We were at the pizza nova in San Marcos this past weekend and it did NOT DISAPPOINT!!! The restaurant was very busy but service was super quick ! Also waiting for our food we were able to people watch and see the restaurant running and I have to say customer service was outstanding! There was a young woman there Regina and i tell you what she is AMAZING!! Always a smile and sincere joy in helping customers !!! Food was excellent and service even better !!! Overall 4.5/5 lunch experience! From the outside, I couldn't tell what the dining area would look like but the inside cafe itself is pretty big with a lot of booth dining areas. They give complimentary garlic knots WHICH I LOVE! They're unlimited and delicious. Not too oily and flavorful! I was pleased with the variety of food options here for salad, pasta and pizzas. I tried their lunch special which was $13 for either salad & pasta or salad & pizza. (A selection to choose from) The pizza was a 4 slice personal pizza and pasta was enough to make you full but not one of those portions where you have a full 2nd meal to go. The salad you can choose from with this deal is Caesar or their house salad. I tried their house salad and it was good if you like the sweet kinda salad with some diced apples and candied nuts. My pasta side was the fettuccine and I asked for the spinach noodles! I tried my friends BBQ chicken pizza and it was good but not to die for. Overall, I was happy with this experiemce and liked that parking is really easy too. The food is good for a lunch bite and you'll be satisfied for what it's worth. The only thing that threw me off was the tiramisu dessert. Wouldnt recommend.. basically just tasted like a regular white cream cake. read more

I had heard some good things about the pizza so I decided to give it a shot with a simple pickup order for a large cheese pizza. The staff were pretty disorganized and I had to wait for them to work through a few different issues before somebody greeted me at the register. The pizza is just OK. It is much smaller than other local restaurants' large-size pizzas. The sauce is tangy and there is plenty of cheese, but for 20 bucks, It is no value, particularly considering there is nothing special about it. Super generic. I don't plan on returning. Returning to Solana Beach after several years away, it was with great anticipation that we visited my favorite restaurant in the area. I'm happy to report that it is as wonderful as it always has been. The lobster bisque is the best interpretation on the classic recipe I've ever had and it has lost none of its incredible taste. The generous portion of lobster meat makes one feel fulfilled and satisfied. The pastas, pizzas, salads, desserts are all top knotch and the craft brews are tasty and special. The staff is warm and friendly as is the cozy atmosphere. We now live three hours away and can't get here as often as I'd like but to whomever reads this, take it from me that it is worth the trip whether you are nearby or far. I called in a small pizza to go. Almost $17 for a small pizza? Ok. As long as it's amazing. Was it? Unfortunately, no. No effort was put into the presentation. If you put them next to a hot and ready, the little Caesar's would be more appealing. Size? 8" diameter. I think most places would call this a 'mini', or kid's pizza. Taste? It was ok. I ate it, of course. Would I ever buy it again? Yeah if this was the only pizza on the planet. I would buy it occasionally. But I'm sooo thankfull that I have plenty of options and can choose to hopefully never buy pizza here again. They were friendly, but that's rarely a factor in my star rating. read more

