Tas's Thai Pepper on 127th and Q is the best Thai in Omaha and Tas is one of the friendliest restaurant owners you'll ever meet. The food is great, cooked fresh to order by Tas himself. Try the chicken lettuce wraps, Tas's twist on a classic with amazing dipping sauce. The noodle dishes are huge with portions for two people. Pad Thai is good, Thai Sukiyaki is even better. Like curries? The red is good but if you want a Tas specialty, try the spicy mixed vegetables. Another of Tas's specialities is seafood, ask Tas what is fresh. Tas is an amazing person. He is always there to welcome us to his fine restaurant and cheer us up. He is always in a great mood and has a wonderful outlook on life. If you're feeling blue stop by Tas's and he'll put a smile on your face. Some of the bad reviews I've read are just not fair. Tas is not "making out like a bandit," and in fact, he's doing well just to stay in business. If you notice, Q street is turning into one huge used car dealership with neighborhood shops and restaurants like Tas's going under. If you don't like the price then don't buy it, but don't complain just because you are used to the price of McDonalds. The $10.00 pad thai can feed two easily unless you're massive, in which case a $10.00 lunch is probably a good deal for you. But you pay for what you get. Tas is not a chain, uses all fresh ingredients, and cooks every meal to order. For me the price is very reasonable for the quality and service. One problem is that Nebraskans don't know good Thai food when they see it. I've eaten at Thai restaurants all over the country, including some award winning restaurants in Chicago, San Francisco and LA. Tas is as good as any of them, and his friendly service is second to none. My best advice, ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU ORDER and if you're not sure, ASK TO TALK WITH TAS HIMSELF! Tas doesn't want any customer to leave unhappy, so if you have a problem please just tell him and he'll love your feedback and will let you try something else or refund your money. I live in Fremont so I don't get to Tas's often but my niece is hooked on it so we go periodically. The lettuce wraps ARE great. I like the spicy dishes, especially the curry dishes. It's not fancy, but the food is very good. It is a bit on the pricey side, but not that bad. Worth going to. read more

Phenomenal...absolutely incredible food. You know that dish that can change your life? I ate that tonight! We had the Golden Flowers appetizer which was beautifully presented. It tasted like a deconstructed guacamole... perfect chunks of avocado and tomato and seasoned with the a nice blend of onion and cilantro all tucked into a perfectly fried, crispy little shell. Our second appetizer was a bowl of Chicken Coconut Soup. I generally eat vegan so opted out of the bites of chicken, but the vegetables were stewed to perfection and the broth was light and seasoned with a blend of spices that literally mambo on the tongue! For our entrees, I tried the Spicy Vegetable Curry. The veggies were ridiculous! They were marinated in a beautiful blend of curry spices, seasoned to your preferred level of heat, 1-5. I opted for the level 3. We also had the Pad Thai, covered in tender chicken and crispy bean sprouts. Along with our entrees we had the Mango drink (simple, made with mango, a light syrup flavor and coconut milk), it was the essential compliment to my spicy curry! For dessert... the piece de resistance, Mango Cake with Ice Cream. The cake, like everything else, was beautifully presented. The cake was light and fluffy, with a crispy bottom layer and a crunchy brown sugar topping. A small scoop of old fashioned vanilla ice cream and a couple of mango slices completed the dish. I can not say enough good things about this restaurant! The service was fantastic, we showed up about 30 minutes before closing time and they made us feel like the first customers of the day. We have been in Omaha all weekend and this is easily our favorite restaurant. We will return tomorrow before heading home, I can't wait to try another dish... and the server recommended the Fried Bananas. :) read more

