Had Valentine's Day dinner tonight. Was late seated even with reservations. The cocktails was good. Ordered Chicken Marsala, the chicken was like rubber and sauce was not very flavorful. I asked for Chicken Parmesan same as my wife. The marinara on it was nothing special. I don't know if they were overbooked or overwhelmed but we did Not enjoying our time as we expected. It is sad but I must say we prefer Olive Garden over this establishment which we expected to get authentic Italian cuisine. read more

Ive lived in chino hills over 15 years and have never noticed pizzaiili. I was craving ravioli and googled nearby Italian restaurants. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess. I was so hungry that I ordered 2 meals just for myself, the steak w mashed potatoes, cheese ravioli, and tiramisu. Mmmmm soooooo delicious!! Our server jasmine was so sweet, the bus boy was friendly, and then the hostess asked us how our meal was when we were exiting. Great food and great service. This place was so great before the Pandemic. Last three times I've ordered have been a major disappointment. Lemon cake and Tiramisu tiny pieces and not same quality and price seems to be the same. I have been going to Pizzaioli for at least 10 years. Their food and service is wonderful. They serve complimentary Italian bread and bruschetta, which is always flavorful. I'm a huge fan of the tomato basil soup they serve on weekends (creamy with garlic cloves). The ahi tuna appetizer is great and their lamb chops are amongst the best I've ever had. My friends and I also enjoy the pasta piselli, pasta salsicce, lasagna, eggplant parmagiana, risotto and gnocchi. Desserts are great there too. I was there for New Year's Eve and had a blast. The owner came to our table and was ridiculously personable... Very friendly atmosphere and the food was great. My biggest pet peeve with italian places is when they serve you soggy pasta instead of al denti... Pizzaioli definitely doesn't have that issue. I spoke to a few locals and apparently the popular thing to do is order off their nightly special menu (apparently they usually have some very interesting choices... 16 years of eating here and the consistency, the quality and the generosity of this establishment is everything to us! The food is very good and very authentic. def the best Osso Bucco we've ever had. Wonderful bruschetta, fantastic wine selection, great cocktails, several craft beers on tap (and by "craft" I don't mean Stella or Shock top, those are pseudo-crafts) what more do you want? I have been going here for years and have never left disappointed. For starters the quality of food is up there with the best. The cocktail and wine list is extensive. Among my favorite entrees include the ahi with shishito peppers and I usually go for the weekly fish special as well. The Bronzino is to die for! Just had their squid ink homemade pasta! Yummm. Live close by and always pass by so 1st time last night and overall... 2 thumbs up. From our waitress last night to serious food porn. Had calamari, meatballs, clams for our starters. Did I mention the free bruschetta was out of this world. Appetizers where all yummy. My spiked lemonade on point and I love drinks on point or just yummy. For dinner ordered 4 filets and the only thing bad I have to say about that the out of the 4...2 where over cooked. Waitress did take care of one cause we notice half way after my son got to the middle was dry. My eggplant lasagna was delicious. My moms cheese tortellini was good and omg... The side of macaroni and cheese taste like butter...melts in your mouth. Overall we where all happy with meals. I have to mention my lemon desert cake was... Pretty dam good. Came here for dinner on a late Friday night, it wasn't too busy. The 3 of us ordered calamari fritti, insalata di salmone, carbonara, and frutti di mare, and a couple glasses of wine. The calamari took 30 minutes to come out and our salmon salad never made it before we finished with the entrees, so we had to cancel it. we also ordered their tiramisu, however, it was a bit too sweet to our taste. Overall, the food was decent, but the wait was wayyy too long. I think our server was running back and forth between tables and bartending. He didn't charge us for the tiramisu because of the long wait. Will try again and hopefully the service would be better next time. read more

Surprisingly good Italian food in a strip mall in Chino Hills. Nice menu, with seasonal selections. Great rack of lamb with risotto. Had a wonderful bottle of Italian red wine at a reasonable price. They even decanted it for us! read more

