    Ahi Tuna

['plas] is a Short North hidden gem! It's perfect for a date night, happy hour, or a quality meal with close friends! The service is top notch and the vibes are extraordinary Their cocktails are so tasty and have fun twists to ensure you have a quality beverage that you can't get anywhere else. The bread service that comes with the meal is fun and unique & the appetizers like the ahi tuna are delicious. The charcuterie board (both standard and vegan) is a must! All of their entrees are prepared to perfection and taste fantastic! Give them a try!

Plas is DELICIOUS and innovative! The service is fantastic, and the rustic interior upstairs, or library feel downstairs, make for a very inviting experience. Our server, Evangeline, was absolutely outstanding. She recommended dishes for us, and there was not a miss at the table. We started with the pie pumpkin appetizer - maple peppercorn prosciutto | parmigiano fonduta | fall fruit mostarda; it was truly exceptional - plenty of "fall" flavors, and entirely edible (the pie pumpkin was delicious!) My husband and I couldn't decide between all the appetizers, so ordered a smattering of those, instead of an entree: beets-n-ricotta; seared rare tuna; filet tartare and harvest mozzarella. Oh my goodness -- each one was better than the next, and all beautifully presented. Our friends each had the Cappelletti and said the pasta was perfectly cooked . . . all I know was they were scraping the plate for every last bit. We aren't usually big dessert people, but Evangeline really supported us trying the olive oil cake, and we are so glad we did. Dense and delicious, it was the perfect way to end the meal. Run, don't walk, to Plas!

It's been a while since we came to Plas and it was wonderful. For starters we shared the charcuterie board, which had a nice variety of meats, cheese, and olives. For dinner my wife and I shared the lamb shank, which was delicious. The service was excellent and the ambiance is very nice.

This place is amazing! We visited on a nice day and were able to enjoy the outdoor space. Everything our table ordered was delicious. The dishes tasted fresh and were the perfect amount of food. The menu isnt large but our group found it easy to find something we could enjoy.

Heirloom Tomato Caprese and the Summer Salad
    Becky K.

My coworkers and I came here because they were very Vegan friendly and one of us is vegan. Unfortunately, we are a huge lunch and hadn't gotten hungry enough by our dinner reservation. So we decided to eat apps and just have a snack-y dinner. We got the Vegan Cheese platter, the summer salad, heirloom caprese, polenta "fries," and the crab and langoustine panzanella. Mixed reviews on the food. Favorites were the summer salad and caprese. The vegan cheese platter was fun with a lot of accoutrements but no crackers or bread which was weird. The polenta fries were well cooked but bland. There was some sort of sauce but it was also bland. With a better sauce, the polenta would have been higher on the list. The panzanella was worst dish. It was NOT a panzanella. No croutons. No tomatoes. No vegetables. It was a cold crab and langoustine salad on top of bread. We sent it back and they were very nice about it. But very disappointing. Lastly, for beverages, we tried a bunch of different options for their mocktail list. Very good! Overall, the service was great and the outdoor patio we sat in was beautiful and cozy. We would like to come back and try their entrees which looked very good. But for now, they get a 4.

This was fun. Was seated in the cellar which looks like a cellar in a century house, because it is. Very cozy, though if all the tables were occupied, it would have been tight. Ordered the charcuterie board. No idea what I was eating, but it was all delicious! Daughter ordered the gnocchi and sausage which was very good. I had some gravy thing which was actually spaghetti and meatballs. The bolognese sauce was plentiful, and when hit with some salt and crushed red, became awesome. Pasta was great, meatball was okay. I'm a smoked meatball snob, and this one was a bit bland, and not smoked, but big. Had the cheesecake and peanut butter mouse which were very good. Servers were very friendly. Took a while to get the drinks, but we had time so I'm not bitching.

    Porcini-onion jus plant-based short rib

To any plant-based gourmands looking for a place to split a superb meal with others who may want more traditional fare, I wholeheartedly recommend you give ['plas] a try! My sister and I chose ['plas] as the culmination of our Columbus Restaurant Week on Saturday evening due to their unique menu and strong vegan offerings alongside traditional omnivore fare, an uncommon pairing in the fine dining landscape. Our expectations were immediately exceeded by the first course - for me, an applewood-smoked beet carpaccio with an exquisite blend of full-bodied flavours (chipotle pepitas, tarragon crème) that was likely the culinary highlight of the whole night. The experience as a whole, however, was quickly superseded by ['plas]'s darling staff and ownership - when a small kitchen snafu threatened to derail our three-course evening, our server Ana dropped what she was in the midst of doing and immediately brought all hands on deck and involved Jackie, one of the passionate and knowledgeable owners, to make sure our night became even more magical than it had been. In contrast to other similar experiences I have had with being a vegan guest at locations where I'm not the restaurant's target audience, their response made me feel welcome, important, and at-ease about my meal. After some truly inspired desserts and one-of-a-kind cocktails, as well as a plant-based short rib that was nigh-indistinguishable from the real thing, we had an opportunity to share a heartfelt conversation with Jackie about the aesthetic and artistic inspirations for the cosy and romantic atmosphere, and left with full stomachs and even fuller hearts. These people are true professionals, but more importantly, they are wonderful human beings who will go out of their way to ensure you and your companions have an unforgettable night if you give them the chance. We will absolutely be returning to celebrate my birthday with the lovely people of ['plas]!

