DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE IF YOU VALUE IT'S LIFE Would rate -5000 stars if I could, I am a fabricator and mechanic by trade, and needed my exhaust welded and brake lines redone in the rear due to the exhaust hanging and smacking the brake lines. I had plans to move out of state 3 days after the bracket snapped. Called them up, after talking to various shops, and had accepted I wouldn't be leaving on time, as I didn't have access to my own welder. Low and behold, they said no problem and booked me asap. Let me drop off right then as they are close to me. Told me it would be done next day. Welding "got done" and then everything got delayed by the brake lines delayed arrival. No worries there as it wasn't necessarily their fault. YOU KNOW WHAT IS? The so called "welds" they did, were as I noticed from the beginning, super sloppy, and I wasn't happy already, but that pales in comparison to the convenience of getting it done so fast... OR SO I THOUGHT. These buffoons decided it would be a GREAT idea to use a sideways bolt as a bridge for the gap in the hanger. It's a very simple L shaped hanger that could be either repaired properly or completely fabricated in under an hour by somebody competent. You won't find that here. Competence is apparently not in their job description here. Taking advantage of you rich folk who don't know much about your car. Please do yourself a favor and go to issaquah or redmond, don't even trust these guys with an oil change. Also contacted them after the fact, and the guy I had been dealing with Iliya, acted like he would do something and felt bad, and had me text photos of the broken weld, and zero response. Nothing. A great and convenient place on the plateau to have your car serviced. Geoff took care of me dropping off the car in 5 mins (with one short form to fill as a first-timer.) His team did a 60K-mile check-up on my car and found that the rear brake pads needed replacement. Both jobs were done on the same day at a reasonable price. I value his honesty as he could have said that I needed both front and rear brakes done and I wouldn't have been any wiser. A week later, I got my tires changed at Costco. Costco said that they had problem putting my lug nuts back and that I needed to have a mechanic check the lug nuts/studs. Geoff helped me fix them the next day without charging me an extra dime. Always try to upsell on things not needed. A radiator fix was given for a $900 for estimate to replace everything from hose to thermostat. All repairs come with 2 bills. 1st bill is diagnostics which is $80. 2nd bill is the actual fixing cost. Most mechanic I worked with will credit the 1st bill back while repairing the car. Great shop on the Sammamish Plateau located at 228th Ave & NE Inglewood Hill Rd behind Mercury's Coffee. Geoff and his staff have been around for years and are true professionals of their craft. With this shop located on the Plateau, there is no reason to drop down into Redmond or Issaquah. If you are going to wait for your repair, there is plenty of shopping nearby as well as coffee shops. I recently had an oil change and wipers replaced. Geoff is a straight shooter and didn't try to upsell me on anything the car didn't need. I took my BMW 2010 X5 48i to do Brake Job. Geoff charged me $234.56 for front brake pad, $292.06 for front rotors & $ 252.20 for rear brake pad, $275.76 for rear rotors. After repair, he refused to give me the copy of part receipt with stupid excuse, then I found he charged me at least $150 more on the parts ( if he used BMW genuine parts like he claims,which I will find out soon ). I gave him permission to fix it at 3 PM, and picked up car at 5 PM. Even if I assume he had BMW genuine parts at 3 PM ( highly doubt it !), for 2 hour labor, he charged me $468 . When I turn to leave the store, saw the wall has slogan written " Integrity, Excellence, and Value ! " ... Shame on You ! I have been using Plateau Motors before they were even there. Geoff used to own a shop in downtown Redmond and so he has worked on my cars for over 10 years. I have always found him to be honest, thorough, and efficient. My experience is like the other reviewers where he tells you what the car needs and what is most important. He realizes that as a car ages, sometimes it needs several items and one can't always do everything at once. He doesn't try to push you in to a bunch of expensive repairs but takes the time to explain why you need what he's recommending and which ones could wait for later. He has done everything for me from oil changes to tune ups to a full transmission. All of his work has been top quality and a fair price. I strongly recommend Geoff and Plateau Motors. read more

