I refused the pizza & the rude couldn't understand why I refused it. Prob. Need to go over health & safety in the food industry with her. Only one working hard was the guy putting the pizza tickets together. Btw they should properly wear their masks since they work with food. I like the pizza. My kids like the pizza and the breadsticks with nacho cheese. We get the pepperoni feast. We don't eat it all and the leftovers are so good when reheated in a conventional oven at 425 degrees. I've never seen the store but will venture out tonight to pickup the order. I'm scared. Be careful here. We called and were told one price when we ordered, and when we got there they charged us almost $10 more. It was over $43 for a small 12" cheese, 3 topping 14" Medium, and some bread sticks. With 2 coupons. This pizza king used to have great pizza, great food period. In the last year and including tonight we ordered a 14 in Royal feast w/o mushrooms and with ex cheese. We got mushrooms and no ex cheese, hard as a rock. Ordered bread sticks 3/4 of the way done with an ex cheese sauce. Received bread sticks cooked all the way, and a ranch sauce. When I called them, Josh the manager said it's not their problem, they are the middle man. Because grub hub picked it up for delivery. I almost dropped the phone. They don't make it, they don't take the order, they are handed the order and that's it. He said they take multiple orders and he messed it up. He did not apologize for it, he said U PAID GRUB HUB NOT PIZZA KING.. THEY ARE RIDICULOUS, I DIDN'T HIRE GRUB HUB, PIZZA KING HIRED THEM. PIZZA KING IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS. HOW DO THEY EVEN FUNCTION? THEY HAVE A DIRTY STORE AND LOW IQ WORKERS ITS CRAZY what they tolerate they cuss where customer can hear them, they talk nasty, and nothing is done. I have eaten at this location many times. It's sort of a throw back to the original Pizza King since they still use the Ding-A-Ling phone at your table ordering system, which is sort of cool. You seat yourself, decide what you want from the menu, then pick up the phone and it rings back to the kitchen where they answer it and take your food and drink order. then a server brings everything to you. The feast pizza is very good here, but this is one of the locations, that does not offer the PK Cowboy pizza, which I and many others, think is PK's greatest pizza ever, haha. The food comes to your table in a timely manner and the meat on top gives the pizza a great taste. As someone who has been involved in pizza in facets from delivery to assistant management of both corporate and independent stores, I am shocked at my experience at this Pizza King tonight. I am well aware that it is a busy holiday evening, however, I feel that this is not an excuse for the poor customer service I was just presented with by several "managers", up to a regional manager, when I called to see what they were interested in as far as reparations for an incomplete order that took an hour to get for carry-out. I will outline the facts. You may draw your own conclusions: * Order was placed at 6:27 pm per the receipt. Nearly $38 for a large two-top and 2 orders of breadsticks with cheese sauce. * My son was inside waiting for the order. * I came back into the store at 7:24 pm and was told that they had been calling our order for pick-up...unawares of my son who had been there the whole time waiting. * Order arrived at home near 16th & Franklin and was found to be missing part of it. * Having already been away from home for 11 hours this workday, I was offered by "management" to come back and have my breadsticks replaced. It is approximately 7 miles from my home back to their location. As you might have guessed, this is unacceptable. The almost comical response by the management team is why this review is being posted. I work very hard for my money, and to be this disrespected by a local eatery that I've shopped at for a number of years is simply inconceivable. I'd decided to travel out to Cumberland, a small community on Indy's Eastside, to finally pay a visit to their location of Pizza King, one of right around 40 restaurants based in Indiana under the "Pizza King Indiana" name, though there's also Pizza King, Inc. based out of Lafayette, Indiana with approximately 100 locations (and started by one of the original founders) along with an Ohio-based Cassano's Pizza King. If you're from Indiana, especially a small town, then you're likely aware of Pizza King. There are locations in Central Indiana, including this location and I believe the one in Avon is still around. However, they've really found their core market in smaller towns and cities. While Pizza King is most known for its pizza (Duh!), they do offer other menu items including pasta, wraps, sandwiches, salads, and more. They serve beer and wine along with coke products and my usual iced tea. As you arrive in the parking lot, you'll immediately be struck by the fact that the Pizza King building has a strong retro-feeling to it and that continues inside. There are two accessible parking spots at the end of the building farthest away from the street, though they are not true ADA spots. There is a curb cut, though it's in modest disrepair. As you enter the double-glass door entry, you have an order counter straight ahead and a dining room toward the left - the dining room is probably 75% booths with a handful of tables toward the end of the dining room. All of the tables are designed for parties of 6 or more, though they didn't flinch when I took one of those tables as a single diner. If you're familiar with Pizza King, then you know that you sit at your table and call in your order from a phone at the table. I must confess that I forget this every single time. Fortunately, they seem to be fairly flexible. A server brings your food/drinks to you and you can always call in for refills, though mine was attentive. I ordered an 8" sausage pizza and an order of garlic bread along with my usual unsweetened tea. The garlic bread arrived as fairly traditional garlic bread - two slices for $2.19. It wasn't good, wasn't bad. I doubt I would order it again. The pizza arrived a few minutes later and was sliced into smaller "slices" to equal out about 12 slices. The pizza didn't have that spark that I've always associated with Pizza King, though it wasn't bad. I had no trouble finishing an 8" pizza myself. My server, whose name I never caught, was friendly and attentive and did make sure I got my 2nd refill. I do wish, perhaps, there'd been some explanation of the process whether that be using the telephone or, in the end, when you're supposed to pay at the ordering counter. I eventually figured it all out, but it would have been nice to get some guidance. The inside of Pizza King is definitely retro and very dimly lit. There were a handful of customers and all the aisles were wheelchair friendly. I didn't see any televisions or other distractions - kind of refreshing. Pizza King was about the definitive 3-star experience. I'm not sure I ever considered another rating. The entire experience screamed out average, though I appreciated the service and that alone will make me lean toward the three. It's not an experience I would drive out of my way for, but if I'm in the area and craving pizza it's a decent enough option. read more

