Went here yesterday for a late lunch. They have a rooftop seating option that was perfect since the weather was so nice. It has a great view of the city! We got the Prosciutto and Arugula flatbread, which was very thin and crispy. The truffle fries were really good and we had them with their chipotle aioli. We also both got raspberry lemonades which were very sweet and refreshing. The coconut shrimp was really really good. My boyfriend was obsessed. We stopped by Finney's Oceanside on July 4th while looking for a place that was open due to the Independence Day festivities that weekend. Having previously been to the one up in Orange, we decided that this was the best place to go. We were seated right away on the rooftop deck with a pleasant view of the downtown area. Our server was very patient with us and once we were able to find an order that we both liked (we were both exhausted from the San Diego County fair) our food was delivered to us in under 10 minutes. Our meals were both very well done in terms of quality and presentation. The biggest issue that we had is that because there is so much corn on the menu and because we generally avoid corn whenever possible due to dietary restrictions it seemed to really minimize what we could get as even most salads had corn inside of it. The portions provided were perfect for the two of us and the bison burger in particular was delivered to my exact cooking specification. What's interesting is that this restaurant does not include any sides in terms of their menu offerings so what feels like a discount when you see a burger for $13 to $15 you actually make up for by having to spend 4 to 6 dollars on a side. Well, I understand that this may be easier for them with some of their customers. It is not a trend that I enjoy seeing as ultimately the prices are not as cheap as you would expect. They were a bit busier than expected on the holiday, but that's because so many other restaurants were closed so it looks like a large part of the crowd went to Oceanside as well just to go to Finney's. Overall, we enjoyed our experience, but the menu having limited options if anyone has a hard time with corn really puts a damper on it along with having to pay for the sides separately makes for a weird experience. Our visit started off positively, as our server introduced herself promptly and got our drinks out quickly. Unfortunately, the service declined shortly after. We came to celebrate a friend's birthday and planned on ordering multiple drinks and food, but we were left waiting for long periods without any attention. At one point, we were ignored for over 30 minutes, and one of our drinks did not arrive until right before we paid the bill. It also seemed that the original server stopped checking on our table entirely, and another staff member eventually had to assist us. Considering it was Tuesday around 3 PM and the restaurant was not very busy, the lack of service was disappointing and unexpected. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and sat up on the roof top. Vibes were great, views were nice and the service and food was impeccable!! Maddi at the upstairs bar during Friday happy hour was an absolute machine, handling everyone without breaking a sweat. My girlfriend and I lucked out with zero wait and got a skinny house margarita, a guava margarita, coconut shrimp, and chicken and waffles. The coconut shrimp is non-negotiable, you have to order it. Burgers and wings are great too. It's clean, family-friendly, plenty of seating inside and out, so just budget extra time for parking because, well, Oceanside. This Finney's is not quite up to snuff compared to the Finney's in Orange. Triple Smash Burger had good flavor. Fried pickles were lacking in flavor. Others in our party said the tater tots and the Finney burger had a weird taste to it (and they frequent the one by Chapman College). Service was somehow fairly fast but unattentive. I wouldn't come back to this location when eating in Oceanside. Other better restaurants here. read more

