children and decided to wait twenty minutes for a table and Forty five minutes later, we were still not seated. After inquiring about an update, we find out she could not figure out how to arrange 9 top without breaking up a servers section. I wouldn't have been up set if she would have been honest. She continue to seat 6 customers that arrive after and not once did she communicate the issue. What put the icing on the cake was they were out of ice. We ordered online and picked it up. Both of us ordered a pizza, as they are about 10 inches. Hubs wanted extra sauce. Good thing, cause they are light on the saucing. The pizza was good and I would order again. Probably not pepperoni, but one of their specialty pizzas. The crust was super tasty. Solid 3.5 So exciting to see a new dining option near the pier in Surfside. The atmosphere is fun and beachy and you can sit in or outside. They have an assortment of appetizers and a long list of speciality pizzas. It appears that they make their own pizza crusts and fire them in a pizza oven so it's a little more gourmet than your typical take out pizza. To drink we all had margaritas. They were meh. Not very strong - tasted like cheap sour mix. We tried the pimento cheese appetizer which came out cold with "ripped" pizza dough. It was really good. It had fresh jalapeños that gave it a kick. For pizzas our major complaint was lack of flavor but I could tell the quality of ingredients was good. The bbq chicken pizza was the best, followed by the spam, then the cheese and mushroom, and last the hyena ball one. The hyena ball is essentially their meat ball and they were awful. They were either frozen or made with too much filler. I thought if they're putting their name on a ball it should be good. But they were dry and not good. The service was friendly and good and I enjoyed what this place could be. So I'm hoping they're just working out some kinks and will be a hot spot for surfsidians and their guests for years to come! read more

Pizza Hyena opened up for business during our week long Surfside Beach stay. The beer and personal pizza choices were interesting. I tried the Margherita, the Belly Laugh, and the Old McDonald-- all good pizza topping combinations and great crust. All of the pizzas are personal sized enough for one person. We were there during pleasant weather --perfect for the wonderful outdoor seating. The only downside for me was the drinks were served in single-use plastic cups-- including new cups for refills. Not a good environmental choice. Maybe this was just for opening night. Overall this was a good meal and I would come back again in the future. read more

Pretty neat little wood fired pizza joint! All pizzas are the personal 10 inch and prices start about $10/ea. I had the "clucked up" which consisted of bbq chicken, bbq sauce, red onion, fresh cilantro and lots of fresh mozzarella. It was a very good choice and I'd definitely order it again. Also had wings which were decent as long as you get the hot flavor. Trendy place with several TV's and very friendly staff! I wasn't sure how this gourmet pizza would be but it had tons of flavor!! The meat is flavorful and tasty and the greek pizza was awesome (it had a bit of a kick). The mushroom pizza was lacking in mushrooms but overall they had a decent amount of toppings. The decor inside is cool and they have lots of TVs and beer options. They also have outside seating which is perfect near the beach. The downside is the size and the price. The pizza's are a SMALL ten inches (maybe ten) and the prices are all over $10. Is the crust tasty and the pizza's flavorful? Yes, but with only one size option it is pretty limited. read more

The pizza has a very thin crust which is good. I would improve the taste experience by cooking the pizza another five minutes. I like the crust crispier.