Loved it! We are fans of Sir Pizza in Florida so we had to try this when we heard we were near. Pizza was exactly what we hoped, topped to the edge, perfect sauce to cheese ratio and the pepperoni was crumbled like we like. Service was great, love the little phones! read more

Pizza arrived with regular cheese barbecue sauce and banana peppers. Received a refund from Grubhub for the pizza but still not what I wanted. I love Pizza King... and I don't like Pizza that much. But this is my favorite! Now this location is really not the best but it's the closest one to me. The very 1st time here there was 2 other people eating in and it was about 130pm. So it was after the lunch rush, it took us about 25 minutes to get our lunch order and I only got an 8-inch pizza and so did my boyfriend. Granted there was only two people in the whole restaurant working one of the kitchen and one server so I give them props but the restaurant needs to have better staff availability. Now today I bought a 16-inch pizza which was wonderful had great flavor just the right amount of sauce and just the right amount of cheese. a chef salad I love their chef salad or I used to I just opened up the salad and it has shrunk 2 times the size of what it was. I just want to say how extremely impressed I am with the crew who was working on Friday night, October 21. We ordered door dash, and decided to pick up instead of have it delivered because of the wait time for delivery after a kids' school event. Upon arrival, we found our order had been missed at the Door Dash printer. I was pretty frustrated as I had a crew of young kids in the car who now had to wait and were hungry (and of course had to potty). The order then took even longer than we thought, so we had to wait for almost thirty minutes. Throughout the whole process, the front desk person, cooks, and manager were gracious, apologetic, helpful, and had amazing attitudes. They offered us cookies while we waited, and were incredibly friendly. I was so pleasantly surprised because it was extremely busy and they were also having to help a steady stream of customer coming in the door. I can't remember the last time I had such great service at ANY restaurant, especially the local pizza place that has a lot of young staff. I hope they get the opportunity to read this, and know that because of their amazing service, hard work, and great attitudes, that they turned what could have been a one star experience into a five star review! read more

We stopped in tonight after a very tiring day and order food for our family. Service was a bit slow, but our waitress was very polite and took care of our needs. One of our pizzas was missing one of the extra toppings we ordered. We were too tired and hungry to wait for them to make another pizza, so we ate it, but did let them know so they could take off the charge for the extra topping. The manager came out of the kitchen and apologized to us. He told us it was his fault because he made our pizza and overlooked the extra topping by mistake. He then offered to adjust our bill more generously than we had anticipated. A good manager addresses the problem promptly, takes responsibility for his mistake and makes it right for the customer. I give this pizza place an average review. Let me start by saying the bread sticks are very good. But the pizza seemed a bit pricey to me, and it really doesn't have the homemade flavor I expect from a place like this. The crust has tasted "cardboardy" the two times I have eaten there. Also, as a personal preference, I like pepperoni slices. Pizza King uses a ground pepperoni -- some folks surely enjoy it; I do not. Anyhow, the food is decent, but not great. This was the second worst pizza I have ever eaten in my life. I'm confused as to why this Pizza King is still in business. It is never busy, but there are almost always a couple cars in the parking lot. My family gave this place a try when we received some good coupons in the mail. The interior is weird - old tables and worn out booths, dusty fake plants everywhere. Air smells stale. The high chair we used looked like one from the 1970s. Our pizza did not taste anything like the Pizza King pizza I have eaten in Greenwood, Franklin and West Southport Road. It was served cold, was quite bland, and the tomato sauce was semi-chunky with cold pieces of tomato in it. I am not too picky when it comes to pizza, but this was horrible. WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS LOCATION?!?!?!? I am so actually very devastated. I used to get pizza here every Friday night on my way home from work. I would call, they would tell me it would be ready in 10 SOMETIMES 15 minutes and I would pick up hot, fresh, delicious pizza king pizza in the time sometimes even earlier than what they said. NOW-- I have been trying for MONTHS to give them the benefit of the doubt. I keep coming back and keep getting disappointed every time. It usually takes an hour or more to get our pizza (always over what they tell us which is usually 30 min now), they have tried to give me someone else's order, they have lost my order and they have completely messed up our pizza. Tonight was the last straw. We order the same pizza every time. Half royal feast, half Hawaiian. Tonight they took the ingredients from Hawaiian and royal feast and mixed them over the whole pizza. It was terrible!! We will not be back which is sad to say because I LOVE PIZZA KING and there is not any others that are at a convenient location for us. The female who answered the phone, response to our request to place an order for pick up was "we aren't open yet".
