There is never anyone in here which is great for me because I like working out by myself without having the Chads all in my business.

This one is not well managed. My daughter was given bad instructions for closing her account, and thought she closed it late last year. At the same time, she moved her bank account. What she didn't realize is that their policy is to charge a $20 fee for every month they have to charge you backup credit card. That's a $20 penalty on a membership that costs $25 a month (almost 100% penalty). And they don't notify you they are doing it. Not one email. We just discovered it after getting hit with bogus gym fees and the ridiculous penalty for six months. We talked to a manager. Not only would they not credit back any of the penalty fees, they wouldn't even credit back the month fee and penalty they charged YESTERDAY for the coming month. Despite the fact she'd not even set foot in the gym for more than six months. We even contacted corporate, which said it's an independently owned and managed gym and they couldn't do anything about it. Despite their brand being tarnished. They'll be losing two more memberships when my wife and I cancel our memberships and move to a gym with less onerous policies and better management who care about loyalty and fairness. (And hey Planet Fitness Corporate, we won't be moving to a different franchisee of Planet Fitness....we are done with ALL Planet Fitnesses because of this one franchise's poor business ethics and policies.) read more

The 4 times I've been to try and get set up with a membership through One Pass Select I was met with blank stares. No other gym has given me issues with One Pass, this gym is extremely convenient in terms of location however I can't get anyone to help me. read more

for a business who promotes a judgment free zone? Their walls have the most judgmental descriptions of what a 'lunk' is. I come from a small local gym which the people in it (mainly body building and physique competitors that do shows) they are some of the nicest people and most willing to give advice. That wall of judgement makes me feel like I don't belong. About the gym -The staff is friendly especially the front desk Sara. The equipment is clean and even in peak hours we can get a workout in. Free weight area can be a busy irritation when people don't get in and get out but that's most gyms with the exception of my local gym I moved away from. People there get in and get out. The locker room is clean. The bathrooms are good when we walk in. For a cheap price gym. It gets 4 stars for now. read more

Traveled to Phoenix and was disappointed to find they have limited hours (when locations are advertised as 24/7) and poor facilities. I've never encountered this in any other PF across various states so 0 stars if I could. Corporate will comment, but club managers won't ever make useful changes as a small level. read more

Been told that corporate has made a decision to remove all red light green light circuit training from their gyms at planet fitness. Obviously they did not to talk to managers of facilities who in most cases can express the information that people actually use these machines. This is a stupid decision as this was one of the reasons many of us signed up. read more