Very small serving sizes for the prices, but pretty good service. The hot & sour soup was very over salted and the cup was only filled half way. My biggest peeve was my main dish; though it was listed on the menu as including mushroom, onion, and other veggies, my ginger beef consisted of a pile of meat ringed with ten small pieces of broccoli. I love this place and have eaten many times since new owner changed name to Pla Too. This is 100% authentic food and the owner may even cook something special not on menu at your request. The flavors are wonderful, veggies and meat fresh and cooked just right, the amount of spice is perfect for me at 4 stars. I'm not a noodle guy but have tried all their awesome curries and the spicy salmon fried rice is also excellent. If you don't care about decor and just want great thai food at a good price, definitely give it a try. read more

This rating is purely based on the fact that the Pad See Ew was made with dry rice noodle instead of fresh rice noodle. That makes all the difference in this dish to me and unfortunately, the dried rice noodle just does not cut it. That being said, for those who do not mind a dried rice noodle, give this place a shot. My husband and I met a friend at this restaurant. This was the first time eating at this restaurant for all of us. The outside doesn't look like much but the inside is actually pretty nice. I was very pleased that they offered items that were Gluten Free and they don't use any MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) in their food. We ordered the Lettuce Wraps for an appetizer and they were delicious! I can't remember what my husband and our friend ordered but both of them thought the food was excellent. I had the Pad Thai with Tofu and it was yummy! All of us were very pleased with the prices and the food portions. The staff were very friendly too. We will definitely return again to this restaurant in the future and we will recommend it to others. read more

The building is a little awkward along with the set up of the interior. When my fiancé and I went, we were the only customers and the waiter tried to turn on some music by playing Thai tunes off youtube on a laptop. The computer kept freezing and the music would skip, but the waiter and everyone were often in the back of the restaurant and did not notice this. Eventually the music just shut off and it became very quiet, which was a little awkward for sitting and conversing. The waiter was very friendly and polite, however and the food came out and was prepared in a very timely manner, fresh and hot. We ordered the calamari, which was crisp, well breaded and good however kind of a small portion. My fiancé and I each ordered chicken and beef pad thai. The dish came out on some very cute fish plates with peanuts on the side, however I wish they had fresh bean sprouts and lime wedges to accompany it. The food was still great though, very fresh and delicious - not overly sauced or spiced, dry or oily, etc. Very good quality and we were very full afterward, having had a difficult time finishing the plate :) Despite a slightly awkward atmosphere, the food definitely made up for it and I am eager to try their massamun and green curries in the future, as well as their papaya salad as it is one of my favorite thai dishes. I would definitely recommend this place, but make sure you bring good company so you don't find yourself in awkward silence :) read more

Best Pad Thai in town, service is extremely friendly and caring and some have been there for years and remember you every time you stop in. my new city Omaha quest for Thai garlic pepper pork/beef led me to this adorable place in Millard tonight. to me the building looked like a Pizza Hut given a new life remembered well from my 70's/80's childhood so I was very happy to be eating in one again. very nice owners/servers very clean welcoming place, they made their rounds checking on their tables and making sure we were happy with their food. I will state that the garlic beef was not quite exactly what I was looking for- but it was tasty well made and enough spice that I was pleased that it was close to my house to have again. I ordered crispy egg rolls ( delicious) thai iced tea (spot on) and the beef with garlic sauce mild/ one star. ( little spice according to their chart ) it was really very good. spice indeed was one star and gave me the heat I wanted without the burning mouth I don't in an entree. this garlic beef had the fried garlic and green onions, and the rice shaped into a lovely star on the plate but just had tomatoes and cucumbers instead of the cabbage I am used too. it also didn't have the cilantro which I think had it had it it would have been VERY close, in all. it was a delicious dish well made. I LOVED the custard and sweet sticky rice. VERY good. the crispy egg rolls with that lovely dipping sauce and thai iced tea were also quite delicious. the crispy egg rolls here beat Thai places in KC hands down. I am a little confused about NOT finding my garlic pepper pork/beef exactly like I've had it since 1993.. but i'll keep trying. I heard the other tables commenting and apparently the basil chicken was quite tasty since it is also a favorite and pad thai.. I will be back to try them now that I know where Q street is relation to my new place Delish! well done! read more
