Wow! The pizza at this establishment was amazing! We weren't quite hungry enough for dinner when we stopped in Morro Bay or when we gassed up in SLO before the ride home, but by the time we got to Paso our tummies were rumbling. Checked for pizza on Yelp and found Pizza Planet had 4 stars and outdoor seating (traveling with the doggie). So off to Pizza Planet we went. Easy to get to from the 101. I walked up to the counter and ordered our favorite - a medium pizza with ham, mushrooms and sausage. It was only 10-15 minutes and our pizza was brought out to us at one of the two patio tables on the covered sidewalk. The girl who brought our pizza out asked if we would be eating there. When we said yes, she told us she'd bring us paper plates. She was right back with them and checked to make sure we had everything we needed. Now for that pizza. It was sooooo cheesy! Yum! The red sauce was mild and flavorful. The thinly sliced ham was good and the sausage was mild and tasty. The crust was great! Perfectly cooked and just a bit chewy. Something I'd never had on a pizza...there were sesame seeds on it! Nice touch! They added a nice rich, nutty, toasted flavor. Overall, just a fantastic pizza! Three pieces of pizza each filled us nicely with two pieces left for the road. Highly recommend. We will definitely stop here again when passing through Paso at lunch or dinner time. Yelp, you've disappointed me! We were looking for some tasty pizza after a day of wine tasting and unfortunately, we had only a couple of slices and regretted it all evening! We are from out of town and stopped here because of the reviews. I think most people order to take home or delivery. We ordered for dine in and it was horrifying. We paid first and then sat to wait for our order. The whole staff looks dirty. Girls hair is all over the place. One girl brought our pizza to the table with huge acrylic nails stuffed of our pizza. Wowie. We ordered two Giant pizzas for a dual adult birthday party with about 18 people. We had no idea they were so big. We could have ordered one and still had enough for everyone. That being said, we called in the order and when I showed up it was just coming out of the oven. They were massive! That's always fun, to know you have way more pizza than you need. Leftovers!!! We had a veggie and a bbq chicken. They were both cooked perfectly. The dough was this great two layer twisted job that was light, fluffy, crispy outside, and just delicious. The veggie was great, good topping distribution and fresh veggies. The bbq chicken was more my style and super tasty. It was great hot and just as good cold. We asked them to cut the pizza into squares instead of slices which they happily did and that made it easier to eat as a group and more fun too. The place inside is small, just a few tables, but it's for sure a call-in, pick it up and go home kind of place. Seems like they do a good business fueling the kids and families playing baseball on the field by the post office too, so that's a nice idea. I've been getting pizza from this family for around 22 years. I don't often eat pizza, anymore, but when I do...... The service is prompt, courteous and friendly, and they get the orders right. In terms of the food quality, they appear to use first-rate ingredients, serve generous portions and, just as importantly, know how to construct a delicious, balanced pie. It's not about how it tips the scales, rather, it's about how it tastes. I recently sampled a new competitor and was appalled by the ridiculous ratios of the ingredients. The staggering amount of artichoke heart they dumped on the thing overwhelmed it to the point that I wondered if there was sauerkraut in the box. To me, this was an indication of either inexperienced, or thoughtless kitchen staff. The meats were of a quality I'd expect from a Slim Jim. Blech! So, long story short, I'm sticking with Pizza Planet for flavor, consistency, value and service. Whenever I have a friend visiting and they suggest pizza, it's where we go and everyone raves. Just traveling through (at a nearby hotel) and Yelped 'Pizza' for dinner for the family. Reviews here were great, the pictures grabbed my attention with the sesame seeds sprinkled on the crust. We ended up getting a 16 inch pepperoni pizza (ate EVERY bite!). The employees were more than accommodating, giving us paper plates, forks, napkins etc. They were super nice too. After much looking, my boyfriend and I decided on this place because of all the positive reviews. We got there and knew it would be a mom n pop joint. It's in a strip mall, the kitchen is small but well appointed and open so you can watch them make your pizza. It's very clean and the employees are very nice. We paid 24$ for a 16inch combo with 2 refillable drinks. The pizza was very good! They layered toppings with cheese, and sprinkled sesame seeds on the crust. I had never had that before but it made it taste like a breadstick! I would def. Go back there again if in the area!
