SCW and I stopped into Planta Queen Coconut Grove while shopping nearby. I've wanted to dine here for a while and glad we got the opportunity to stop in for lunch. The interior is quite nice, soothing, well laid out with ample tables, bar seating, and a great calm vibe. We were quickly seated and ordered some drinks. We got some apps, the spicy crab hand roll and crab rangoon dip. Both plant based, and wow, they were incredibly delicious. Full of rich flavor, great textures and an awesome start for us. Our mains were equally delicious (a version of a Cuban sandwich and a rueben) . I was pleased with the impressive quality and flavors. The service was great. Not too intrusive or rushing, but attentive. I really enjoyed the nice calm vibe of the restaurant. Parking was fairly easy in the garage. The garage is automated so don't expect to be able to pay in cash. Overall I was impressed with the service and the quality of the food. SCW's only complaint was there was no purse hooks in the ladies room. That would be a appreciated addition. read more

I have had at least three different people rave about how good planta queen was and so I gathered a bunch of friends and went on a Monday. On Monday's they have all you can eat maki. We got 2 rounds of all the rolls and then a couple extras of the torched and pressed. I LOVED the torched and pressed roll. It had this great miso(?) sauce on top. The firecracker roll was really good too. I didn't expect the sweet potato to be such a hit. There was also a crispy rice thing I can't remember but I liked that a lot too! I appreciate how creative the rolls were and the presentation was nice too. The restaurant itself is really nicely decorated and spacious. The service was great. The noodles I ordered were very bland except for the bitterness of some greens, I assume. The server even acknowledged that many people complain that it is bland. So why is it still being served? Not sure what's going on with Planta Queen. I found out through Yelp today that they are permanently closed. I made a reservation a week ago because I knew I wanted this for my graduation dinner when I got to Miami. I checked the website to verify what Yelp said and it showed no signs of being closed so I called the telephone number and it said that the location was permanently closed. I looked at Planta's IG and it doesn't mention anything about being closed but someone in the comments (which are now limited) said that they aren't saying anything about locations closing and another person responded to that post and said imagine how the employees feel? It seems the locations closing was a surprise to everyone but Planta themselves. Oh well I have another restaurant that I'm excited to try in Miami that has vegan steak as well plus more. This place was incredible! Not only is their entire menu vegan, it consists primarily of vegan sushi options, which are hard to come by. Of the four of us who were there, we ordered between 8 and 10 different dishes, all of which were outstanding! In fact, they bring the food out as it is ready, and because it looked so good, we started eating and forgot to take pictures! Their location in Coconut Grove is beautiful; the restaurant is quite large and the ambience is lovely. We sat at a corner table surrounded by windows overlooking Coco walk, a bustling shopping/dining venue. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, even offering to take a picture for us when we left. The restaurant hours state that they're open till 930, but we inadvertently stayed until 1015 chatting and socializing; nevertheless, no one gave us disgruntled looks. Unfortunately it's no longer there, which was disappointing--hope they bring something similar back! Ordered the curried chickpea & tofu off the October exclusives menu and and scallion pancake egg wrap. The curried chickpea & tofu ($21.75) was a decent sized dish! Loved the flavor and the textures of the spinach and tofu. The scallion pancake egg wrap ($19.50) was also a hit! The pancake was crispy and paired well with the vegan egg (which honestly I couldn't tell based on appearance and taste that it was vegan). Both dishes were great--would definitely consider ordering those again. This place is a good option for eating out with vegan friends or if you just want a vegan meal once in a while. I love the variety of plant-based options in Miami, this being one of my favorites! As a plus, this Planta Queen had some pretty sweet happy hour deals as well as unique monthly specials. I tried the spicy tuna roll and the shiitake beef fried rice (a January special, $23) both of which were delicious and the shiitake "beef" had an impeccable crispy texture. The fried rice was loaded with plant proteins like lentils and edamame which actually tasted really great (and bonus for being very nutritious). The tuna roll was not that spicy and just had a bit of sriracha in the sauce--the rolls were simple but