My Mom took me to Pizza Nova because she really likes it there. I am visiting from Florida and am always up for Italian. It was a Friday night and it was sort of crowded but not really. We were seated immediately but nobody came up to us. We waited and waited and then I flagged someone down and he said "I guess I can help you". The manager said things were a bit crazy at the moment but Mom and I didn't like the excuse. Another server came up and offers her assistance and then a third server Brendan, showed up. He saves the day! Loved his personality and he was a great waiter! He apologized but didn't give any lame excuses. I had the baked Mac n cheese and my mom has the spaghetti bolognese. We placed a to go order for a pizza and salad. We were told 20 minutes. I went down 10 minutes later and waited at the front counter for several minutes while the woman at the register went back to the kitchen to get the salad. When she returned, to my shock and amazement, she pulled the pizza, already in a box, out from under the counter. I had already paid by credit card so I drove home a few minutes away.... like 3 minutes (one mile.) The Pizza was barely warm. Even worse the stupid pizza cost $24 for a Margherita, and the cheese didn't go anywhere near the edges. It was 2 1/2 to 3 inches in from the edge so there is a huge wide margin of just crust around the pizza. You are paying for a larger pizza because the smaller one is like a "personal Pizza" and it's too small for two people. They are cheating the deal by not putting the topping on the largest part of the pizza. For those who are unaware, the pizza is supposed to have marinara sauce on it as well. There wasn't a drop. What is wrong with these people at this restaurant?!? Cutting outthe sauce completely and using as little cheese as they can get. . away with is totally dishonest and the service, just for take out, is appalling. At $24 for cheese and a few thin slices of tomato they are ripping you off. Then they make the pizza and set it aside and wait for you to show up before making the salad ?!? This is beyond stupid. This is just pure crap. So the pizza is basically old and almost cold, missing ingredients, and they charged $42 (then add tax) getting you to $47!!! and they have the unmitigated nerve to add on a 4% SURCHARGE... For what? Had to put something together for a last minute dinner birthday celebration. I tried Pizza Nova's delivery service to feed my party of 13. First they said it would take 45-60 minutes, which was perfect for us. Even better for us was that they delivered by the 45 minute mark. We were starving. We are a family of foodies and couldn't wait to see if the food was as good as it sounded. I, WE will most definitely be ordering from them over and over again. They pleased everyone's different individual tastes, and might I add, stuffed!!! Price was reasonable, staff over the phone were pleasant, and the delivery service was awesome and friendly. While visiting Solana Beach, we stopped in for HH treats at this pizza/Italian eatery. Happy to report they have indoor and outdoor seating. The team were all wearing masks and restaurant was clean but covid wasn't the star of the night. It was nice and normal! We ordered the famous artichoke dip, two mini pizzas pepperoni/sausage and the goat. We also were served garlic rolls prior to our meal. Garlic rolls - super good and very greasy. These are a carb lovers dream. A little on the buttery side for me but still good! Artichoke dip - OMG this stuff is stupid good. I would be able to have two orders of this no prob. It's warm, cheesy, garlicy and is perfectly seasoned. Pizzas - both were delicious. My husband enjoyed his pepperoni and sausage and commented that the crust was cooked perfectly. My goat was also really good. I asked to hold the prosciutto and it was all good! Def come back if we are in town again. read more

My family and I have been coming to pizza nova solana beach for the last year. The food is great and offers many options. The location is convenient and you can always find parking. The real reason why we keep coming back is the service. Every aspect to the service is top notch! The entire Wednesday evening team works together and never stops moving. Servers Sanaai, Brenda, Derek and Tori are amazing! Host Daniela always greets us with a smile and Jose will never leave an empty dish on our table. The manager Nora and her counterpart are always helping run food and do what they need to when the restaurant gets busy. I've been to Pizza Nova a number of times. They seem to be all over the place, the newest franchise craze (move over Long John Silver!). Years ago it would be the dinner of choice when visiting family in Hillcrest. After that location shut down, we actively set out to find another because we liked it so much (either that or it had become a welcome and comfortable respite from our problems). I can't remember how the food was back then, but I do recall, when we found a Pizza Nova in San Marcos, that I loved both the Meatball Sandwich and the Chipotle Lime Chicken Salad. Recently we discovered this location close to us and made a point to finally come out and give it a shot. I'm not sure if this one is worse than the ones visited in the past or if it can't live up to the memory, but it still felt exceedingly average. Anyway, the Solana Beach Pizza Nova has a good sized outside patio (where an older woman sat with her very furry Spaniel that kept jumping on her lap over and over) and an interior with very constricted aisles and a walkway to the bathroom that includes part of the kitchen you have to move through. Like most Italian places, you're treated to table bread in the form of warm balls bathed in a butter sauce with a terrific garlic bite to them. The woman who sets my heart ablaze had Mary Lou's Chicken Salad. She found the roasted peppers mushy and unappetizing and the dressing a bit overwhelming. The croutons took the form of whole slices of bread, toasted and cut into quarters which was odd, but not terrible. All in all, she ate while being hungry, but was disappointed with the overall quality despite looking forward to a salad all afternoon. Our son had the Cheese Pizza Kid's Meal. This was impressive in size and very tasty for something made for a toddler. The restaurant was also nice enough to give him crayons and paper to keep him occupied for most of our visit. I think he made out quite well. My mother and I split the Fettuccine Alfredo after being told by the waiter that it could feed two with the addition of a salad. What we didn't realize was that the waiter meant a salad entree and not a side one, as the whole of the alfredo would have barely been enough for just my tiny sprite of a parent. Thankfully, table bread was plentiful and my toddler only ate half of his dinner, disaster was averted. As for the fettuccine itself, it wasn't as salty or rich as one would hope. When you order a dish so full of butter and cream, you're hoping for a richness of flavor that makes the assault on your arteries worth the damage you do by eating it. Now, this review may sound like a 2-Star, but it still ranked about average. Alright, but nothing better than just good. I'm sure we'll go back one night, and hopefully the outer deck will be free of shedding dogs and the owners that have to scratch them every few seconds while cackle. When the time comes, I will try that meatball sandwich again, and maybe have something more positive to say. read more

