    Steak and egg tacos
    David S.

Far exceeded expectations from the average looking empty hotel dining room. Salmon dinner was perfect, charred and citrusy over a rich risotto. Break steak tacos were THE BEST EVER! mini flour tortillas and juicy steak with guacamole. Omg. Chef Primo just won my best of Scottsdale award. Front desk and servers all made a memorable experience for a guy traveling alone on Easter. Thank you.

    Caesar salad with salmon

Very nice staff with great view. Drinks from the bar were nice and strong. I had the Caesar salad with salmon with was very good. There are bald eagles that you can see on the trees from the outdoor patio. Amazing.

What an amazing place! My husband and I had a very nice dinner with a view of the lake. First we were disappointed because the menu on their website didn't match what they actually had at the restaurant. However, we still had a vert pleasant experience. The food was delicious and the service was good. We will be back next time we are in town.

Living in McCormick Ranch has allowed us to find some hidden treasures. The Pinion Grill in the McCormick is a nice place to enjoy some of Scottsdale scenery. The patio has done of the must beautiful vistas overlooking the lake at McCormick Golf Club. The only negative is the lack of a happy hour. Homero event manager and Antonio the bartender filled us in on the event scene at the hotel and in the neighborhood. Come at sunset. After my review Homero brought out a sample of the lettuce wraps. Awesome! Thanks!

    Beautiful romantic patio dining.

Looking for a romantic dining experience with below average food? Here it is. We were excited to try this place because we'd heard about the patio seating overlooking a lake, romantic lighting, and even an outdoor fire pit. But as we were being seated, we noticed the restaurant was almost empty. Not a good sign. It took a while for a server to approach our table. When we asked to see the prix fixe menu, he seemed annoyed. We decided against ordering from the prix fixe menu anyway, because it was solely Irish food designed to commemorate St. Patrick's Day, even though we were there a week or so after the holiday. It took another long while to actually place our food order. I also asked for an ice tea refill, which never came. This is not the kind of service you'd expect for a "fine dining" experience. As for the food, after our salad course, we were presented with a complimentary amuse bouche which was a little bit of olive oil, cheese, and a cherry tomato, served stylishly in a shot glass (see pic). This seemed like a promising way to start our meal. My husband had the filet and he said it was good. I had the pork chop and it was awful. Most of it was grizzled fat, and when I could find a pocket of lean meat, it was dry and flavorless. I'm usually not one to complain, but the meat was so tough, I had difficulty cutting it, even with a big steak knife. I should have returned it, but I didn't want to make a scene in such a beautiful environment. I regret that decision. Yes, the patio setting is lovely, but given the poor service and sub-standard food, we won't be returning

The restaurant was awesome experience. Food and service was superb. The lake side view with fire pit was to die for. I loved it

Chicken Quesadilla, Creme Bruless, Arcioch (sp) Scallops

This place is really trying to be upscale, but it's not. To me an upscale place is where you can't afford to bring your little brats. First, the good. The staff was friendly and prompt. Refills kept on coming. I ate here for 6 meals over my 2 day stay at the resort and I never ordered the same dish twice just so I could try a variety. Here is a rundown of what I ate and the quality: -Chicken Quesadilla: So soggy it was falling apart, inedible -Arcioech (sp) Scallops: It's Arizona, there are no fresh scallops. They were overcooked and the seared spices were a soggy mess. The potatoes and Dijon dressing were great though. -Eggs Benedict: Very good, cooked perfectly. They do it a little different and give you smoked salmon instead of canadian bacon. Not a bad change but they were a little cheap on the quantity of salmon. -Matador Hamburger: Fantastic burger and they will cook it rare. If you order one well done, you shouldn't be allowed to review any red meat. -Center Cut Filet: Obviously not a prime cut. Perfectly cooked and seared. Veggies were also well seasoned and not overcooked. Good choice. -Salmon: Great seasoning, slightly overcooked and bizarre sauce with the consistency of pudding under the garnish. The sauce added nothing to the fish. -Creme Brulee: Very nicely done, maybe a little too much heat on the sugar, but still delish! -Caprese Salad: Tomatoes were flavorless and old (dried out appearance). Mozzarella was obviously a Costco purchase (not bad though). If I wasn't eating here for free, I would balk at it just for the prices let alone the mixed quality of the food. No hot waitresses here, but the server staff was great.

We were told by the manager Gary Mlinarich we couldn't use the Groupon we bought because 'it wasn't printed' even though the terms say you can show the voucher from the mobile app. He was very rude to us and was heard mumbling rude things out loud as he walked away from our table. We will never go back.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that happy hour lasted until 6 pm. We ordered a variety of dishes and truly enjoyed every single one. The kids menu is fantastic too. My son's meal came with salmon skewers, a huge serving of fries, fresh fruit and an adult sized cookie (that we had to sample for quality control). The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. While my husband really enjoyed our meal, I think this restaurant would be great for a girls dinner. Small plates, an extensive wine list, and a great patio. We'll be back for sure!

I really liked how stylish and beautiful the restaurant was. It would be a great spot for a date night. We ordered several dishes to share. I was really looking forward to the Nordic salmon salt block sashimi but the slices were too thin to hold up to the salt and felt like the block was the main attraction. Nordic salmon sweet sesame rice bowl was highly recommended by the server. It was good but overly sweet and the serving size was pretty small. We ordered Korean beef tacos topped with raw kimchi. Wasn't impressed with the beef which was just meh and lacking a rich and good flavor. At $5 each the tacos fell short in execution as the flavors and combination didn't work. The best dish was the tempura green beans which were light and crispy. I didn't care for the aioli it came with though as it was super sweet. I had to mix in a garlic aioli to make it ok. The ambience felt elevated but unfortunately the food didn't match. I didn't expect to find flaws with every dish we tried which was disappointing. Our server was acceptable but was not engaging. I'm glad I finally experienced this restaurant but don't see myself returning.

Parking wasn't an issue in the large, complimentary lot they share with a bunch of other businesses. Ambiance (3.5/5): Pretty much your typical well-kept bar and restaurant. We sat at the bar, though there is plenty of table and booth seating if that's more your jam. Service (4/5): Our bartender was new but she was super friendly and accommodating. I had to grab her attention a few times, but overall, solid. Drinks (4/5): One of the nice things about The Parlay is that they have happy hour every day until 6. We took advantage of it for the last 45 minutes or so. Happy hour consists of discounts off of their cocktails and appetizers, which both are large lists. I enjoyed two drinks off of the happy hour menu including one with a huge smoke bubble. My third time having a drink like this and always a good time. I think the bartender got the ingredients off a slight bit, but she'll get better with practice. Food (3/5): The food is a hit and a miss. I had three appetizers: the fried avocado, the steak bites, and the pretzels with fondue cheese. The best of the bunch is the fried avocado. Think of an avocado deep fried in the same way you see a bunch of foods at the carnival. Pretty much anything is good in this format, am I right? Beyond the avocado, it was served on a bed of a corn and crema slaw of sorts which was delicious. Good portion size. In the middle were the pretzels. I love cheese so this is my type of appetizer. The soft pretzels were soft and buttered well. Solid but a smaller portion size than I anticipated. And lastly, the steak bites. They're served with flat fries and drizzled with a sweet sauce. Good portion. The problem. I ordered it medium rare and it was well done. You can't mess up steak like this. You shouldn't even serve it. The chef messed up so he or she should have started over. I'm not the type that returns dishes so I ate it, but it took away from the dish a lot. While I wouldn't run to come back to The Parlay, if happy hour is involved, and I'm in the area, I'd check it out again. Hopefully they can work out some of the kinks.