I was going to do a more positive review, because for the most part, TV audio at PF had been working, up until last week. For five or six days in a row now, it hasn't been. I have been a loyal member since 2016 and have enjoyed the club very much until this week. We made adjustments to our account last year removing people and adding others causing us to sign a year commitment which was fine. That is until Monday when I simply asked in the middle of my contract to bring me to a basic plan with COVID I am the only one utilizing the gym as many peoples life styles had changed. We had no need to pay extra money for a service we could not use and I thought my request would be pretty cut and dry?? I haven't had a problem with this gym in the 2 years I've been going there but I remember some things that I totally brushed off and ignored that I now know was not right. When I was canceling my membership the first time and trying a new gym, one of the workers brought up the fact that I hadn't came in for a while, but the way they said it was very judgy. I joined back up after not liking EOS and I had softball on the side for high school, I was too busy and tired doing softball on the side that I stopped showing up but still paid for it monthly. When a couple months passed and softball was over, the guy who scanned me in rudely told me and brought up that I haven't scanned in in a LONG time. Ok rude?? I'm sorry I don't work here and have to be at a gym 24/7. You're almost 30 and judging me while working at a planet fitness... seems low of you. Anyway, I brushed that off and thought of it as a joke come to realize they just purely make fun of you to your face on purpose. Fast forward to the next year, I stopped going again because I was busy traveling and getting ready for my first year of college. I was still paying for the monthly and I even went in to change the card I would get charged on. They did it fast and told me they got rid of the original card. The monthly got billed and it went on the wrong card, so I go back and I talk to the ladies and the Assistant Manager or whatever had no idea what to do, she said "you need to have 2 forms of payment on here that's why" first off, I've never had 2 forms of payment on here before in my life, why all of a sudden I do? And I asked her if I could change the other card to my primary if that were the case, she said she would leave my information for her manager to call me the next day. A few days pass and there's no call from no manager, AND I ended up getting charged on the NEW card as well. Isn't it kind of illegal to tell me I need 2 forms of payment no matter what and then charging me on both without consent even though I brought up the problem? Anyway, I call the store and this "new" girl picks up and tells me she doesn't know how to do anything because she is new and that it looks like I have due fees that's why I'm being charged twice. Ok I saw that the app said I have some due fee's and I even addressed them before a while ago and someone told me nothing popped up on their end, now everyone's telling me something new. And funny thing is, when I got double charged the fee didn't go down in price on the app. So I go the next day in person and the Assistant Manager who is a guy, that also judged me for not coming in for a while from the past had to help me. He reeked of weed and did not understand a single thing I was saying to him. I had to come in 4 times to get this fixed and it's still not fixed. and it's so illegal that they're just taking my money and not giving a f. Anyway, I told him the problem straight up and then asked about the due fee's, wondering if that really was the issue even though I've paid off every fee known to man from this company. He told me that it could have been the annual fee and I told him that I already paid that and he told me that it probably didn't roll over even though I paid for it a couple months ago. I told him that and he said "I never said that you didn't pay for it", in such a rude tone, and I know for a fact he didn't even know what he was saying to me because his head was in the clouds.I showed him the proof that he asked for and then showed him the double charge because he forgot what I was in there for. And rudely told me that he would call the billing company for my "$10.15" back.. he made it seem like I was so worried about the $10 when I was actually worried about the $35 that was charged because of the late fee when it got charged to the wrong card which I changed because I no longer use, that's the point of this whole thing. Staff is very cool It appears to be clean But It the equipment is packed tight and there is no room. There are too many of he same machines. Not enough free weights. And the clientele mostly are not comfortable with people who are in shape - got a ton of stink eye and crap. Better than a hotel gym but I would not go again. I liked getting to work out here, and having someplace to go on my days off work is nice. My issue and the issue I have with almost all sales. Its that there is zero communication with the customer about billing. If all members received at least ONE email prompting them about their upcoming annual renewal fee. (39.59$) I believe both members and staff would be happier. Especially staff. But future charge communication to gym members means work, and lower sales numbers for the company. Great gym for the basics. Not for hardcore lifters as they don't have a ton of free weight equipment (benches, racks, etc.) plus they clearly state "no deadlifting." But as I'm pressed for time and have limited myself to aerobics (plenty of elliptical, bikes and treadmills) and circuit training (30 Minute Express Workout), this place is great, priced right (no contract) and close. read more

The gym itself has decent equipment but I am a black card member so I can take advantage of their tanning facilities which are HORRIBLE! I pay over 20 bucks a month for one booth (#3) that's been out of order for literally three months. Room #2 has literally 10 bulbs that are burnt out and room #3 has five bulbs that are burnt out and one of the 3 ceilings fans in the tanning booth itself does not work. I have written 2 emails to management with no response. It has been months and They refuse to do anything about it. All the bulbs are fried and need to be changed therefore you can barely get any color. Beyond ridiculous so me and my friends will be taking our business elsewhere! read more

I don't need much from my gym - weights and cardio - so the price is right. However, today was the second time I waited over 10 minutes for someone to come to the front desk to turn on the hydro massage bed for me. It's not uncommon for the front desk to be unmanned with a sign giving you a phone number to call. But...the phones are at the front so they ring with no answer! When the workers ARE here they're friendly. There is also a musty smell in the women's bathroom, and fairly often the stalls need to be restocked. One morning I alerted the front desk to a stall needing toilet paper, and the guy simply asked "do you need me to bring you a roll?" Clean up a little better, keep the front desk staffed, and your members will be happy campers! read more