Came in to place a to go order to carb load for a race. I was looking for spaghetti and meatballs, and was disappointed that they didn't care the most common Italian fare. So I opted to order what was close to spaghetti - penne pasta with meat sauce and a large side of meatballs. The to-go order was a good portion, but hard to eat out of the container. We did not enjoy our food at all because from the moment we set on the table we felt something under the table was on our ankles and legs biting us. there was some kind of bugs or flies under the tables. The Restaurant was smelling too specially when you walk toward the bathroom which is next to the kitchen. The floor was so nasty and looked dirty. I notified the manager. He apologized but I hope they clean inside and get rid of the flies. Their food was good but one of our pizza that we ordered. They use frozen bell papers which not test good a all. After a long day at the beach stopped in for a bite. Got a pizza to share and devoured the garlic knots! The goat cheese pasta dish tasted like mushy, overcooked top ramen with no flavor. The Margherita pizza was sauce-less, with basically raw tomatoes on the top. There was no basil either. Do they know anything about basic Italian food? The bread was also so oily that I had to use a fork to eat it before I gave up and just stopped eating. I went and got a sandwich at Jersey Mike's across the way. I noticed nearly all of the staff were standing near the front entrance, the entire time we were eating. Is that not a bad sign? Why aren't they doing other things? There is always something to do at a restaurant during operating hours. Maybe put more effort into that sad pizza. read more

Food is great but the service is horrible. A customer should never have to get up to get their own box because you're ignoring them. I was only looking at my phone while I was sitting there after I finished eating because I was hoping that would make you come to my table faster to give me the bill. Waiting 15 minutes for my bill after grabbing my own box is unacceptable. Especially on a slow Monday evening. Fantastic place to come for lunch or dinner. They have fantastic salads and pizzas. Pastas too. Everyone loves their garlic bread balls they serve as part of the meal. Parking is easy int he Lomas Santa Fe Center. They are next to Vons. The staff is nice and service is good even if busy. There is also outside seating. I like the thin crunchy pizza and they don't disappoint. Try the Goat Cheese Pizza! It is fantastic. read more

After receiving a coupon for a free ten inch pizza in the mail, I called in an order for the arugula prosciutto pizza to go! When I got to the restaurant within their estimated time, my pizza was ready to go. The staff had masks on (this is during covid btw). The pizza was great! The toppings came in a separate box and had a bunch of extra arugula which was very much appreciated. We've been looking for a new favorite go-to pizza place in the area for some time but had never tried Pizza Nova. On a recent Friday night we decided to try it and this is what we noticed: - We arrived and were told that all the empty outdoor tables were reserved...that was OK since it was a little chilly and we got a table inside, but the outdoor tables never filled up the entire time we were there. Not sure what that was about. - They had a few craft beers on tap, which was nice and a very broad menu. Because we wanted to try their pizza, we asked about getting a pizza with half of two different types of pizza...that was possible as long as we settled on using the same sauce for both. They have two sizes of pizza, and we selected large. We also ordered a "Best Salad". - The salad was good, but nothing extraordinary. The pizza also was good, but nothing to write home about....thin crust, full of topping, but not good enough to want to order one on a Friday night for delivery/or pick up. - Service was good, atmosphere was acceptable "strip mall modern" and, as you might expect for Solana Beach, there were lots of older people (ourselves included). Bottom line: OK place, but we need to keep looking to find a pizza locally that takes us back to the great pizzas of New York City. read more

Not the greatest. Been to the one in Point Loma and always good. Slow service on a slow Saturday night, food was flavorless -spaghetti sauce was just tomato sauce from a can - no herbs or spices that I could discern. Bolognese sauce was about the same. Definitely won't go back. read more
