I would like to share a recent experience that I had at Walker Ford…read more I have purchased three vehicles from Walker in the past, dating all the way back to the early 2000s, and I was anticipating another good experience when I went to the dealership a few weeks ago. My husband and I are ( were) in the market for a 2025 F150. We wanted to take advantage of the 0% interest for 60 months incentive. We stopped into the dealership on March 14th. Jake met us as we arrived. We spent about an hour looking at the inventory and narrowing down the trucks that were of interest to us. ( XLT, 2WD, 4 door crew cab). Jake handed us a piece of paper when we left with the trucks VIN number and price. During the next 2 weeks, we visited other dealerships and I was in communication with Jake asking various questions about the truck at Walker. We decided to purchase the truck at Walker. I called Jake and asked him to send me the proposal so I could give him a deposit. He said that we could do the bulk of the paperwork electronically, which we were happy about. When I received the proposal, the price of the vehicle was inflated almost $14,000. I called him immediately. He told me that the Internet price was only available if we paid cash! At no time, EVER, in my talking with him, my texting with him or looking at the trucks in person did he tell me that the Internet price was only available if we paid cash. In fact, he knew that we were looking at the 2025's to take advantage of the 0% interest. When I questioned him about this in detail, he said it was on the website. I looked over the website, and unless it's buried in some tiny fine detail, It's not obvious that paying cash is the only way to get an Internet price. We were extremely surprised and obviously disappointed. Does it really matter to a dealership if I pay cash or if I finance the vehicle? Either I'm paying you for the car or the bank is. How I pay for it, should be irrelevant. The worst part about the whole experience was a statement that Jake made at the end of our phone conversation. Jake said..."When you go to another dealership and they screw you over worse, you can give me a call". Since the early 2000s, anytime I've purchased a vehicle with Walker Ford, it has been a good experience This time, not so much

Went to pick it up one time while waiting for the incorrect part they ordered to be replaced...fuse box was hanging open, door panel not fully installed, and car was filthy (along w almost out of gas as they drove it back and forth to Mini dealer). A car can be built from cradle to grave in 24 hours, but they can't repair one in eight weeks. The kept it another day and removed the correct seat this time. When I went to pay, I noticed a total of 8 hours of labor. Which is ridiculous as my service rep texted me "All done" 2 hours after the technician started working on it the 2nd day. Which obviously means he took ONLY 2 hours the first day. Therefore, a Total of 4 hours should be billed as I have proof of her text to me "All Don" just 2 hours after he started. I have tried to communicate that to the service rep which she directed me to her manager. The problem is that they seemed to have masked some issues to make a sale. I do sales myself, and am very transparent with my customers. But I've gone back in recent years and tested out some decent cars, and some questionable cars. But I did buy a Cherokee from there and it was a wonderful suv. So you really just need the proper knowledge on what you're buying. And being able to asses or take it to get it assessed for any issues it might have. They seem to be good about letting you take the vehicle to be inspected. So do that if you aren't feeling sure. But it's generally a good idea to have a vehicle inspected before you buy it, especially if you're not familiar with it. I know that's mostly a thing for private sales. Both offer preset pricing, so no haggling. Fiirst, their web site sucks. It is slow, search parameters do not correctly reflect options on the cars. I found a 2013 Infinity JX35, 17k miles at a great price! but website did not indicate Navigation. I called around within HERTZ and NO one could tell me whether it did or did not. As I was coming in from out of town, I did not want to get there and find out the car did NOT have navigation. I ended up calling the Sarasota location (even though the pick up was at a Tampa location) and within an hour these guys got me the details. As a result, I flew in from Chicago and did the rent to own, and 3 days later, I am in the process of buying the car. While I was down there, I met John and all of the sales guys..I typically HATE car sales guys, but these guys were great! and knowledgeable about the cars and process. Here is the letter I wrote to the general manager: SUBJECT: John Coyle --an example of excellent customer service Jeries- I have been using Hertz Sales web site to search for my next car purchase over the last month. I have found that the site's search results do not accurately reflect the options/features that vehicle actually has. Earlier this week, I found a 2013 Infinity JX30 that is under the 'rent to buy' program. It indicated that the car was out of the Tampa sales office (I am located in Chicago). I have called customer service a couple of times and they apparently can only see what the customer sees...so they could NOT confirm whether the unit I am interested in had Navigation. So I called a Tampa sales office and talked to John Coyle. He said that the sales location he is at is not currently involved in the 'rent-to-buy' program, but he would be happy to help me get answers to my questions. He took my name, number and the car's unit and VIN numbers and said he would follow up. In less than an hour, John called me back and said he had talked to a department that confirmed that the original invoice for 'my' car indicates it had Navigation. Additionally, he went on to make sure I understood the warranty differences when buying a 'rent-to-buy' vs buying a Hertz certified vehicle. I feel that John went above and beyond, especially considering his office does not even offer the 'rent-to-buy' program..and hence, his office will not 'get the sale'. His knowledge of the program and the process is excellent and he made sure I understood everything. He got me answers that no one else seemed to be able to provide me. Bottom line, because of John, I am reserving the vehicle with all intentions to purchase it. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or clarifications. Thank You!

After several days of phone calls and emails encouraging me to come in, the dealership prepared a written proposal for a new 2026 Hyundai Elantra SE with my 2012 Elantra Touring in trade. The agreed out-the-door price was $19,993.46, and my wife and I came to the dealership on July 4 fully intending to complete the purchase. After spending considerable time completing paperwork, the deal was stopped at the last minute because the illumination for my odometer display had become intermittent. The odometer itself still records mileage correctly (approximately 51,500 miles), but because the display was not illuminated at that moment, I was told the dealership could not verify the mileage electronically and therefore could not accept the trade. I was even told that, for all they knew, the car could actually have 150,000 miles. Since then, I have spoken with Hyundai technicians at other dealerships, as well as members of Fitzgerald's own service department. All advised that vehicle mileage can generally be retrieved electronically using Hyundai's diagnostic equipment, depending on the vehicle, and Fitzgerald's service department even invited me to bring the car in for that purpose. What disappointed me wasn't simply that a problem arose. It was that after aggressively pursuing my business and preparing a complete purchase proposal, the dealership showed little interest in exploring a reasonable solution before canceling the transaction. I later purchased the same 2026 Elantra SE from Hyundai of New Port Richey for $19,499.80 out the door--nearly $500 less than Fitzgerald's proposal--and the odometer issue was not treated as an obstacle. I also wrote to Fitzgerald's General Manager describing my experience and asking whether the dealership wished to revisit the transaction. I received no response. Based on this experience, I can no longer recommend Fitzgerald Hyundai.
