I can't believe I forgot to check in here! I frequent this establishment at least twice a week for my morning Joe. The coffee is absolutely DELICIOUS! Although Starbucks is right beneath my office along with Panera bread, I find myself walking a few blocks to enjoy this special blend of New Orleans style coffee. It's not just about the coffee, the manager who runs the establishment is oh so sweet just like the coffee. LOL. The bathrooms are always neat, and there's always seating so I can sit down and enjoy my coffee as well as check my email. I highly recommend this place to try. They also serve signature sandwiches and pastries. If you are in the area and you are looking for a place that sells authentic King's cake, look no more! There's is absolutely delicious! read more

My husband and I came to DC on a mini honeymoon and found this place near our BNB on our first day there. We went there every single morning after that. It was so enjoyable having the staff ask us how our previous day of adventures went and be excited for us. The staff there is so sweet. I visited PJ's for the first time today and found the shop to be clean, cozy and quiet - perfect for working/enjoying a book while having coffee. It was a Sunday afternoon, so I doubt it would be that quiet on a weekday. I didn't have any food, but the coffee was tasty (though it had less frills than Starbucks). Walked over here one Saturday. Grabbed a latte and a pastry (delicious). Sat in the corner near the espresso machine. Nice location. Service was good and friendly. Music was good and not too overpowering, i was still able to enjoy my book. read more

Second time here and I'm writing a review for 1. the coffee (a no brainer) and 2. the service/owners. Stopped in for a quick coffee before heading on 695 and while waiting the owner popped over to say "hi" and chatted. Lovely conversation and ever more happy to be supporting someone local that actually cares about the quality of the coffee beans over their shelf life. Thank you for the great coffee (not too sweet or bitter and soooo well balanced between sugar - I got the Cafe Au Lait - and super perfect mellow coffee milk ratio) thank you for making my ride warmer, sweeter and caffeinated. Pros: New coffee shop, Lip Balm in the shape of a coffee cup, lovely cup design Cons: Limited sitting options Hidden brand-new Coffee Shop Jew in Silver Spring. You might have seen it on your way passing through Georgia Ave. , bright colors of yellow and purple catch the eye, but maybe not enough for you to consider it being a very nice coffee shop. New Orleans Coffee chain brought to Silver Spring, MD. When Starbucks seems like the only coffee shop you go to (and frankly you are tired of it) this place offers you a whole new experience. It really feels very different, not nearly as busy as Starbucks and very nice customer service. Also, unlike Starbucks, if you decide to have coffee right there you can take a sit and wait for it to be delivered right to your table, which I find to be greatly convenient and pleasing. I really enjoyed the environment and the vibe of the place that encourages you to stay there for hours sipping coffee and having conversations. So going to what I got and what's up with their coffee. I ended up ordering 2 coffees Praline Latte and Macchiato are some of my regular Starbucks orders. I paid 4.65 for medium Latte and 2.50 for Macchiato. Here I need to specify something, Macchiato is not your regular Starbucks Macchiato it is size small (even if you want Medium or Large) but taste wise is perfectly fine, maybe not as sweet, which is fine by me. Latte, however, was really great, I didn't feel too much milk and just enjoyed it. An addition to my visit was a purchase of cute "coffee cup" shaped lip balm (amazing smell and sweet to taste), which cost me 3$ (more than my actual Macchiato cup haha). Another thing to point out is their cups. Cups are just simply beautiful. Bright to pastel colors with PJ's logo are very lovely. Overall the place is amazing, I spotted about 3-4 sitting places. Might not be enough if you come during rush hour but I have experienced almost 0 problems during my one time visit. The place also offers food options such as pastry and sandwiches, the usual stuff. I did not get a chance to try it, but I promise to do so next time. Overall a great alternative for Starbucks regulars who want new flavors and a new hangout spot. 9/10 read more