still very tasty. The staff were all very friendly. I'm not vegan but I once was for 7 years and have had my fair share of vegan food! I absolutely loved this and I'm mind blown by the flavors without using meat or diary. I've been to the location in south beach many years ago and I remember it being so delicious. The grove is the perfect home and we'll be here way more often. The ambience was lovely, tons of seating and even a game area in the front! Great for a group setting or date. We started off with drinks which were amazing! I tried the chili drink with tequila and then the lychee please. They were both so good the first drink was perfectly tangy with a kick and the second was sweet and fragrant. Then we ordered the spicy tuna handroll but they brought us the roll instead which I'm not mad about at all. It was absolutely delicious I raved about this back at home cause it's even better than spicy tuna which is one of my fav sushi's. We also got the Unagi Eggplant Nigiri which did not have the texture of eel but eggplant is my favorite vegetable so I loved this and the flavor is really down pact and a great alternative! The Udon was recommended by our server and it was creamy, decadent and the perfect dish to share. It was $130 for two of us and I left feeling super satisfied! My only call out is that the service was pretty slow and awkward, we were there for 2 hours and never got our waters refilled, second round of drinks came after 20 minutes even though the restaurant was empty, udon came like 10 minutes before the sushi but these are all fixable things and it was still very delicious I'll be back for sure! read more

CRISPY MUSHROOM HAND ROLL & SPICY TUNA HAND ROLL- I preferred the mushroom hand roll over the tuna since the watermelon does not dupe tuna the way I hoped. However, my friend preferred the tuna over the mushroom roll, so to each their own :) KOREAN CHICK'N BAO (2 PIECES)- delicious! the bao was nice and soft FIRECRACKER WINGS- delicious in the first few bites but it quickly got to be too rich/heavy without other dishes to balance it out. CHICK'N FRIED MUSHROOMS- who doesn't love battered and deep fried mushrooms? However, it also got too much to finish since it's so oily. I would have enjoyed it more if they had some sort of plain carb or vegetable cushioning the oilyness. CAESER SALAD- honestly one of my favorites!!! The kale bitterness was not noticeable at all with how tasty the dressing is. The fake meat was not that noticeable in the dish, so it was mostly just kale with a dressing. I am so obsessed with this place that immediately after my meal yesterday I went on the contact form on their website and begged them to open a location in the Orlando area. I need this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If they opened a location in Mills 50, I would be there for every happy hour. I even tried to figure out a way to go back today but couldn't make it work. I got the "Sake to Me" cocktail, with vodka, sake, watermelon, and yuzu. It was a little small but just the right level of sweet that I like. They had some other interesting cocktails as well, but let's get serious: I wasn't here for the cocktails. The first thing to come out was one of the small plates we ordered, the Sweet Corn Dumplings. We agonized over what to choose because there were SO many options that sounded delicious. The dumplings were a little slippery and soft, which made them a little difficult to eat with the smooth chopsticks provided, but the flavor was on point. They were just a little bit spicy and had an interesting fusion of delicious flavors. As a vegetarian who loves sushi, I do love the traditional offerings many sushi places have for vegetarians (sweet potato roll, avocado roll, etc.). But I have always been curious about the elaborate more "deluxe" sushi rolls available to the pescatarians and omnivores of the world. Planta makes all my sushi dreams come true and I am literally salivating thinking about their sushi menu. We tried the Firecracker Roll (sweet potato, avocado, and vegan unagi with potato straws, gochujang mayo, and chili salt on top) this time because it was only on their special menu for April. I LOVE gochujang so I didn't want to miss out on this one. It was packed with flavor and was a completely unique experience. It made me even more excited to try some of their other sushi options next time. The Chili Garlic Tofu was our final savory item, and it was a fantastic finale. Protip: do not try to put a giant piece of bok choy in your mouth whole, no matter how delicious it is. We still weren't full so we debated whether to get another small plate or dessert, and we eventually settled on dessert. We ordered the Bubble Waffle, which comes with taro ice cream, a sticky rice crunch, black sesame caramel, and strawberry. I think the ice cream has a coconut base--which I should have asked about, because I can't stand coconut. But that's just a personal preference, and I ate around it to try all of the other parts. The waffle was so fresh and soft, and the black sesame caramel was delectable. I also had a "Our 'Spresso Martini" dessert drink, which was a solid espresso martini with a little kick of cinnamon. There are SO MANY other things on the menu I can't wait to try and until I return to Miami I will be hoping and praying that Planta decides to open a restaurant in the 407. PLEASE!!!! read more

