The chicken tortilla soup was awful. It was like a thick, lumpy gravy. They even attempted to thin it out and it was still bad. It's ok, but the prices are high. I tried ordering something with a daily deal online and it wasn't taking the discount correctly because their prices went up, but coupons weren't adjusted.. This was my first visit to Pizza West. I have to eat gluten-free so I was happy to see on their menu that they offer a gluten-free crust. The waitress even checked on their salad dressings for me to tell me which were gluten-free. I ended up ordering the Grecco salad. She forgot to order the salad without bread on top, but I only had to wait a few more minutewhile they made me another. Despite the little mistake, they do seem knowledgeable about gluten and cross-contamination here. I'd like to come back again to try the spinach dip with corn chips or a gluten-free pizza. read more

We came for pinball and got surprised by amazing food, excellent prices, and better than expected pinball. Olivia took care of us, and did a stand up job dealing with a growing party on my birthday. What really stood out to me was the food. I haven't been suprised by how good a place is in a long time. On top of that, their to-go desk was pu.ping out orders all night. To finish, they have an excellent selection of local brews and awesome pinball machines. I felt like a kid again, and I'll be back with my son for a family night or for date night. First time - lunch buffet. Salad and I had to try the homemade blue cheese. Good. Soup was tomato basil - I added croutons and cheese. Another tasty selection. I didn't ask for anything special for the buffet. Server brought a couple of slices and explained them. Masterpizza - spicy with KC Masterpiece sauce - was a good surprise. St Louis style pizza was good as well. I don't try the dessert pizza bec I was stuffed. I don't live close but I will make it back here. Too good!!! read more

I had wanted to come into this pizza place for awhile on my many trips down K7 between Olathe and Bonner Springs YMCAs. I found myself actually pulled off the K7 and decided to stop ad give this a go. Staff was over friendly, even for being a busy night. I am not sure why there are televisions only on one side. We sat on the opposite and were constantly looking at someone else's tv as we were waiting for our pizza. At first bite I was not thrilled with it, even though I was was really hungry. We started with a cheesy bread appetizer, which was huge for two people. I don't think we finished it. It was pretty good. The pizza, which was not from the buffet, was just average. Sausage was smallish pebbles, not very flavorful. It seems like they are in between, making sure they cater to the legion of families with young kids in the area but also trying to draw in adults later on. We're not quite in the former category yet, so the kids running around and balloons, etc., were a bit much. We'll probably go back, though we like the pizza at Sutera's better. read more

We've dined in several times in the last few months. The atmosphere is a hit with the kids. Free balloons when you leave, and a window to watch and learn about the pizza making process--both nice touches for kids. For our family, it's a great stop on a Friday evening. No pretentious wait staff, and very friend atmosphere. The pizza is very good, IMO. Maybe I like the style of crust (braided). Or maybe it's the fact they take a lot of pride in their product and only use fresh ingredients. The service is good too. Every time we've entered the restaurant, the wait staff act like they are truly glad you are there. That seems like it should be an automatic thing, but how many times have you walked into a restaurant only to be treated like someone has to go out of their way to seat and serve you? Every service-based business really boils down to leadership and management. Pizza West has it going in the right direction, and it shows in everything they do, from the smiles as you walk in to the clean restrooms. If you live near Shawnee, give it a try. We love this place. This is our go-to place for pizza - take out, delivery and especially their buffet nights. You can't beat the freshness of the ingredients, the quality of their food and the when you go for the buffet they actually ask you what pizza you want them to make - and they will make you just about anything you want. My kiddo loves to go into eat because of the mini televisions at the booths and one night a week they bring in a magician who makes crazy balloon animals. Make sure you grab some honey if you have some crust sitting on your plate and dip it for dessert. I'd also recommend any of the other desserts - they are awesome. When I say everything is house-made and delicious, what I really mean is EVERYTHING is House-made and DELICIOUS!!! The brothers who own PW and Knub's Pub (just down the strip mall) have done an excellent job with maintaining quality control. The service can occasionally be spotty, but that's because they hire teens to keep the cost down: "of the three, good food, good atmosphere, and good service, any restaurant must have at least two to survive." They DEFINITELY have the food down and that alone makes me want to eat there any chance I can; but, they also have the atmosphere right too: there are two sides, the front, with booths and individual, tunable (DirecTV service) at each booth so you can watch the game of your choice or keep the kids entertained, and the back, where there are myriad pinball machines and a somewhat more intimate atmosphere if you're more interested in talking. I've been here a couple of times for family events and while I do love the concept of a buffet, the back room for a family party, and the really sweet and helpful staff, I don't care for the pizza. Wow... Just wow.. This place is amazing. This is my first time here but i will definitely be back for more. Lunch buffets at pizza joints can be a little lackluster... Well not this place. Fresh hot pizzas constantly hit the line and you never have a dirty plate on the table for more than a minute. The servers are amazing and make you feel at home and they even ask if you want to go drinks which to me is ahuge plus. This is how a pizza joint should be ran. Our first visit was on a Sunday night just in time for the buffet. What a great way to try all kinds of pizza! We liked each one we tried, especially the taco pizza and cheeseburger pizza. When our server took our drink order, she asked what our favorite topping was. We told her Canadian bacon and about half way through our meal, she dropped off a couple pieces of Canadian bacon pizza for us. What great service! read more

LOVE PIZZA WEST! We've been there multiple times and we'll keep coming back. The food and service are fantastic and the prices are just right! You get a good amount of food for your money and the lunch time salad bar is really good too. Their food has lots of flavor and is better than a lot of homemade. We haven't found a restaurant anywhere that is more acommadating than at Pizza West. If you don't see what you want on the menu, they'll make it if possible. Their sandwhiches and pizza are in our best catagory. It's a very family friendly place with very friendly and fast servers. This place has great pizza! The bread is not too much dough and cooked to perfection. The taco pizza is fantastic along with any single topping pizza.
