Went to Pizzaioli for the first time last night because we wanted a local Italian meal. While the food was very good, the service was slow and the kitchen was slow to deliver the food once ordered. Several customers had to get the attention of the wait staff to inquire about their orders and their check. The staff seemed unorganized and inefficient. The way the tables were setup in the dining room was akward, due to the Christmas tree display. We sat at the table by the entrance to the dining room and the wait staff repeatedly bumped my chair while passing by to serve the other guests. Not one wait staff member had the courtesy to appoligize for bumping into me. We probably will return, but for lunch when the crowd is smaller to sit at the bar and enjoy the food. read more

OK. Good service...a good alternative. That said. I thought that this place might have made the noble effort of bringing real culinary excellence to the Chino Valley. If that were the case, I'd give them a generous C+. It certainly has the appearance of wanting to do that. It also would enjoy a current national yearning for Italian cuisine that is more Italian countryside....and less Chino countryside. I didn't think that anyone (at this price range and in this decade) would still offer (even in an American suburb) such low value. I mean...a lukewarm lasagnia with a side of....STILL more pasta? Perhaps they should offer a side of potatoes too. (Yes..that is from a movie.). The overall dining ambiance (stripmall chairs, runned-down carpet, dilapitated and incomplete menus) were probably a good business decision, but unflattering...even for a $60 dinner. This was disappointing for an anniversary dinner. Sixty dollars can buy a really good dinner for two nowadays. I guess we got unlucky here. Our server(s) were kind and attentive...very much so. Since the price was not low, why not go all the way and run an excellent restaurant with fresh ideas? I would certainly return there on that hope alone. I admittedly ordered only simple things; Lasagna and Bean Soup. But then again..simple things should be the easiest to perfect. I am grateful that his restaurant is here in that it offers a tasty portion of carbohydrates for a hasty lunch or dinner...so as to move onto after-dinner activities or to save on baby-siting. It is also a welcome alternative to the sea of mediocre franchises in Chino and Chino Hills. But at this price range..it could have done MUCH better. read more

This used to be a regular stop for me, so we made sure to visit when we were in the Chino area. I like the bruschetta that is given when you arrive, that is something I remembered from years ago...it's a nice touch. I ordered the chicken Parmesan and my wife ordered the eggplant Parmesan. If I had to choose between the two, it would be the eggplant. They have a nice patio that really doesn't look out to anything and restaurant itself is small but nice! read more

Been living in Chino Hills area for over 14 years. We've been coming to this restaurant off and on since living in Chino Hills. Had not been to the restaurant in almost a year. This last dinner was not what we had expected. The food was, at best, mediocre. I had noticed the last couple of times that I had eaten there, the prices had gone up. My husband and I went out on a date night and wanted to stay in the area, so we came, ate, and left disappointed. We both do not drink and did not order any drinks or appetizers or salads, and our bill was $100 with tip, which included 2 entrees and dessert. We left feeling very disappointed because the food was definitely not worth the $100 spent. Service was good and our waitress was friendly. Our biggest complaint was definitely the food and the ambiance. The restaurant definitely needs a fresh coat of paint and the bathrooms are in need of remodeling. We will not be wasting our money in this restaurant in the future. read more

We have been going there for a few years. Food is pretty good. We like the lasagna and the chicken marsala. Lately we've been using delivery services to get our meals but I feel they dont really want to do that. The last two times we've ordered through Door Dash and Uber Eats, the order can't be found when the driver gets there. But, voila , suddenly they find it and the driver has to wait while they prepare the order. If you don't want to accommodate folks that can't get out to your restaurant, then don't offer the service. We went there to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was not what we had hoped for or had experienced in the past. The servers were very young and inexperienced. Ours forgot to bring my salad, so I just cancelled it. We ordered the bruschetta appetizer. It was very bland and flavorless. Hardly any basil or garlic. I ordered a pizza, which was okay, not spectacular. The prices are very high, so we had expectations that that would be reflected in quality of the food and the experience , but unfortunately the only notable moment was when we got the bill. This place is pretty good. When on a weekday lunch time, not too crowded, and the place is setup nicely. They have a professional bar, unlike the rowdy ones you usually see today, and 2 different dining areas, plus an outside patio area too. Service is great, quick checkups on the time we went. Food was pretty good, had the italian sausages for appetizer and venison for the main course. The venison was prepared just right imo. Definitely worth coming back to, if not for the food, but for the tuesday wine tastings :) read more

When Chino had no restaurants pizzaioli was one of the best and still is. Staff is always super nice, I like sitting at the bar. Sometimes the chef will make you some special items if you tell them what you are in the mood for. My favorites are the tomato bisque on Saturdays(but only served on Saturday) and the Filet mignon. Great cut of meat and the reduction merlot sauce is always a plus. For rookies don't eat all the bread at the beginning no matter how good it is. You will be full by the time your meal comes. In addition great wine and hard alcohol selection. read more