The only reason why I rated this place 3 Stars instead of 2..... 3 words... Complimentary Brushetta Bread. Everything else on the menu is your typical italian pasta dishes - greasy, heavy, creamy, full fat, heart attack on a plate. I tried to get the healthy thing on the menu, which was the seared ahi appetizer. It was gross. If I ever come here again I'm just going to get a bottle of wine and eat the bread and brushetta sauce for dinner. read more

This place is the business, been here several times and I am never disappointed. It's a little hidden but the environment inside is great, the servers have been very polite and tentative and always kept our drinks filled. I usually order the same dish since it is so freakin good, it's called Vino Bianco and it's a seafood pasta with a delicious sauce that's infused with jalapeño. Been here twice now. It's definitely a hidden gem in Chino Hills and the only true Italian restaurant in a few mile radius. The food is great and is prepared fresh every time. The only complain that I do have was that the kitchen does not seem to be prepared for more than 1 large party at a time. We were a large party among 3 others and our food took about 45 minutes to get to us. The manager was nice enough to hook us up with free dessert so it's nice that they recognize the excessive wait time. Otherwise the restaurant is a great place for family dinners or even a quiet date night with your significant other. The staff is very friendly and the place is very clean. Just went to dinner with a few friends there...and was somewhat dissapointed.. yeah, it's a non-chain restaurant (yay!), but the ambience was ruined by these 2 a-hole drunkards sitting next to us, dropping the F-Bomb so loud every 3 seconds, I swear I thought I was sitting in on a Chris Rock HBO special... It's nice being that it's right in the neighborhood but other than that I think it's alright. Bruschetta is alright, a bit watery. I think the part that gets me the most is we're all drilled into our head about al dente when it comes to pasta and it was not happenin' here. It's also pretty scary when a couple of the pasta gets stuck together, undercooked. I didn't find anything particularly ravishing about the place. Just want to reiterate that I love this place! For what it is-not fine dining, just good fatty-Patty pastas and other rich entrees, it is awesome! I love the full bar, the long wine list, the great service.. we come here for Valentine's each year and it is a decedent way to indulge. One of my favorite Italian restaurants and I am lucky it's not far away. However, I would have expected more crowded on a Saturday night. The restaurant was 1/4 empty. After having dinner there, I think I know why. Don't get me wrong. The food and serves were awesome. Love my server. Very friendly and helpful. The only compliant is the rise in the price of the dishes and the amount of food served for that increase in price. I mean if you want to up the price about 30% then I would expect little more to the dish, not less. I was disappointed with my linguine and clam. The sauce and claims were excellent but I wished for more linguine. The dish was half full. I was surprised esp when they charge $22 for it. Will I go again? Maybe yes but not as often. My In-laws come every week, and often my wife and I join them. One of the best Restaurant bars in the IE. For me, it is my favorite. I truly enjoy having a whisky, and the whisky and whiskey selection is excellent. The food is always just a little better than I expected, every time. Okay, I have to confess.... I've lived nearby since Pizzaioli opened over 20 years ago and today was my first time ever going in. I'm a little sad I hadn't been in earlier. For an Italian restaurant in this area, it hits the spot. First off, service was AMAZING. The waiter tonight and the busboy were just on top of it all. Not to mention, it was packed and I only had to wait 5 minutes to get a table without a reservation. Sweeeeeet. Now, let's get to what we all really care about... the food! Pricing was perhaps higher for Chino Hills, but not overly expensive by any means. After the complimentary bruschetta, I had the $23.00 lasagna and it was alright, but not mouth watering deliciousness. I wouldn't order it again. (Dan Tana's in West Hollywood, Micelli's in Hollywood, and even Buca de Beppo in all over triumph over the lasagna here.) That is the worst thing I can say about my experience. I also had some chicken and spinach Tortellini with a jalapeño cheese sauce and my taste buds were in overdrive. Next time, I will be ordering that for sure. I've never had anything like it. Additionally, I ordered a side of Brie Mac and Cheese. Heaven. I literally saw the good lord Baby Jesus' arms swoop down from above and cradle me in his arms and cover me in sweet lamb kisses. I do not like Mac and cheese in general, so for me to have this experience is nothing short of a miracle... oh and I'm an atheist. My entire party enjoyed it and will probably