This place... I can't say enough how special they made our groups evening. We brought our work team here, we had about 6-8 with us. Service... IMPECCABLE, Drinks... perfection... THE FOOD!!!!! Their chef makes their own cheeses and combines flavors in a wonderfully balanced way. Plas is a foodies dream! We tried a little bit of everything on the menu and we loved it all. The charcuterie board, the ragout, the duck carbonara, goat cheese ravioli, omg the truffled ricotta, you can't go wrong! Loved our server, he was very knowledgeable and the manager came and checked on us. The decor is fresh and bright and is the cherry on top of the experience. Thank you to their team and highly recommend you try it for yourself!

Very creative menu in an interesting space (I'd definitely the upstairs over the simple room downstairs). So really creative flavor combinations and riffs on classic dishes. Cocktails were less good but solid. Our server was excellent and friendly - would definitely go back.

Fresh Bread with Pickled Vegetables and Herb Butter
    Anvaya N.

Plas is fine dinning restaurant that changed its menu for every season. We tried their summer menu They started us off with some fresh bread which was spectacular with the herb butter The second best would be the lobster salad which was fresh creamy and delicious The other two items from the select menu were just disappointing. The enchilada style stuffed with shrimp was just bland and lacked seasoning. It seemed like they had just fixed it in boil tomato sauce. The seafood boil on the other hand was just too salty. The sausage was bit funky and i just couldn't finish it Service was good our server Doug was friendly They have some good selection of wine Honestly I am shocked at the number of high ratings as for the price point($50 set menu, $10/$12 glass of wine takes it to about $75:$80 per person) our food seemed extremely overrated and disheartening.

    Olive oil cake

Everything...each drink was on point. Everything...the apps were so good. 100% have the beef cheeks, have the leeks and ricotta, and have the smoked mussels. (We didn't have a main course but I heard the lamb is fabulous). Everything...the dessert, olive oil cake, omg! Everything...the bartender Phil was kind, attentive, and suggested the best of the menu. Everything...the owner Jackie, gave us a taste of her specialty strawberry-cello mix. Everything...the other owner Eric, stopped by to tell us his inspiration for some of the meals. Everything is great here. Go. Go. Go

I went here for the first time with a larger group of 10. It was restaurant week so we were limited to the pre fixe menu. The food was good and the service was too. The atmosphere was pretty popping. They had a vegan option for the pre fixe which I appreciated and overall I thought this place was about a 4 star place. I'll probably return sometime I'd be curious to see what their standard offerings are. I thought the dessert was fantastic!

First time here and had a very enjoyable eve . It's small and a unusual menue . Our waiter , Xander, did a great job in his suggestion of the wine , which was very good . And in explaining the menue . We had the lobster roll panzanella appetizer which was good and my daughter had the parmigiana crusted pork Milanese and I had the crab cake cannelloni. Both was very good . For desert we had the summer berry. Pound cake . Which was delicious. I certainly recommend this place if you are looking for something different

