Looking at all the reviews I see that I'm the outlier. This will be a longer review but I feel deatils are important. That being said, my only recommendation is if you receive what appears to be a high estimate, I'd say shop around. I brought my car in a year ago(01/27/25). I was in the process of getting a work vehicle, and knew I would have to sell it. Placentia Super Service not only was highly recommended, but also an authorized AAA mechanic. My car wouldn't start one morning. I knew I wanted to get a full inspection before selling it anyways. I drove it over. The person helping me out(Paul) explained they would look at the car and send over an estimate and pictures they found. They asked if I was going to wait but I informed them my ride was taken care of. This was roughly 8-9 AM. I went to work and hadn't heard anything. I called for an update and was told "when we know something you will". I borrowed a car for work the following day. Once again I still hadn't heard anything. I headed over to PSS. I approached Paul. He pulls his computer to screen(to show me) and says "as soon as we know you will know". I then asked if they had a loaner and he said he had no idea when it was being returned. I then was informed I could go to Hertz and they could get me a great rate as long as I gave them my repair order. I had already secured a car when Paul said he should be getting the loaner back. I only add this because I don't want to just stress the complaints. Fast forward to the following day. I received a texted quote for a little more than $3,200. I then received a call asking if I saw it and reviewed it. We talked over the estimate. I informed Paul I needed to think about my options. I was then informed that my vehicle would start to accrue storage fees. You could see where I'd be a little annoyed as I feel like I've been extremely patient throughout the process. Also, looking at what PSS prides them on I feel they've missed the mark quite a few times up to this point. Paul then said if I wanted to wait until the following day I would not be charged for storage. On my way home, I called another mechanic. He was hesitant giving any suggestions on what's wrong with the car without seeing it. Across the board he was significantly cheaper. One of the items I was told needed replacement, he insisted this was not the issue. He said, with my make and model, he's never needed to replace a timing chain. The next day I called PSS. I was told I could tow it out and would only be charged the inspection fee. Here is where I felt I couldn't not write a review. Paul inquired why I was declining the repairs and why I was getting it towed. He asked if I was looking to sell the vehicle. One of his solutions was purchasing my vehicle. He said right now it's not worth anything. He could purchase the vehicle, waive my inspection, for $500, and then he'd sell it. I declined and towed it to a nearby mechanic. The other local mechanic took my civic in. By this time I was in possession of my work vehicle so I was in no immediate rush to get it back. I was worried there was something very wrong with my car(after receiving the large estimate from PSS), and asked that he be very sure this car wouldn't have any huge issues after I sold it. After a few days I received my civic back and it was up and running. All he had to do was replace the battery. This all happened last January, 2025. I didn't want to write a review, and then immediately see all the items PSS listed as issues, turn out to need to be replaced. As I write this review, it's been close to 15 months, and I've heard/seen any issues. Once again, I seen a ton of happy customers post their 5 star reviews for Placentia Super Service. I just couldn't have my experience not be stated. I'm not the type of customer that's always looking for the cheapest rate. I understand that a place like PSS, that sends estimates along with pictures/videos, does cost money. But when they say it needs over $3200 in work, when all it needed was a new battery, that's just not right. read more

