My son works for the federal government. Yesterday was his last day of getting paid for his job due to the government shut down. This was my first time visiting and the food was wonderful. I am a worker affected by the shutdown and I saw an article where the owner (Neal) invited us to come and eat and it would be covered . I wasn't sure if I was going to come but I thought I have to watch my money. My friend and I another worker affected by the shutdown brought the kids to eat. This is not your traditional pizza. It is fired in the oven so there may be some burnt chewy edges but it is good for something different. Try a unique mix to really experience this place. Kids weren't fans but this is more of an adult pizza. read more

This place lives up to the hype. Really intimate seating area and the decor is minimalistic which just feels right here. Our server was just the right kind of attentive and did an excellent job. We tried Tony's Fritters and they were perfect. The Lombardy was fantasticly fresh tasting. You should definitely go with a group so that you can order several pizzas and try them all. Took the whole family out on a Friday night. We got their early. We heard it is packed on Friday nights. Our server was great. My ten year old liked her buttered noodles- bless her heart and narrow list of foods that she eats. We ordered the four cheese pizza with pepperoni and sausage. I was disappointed in the pizza. The crust was burnt and soggy. The toppings were good but the taste of the soggy burnt crust was a deal breaker. I would give this place another chance. If you haven't had pizzology pizza, run, do not walk. It is seriously good. And not only good, they do something magical with their ingredient selections. If you're a mushroom fan, I definitely recommend the white devil. The service is great and the atmosphere is inviting. I'm not a lover of pizza, but Pizzology doesn't offer a typical pizza. Our entire family enjoys the food and ambiance. I've never experienced snooty diners or staff the dozens of times we've dined. My daughter loves the window seat where she can watch the pizzas being made. She especially enjoys the breadsticks (which comes with a marinara and bechamel sauce). Oh man we wanted to like this place so much more than we did... We ordered take-out because it's close to us and were pretty disappointed. Went with the house chopped salad, corn and jalapeno risotto, and white devil pizza. The risotto was undercooked to the point that the rice was hard and white in the middle (debated driving back but just threw it it in the microwave. We were hungry). The chopped salad was good and the dressing really tasty. As for the pizza? The mushrooms were practically raw, and the flavor was nice and garlicky but it lacked some extra element (acidity?) beyond just mushrooms/garlic/salt. We plan to go back again and try something else, but for a $30+ takeout meal we definitely expected more. read more

I ordered dinner for the family through GrubHub. It came, but minus the chicken parm. I had the driver wait while I called the restaurant. Pizzology informed me that they were out of it so they just sent the rest and refunded through GrubHub. I asked why they didn't just call me because I would have switched it out for something comparable. Instead, someone doesn't get dinner! They let me speak to the manager, Cassie, who said "yeah, I guess we should have called. Sorry. But we always tell people to order directly from us and not through GH." Seriously? That's your answer? She did nothing to rectify the situation or make up for it. Horrible customer service. I will not be ordering, visiting, or anything else from them again! read more

Good food, spotty service. It seems that the day we went, it was "new trainee day" for the staff, or may be they put all their money into the people who cook the food. The meal started off with the server asking us what we wanted to drink, and when we didn't order any alcohol, he seemed visibly disappointed (beverages, especially wine and beer, are items with the highest mark-up at restaurants). That's the first sign of poor service: when they're visibly more interested in making money than they are in ensuring that you like the food and overall experience. The server then spilled a drink all over the table, and on one person in our party. Although they dutifully cleaned up the spill, there was one lukewarm apology, and they didn't offer to move us, or compensate in any way. A more experienced server and/or manager would probably have offered to comp. at least one of the items we ordered, or maybe the drinks. We ordered 4 items from the menu, and they were all delicious. The starters better than the mains, actually. Other notes about the atmosphere: There was a pretty diverse crowd (e.g., many shades of people), and many ages. Yay! They are trying to do unique, high quality food, and for the most part, they succeed-- even with reasonable prices. Which is why they get 3 stars, and not 2. But does the atmosphere have to be so self-consciously hip? The entire place, including the music and the bathrooms, shouts "We're cool! Slightly cooler than our customers!" I will come back, for the food. But, unfortunately...not before I try out some other pizza places. read more

My husband and I love this place. We can go to get something as simple as breadsticks and cheese pizza with our kids or enjoy and adult night out as we sip some wine in the bar and get pretty much any other pizza we have tried. We have loved everything so far, and have not been disappointed. We don't usually see a lot of kids when we go, but if we sit at the counter where they make pizzas and go early in the evening before it gets too crowded, our kids are usually entertained and we can get in and out quickly. I'm wondering why the breadsticks are not on the menu... they are great (especially the cheese sauce), and we missed them the first time or two we were there until we noticed that another table had them. Now we can't go in without ordering them. The pizza is different from the typical, but it's usually my first choice when I have a pizza craving! read more

This place is great. We always come here when we are in town Visiting my parents. To start, they have a great list of wine and beer, with a couple of local beer options. You must start with the mussels! They are cooked in a white wine sauce that is filled with garlic and salami and exploding with flavor. While the mussels are delicious, the star here is the broth. They give you there awesome breadsticks to dip into the sauce and soak up the juice. I recommend that you order extra breadsticks ahead of time because after your first dip, you will definitely want more. We always save the juice to dip are pizza crust in as well. Best mussels I have ever had. We always get the cheese pizza and add sausage and mushrooms. For a brick oven pizza, they do a great job making a crispy crust and have fresh and tasty toppings. read more

I truly love me some Pizzology and am so glad the downtown location is open since I can rarely talk my husband into driving up to Carmel for any reason. I could eat the breadsticks and dipping sauces every day (not on the menu, but if you love bread you should ask for them. Trust me). The pizza is good too - I like the soft slightly chewy crust which is perfect for using up the rest of the dipping sauces. The topping have always been top notch as well. Love it all. read more

I think this place is a bit over rated. This is brick oven pizza that meets expectations - but you can find pizza like this in a lot of places. And pay a lot less for it. The beer list is good with some local options. The prices here aren't bad if you pick from their list of pre-designed pizzas. But creating your own will put you in the poor house ($3-$5 a topping...really?). Sausage and fennel pie with the giardiniera was good - but giardiniera could have been more flavorful. Go to Rockstone in Fishers for much better pizza. Even Brixxs is better. read more

Love their pizzas... one of my favorites on the north side. I really like the small house salad and always substitute fresh mozzarella for the gorgonzola cheese. It's a somewhat unusual mix of ingredients (onions, green olives, roasted tomatoes, prosciutto, lemon/olive oil dressing) but it comes together beautifully and is always perfectly balanced. I just love it. I've been about six times and I think the pizzas somehow get better and better with every visit. My favorite is the one with sausage and fennel... or the pepperoni with fresh oregano and peppedew peppers. The crust is always perfect with just the right amount of subtle "char" and "chew".
