I've been a longtime customer at this location. Generally, the staff is friendly, and the coffee is fine. They have limited options, compared to other coffee, establishments, but what they do have is pretty good. Unfortunately, they don't have any sugar-free options. My biggest complaint is with their baked goods. To be honest one of the main reasons I go is for the blueberry scone. It has been amazing, and the best I've had of any location or business anywhere. Sadly, recently, they've changed their recipe or vendor, and the new scones are absolutely terrible. No taste, no flavor, and dry as a bone. I've decided to move on to other coffee establishments. read more

Whenever I am in San Antonio I am always amazed at the coffee spots I have never been to or seen. While visiting recently I ran across PJ's Coffee as I was staying in a nearby hotel for a work conference. Super easy parking options as there were a few dedicated spots for anyone coming in for coffee. I was there super early in the morning so parking was no thing for me. Upon walking in you are definitely taken back to NOLA and if you have never visited New Orleans yet have no fear - just come here and come in to try something new. The decor was all NOLA-based and walking in to the coffee shop really gives you a warm welcoming with all the coffee smells and the pastries they offer (like beignets!). The baristas were super sweet and gave me ample time and suggestions as I tried to tap into what I was feeling like having. I ended up with an iced mocha since it was warm out and within minutes my order was ready. I sat in the nook area near the windows that was beautifully decorated for the holiday season. I saw someone else sitting and reading a book while enjoying his coffee as I waited for mine. Local coffee and coffee spots like this are hard to find in this area, in my opinion, so having PJ's Coffee easily accessible (off the frontage road) is super ideal! read more

My first time here! I was craving beignets and decided to give this place a try. The customer service and coffee were good, but the beignets weren't quite what I was expecting. My husband went to pick up some beignets to go and when he got home...we're we ever so disappointed!! These beignets had been fried in very old grease you could tell. I called the store and spoke with Layla who told me "I'm in charge." when I asked for a manager. So I told her the problem with our order - the color & taste of the beignets - and how it was the oil that old, I suspected. I asked how often the oil was switched out and she replies with "Twice a week." I said "Well there you go. This oil needs to be replaced." She then tells me to bring my beignets back at this time and she will remake them or refund my order. I'm writing to share a very disappointing experience. I placed my order and waited while multiple customers who ordered after me received their food and drinks first. This included a customer behind me and another who dropped her drink, reordered, and still received her replacement before I did. What made the situation worse was that the manager walked past me several times, clearly observed the situation, and said nothing--no acknowledgment, no explanation, no attempt to correct the order or check in. I didn't want to cause a scene, but being repeatedly overlooked without even basic courtesy felt extremely disrespectful. Regardless of the reason, the lack of awareness and accountability from both staff and management was unacceptable. Everyone deserves to be treated fairly and acknowledged, especially when there is a visible service issue. read more

Early this (Sunday) morning I wanted something different. I saw PJ's and decided to stop. I'm glad I went in. A beautiful place, the warmth radiates. Comfortable looking seating, inviting wood and chalk. Two people behind the counter, two "Hello's". I was in only 14mins after opening but they seemed in full mid-day swing. They were so kind and helpful. The leader explained the mission, purpose and driving factors in a way that was palatable, not rehearsed. Then she guided me thru the menu food and drink selections. I order a Banana Foster's latte, Pecans and Praline latte, spinach and cheese pastry, 3 beignets and a king cake piece. All the food and drinks were delicious. Prepared nicely and appealing. I was in such a rush every thing was eaten before pics. This is my new coffee shop. I am definitely going to bring my wife. I can't wait to try the other drinks on the menu. read more

The caramel frappe I got was pretty good! Not the best I've ever had, but still delicious! My hubs got a frozen mocha and I actually liked that better. Prices were good - typical coffee shop prices. The service was typical counter service. The employee was nice and patient while I decided. It probably helped that we were one of the only people in there. No line! It was a comfortable place to work for a couple hours. They had good WiFi and even had a printer if you needed it! I thought that was pretty cool. They have dog treats, so make sure you ask for one. The coffee was absolutely amazing. The owner was there. Being from Louisiana, I was craving a king cake. I remembered the owners of this coffee shop are from New Orleans. I've actually tried this place before. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. I ordered the king cake shaken espresso and my boyfriend got the chai tea latte. Both were delicious drinks. Of course, we had to get a couple slices of king cake. They were so soft and sweet and tasty. We'll have to come back and get more before the season is over. read more

First experience and it was wonderful! The staff was super friendly and welcoming - her first question was whether or not we had been here before. When we told her no, she asked if we had time for a sample / were interested in a sample. She gave us a small cup of their Granita (frozen cold brew) which was pretty, but HIGHLY caffeinated. If you aren't looking for a pick-me-up, be wary of that option. It's not very sweet, but she explained that they can add flavors and sweet syrup to make it a little sweeter. We ended up getting a chocolate chip cookie - it looks burnt, but it was actually really soft! We also got a velvet cream with caramel since it's 3pm and we don't need caffeine this late. We were thoroughly impressed with the drink and cookie. We'll definitely be back if we're in this area again and needing a coffee fix. read more