Every single plate was hitting. The steak was cooked exactly how I asked, seasoned well, and actually had flavor all the way through. The lobster ravioli was rich but not heavy, and the salmon was flaky and done right, not dry at all. What really made it though was the service. They were attentive without hovering, kept the drinks coming, and made it feel like a special night without being extra about it. For a birthday dinner, that matters. If you're going, don't go playing small. Order what you actually want. It's one of those places where you lean into the experience and enjoy it. I couldn't imagine better brussels sprouts it was crispy but also soft in the center so you didn't have to fight your way through eating them even good restaurants. I have good flavor and good sauce for brussels sprouts aren't as soft as these ones. This was great. Lamb chops: 6.5/10 - very sweet small lamb chops! Cooked well and had good flavor I just wasn't personally blown away. The Clover Club: 9/10 - knew exactly what I wanted. Had Monkey 47 which is the BEST gin for this drink. Wasn't the best one I've had but pretty close for it not being on the menu. Filet: 7/10 - a little Gamey but it was cooked well as it should be. Didnt have anything unique about it just was don't like a filet should be done. The carrot was cooked to perfection which brought her review up. The fried potato was also amazing best part of the whole dish, especially with whatever spread they put on it. The fillet was not the highlight the carrot and the potato were. Sea Bass: 1/10 - genuinely did not taste good very gamey very fishy took two bites didn't eat it. The soup it came in was a little sour not a good flavor would not recommend. Hamachi Crudo: 3/10 - we are sushi snobs so take this with a grain of salt. It could totally be something that you love, but I hate when somebody brings out a piece of Nigiri or sashimi and it's warm. This dish has potential the flavors around it were very fresh but the hamachi was room temperature when it should be ice cold and the flavors felt like an after thought. Menu: 4/10 - nothing to write home about when it comes to the options. A very corporate get what you expect type restaurant. They aren't doing anything revolutionary here Atmosphere: 7/10 - definitely a nice spot. It's very clean bathrooms are intimate and also very clean again. Nothing revolutionary here the demographic when we went was very old and corporate. Price: 5/10 - $340 plus idk... I feel like this was worth $180-$220 personally for the price I never complain about price anywhere I go out to eat, especially fine dining, but this place was overcharging for what they're actually giving for sure. Overall: 6.5/10 - I would recommend this place to someone who doesn't really care about Food that much and is wowed by like an STK or a more chain like "fancy restaurant" I was hoping to get more of a small boutique very intentional experience at this restaurant just based on the outside by the field, but it definitely feels like they've cut a few corners when it comes to building a really unique food experience I would love to come back and give it another try because maybe I just came at an off time. We started with a Hot Apple Cider, topped with maple-infused whipped cream and cinnamon, along with a couple of hot coffees. The cider was warm, comforting, and full of cozy fall flavors. Unfortunately, the self-serve coffee station wasn't kept stocked, and after waiting quite a while for a refill, we eventually gave up. For breakfast, we ordered two Mushroom Frittatas, a Fresh Buttermilk Biscuit, and a side of Housemade Breakfast Sausage. The Mushroom Frittata featured three hearth-baked eggs with roasted mushrooms, sweet onions, and Gruyère cheese, served alongside breakfast potatoes and a peppery arugula salad. It was flavorful, hearty, and incredibly satisfying. Although I informed the staff about my peanut allergy, I was surprised to find the crispy breakfast potatoes on my plate, which left me uncertain whether the allergy request had been fully communicated to the kitchen. The Fresh Buttermilk Biscuit, served with strawberry preserves, was one of the highlights of the meal. It was flaky, buttery, and wonderfully moist, pairing perfectly with the sweet preserves. The Housemade Breakfast Sausage consisted of two peppery pork patties that were juicy and well-seasoned, making a great accompaniment to the rest of the meal. Overall, we enjoyed a delicious and filling breakfast with fresh, high-quality ingredients. While I wish the coffee station had been monitored more closely and that greater care had been taken regarding my food allergy, the Mushroom Frittata and fresh biscuit alone make Northstar Café worth returning to.

My wife and I started dinner at 5:45 and didn't leave until 8:45 and it was a lovely evening. We chatted for hours, sampled some absolutely delicious food, and just generally relaxed. We had a lovely server, but to say it was just a single person would do the staff injustice. I feel like every single employee in the place waited on us. All of the staff were knowledgable and gave off pretty cool, chill vibes. Three hours is a long meal, but the pacing was superb. Courses didn't come out like beats on a metronome. Rather, the pacing was changed to meet the waxing and waning excitement for the next plate of an absolutely enormous amount of food. The appetizers came in at a measured pace, the mains slowed, and then deserts were served rapid fire. Between courses, staff might stop by for a quit chat before moving on to the next pressing matter. Lots of staff offered their thoughts on their favorite dishes or suggestions on how a plate my be best enjoyed. The whole experience lacked any pressure or pretense. There were fine dining touches such as replacement of my wife's napkin after she stepped away for a break, but it felt more like eating at a cool friends house than it did eating in the ballroom of a palace. Do you know what I mean? You aren't going to Agni for opulence. You are going for a cool exciting food adventure that you aren't going to get many places and certainly very few in Columbus. We had the Midwest Tasting Menu. 11 courses? Something like that. It was expensive, but I don't even mind it. We loved the "Health Sodas" that were curated by the bartenders. My wife had a coconut, lime, and guava concoction and I had some else that was sweet and fruity and tart. The first few bites of pani puri with spiced ginger and then the "happy meal" and salad course really set the tone of a kitchen that puts out excellent dishes with balanced flavors. For me, the best bite of the night was the Thai noodle salad. It was just a perfect amount of spicy with lots of textures. Mine was served with tofu since I'm not a seafood lover and it was the best tofu preparation I've ever had. My wife's favorite was the "soup and salad" course which is hard to describe, but I agree that it was delicious. The low point of the evening's food for me was in the seafood course. My wife loved her actual seafood, but my vegetarian replacement was a miss. They served it with a piece of baby eggplant that was nearly raw; crunchy and practically inedible. I will forgive them, but I think that one needs to be rethought. The end of the meal had lots of little fun touches. The bill comes in a giant lego minifigure head. The restaurant provides a souvenir menu that lists all the dishes that were tried. There were some curated, store-bought candies for take away. All-in-all, it was just an excellent experience. Do yourself a favor and try it, but go hungry and maybe don't try to eat every bite of every dish so that you aren't hurting by the end of the night.