I went with the mahi tacos for lunch which were great. The kids all ordered cheeseburgers off the kids' menu and were totally happy with their meals. The adults sampled a few different beers, and with such a large beer menu, there was plenty to try. Since it had started to rain, we grabbed a table inside, but they also have a large outdoor patio that would be perfect on a nicer day. In from out of town we were excited to get dinner at this seemingly nice restaurant and watch World Cup. Drinks took a little while to come but wasn't too worried. After about 30 minutes we were asked about ordering food. We ordered four appetizers. After 45 minutes we received 1 of the four. After an hour we got the other three. Another thirty minutes later we received entrees. Wait staff was not attentive, drinks took too long. Food took way too long. On top of everything the food quality was terrible. Ill always remember that burger being bomb. Trued those new steak fajitas and wasnt the biggest fan. Steak was overcooked , asked for medium. Alot of fatty pieces. Got more than well done. I was on vacation with my family in Oceanside today and went to Finney's for lunch. I ordered two different dishes, but they told me they were out of chicken for those specific items. I was completely understanding and chose something else. I ordered the barbecue chicken pizza, and when it arrived, I immediately knew something wasn't right. There was no barbecue sauce on it--just a light red sauce--but I still gave it a try, thinking maybe it was just a different style. It was extremely spicy and tasted nothing like a barbecue chicken pizza. It was by far the worst one I've ever had; it tasted more like a chopped hot-wing pizza. I ate a couple of small slices to give it a fair chance, and I was also very hungry. When the server came by and asked how everything was, I explained my concerns and why I hadn't eaten much of it. She said, "Oh, the spiciness might be from the chili," and then asked if I wanted a to-go box. I didn't want to be rude, but my thought was: if it were good enough to take home, I would have eaten it. She didn't even acknowledge my concern, offer any type of credit, or suggest speaking with a manager. In the end, I took the pizza because nothing was done to address the issue, and I threw it away in the trash can right outside the restaurant. It wasn't just the food that disappointed me--it was the poor, careless customer service as well. read more

Friday night happy hour, Finneys had a good crowd going upstairs and down, but we were seated on the rooftop patio right away. I love the vibe upstairs, even without a true ocean view because of the surrounding hotels. The spunky server in the black converse was so cheerful and we got great service. Started with a Raspberry Smash, a delicious muddled vodka and prosecco drink. A nice smear of sugar on the rim and side, it was tasty sweet and refreshing. I only had one, but I would have enjoyed more. Husband had a beer which was part of his dinner combo order. Our happy hour dinner included the bacon deviled eggs, yummy and easy to pick off the candied bacon and move it to his egg. They were a standard deviled egg with a smear of creamy yolk underneath to keep them on the plate. A drizzle of sriracha garnished the plate. I ate it all, pushing the eggs around to wipe up the yolk and sriracha. Smile. Moving on, Husband ordered the Finney's Burger and fries for his entree. This is a $16 value option with an included beer or soda. This was a nice thick burger, cooked exactly to medium rare. Husband had to compliment the chef when the manager stopped by to check in with us, because it is DIFFICULT to get a medium rare burger right and this one was PERFECT. Topped with cheese, pickled onions, lettuce and tomato it was a good value and good quality. Big fluffy brioche bun was appreciated to soak up all those rare meat juices. My meal was the steak taquitos, a delicious pile of pico on top of four large rolled corn tortillas filled with a bit of beef. Some tri tip beef according to the menu. Not a lot of filling, mostly corn tortilla, but still tasty and filling. Chipotle aoli on the side tasted sharp, and was traded to husband for his sweeter chipotle catsup which I preferred. But the roasty salsa that accompanies this dish is AWESOME and I asked for more. The manager himself brought it over. Although I would have loved another Raspberry Smash, we kept our dinner bill to $40 by not ordering another round. So dining economically can be done in Oceanside, if you get there before 5pm for happy hour!! read more

We came here after watching a movie and were excited they had happy hour. No one was at the host stand so we wondered to the bar. We found 2 spots at the end, and hoped we could move to the table top behind.... The bartender said we'd have to ask the host. Once again after glancing by the entrance there wasn't anyone there.. so we opted to stay at the bar. I had the guava margarita which had no guava taste whatsoever and was extremely disappointed. My friend really liked her drink though. It was rather annoying as one bartender kept splashing us as she made drinks, and at one point it was so bad that we both let out an " ohh my" while she just looked at us. No apology, as our faces were dripping with liquid. I have sat it front of many bartenders in my life and I have NEVER had any of them be so careless. Never again. Waited for someone to