Well my oh my Pizza On Tap aren't you a little surprise? A tiny little gem hidden inside a strip mall where you least expect it. A handful of craft beers that rotate, and a kitchen with an actual chef. There are a few small tables the place probably only seats about 20 people. You go to the counter to order your slice [or other food I saw some meatballs that looked incredible!] ....and a craft beer and you're all set. Very cute on the inside but you'd never suspect that, that's why your mother always told you "don't judge a book by its cover". I got a single slice, very large slice by the way, pepperoni and sausage, and it was literally a cheese bomb. The crust was neither too thin nor too thick the sauce was delicious and of course cheese. The place was clean and of course there's plenty of parking in the parking lot that they share with Smart & Final. There was a lot of cool stuff and TVs on the wall including a map of all the San Diego breweries which I found very interesting. There's a reason why only beer should be on tap and not Pizza.... We wanted to try something new and ordered pizza from here which was a mistake, it's sub par. Being from NYC, Pizza is well known to me and this place fails to deliver! The dough is hard and chewy, and the crust is dry. We ordered one pepperoni and mushroom pizza and it came LOADED with cheese and barely any sauce or mushrooms. We didn't want extra cheese, especially not the cheap mozzarella kind of cheese this was. The other pizza we ordered was a white sauce pizza with chicken and jalapeños and again...it's loaded with cheese and has no taste whatsoever, plus the dough is horrible. Let's not even mention the crust, it's not the type of pizza crust you would expect, it's the kind you get out of a frozen pie from the grocery store. Check out attached photo. This is by far the worst pizza I think I I ever had in my life. First of all, it's overpriced. $32 for wings and a medium pizza. I don't mind paying the money if I get my money's worth but Little Ceasers would have done the job. The dough was way undercooked and we called and they were nice about it and remade it for us. The pizza was crispier BUT it had cardboard texture and even though it is homemade it has no flavor. The garlic parmesan wings were dry and there was a ton of oil. You can easily tell that they use cheap ingredients. I don't understand why they're still in business. The presentation and customer service was great. read more

This is place is awesome. Went here for the first time tonight to watch the Padres. The workers here are super friendly and the food is excellent. We had the south of the border pizza with chorizo and it went way beyond my expectations (did not expect to enjoy Avocado on a pizza). I also like that they are so kid friendly. Finally came to check this place out. The Yelp reviews are great and I see they often have Honey Hips on tap, so it was really a no-brainer. My family and I came here on a Saturday for lunch. This area in Vista is not the greatest by no means. Pizza On Tap occupies a space in a strip mall here, marked only by a sign and one glass door flanked by a wheelchair-accessible ramp...which is odd because you are forced to walk down to ramp opening in order to enter. The place is small but there are a few tables. All the seating is padded which is nice. Is it a little tight so I would have backup plans if you bringing a large group here to eat. We ordered a large pizza, half-pepperoni and half "South of the Border" - basically a Mexican style pizza with chorizo and avocado with ranch dressing drizzled on-top. I didn't even think to request a hot sauce to add to the pizza! They should suggest that when ordering to kick it up a notch. We also ordered the buffalo chicken fries - wow, so good! I think we could back and just eat this and we would be quite full when leaving. We spoke to Mike the owner quite a bit who sat at the table next to us...who was great to talk to. When ordering, he even "warned" us of getting the large pizza since was bigger than we may have expected. It was. We had a hard time getting the pizza box in our fridge! We do want to come back to try the wings, which I heard were quite tasty. Also, they have a special for the afternoons: $50 off any appetizer and $2 off any beer, between 11am and 5pm. I ordered the pesto cheese bread that comes with sauce for dipping, and the garlic Parmesan chicken wings. I always order crispy because well you never know. My idea of crispy and someone else's could be different. I was not disappointed, the wings were perfectly cooked, crispy and moist on the inside. Then they are slathered with the good stuff, not that cheap imitation Parmesan, and BUTTER! Don't forget one of the pale ales either, I don't remember what I ordered but just ask for something blonde and fruity like me. I was so happy with my meal, this man can cook! If it weren't for Yelp, we may have kept driving right by this place. It is tucked away in a little shopping center and looks unassuming from the outside. We came here on Sunday mid-day and it was full of families enjoying a nice lunch. The service was A+ for super friendly and caring. The atmosphere is more sports bar with large screen TVs on the wall broadcasting different games. The food was pretty good. The only thing that could be better is this place is on the small side. I am APPALLED at what I saw at this location today. I am a customer of 4+ years and have always had a good experience when getting pizza from here. But I cannot look past the fact that there were people in the indoor dining area without a mask on. A customer was able to place an order without a mask on. Pizza On Tap is a great little pizza joint in Vista that stands true to the old town pizza place. I am fairly confident to be able to walk in here and grab a slice, hot, homemade and ready. I ordered pizza for me and a friend on a Friday around 8PM. They were very friendly over the phone and gave me an exact time to come in. So I arrived 10 minutes later. The pizza was ready, the attendant was great and able to take some playful banter while being very knowledgeable about the pizza. They even discounted me for the sauce on one of my sides due to it being "dry" which it was not, it turned out to be delicious! I will be ordering from Pizza on Tap more often! read more

This pizza was KILLER!!! Got the BBQ chicken pizza and there was smoked gouda on it----just delicious. They put cilantro on--after cooking it, which most places do not put cilantro on and that is a travesty. It was HUGE too---we ate for days!! Been here a few times and it's usually really good, today we got a Cali and a south of the border, ordered to go, drove 10-15 min home and when I got home the pizza was super runny, hard to pick up, and not much meat. Not sure if the normal chef was off tonight or what happened. Cheese stick were over cooked as well, they were completely hollow and the cheese was on the outside. Below is a list why they are worth going to visit. 1) crust is very crispy but once you bite in, the dough is chewy and very good 2) they don't spare on the toppings, if you love cheese, this place doesn't skimp. 3) they bake fresh, you could watch the pizza maker create your pizza and it doesn't take long to bake 4) they have beer and 4 large tvs Although this is not a traditional sit down restaurant, they do check up on you to make sure the pizza is fresh and to your liking. Pricing is decent, it's not expensive. We bought a large Hawaiian pizza for 16$ and it was larger than we expected. The size of the pizza was maybe 3 inches larger then a little ceasars LG pizza in circumference. To visit or not to visit- vista isn't really the go to area to dine, but if your in the area, you should try this place. read more