Saw this new place in town and have been waiting patiently until it opened. Today, it finally did and it was well worth the wait. Seems PJs is original to New Orleans and, as such, also sells beignets. These can be ordered individually, a batch of three, six or more. Although, not as good as New Orleans ones, they were pretty tasty. The coffee was quite good and they did have some interesting looking favors, which we pledged to try next time we visit. The place is new, airy and welcoming. The staff friendly and setting perfect for a new coffee spot. Truly a pleasant place to hang and enjoy a cuppa. read more

I went to a PJ's on the near north side recently and found it to be good. I prefer cappuccinos so that's what I always start with when comparing shops. They do a decent espresso cappuccino that is typical of espresso chain stores, with lots of foam (it's a lot like that famous brand from Seattle that has stores EVERYWHERE :D ). I wouldn't call it a genuine Italian-style cap., but it was still tasty and sufficiently satisfying. I'm pretty fussy having lived in Europe, and was spoiled by a trip to Tuscany some years ago where the espressos and cappuccinos are the ultimate. I seek out shops that rise to that level of excellence. However, I would patronize a PJ's again if I am in an area devoid the type of shops that I prefer. read more

N'awlin's Coffee! L'Etoile, y'all! This place has opened up in the corner of I-10 & Wurzbach, across from the HEB. It's a great location with ample parking, a quiet interior right next to a liquor store. How New Orleans of them! The place is a New Orleans themed coffee place, serving up their own blends of roasted coffee, including one pecan flavored one that's simply divine. The coffee shop has ample seating, with lot of plugs and free wifi. It's a quiet place to study, but has tables big enough for a small crowd. They serve up a variety of french pastries and Louisiana style sandwiches, and offer a few soda options. My only complaint is that they don't offer cream and milk to add on your own, the barista has to provide that. In the self-service station, they only provide the ultra-pasteurized creamer, that's ironically served in a "fresh milk" milk truck model. It'd be nice if they'd offer some milk options. Plus, I didn't see any chicory on the menu. I don't know how you offer New Orleans coffee without some chicory. read more

While staying at the Westin next door my hubs and I were craving an iced latte to beat the heat while visiting San Antonio! Saw this place on yelp only had two stars but great ratings so we decided to walk over. We each had medium iced oat milk lattes and they were delish, the oat milk was creamy and full of flavor, the espresso rich. This was our first time visiting a PJs but we'll definitely seek these out in the future! We're from socal and this reminds me of our favorite chain- Peet's. Baristas we're kind and helpful, and they only opened four days ago so bravo! P.S. we're going to try their signature beignets tomorrow morning since they sound amazing! :) read more

first and foremost, i am a former barista of a 25 year career. i've worked for all of the big names on the west coast and seven years at the top two starbucks in its district. i know coffee shops of all types. for starters, it was my first time and in the parking lot was a car show that the coffee shop was hosting. not my cup of tea especially since i went there before going to work myself. i wanted a relaxing sunday morning atmosphere. cool. i ordered my coffee, got a pound ground up for work and an order of beignets. i would take it to go. after missing the three food orders that went before mine, no one but a lady i assumed to be the manager, showed any sign of speed of urgency. they were already not the place i wanted to sit and relax at. but now i had to sit in their loud ass lobby that had no price tags for any of the merchandise. whoever ground the coffee i purchased was not trained to NEVER cut the bag. this chick cut the bag and then left it impossible to close correctly. then i still had to wait as the customer that went two customers before me in line just got their food. no body engaged me. one barista had her mid rift showing. no one that worked there looked barista professional, or even had something on to say they worked there. the coffee was decent and if it weren't for literally everything else, it would have been ok. but, no one seemed trained, no one was friendly, especially not the obnoxious car show people who alienated everyone who wasn't there to show off their car. unacceptable experience. i have already detoured other people from this coffee shop. the car show on a sunday was not ok. read more

I came to this coffee shop because I saw four stars and seemed like a good place to get some work done. The ambiance and the workers are nice however the products that I was served was not the greatest. I ordered a Turkey sausage sandwich and a cappuccino. The sandwich did look like it was previously frozen and when I took my first bite The sandwich was still frozen in the middle. Luckily I told the girls and they gave me a refund, thankfully. The coffee was no better, it taste quite burnt and left a unpleasant taste in my mouth. When i asked about the coffee being burnt she looked like she was quite unsure and she said the machine made it. This has not been the greatest for experience me here. Looks like majority of people here just order fraps that hides the coffee taste, this place is not for me. read more