Really enjoyed the velvet ice and though by nature it has a lot of ice felt like half my cup had remaining frozen drink. Overall the drink was pretty sweet probably on par with frappuccinos from that other coffee shop I won't name. Having lived in northern Louisiana and experienced CC Coffee in Louisiana I will say they offer a fairly similar experience. The best thing about this place is that they do sell King Cakes which are far more authentic than some poor excuses at farmers markets that don't even have the signature white, green and purple frosting. They do offer a register rewards program but it isn't clear what you earn and when. Overall the cashier was fairly nice but I almost expected a more Louisiana experience with bright Mardi Gras ads and maybe even selling beignets. To me this will be important long term with numerous coffee shops in the area including the very popular Kaldi. read more

Not all coffee needs to be McCoffee! The warmest reception ever from the owner, Tyra, followed by a chicory-smokey brew that's a delicious departure from my ordinary. I'm from Seattle so my standard for coffee is high. PJs beat it, handily! But the beignets! Whatever it is you THINK you want, PJs has BEIGNETS and THEY do not. I got 3 and they were delicious! This place is lovely. I stopped in here while I had about half an hour to spare before an appointment. I got the Vienna Créme which was the perfect amount of sweetness and caffeine. It woke me up just the right amount. For food, I got the vegetarian egg & cheese sandwich. I'm not even a vegetarian, so I'm not ever impressed by vegetarian options, but their sandwich was so good! I went once for a pumpkin coffee that was delicious and then my daughter asked for beignets (she watches The Princess and the Frog a lot) and I remembered PJ's has them. I'm so glad she mentioned beignets because they were amazing!! We've been to NOLA and had beignets at multiple places so while we're no experts, I can say they seem authentic and are served fresh and warm. They just melt in your mouth! I also tried another seasonal coffee- a Butter Rum Latte that was excellent. Will definitely be back! read more

Great new spot in Silver Spring! Definitely gives a New Orleans vibe in their menu. They have many iced options, classic options, and a list of coffee creations unique to their shop. The workers are always nice and happy to explain drinks as well. No bitter taste in the coffee at all! read more

Pros: The coffee here is delicious - it is not too strong but not too light either. The flavors are so different so yummy! I actually came twice in one day because the coffee was that good. I usually get their flavored iced coffee. There are different flavors every day and they let you try the different flavors they have. The staff is so nice and friendly! Cons: I wish their rewards system was better and I wish they would sell their flavored coffee as ground/K-cups. They have some flavors that they sell to take home but they are basic flavors like medium roast, etc. It would be nice if they could start selling the same flavored coffee that they brew for purchase, in take-home packages so we can brew it at home too! The only other con is parking but that's pretty much normal silver spring Totally coming back here again - highly recommend it! read more

Overpriced. You cant cost more than Starbucks when the biggest complaint about Starbucks is that its expensive. Dial back the cost and I'd be willing to forgo Starbucks. If not, one and done for me. read more

There are four signs visible from outside PJ's coffee advertising 'Pumpkin Swirl Bread', including a large placard sign on the walkway. There are many more big signs inside the store advertising 'Pumpkin Swirl Bread'. I have been lured into PJ's coffee at least four times over the last few weeks by these signs, and there is NEVER any Pumpkin Swirl Bread. Not early in the morning, not midday, not later. It's one thing to be out of a product for a single day. It's not cool to lure people in over many weeks and not EVER have a heavily advertised product available. That's bait and switch. Otherwise I would have provided a 4 or possibly 5-star review for the friendly service and the tasty Granita and New Orleans feel of the place. Fix this and I would change the review. read more

Disappointed. The coffee is just okay (I got a cafe au lait and it was nothing like you get in New Orleans). They don't have mugs if you want to stay there. The service was not great either. My friend ordered a raisin bagel and they made her a plain one. When she told them the error, the server all but rolled her eyes. Then she gave her the correct bagel, and it was still frozen in the middle. With other, better coffee places nearby, I won't be coming back. read more

I love this place! I've tried several of their coffees but my favorite is the Viennese Iced Coffee. Not a lot but a good selection of pastries and a few tasty breakfast sandwiches. Vegetarian egg & cheese sandwich is my favorite. The staff in Silver Spring are always so nice and helpful. Now that most of us are working from home, as least twice a week, I walk the 1 mile to this location for great coffee and breakfast sandwich. I order 2 coffees so I have one for later when I get home. :) read more
