BEST BRUNCH I'VE HAD! This is sort of a hole in the wall brunch spot compared to others in the city. The brunch was so tasty. I ordered the chorizo scramble. The amount of flavoring in this dish is amazing. The potatoes were nice and crispy. The avocado with the chipotle sauce over the eggs was mouthwatering. For a Tuesday morning it was slow which was wonderful for us because we knew we would get food fas as we were staving. Unfortunately, as soon as we got there one of the waiters immediately had a horrible attitude. She didn't even greet us when we entered the restaurant. Got the lobster scramble (3/5) not bad however too much cheese, red velvet pancake (4/5) didn't really taste the red velvet however happy that it wasn't dry. There's one vegetarian savory entree on the menu, the oyster mushroom scramble. It comes with a decent helping of veggies, and obviously oyster mushrooms. While it was good, I have a high standard for brunch food and I expected higher quality for the price. That being said, the country potatoes that came on the side were amazing! I have a similar consensus on the custard French toast- good but not great. The custard flavor didn't come through very strongly. I enjoyed my meal at Plain Jane, but I wasn't blown away. The group agreed that the food was good and we would definitely all be coming back, probably to try their delectable-looking sweet breakfast flight that none of us had the guts to get first time around! Plain Jane hits all the brunch requirements - minimal wait time (even on a sunny Sunday afternoon!) due to both outdoor and indoor seating, delicious but not greasy/overpriced brunch food, and plentiful coffee + mimosas. Food - 5 stars. Highly recommend the smoked duck breast for a savory but not too fatty brunch entree. Their dirty chai latte was sooo good but might be too sweet if you prefer just coffee. But it just seems way too overpriced for the value of the food. The crab was very bland and I was so disappointed because I read other reviews saying how great it was but I seriously didn't taste anything. The potatoes were fresh and very tasty though, so I guess that balanced it out. Our waitress came by like twice and she just seemed annoyed. I always have to have a mix of savory and sweet, so I ordered the Oyster Mushroom Scramble and PJ's Sweet Flight. Not only is their food delicious, but the portions are huge! My girlfriend and I were stuffed but we still had leftovers to take home. I loved how perfectly crisp the potatoes in the Oyster Mushroom scramble were and the Sweet Flight took good care of my sweet tooth. The scramble in the Oyster Mushroom Scramble wasn't mindblowing but I still enjoyed my meal. The red velvet pancakes with cream, bananas, and chocolate chips were so fluffy and dreamy. There's also outside seating and I think they add more tables for the weekend. The employees are always super nice and accommodating. First off, the espresso drinks are SO GOOD. They are so crispy and flavorful, my husband usually doesn't like ordered house potatoes at breakfast places but this was the only exception! Bacon super crisp and thick! I got my favorite Cottage Cheese pancakes, I know it sounds weird but there no cottage cheese on top or anything. I guess it's in the batter which makes it SUPER MOIST and not bready like their other pancakes! (I'm a waffle person for this reason but their cottage cheese pancakes are the exception for me!) Looking for a Brunch place if SF and found this place on Yelp. It had great reviews and the wait for a table on Sunday around 10ish was only a 10 min wait. The staff was super nice and helpful with recommendations. The menu had so many yummy sounding dishes that it was hard to choose. Food : We ordered the Norwegian Benedict which was amazing along with the Red Velvet pancakes for which I had requested for no chocolate but it still came dripping in white chocolate. Maybe I am not aware of this rule being lifted but this is how the place is functioning. So, in case you are looking for a place that follows social distancing rules - this is not it. Otherwise, its a clean, well-lit room indoors and good number of tables laid out on the outside as well. Staff: The servers were very friendly and patient. I don't usually enjoy the general chit chat with strangers and so to me, this was perfect!