Not many Italian restaurants in the area and this is not one of them either. The ambiance is an Italian restaurant feel but the food is below average. Ordered drinks and it took 15 minutes. Calamari was undercooked. Lasagna is nothing spectacular something that you could get at frozen foods in Trader Joes. Didnt bother with desert. We had them cater a dinner party we did for a dozen people. We had them bring the Chicken Marsala, a red pasta dish, and they made a shrimp scampi angel hair pasta by request. We also had bruchetta and salad. We were privileged to have the owner, Chris, and her daughter Lauren come out to serve and help keep the party moving along. Everything from the food to the cheery help was fantastic. We received rave reviews and Pizzaioli's business will undoubtedly feel the impact from these people that we introduced to their outstanding food. It was a real treat!!! read more

The last time I visited the food was good. This time not so good. My wife and I went here for lunch and found out there is no lunch menu only a dinner menu so we had to pay dinner prices. She had their pizza which I will say was good. I was looking in the menu for something with Italian sausage and found nothing so I decided on the pasta in a marinara sauce with meatballs. I got a good portion of pasta with a meat marinara sauce. The sauce was okay not too much flavor and the pasta was cooked well. The meatballs were terrible and contained so much breading in it that when I cut into it, it fell apart. When I ate one it was very mushy and tasteless. I will say that I feel the prices for their food is very high for what you get, especially for the City of Chino. One more thing they do not have Gluten free pasta or pizza. We have been here 3-4 times and have enjoyed every dish that we have tried. My go-to dish is the chicken tortellini with jalapeno alfredo sauce! Bruschetta is always great as a starter as well. We enjoy their wine- way tooo much, but that's ok! I think it seems pricey because of their location- you would expect to pay those prices outside of a strip mall- but we do keep coming back! Tom and Kris are amazing. Their home made bread and bruschetta will keep you coming back almost as much as their warm hospitality. This place has been in Chino for over 20 years and it's the best Italian place around. I love this place and all of the amazing food they make. Strongly recommend their gamberetti appetizer. I promise you that you will send the plate back cleaner then if they washed it. We are regular patrons of Pizzaioli, and have always enjoyed their food, and the atmosphere. Our last many visits, the food has declined. But the prices have not..even seems they have increased. My husband ordered salmon that was atop a salad. The salmon was about the size of two thumbs, and the salad was wilted. It cost $47. Our last few experiences have just not been good, food and price wise. Since The Olive Garden opened, seems that you have lost some business. I haven't eaten there in years, but they were always consistent and their prices are affordable. At this point, I might rather eat there. read more

Not worth the money. Everything is over priced. Fine dining prices without the fine dining atmosphere, without the impeccable customer service, and without innovative, exciting blend of flavors. Food was good -- but not remotely comparable to the food we get for the same price point in san francisco. However, the bruschetta was great. Service was good, busboy attentive. Ambience is lame:: we went on a Friday night - the obvious regulars or "in crowd" sit at the bar and are visited by and chat with servers, owners and bartenders...it's a little snooty-like in a cheesy upscale sports bar type way. The room is very loud, hard to hear conversation at your own table or even the server recite the specials. There are TV's showing sporting games on the walls. I was confused if I was at a sports bar, an Italian restaurant or, if you glance at menu prices, a fine dining restaurant. Utterly confusing. Worst of all was waiting 45 minutes for our food and when we got it there were a couple problems.: 1st- my filet ordered medium rare, was cooked well below the chef standard for rare. Easy fix ...sent it back, they finished cooking it and brought it back medium rare. It was good. It did take 10-15 minutes before I got it back tho. But really? I've never had to send a $42 steak back to a kitchen to be cooked to the appropriate temperature 2nd- the roasted chicken dish we ordered (because it looked amazing we saw it delivered to the adjacent table) came out looking pathetic in comparison. The half chicken on our plate must not have been a full grown hen because it was noticeably smaller than the previous dish that came out. This was not easily fixed...actually it never really was fixed. We told the server our concern and she explained that the chicken was hormone free and left it at that. The chicken was overcooked and dry. We then complained to the busboy. The server came back again...it became an ordeal almost an argument...they really didn't want to do anything about it. They finally sent the manager to the table and it was worked out that they would make it again and add more chicken. So we waited another 20 min or so for a decently cooked half chicken that was a bit larger than the first with 3 small chicken breast medallions on the side--which they added $8 for to the already ridiculous price of $28 for a total of $36 During the drama, the owners were seen whispering by the cash register with our server to find out what the issue was, but never came over to help sort out the dilemma -they sent their young daughter over who was the manager...obviously never formally trained in restaurant business. They obviously do not have the class , education or experience that it takes to run a fine dining establishment. As a frequent fine diner, I have never had a piece of meat served overcooked or undercooked to me. I rarely complain and this is the first review I have ever written. But, if and when there has ever been the slightest issue at a true fine dining establishment, the maître de or manager immediately comes to the table after informed by the server and it is fixed with out dismissive behavior, arguing, additional charges, or cheesy whispering. Needless to say, it's not worthy of a return trip. These people would be better off sticking to something they might have more in common with - Like casual dining, sportsbar, tavern, etc. read more

I've been coming here over 10 years, my aunt was a bartender here when I was a kid and my grandparents have lived in Pomona all my life, so this place is a first choice for us all when we arrange a family dinner. The bread and bruschetta could serve as our main dish, it's so delicious. My grandfather makes it a point to order the special every time we go because their entrees are always excellent. I would recommend pizzaioli to anyone looking for great Italian food, and I'd also recommend outside seating when weather permits, we always sit out on the patio and enjoy each others company. read more