attempt to make some like it at home. They have a full selection of wines and spirits, but since I only drink when I'm in the club or at a trashy bar looking to enjoy a little night company, I abstained. My Diet Coke glass never went empty. My guest pillow on the other hand, is empty tonight. ;) We had dessert here as well. It was good... Sure, I wish it was larger, but this isn't the Olive Garden for crying out loud! Of Course, my stomach and inner bowels thank you for not being the Olive Garden. I wouldn't wish that on anybody.... well, maybe a couple of old teachers from Ayala High School in the 90s, but they are probably dead by now anyhow. The ice cream that came with the chocolate lava style cake is really good. I'm not a huge vanilla fan, but this had kick. It's definitely not Thrifty. For as crowded as it was on a Friday night, the food came quick and the entire staff was just really nice and polite. I don't mean polite in that fake Chino Hills server type of polite, but in a genuinely I'm happy to be here polite. It was a nice change of pace. The clientele wasn't dressy, but I do wish the big (I mean really big) girl in the Yoga pants and her kid with the iPad and headphones had gone to the Walmart Cafe across the street where they would have fit in a little better... but then again, I'm a snob and just assume she was bussed in from the bad side of Chino (is there even a good side of Chino???) or Pomona. Went here on a Thursday night. 07/26/12. We waited 45 minutes for our food. Of course, I do understand that they may have been busy, but about twenty minutes into the wait people began clearing out. Not only that, but after we had gotten our bread and eaten it, the waitress walked past us four times ignoring the empty basket. On the third time, she stopped, turn 180 degrees and looked at us, and walked away. Bread and bruschetta: Not good. Plain, room temperature bread with watery bruschetta that tasted like it had come directly from the fridge. Lasagna: Plain, regular lasagna with excessive amount of cheese and oddly tasting fridge like bolognese. Lukewarm. Prosciutto burger: The bun was good but the American Kobe beef patty was dry. Potatoes were good. I also ordered penne pasta with marinara and meatballs for my nephew, it came out with spaghetti and was drowned in sauce. Server seemed in a huge rush but stopped to casually converse with a group of regulars and ignored us. Needless to say, I will not be coming back. We went to Olive Garden in hopes to enjoy a regular meal out on a Saturday afternoon but the wait was too long so we decided to come check out Pizzaioli. There was no wait and we were seated promptly. Our waitress Cindy came to our table and hastily took our orders. We noticed immediately that she did not seem friendly nor did she want to explain anything to us. We attempted to meet her expectations by quickly ordering and letting her leave the table. When we received our food, two chicken Parmesan's and one lemon based linguine shrimp meal. Wewere immediately unimpressed and my friend could not even touch her linguine. I wanted to complain but she didn't want to and wanted to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt. Myself and my friends daughter noticed immediately that the chicken Parmesan noodles tasted like stater brothers brand and the tomato sauce was nothing short of canned. This was not the worst part about our time at the restaurant. Our waitress, whom we have been told is now the manager, was so short with us, never checked on us and basically treated us like we were poor. Now why would I jump to those conclusions? Well, there was a better dressed table next to us, And she rolled out the red carpet for them. When we asked her why we weren't given the same options, she explained to us that they are regulars. At that moment we felt like we weren't treated equally as everyone else. Yes, we wore jeans and a sweater because we work nonstop and we're enjoying a quick day out but, we had every intention of paying just as much as everyone else and enjoying the same quality time at the restaurant as anyone else. Therefore I am writing this review because I want somebody in upper management to consider who is representing their business. Cindy behaved like we were second-class citizens and treated us like we were a burden to her night at work. When we followed up with a phone call to ask to speak to the manager, we found out that she was in fact the manager. Madison answered the telephone and was reluctant to share any information about how to get a hold of somebody who can take note of the service that we experienced tonight. As a matter of fact, she was reluctant to even answer our questions and continue to drop the line on hold. I am not sure what is going on at this restaurant but we will never return. read more
