The folks here get a bad rap, but honestly, without Planned Parenthood, many women would simply not be able to afford basic routine services. Planned Parenthood offers more than just abortions and std treatment, folks! You can make an appointment for your regular pap, cancer screening, birth control, etc. They really do it all here! The folks at Planned Parenthood in Bakersfield are very kind and professional. From the time I arrived until I walked out of there, I had nothing but friendly and positive interactions with all staff. Everyone was very attentive and didn't make me feel awkward or uncomfortable at all. The office was very clean and well maintained. The payment process was fast and the staff made sure to explain each individual cost before moving forward with any services to make sure you aren't blind sided by the price at check out. The ONLY downside I can think of is how long it takes to get an appt... they were booking about a month out when I made my appointment. read more

i went in for a certain service that can be very emotional for any woman, from the beginning i already think its insane that they ask for payment upfront if your insurance doesn't cover a service, they dont offer a payment plan or anything, luckily for my partner and i the funds werent an issue but imagine it have been someone who does struggle financially? The only healthcare professional in the office who made my feelings feel validated and heard was the MA Rogelio, so sweet and informative and it didnt feel like he was reading from a script. after seeing him the RN who came in to do my ultrasound was very short and brief she didnt let us look at the screen, hear the heartbeat or anything she just printed my pictures and left, from there another nurse took us up to the biller to pay ( i hadnt even talked to the Dr yet ) once we paid we went back to the room where the nurse explained to us the process she was talking way to fast and was too happy to be explaining as im sitting there in tears. Once the Dr came in he was very nice and pleasant but short and brief as well, he didnt give me time to process and right away gave me the pill you take infront of him. But this last time the girl that gave me the depo shot made my arm bruise a little tiny bit . This has never happened to me. EVER!!! My experience at this planned parenthood wasn't as good as I hoped. I went in wanting to learn more about birth control and be able to get on something to protect myself. The staff there were not helpful and gave me the book to read and decide myself rather then help me and acknowledge me about all of the different forms of them. For the girls like me coming in to learn and be smart wanting to be protected, the staff should be more helpful with the decision of the patient for the best care. read more

Location is easy to find, and the parking lot is easy to maneauver. The staff was kind to me and got me in and out quickly. The woman who checked me in was at the end of her shift, and she still managed to offer me a smile. I was coming in for a Pap smear and breast exam. They did a great job getting me in and out and given the intimancy of the exams, put me at ease by making constant polite conversation. read more

They give you one price for services beforehand only to give a more expensive price AFTER you've already received the services and your stuck paying it. I'd recommend sticking another health care office if possible. I only gave them two stars for the fact they do outreach and is inclusive to the LGBTQ population. read more

This place is horrible. My wife has been to Planned Parenthoods in other places and have never had the problems that she has with this location. You can call for an appointment and be told there aren't any available for a month. That is if they actually answer the phone. Once you are at your appointment you better plan to wait at least 2 hrs or more before you actually get in to see the doctor. If you're coming in just to pick up your prescription, plan to wait an hour or more as well! Everywhere else my wife has ever been they don't make you wait and just give you the pills upon arrival. Came here at 8:09 AM sharp to get my lady parts checked out. The receptionist looked at my medical request on paper, and said a doctor could not see me. I was turned away for not having an appointment after the receptionist said she would "try to fit me in." There were not more than a handful of people in front of me as I arrived 9 minutes past opening. How long would my request take a doctor, you ask? 5-10 minutes max. Then, she tried to book an appointment with me, and the next one was over 1 month from now. For a woman who typically has to choose between being available to work to pay the bills vs. receive medical care (which should be a human right), I will take my lady parts elsewhere due to limited flexibility, availability, and poor attitude at this location. I love Planned Parenthood. Were it not for them, I'd never be able to maintain my lady health. I'm serious. I have no insurance so being able to get my lovely lady lumps and my "cave of forgotten dreams" checked regularly is such a relief. I think this Planned Parenthood is the prettiest one I've been to. The place is HUGE compared to LA area ones and very clean. I didn't have to wait 5-6 hours. I was seen about 45 mins after appointment time to get my Mirena IUD removed. The nurse was extremely professional and quick.The doctor lady was SO sweet. I felt so bad for her because I was all clammy and nervous as hell about the removal process - the IUD insertion was a fuckin' nightmare. Not joking. Probably one of the most painful things I've ever experienced and I almost passed out doing it. She assured me it wouldn't be a big deal but I was just freaking out the entire time. She was right though. It wasn't even a quarter as bad as the insertion and she did it quickly. Was quite impressed with this Planned Parenthood, to be honest. Would prefer to come to this one all the time but I don't live nearby. read more

They put an implant in years ago and my medical insurance said I had to go back to them because they cannot find it so I make and schedule and appointment they take my insurance and everything down say I'm good to go I show up for my appointment and am told I must pay now because they don't use my insurance when the lady checked it and my health care provider called to let me know that it was covered this place sucks read more

Inexperience staff, they weren't able to check my BP appropriately. They sent my prescription to the wrong pharmacy, I called for 3 days after my visit to follow up on the status and they still couldn't get my prescription sent out to the right pharmacy. They kept telling me that someone was going to call me to confirm, yet no one called. The girls on the answering service are useless when it comes to following up or taking action. The urgency to help/assist is certainly not they're main priority. Extremely disappointed. read more

My friend needed an abortion pill so we went in to schedule an appointment and the girl in the front told her she didn't have any appointments available but was able to sell it to her over the counter. Which we did, when we walked away we realized that the girl sold us a morning after pill!!! We had to go back and tell the girl what she sold us wasn't an abortion pill. Don't go here there. They are okay I've been here a few times. The service you receive is expected because it is a health clinic. The wait time is ridiculous. Planned to be here for a while. They're are never any open appointments. Sometimes the soonest they have is 2 months away. They also have wayyyy too many medical assistants that are still interning and not knowledgeable about a woman's body. These young medical assistants sit behind the desk and laugh and tell jokes without handling the patients charts. I wouldn't go here again. read more

I went in this morning as a walk-in at 8am, was greeted with such wonderful customer service. I was called back right away. Address all of my concerns, educated me on women's health. When I first came here I got a whole year of birth control for free. Second time I waited an hour after my appointment just to see how far a long I was in my pregnancy. Once I got back there it went by fairly quick. The guy who was working with me was a great guy. Gave me a reference list on what OBGYN I should see. With having just straight up medi-cal that list came in very handy since everyone I was calling didn't accept straight medi-cal. Finally found one on that list so thank you for that reference list!!! All appointments are at least 1 to 2 months away. I made an appointment, but have still been trying to walk in because I needed help sooner than two months away. I'm in between real insurance, and can not reapply for that until October. So I have been in on three separate occasions as a walk-in. I arrived before 8am, and each time they have told me there's no space, and that there's only one practitioner person there working. Then I was told that they don't actually know which days they accept walk-ins or not, because the manager decides each morning. So basically you are supposed to not work and be there every morning by 7:30 just in case the manager decides to accept a walk-in or not. read more
