I finally made it here. I came here for one reason and my review is based on that reason. This is a small, no-frills establishment. There is street parking available. We ordered via telephone and picked our items up and brought them home. The main event was the meatball parm sandwich. The best meatball parm sandwich I have had. Meatballs were fresh and perfectly seasoned. Not the usual "hard meatballs" you get from a pizza place. Sauce was plentiful and had a great kick to it. Add to it the perfect sound of mozzarella and a sprinkle of parmesan. Absolutely out of this world. The bread, which can ruin a great sandwich, was equally as good. Perfect crisp to the Italian bread. And yes, it was consistent. We ordered 3 meatball sandwiches and 1 sausage sandwich and EVERYONE commented on the bread as well. We also got a Brooklyn Pie. The pie wasn't my speed. A little doughy but I would like to try a traditional round. Again, not my style and we went solely for the meatballs but grabbed a pie as an extra. If you're in the area, you have to try it. If you're an hour away, you still have to try it. read more

I went here starving after just leaving a overnight shift. I'm African American and they were very unwelcoming and you can sense that my presence was not welcomed there. I asks the guy "Do you accept Apple Pay" His response: If we want to , yea" I didn't have my purse so I had two different payment methods. I immediately lost my appetite. The place is so cheap and ran down that it was difficult opening the door. Once I got the door open , he proceeded to yell to me " CLOSE MY DOOR" as if I was a 10year old child. Ver disgusting mannerism and attitude and I do not recommend any African American or Hispanic person to support this easily establishment. read more

The meatball is definitely homemade and has that unique taste to it. But I preferred it to be more well done, that's just a personal preference. The cheese used is worlds better than a lot a pizza joints who makes save type of subs. The sauce also was good. I'm not a fan of the hard roll and like I said earlier I would have preferred the meatballs to be cooked a bit longer. Other than minor differences, this place is legit . read more

Five stars for Pizzamore. The meatball parm might actually be the best in Jersey. The cheese was perfectly melted--gooey, rich, and packed with flavor. The bread? Unreal. Crisp on the outside, soft and chewy inside, holding everything together without falling apart. The meatballs and sauce were great too, but honestly, the cheese and bread steal the show. Winnie, our dog, loved the meatballs--she was all over it. The cheese pizza was excellent too: great balance of sauce and cheese, a little flop but mostly sturdy, and the undercarriage had that slight char that hints at wood-fired. Crust was so good Winnie went back for more. It's a tiny hole in the wall, easy to miss, but that's part of the charm. Some guy was just chilling there on a Sunday--might've been the owner or just a friend--but it added to the authentic, no-frills vibe. Nothing fancy, just damn good food. read more

PizzAmore is a small, hole in the wall joint located in a quiet residential section only a few blocks from Route 17. Be aware they currently close up by 8pm ( 7pm on Sunday). One of my proudest moments in almost 300 reviews... Owner John Speciale, from the old neighborhood I grew up in, is an infamous Foodie Savant. Owner of multiple pizzerias over the years, his current place is on the money. He has created the best meatball around and not just in my opinion. 3-years in a row award-winning best meatball in the state of NJ! (and I heard NY wants a challenge) If you grew up here in NJ , you know this is no easy feat. And this reviewer has had more than his share of Italian pizzeria food. Small menu but has everything you need. He must bake the bread he makes his sandwiches on because between the loads of fresh mozzarella, the tomato sauce, and those big, perfect meatballs, its the Best meatball hero. AND PIZZA ? I grabbed a few slices of Grandma-style pizza to go. In case you don't know, Grandma pizza consists of a sheet pan style pizza baked with mozzarella, plum tomatoes, fresh garlic, Pecorino Romano, and oregano. ( Note: he uses REAL deal Pecorino Romano, something that you may not realize can make something good into something excellent.) It was perfect. Even when boxing it up he added some nice basil leaves and sprinkled some olive oil on top. That's someone who knows how to serve the product the right way. Top shelf ingredients on everything. This may be the rudest place I've ever been to. The waitress couldn't have been both more annoyed or arrogant. The slice pizza at 530 on a Sunday night was old and dry . When asked about the meatball sizes at 2 for $10 the gentleman said what's the difference the size they are the best. So are a dried sliced never bought the meatballs and will never go back read more

Def a true Italian pizza spot. Meatball was delicious juicy and flavor packed. Loved the itlians being Italian. Full of energy and passion for the food. The ginger ale made by them is better than regular soda. Not as carbonated but delicious. Pizza was crispy in the perfect way not overdone. With the right amount of toppings. 10/10. I finally got to try this place, and I didn't regret it one bit. I had a meatball parm sandwich, generously portioned and gently priced for what you get. Looking forward to going back and trying other selections. So far, definitely recommended. Friendly service, good food and generous servings and gently priced. You might not walk away thinking it was the best meal you ever had, but it's still very good and well worth it. If you're in the area, consider this an option. Go and enjoy! read more

Second stop was PizzAmore in Carlstadt to try these famous meatballs. Great hospitality by Cheech, and super helpful. My dad and I got a couple meatball parms. Bread was perfectly toasted, cheese was amazing (shoulda got a vid of the cheese pull, i failed on that), only critique I had is I felt like the sauce and balls were a bit underseasoned but taste is relative and for other people it may be perfect. I really really enjoyed this sandwich and experience. You won't leave here hungry that's for sure! read more

I want to give the highest praise to PizzAmore and its owner!! We ordered almost $100-worth of food (a pie, chicken fingers, meatball sub - OMG SO GOOD!!). Around the time that the food was supposed to be delivered, I received a cancelation notice from Grubhub! Due to an unpleasant exchange with the Grubhub driver, our order was canceled. First time trying, but I was shocked at how mediocre at best it was. Meatballs were tasteless. The bread and sauce were OK, but nothing special. The meatballs themselves had absolutely no seasoning and were totally bland. The pizza slices tasted like they'd been microwaved or had been sitting out for days (we bought the food at dinnertime - pretty normal time to get a meatball parm & a few slices). Later on, I had to run to the bathroom so no fun there, either. We threw out the leftovers. No idea how this place has awards - maybe they've gone downhill sharply recently? With so much good pizza and heros in the area, would recommend most of them above this, sadly. Really bummed as I had high hopes for a great meatball parm! read more

When I first ordered here it was when they first opened and it was just okay. I decided to give it another shot, I got a chicken parm sandwich extra cheese and disco fries. The fries were good and crispy, the chicken parm was absolutely delicious. I am currently stuffed out of my face and don't wanna move. Only thing I would add is just to add a little more gravy the disco fries, other than that, I see myself ordering here again to try something else. read more

My date got the chicken Romano, which was served with a spicy rigatoni vodka and burrata. Her dish was so good and a very generous portion. I also loved that it was a BYO - seems like there are less and less of these type of restaurants these days. I will definitely go back to try some of the other appetizers and entrees. In the nicer months they have some outside tables and plenty of tables inside. The service is always great! They have a pretty big food menu and also many different options for pizza types. They always have specials going on as well. I have not tried many of the different food options as I typically opt for some of the many different slice options they have out on the counter. They always have a wide array of different slices, and I have never had a bad slice. They definitely have some of my favorite specialty slices in the area.