The Service Advisor, Paul Del Villar, eased my mind with the available discounts out there and the opportunity to do a 90 day financial plan should I need it. The office/waiting area is always clean and inviting with coffee, tea, other beverages, granola bars, tv, magazines, a work station, phone charges and more. The large window allows you to watch your vehicle as work is being done. I liked how the technician would send me pictures on each part that had a problem and would tell me what's wrong with it. It made the service feel trustworthy and it helped me understand each problem with more detail. Joe was very helpful throughout our service and would always answer any questions we had. I brought my car in on Wednesday morning for an oil leak and within a couple hours they had sent a link to the site they use with pictures and descriptions of what needed to be done on my car (I've never been to an auto shop that does this). Ricky let me know that my car wouldn't be done by later that day (which was fine by me) and said that he would call when my car was ready for pickup. They had my car ready for me by the next morning. Not sure what the point of an appointment is if the service (oil change) provided will be a 2.5 hour wait. I went out of my way to make this appointment. For comparison: The place I normally go to has a similar online scheduling system and they guarantee an oil change in under 45 minutes at your scheduled time. I recently took my 2016 dodge charger R/T in for an oil pressure switch replacement after getting a check engine light, and I was confident that was the issue. During their inspection, they recommended additional repairs, which I agreed to. These included control arm replacement, a brake fluid exchange, and other related work. In total, I spent around $2,600 on the initial service. Before bringing my car in, I had no unusual noises or issues beyond what I originally asked to be fixed. After picking up the vehicle, I immediately noticed a new squeaky, belt-like noise as soon as I started the car -- while still in the lot. I went back inside right away and was told it was "probably nothing" and to bring it back if it continued. A few days later, the noise became significantly louder and developed into a harsh, repetitive knocking sound. When I checked under the hood, I saw fluid spraying, and the engine sounded like something was failing. I immediately turned the car off to avoid further damage and had it towed back to the shop the next day, since I had just gotten off work. At that point, I was told it was a water pump issue, which they stated they were "not liable for." What really concerned me is that they later mentioned they had heard the noise earlier but never communicated that to me during the initial service -- even after performing what they described as a "full inspection" and telling me my car would be "almost 100%" after the repairs. I was initially quoted around $1,100 for the water pump repair, which was later reduced to about $725 after I pushed back. This was on top of the $2,600 I had already paid. Regardless, this was an issue that did not exist before my visit, and I felt put in a position where I had no choice but to pay to get my car back in working condition. Overall, the lack of transparency and communication was very disappointing. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion and ensuring any issues are clearly documented before leaving your vehicle with them. UPDATE: After posting this review, management reached out and acknowledged the communication issue. They issued a refund for the water pump and offered a complimentary oil service. I appreciate them taking steps to make things right. read more

Took my car in to get work done since I previously did a service with them with no hiccups. They his time my experience was different. The job was to replace my AC system (Compressor & condenser/radiator) I was able to supply the parts they do the service / labor. Everything was going good until I had to pay and the pricing that was agreed wasn't was on the bill. The previous employee (Paul) who got fired in the middle of this project agreed on the price. The project was to be given to Ruben who finished the job but the cost still wasn't what was agreed on. I told them to go listen to the phone recordings and hear what we talked about and then they had missing phone calls all of a sudden. We kept negotiating but I ended up still paying more than what was agreed on. Then once I paid I couldn't open my hood. So I brought it back and they said oh the plastic part of the hood release cable broke snapped. They never offered to take care of it and said this is how much it would cost to replace it when it wasn't even broken when I brought it in. As a business they should have took responsibility of their employee who got fired and stuck to the agreed cost. Also with the broken hood latch release they should have also took care of that instead of asking for $500 bucks when the part is only $100 read more

Joe and his team were incredibly honest and helpful - they discovered that the recommended repair wasn't even needed. They got my AC running again with a simple fix. They also fixed a few other issues Hardin Honda never noticed that solved some handling issues I have had for a while. You can easily book an appointment time online and they'll text you a link once their inspection is complete with pictures and recommendations of what your vehicle might need. And the inspection is free. They have a shuttle service and if you prefer to wait they offer a fully stocked customer waiting area. Coffee, granola bars, fresh popcorn and a TV await you there. I've interfaced with service advisors Ricky and Benjamin and they're both easy to work with and competently on top of what the service techs are working on. The repair guarantee this shop offers is even better than what is offered at new car dealers. This means they're using best replacement parts and techniques available. The owners are ASE certified mechanics too so they understand that diagnosing and then correctly repairing the issue is utmost. I brought the my 2015 Toyota Camry in because I've used Placentia Super Service in the past and they've always been thorough. My driver door lock and handle hadn't been functioning properly, I watched a few videos to see if this is something I can do and decided I didn't want to open that can of worms. Ricky greeted me, went over my concerns, and told me he would update me by lunch time the next day. He also shared that this might be covered by my warranty. I had already gone to Miller Toyota and they wanted $100/hour for diagnostic which they said would not be covered by the warranty and would be expected @~3 hours ($300 in diagnostic). The diagnostic at PSS is $200. Worth is, you get a break down of all they find in their inspection, summary of other issues that weren't on my radar, supported by pictures, and video explanations of what the part is and does.