Moved my membership here when I bought home in this area. Alvin and Derrick were very helpful when I moved over after there were an issue with my account. They worked hard and corrected the error. Cool!... so yesterday i found out I may need hip replacement, I just paid my yearly membership Oct 1st and today is the 10th. I explained my situation to Derrick he understood and let me know that he will put in the computer I have to take off for a little while because of the medical situation but when I come back I can start right back into the same program and they will use my $39 towards me starting my membership back up. GREAT Custmer service. Would give 5 star if they had a sauna...lol. That is why I've been a member at Planet Fitness for 5 years. I posted a previous review, but I wanted to clean it up and give a more accurate walk through of my experience here. I signed up online, the next day I went to the facility with a change of clothes ready to work out. I walked up to the counter, announced I was a new customer and was given a key tag and a t-shirt so I can advertise for them. I was not given any instructions, rules, a tour or anything else. I asked the person at the counter where the locker room was so I could change, he was nice enough to point. So I spent about an hour fumbling my way around figuring out where the machines were and worked out. After, I went to the locker room to shower and couldn't find a towel. I went to the front desk and found a staff member to ask (shorts, shaved head, facial hair) and he told me they didn't provide towels. I mentioned that I wasn't told this when joining earlier and that it would be good information. I asked if I could just borrow a towel since this was overlooked and was told I could buy one. Rather than continue down this entirely unhelpful path I just mentioned again that it would be helpful to tell people this when they join, but thank you anyway and I walk off... The employee yells at the back of my head when I'm about 5 steps off: "Hey man, I'm not the one who checked you in!" Wow, are you serious right now? Yelling at the back of my head to get the last word? I've seen unprofessional behavior in my day but this was a special level. I simply let it go, childish behavior makes me smile so I laughed a bit. On the way out, I got a demonstration of exactly how childish this behavior was: he was actually huddled with the other employees telling them his sad version of this tale and hey all turn and stare me down. So intimidating! Wait, isn't PF against this behavior or is that just for customers and doesn't apply to employees? Apparently. So I left, what a joke. The next day, I discover that I am apparently the only person in this individuals life worth focusing on. He actually LOUDLY says "THATS HIM!" To the people at the desk as I'm leaving my second day. Yep, that's me... the adult who is ignoring the petulant child attempting to intimidate him. Clean this crap up. This is why people choose PF over other places, so we don't have to deal with this garbage behavior. While you're training your employees to be decent people towards your customers, take the time to explain that when you choose a career serving others occasionally you have to deal with their frustrations particularly when your coworkers don't do their jobs. So, blame your manager for not training them. Blame yourself for leaning against the counter and doing nothing while your coworker doesn't show a new customer around. Don't blame your customers who get put out by you and your coworkers lack of effort. This was entirely preventable, and the threatening attempts to intimidate that followed are truly pathetic. read more

I'd considered, briefly, transferring my membership to EOS.... BUT!! I'm remaining loyal to Planet.... Alex & Jennifer @ the front desk are amazing. I've had my membership for about a month now and I am still very impressed with Planet Fitness. There was a $1 initiation fee with a 12 month contract at $19 a month for a black membership. It includes 24 hour access to the club (strength/cardio machines & free weights), tanning booths, aqua massage tables and chairs, total body enhancement, and free unlimited person training! The facility and locker room is always super clean and the staff is helpful. I really enjoy the 30 minute circuit work out zone for days I just don't have a lot of time, but everything is clearly labeled so you never feel uncomfortable. Definitely take advantage of the build your workout with the trainer so he can show you the machines, how to use them, and ensure you're not bored with your routine. read more

So I've been to this location and the one in Phoenix off ray and the 10. My friend has a membership here. So we've been gym buddies and trying to encourage each other to go more often. Sometimes u need that extra push to get you there! If you want something super basic, nothing flashy or fancy then this is the gym for you. It's about $10 a month, or you can do $20 a month for all locations and bring unlimited number of guests. Now I'm torn between a 2 star and 3 star rating for this place. First, I've been a member with 24 hour for years. Not switching, they're pretty basic as well, nothing fancy, has everything I need for a very reasonably priced. However, my gym has a sauna, basketball court, classes, pool, etc. which Planet does not. The big thing for me was no sauna! what!? AND what is up with that lunk alarm thing? They're supposed to be a judgment free gym supposedly, but then they have this alarm which screams and flashes when someone drops a heavy weight, grunts, or actually exerts effort. what the!!?? If a "zero" star existed as an option, i would of chose it. my dissatisfaction began before i even start utilizing the facility. i signed up for a membership and decided within the 3-day period to cancel. when i called the club to do so, i was told several times that i needed to talk to the clubs manager named ALVIN. i attempted to contact him several times within cancellation period with no success. on the final day of cancellation another employee told me that i didn't need to contact ALVIN because it was within the grace period and that all i needed to do was to come in the club and sign a document, this left me happy and frustrated because i was told something totally different over the past two days. although i only needed to come in and sign a form i was not able to get it done within a reasonable time because i was out of town, so i figured i'd just call the club to see if i could do the paperwork on monday since i didn't live in the area and i was given incorrect info over the past two days, the employee that i spoke with stated that they'd call ALVIN to see if that's ok since it was already late in the evening and i didn't live near by. once she called me back, she stated that ALVIN said that i needed to come in that evening and do the paperwork or else i'd be charged for a full membership. this response didn't sit well with me especially since it wasn't my fault that his employee gave me incorrect info for two days. he could of made an exception so i wouldn't have to come out there late in the evening from deep in mesa to do this paperwork. this let me know that it's not about the customer and he didn't care about his customer and that he'd rather inconvenience me for his employees mistake. bottom line is ALVIN is a jerk! read more