come to their little podium and seat me. That was about 5 minutes. I was traveling for work and dining alone. I was sat down and the wait began.... Finally after 13 minutes a server noticed me and asked if I was waiting to pick up an order or did I seat myself. Strange. I asked about my dressing. The wait for the extra dressing put me over. I was done. Finally saw my server again after a very long time. Maybe she was on break. I told her I was over it. Pointed out everything that was wrong and she went to get the manager. The manager came and I told her everything. She just looked at me and said oh I'm sorry. That was it. Didn't offer to comp the food with 3 bites out of it or anything. I paid my bill. Don't ask me why !!! Never again. Service sucks. Wasn't busy. I came to Finney's for the first time tonight and was really impressed. First off, the restaurant is extremely large. They have giant space at the main level, with a huge bar and big screens in the middle. Then, if you take a short walk upstairs (they also have an elevator), you'll be on their beautiful rooftop patio overlooking downtown. We came about 6pm on a Wednesday and only waited about 10-15 minutes for a great table on the rooftop patio. Our server was very professional, kind and knowledgeable about the menu! The food and drinks were fantastic. I personally loved the avocado egg rolls, that came with two equally delicious sauces. I love that they have a wide variety of beers, cocktails and even zero proof mocktails too. Been here a few times, the first time we got the tacos with their house made tortillas that I believe was a blend of corn and flour but we're not highly recommended by our server. We asked for them to be substituted for flour. They were not. The server noticed the mistake right away and was super sweet and sent us out new tacos which we totally did not need but very much appreciated! This last time we went we were more disappointed. I was with my niece and her boyfriend. She got the deviled eggs and he got the Mediterranean bowl with chicken. He liked his and ate the whole thing. The deviled eggs were not good at all however. Very little egg filling and the filling was almost not edible. It tasted like straight mayo and mustard with a tiny bit of egg mixed in and also somehow bitter tasting?? The server didn't notice that my niece only ate one piece of the 5 that it came with. But she was super friendly and otherwise attentive. I would have never guessed this place was a franchise because the food and service were absolutely outstanding during our visit. I like this place. I've going there on Friday afternoons with my pups. I think I've been 10-12 times ... and gotten something different from menu each time. I am absolutely disappointed and HUNGRY! We love going to Finney's but we won't be going again. We got seated at 7:15pm the downstairs was pretty empty. Our waitress came up to our table and took our drink order, we also informed her we were ready to order everything as we eat there often this was at 7:20. Our appetizers got to us at 7:30ish plus 2 kids pizzas arrived at 7:50ish. We then waited for mine and my husband's food until 8:30 when I flagged the waitress down and informed we wanted to cancel our food because our kids were done and our food was nowhere in sight. She informed my husband's food was done and mine would be 2-3 minutes longer ( the kitchen was backed up ). So I said I'd wait but that I wanted everything boxed up to go. I then proceeded to wait 15 more minutes to only be handed my husbands food and be told my chicken club was not going to be ready for a while and that they took it off and I could just take my husbands food. We left at 8:50 hungry because I didn't get to eat dinner. The MANAGER never once came over to our table to check on us to see what was going on. We didn't need anything special but honestly to wait almost 2 hours and not receive our food is unacceptable and a percentage off would have been nice, even just a I'm sorry for what happened but we didn't even get that. I'm so disappointed Finney's and my family / friends will no longer be going and it won't be our #1 to tell people about. I'm so sad. read more

Found this restaurant on Yelp when traveling to Oceanside. Nice big dog friendly patio upstairs with stairs or elevator access. A lot of variety of beers on tap and opted for their delicious IPA. The burger was cooked to order and toppings were fresh. Nice to have dog menu items too. The Moroccan salad was interesting combination that was very tasty. We shared fries and tater tots. The tots were our favorite. Service was excellent. Nice vibe, clean, and pretty views. A building blocks the ocean but still nice with palm trees and great outdoor temps.