I visited this location a month ago, and I'm finally getting around to sharing my experience. This was my 8th time here, but unfortunately, the last three visits have been horrible. This time, I came specifically to try the ramen, and I was extremely disappointed with the service. First, I waited about 10 minutes without anyone approaching my table. I had to almost walk to the front where the host was just to get some attention. When our waitress finally came, she seemed tired and forgot the drink I ordered. I ordered appetizers and a main entrée, but for some reason, they both came out at the exact same time. Then, in the middle of my meal, our waitress's shift ended, and they said someone else would take over. The man looked like management, but he disappeared, and I couldn't find him anywhere. Eventually, about eight minutes later, a new waitress was introduced. By this point, my water glass was empty, I still didn't have my drink, and to top it off, the waitress brought me the check without asking if I needed anything else. I told her I actually wanted dessert, but by then, I was so frustrated I just told her to forget it and decided to pay the bill. This was the third bad experience I've had at this location. I regularly visit other locations like West Palm, Fort Lauderdale, and South Beach without issues, but after this, I'm officially done with this one. I won't be returning. read more

Im only giving 5 stars because their food is so good. Both planta locations (and their burger joint) in Florida are PERMANENTLY CLOSED. Not according to their website or social media, but according to a small sign on their door and the girl working in the restaurant who told me. I drove all the way from Naples on 7/31/25 to go to this location, with absolutely no warning that they'd be closed since they were just open the day before I'm pretty sure. Maybe post on your website and make an announcement on social media before abruptly closing all Florida locations? Very odd and disorganized. The other items came out separately at different times. By the time my items came out the other items my friend had ordered were cold as she was waiting on my items so we could eat together. We have gone many times as a date night, a celebration dinner, or a fun restaurant for out-of-town friends to enjoy Coconut Grove. Our go-to dishes are the bang bang broccoli, which is so good that sometimes we end up ordering two servings. It's crunchy, and the sauce is amazing. I love the dragon roll and have a hard time sharing it. I have tried their other sushi rolls because they have very unique types of rolls (and most veggie rolls at sushi restaurants all end up being the same), but the dragon roll is by far my favorite because of the crunch, avocado, and sauce. I also always have to have the eggplant nigiri because the truffle and smoky flavor is so good! On this date night, we ordered the special too, which was the squash dumplings. They were nice, but I would probably try something else off the menu. In the past, we have enjoyed the general D's cauliflower, and we have a lot more to try! The service is always amazing, and the dishes come out quick and as they are ready. My husband has a mushroom allergy, and last time we came, they had a special menu prepped just for him with the items containing mushroom or having it on the side. First became a fan of Planta almost five years ago at their Miami Beach location. It was easily my favorite vegan restaurant anywhere. Visited the West Palm Beach beach location of Planta and was disappointed and figured the Planta of days gone by, was gone, another changed victim of the virus days. Learned there was another version - Planta Queen & decided to give it a shot. It was just like the Planta I remembered, awesome service, lots of gluten free options and very delicious. We asked what was available gluten free, and of the whole menu, I think only six items could not be made gluten free! We ordered as follows: Cauliflower Tots - C Torched & Pressed Sushi - A Jackfruit Wings - A Truffle Fried Rice - A I was expecting more of a cauliflower florets for the tots, but it was more of a puréed and formed then fried item. It wasn't my taste, it's the only thing I wouldn't order again. Everything else was top notch like I remember from The Before Times of Planta. There's Plantas opening in California soon and our server told us those will have more of a Hispanic flair. Will definitely have to check those out. read more