I felt like a total traitor coming here due to my love affair with Lifetime Fitness. However, my friend needed to work out and this was closer. First off, compared to Lifetime this place is crap. It's hideous purple color and these "no judgement" signs are bull. Now putting my snobbish Lifetime sensibilities behind me I actually enjoyed this gym. Everything was super clean, from the machines to the bathrooms. And that's difficult to accomplish when everyone is sweaty and needing to poop after a good workout. I also like the wall of keys, I have forgotten my keys so many times at the gym that I can really appreciate a wall to store keys while working out. And I love their little "quick 30 minute workout" area. It is a totally genius idea and I adored every minute of it. However I've been spoiled by the endless supply of clean towels at Lifetime and at Planet fitness they give you cheap brown paper towels and spray bottles instead. Such a cop out. So I would come back for sure, I might even jump ship because it's cheaper and more convenient - only if they replace the crappy paper towels with some real towels! read more

Gym is very clean, has free WiFi, a ton of HD TVs and everything and more as far as equipment. Lockers are clean and organized. They give free pizza and bagels once a month, odd for a gym but cool at the same time. The front desk employee is not friendly which is why this place doesn't get 5 stars from me. read more

These guys are top notch jerks. My husband went in a few weeks ago and was allowed a few trial FREE workouts to make sure he liked the place. He did end up signing up. Today, I went in and asked if I could have a trial too and decide if I was gonna be able to stay motivated and likely sign up. There were two girls and the one asked the other one who said it was 20$ A DAY TO WORKOUT. when mind you it's 50 to sign up and 10 a month. I left mad as hell they wouldn't allow me a one time trial. In my opinion... Don't believe the commercials that say how cheap it is to join. Just look at the contract you'll sign. You'll get a hefty "annual membership fee" a month after joining. If you want to cancel, you either have to go in person (so they can try and talk you into staying) or send a certified letter in the mail. No phone calls whatsoever. You'll also get charged a cancellation fee (since this was not a month to month contract) that is basically the equivalent of paying them for THREE FULL MONTHS of a membership, but you DO NOT get to use the gym still. So no matter what, the gym is guaranteed 4 full months of membership fees from you, even if you cancel after a week and you can't even use it. The worst part of all, the customer service is AWFUL. Want to speak to a manager? Nope, it's "call back later, we don't take messages", or "I don't have corporate's information, Google it yourself." They also refused to remove our payment information from our account, even after we cancelled. The girl said "ABC Billing does it, and I don't have the information for them. You'll have to find it on google yourself." Long review short, go somewhere else that doesn't charge hidden fees, and has employees who actually want to be there. read more

I signed up for my membership in the Arcadia location, which is the gym nearest to me. Thankfully for my black card membership, I am able to utilize their services in any location. During my staycation in Chandler while my apartment was undergoing maintanence, I had the convenience of using their gym here in Chandler which was great. As far as services you can use in this Gym, take this review from someone who had gone from $200 + a month for Lifetime Fitness, Boot Camp Fitness Classes, Palates and Barre memberships, and tried other various similar basic gyms like LA Fitness, Independence Gym and etc. I have done it all. And nothing satisfies my needs more than Planet Fitness does. Now I completely get that it is not for everyone, it is as simple as it gets. Easy, judgment free, no "lunking", and other perks such as tanning, massage and discounts to a few merchants. The reason why it benefits me so well is that I am very simple with my workout plan such as cardio, legs, arms, etc to which they have the most easy and user friendly machines that benefit an all over body work out. In addition to that, without the 24 hour availability, i would have never been able to sign up for a membership as I have a unique work schedule. I understand many have more particular work out needs and therefore would benefit from other gyms along with the sauna, pool , fitness classes, etc. I wish I had more time and schedule availability for all of that!! Overall, I couldn't have asked for more with Planet Fitness. When I was first introduced with the gym, I had went with my sister as a guest, and they never hassled me or pressured me into signing up for any memberships as other gyms did which felt borderline harassing. I was also not pressured when i first came into the Arcadia location, and had no intention of even signing up when all I wanted to do was workout in a gym for a night when my apartment gym was falling apart, but because of the positive environment, great customer service and healthy atmosphere, I could not turn the opportunity down. I really like the planet fitness franchise and atmosphere. This location has a ton of treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes. Cardio galore. And then only 2 stair climbers?!? They have a nice 30 minute work out area for quickies. Those machines don't fit bigger people and don't accommodate much weight being lifted. But it suits most people. The free weights area is nice sized. Plenty of space for everyone. And you will find several weight machines for every purpose. Why only 4 stars? Because every time I have gone I have had to change my routine due to broken equipment. The equipment was labeled as such and was repaired within the week. But that's my reason. PS I give my home gym in Avondale a 5 star rating. read more