I'm giving this place 3 stars. But you have to know that I would give most of the other auto place 0 to 1 star...., so it's above ok. The owner is friendly, the staff is courteous, the service is prompt, and their waiting room is clean with comfortable seating. It's within the same block with McDonald and Tully's coffee (free WiFi) and block away from the library, so you have other options where to wait. I believe it's an independently owned small business. You won't have to worry about getting shocked to find out that one day the manager has been replaced and everything you liked about the place is gone. What I like about this place is that I don't leave this place wondering if I should even be driving my car... They don't give you a long list of "recommendation". I hated when other places suggested so many "recommended" service. Maybe if you know more about cars, it's not big deal. You can figure out what really is necessary. But when you don't know much about cars, it's overwhelming. The owner explains thing in ways that I can understand. I believe he's honest about if something really needs to be done or not. I have only done scheduled maintenance stuff here, so I don't know how well they do the major repair work. read more

I have had multiple cars in to see Jeff/Plateau Motors. Both my wife and my car, my daughters cars, and a relative I have referred to Jeff. There are several instances where he was so helpful on either advice and recommendations. Never has he recommended something that did not really need to be done and just gave us an honest opinion. Example. We were getting transmission fluid changed by an oil change place. They noted there was something that gave them suspicion on the transmission and thought we should have it looked at. Brought to Plateau Motors, nothing was really wrong, and Jeff just changed the transmission oil for us. We easily could have been told it needed a new transmission and would not have known any better. I have 1 or two other instances where I could have been charged more, but Jeff just stated what was needed and that was that. Fast and efficient, and appointment lead time is usually pretty quick. Geoff and the team at Plateau Motors have earned my trust several times over the years. They're always fair and thorough, and on many occasions have helped me with the small things at no charge. For example, we were having trouble starting our minivan and a jumpstart didn't work. Desperate and fearing it was something more significant than a drained battery, I called Geoff in hopes he could come up with a way to get my car to him for a quick repair. It was a little after the time they usually close, but Geoff picked up and immediately walked me through some troubleshooting over the phone for 10 minutes, till we got the car started. Brought my wife's car here recently instead of where we usually take it (Michael's Toyota Bellevue). Geoff is easy to work with, he gives off a vibe that he's trustworthy and not trying to squeeze you for everything he can get which is how i feel at the dealership. I was able to leave the car at Plateau Motors late at night because they have a convenient key drop box with envelopes that act as a form for you to add the key and write in the contact info. He got back to me mid-morning with an estimate and the car was ready that afternoon. The overall cost met my expectations and he gave me advice on some other things to watch for in the future. While i was waiting in his lobby area i had the opportunity to watch Geoff interact with a family picking up their really old car. Geoff was extremely patient answering their basic questions and giving advice to them to save some money with deferring some expensive tasks that were not a priority yet for the overall health of the vehicle. In other words, he probably had an opportunity to get away with recommending more work, instead he gave his honest opinion to save them $$$. Sent my car twice here once to replace a defective coil and second for a 120K service. For the first coil replacement Geoff actually offered an option to replace a single coil where others insisted to replace all. Truly appreciate the advice for a lower cost option and also transparent about the risk. The second visit was a major service that I sent before Thanksgiving without an appointment. I was anticipating a few days to a week since I expected a long back log. Instead I got my car in 2 days and Geoff was actually embarrassed it took that long when he was a man short for the week. Paid my bills and went for dinner when I got called an hour later. Initially I was worried but it was Geoff letting me know that he overcharged me $120 because I he keyed in a wrong line, can't recall the detail. This is the second vehicle we have brought here for service. My Ford Escape was making noises and stressing me out and it turns out I needed a wheel bearing and hub on my front driver side. During the service they told me they had nicked the boot and were going to replace it for free. The boot wouldn't come off so they wound up replacing the whole axle. No cost to me! What a surprise that was! I so appreciate their honesty. They were able to do a quick turnaround also. We will definitely come back. read more

These other reviews must be outdated. My car was working fine before I brought it in for regular maintenance. $1100 later and it sounds like it's about to fall apart. I brought it back in because it was just unacceptable that they returned it to me the way they did. They tightened a belt and gave it back but the car is still making horrible noises. Also, with the receipt, I received a list of other things that needed replacing all of which I was told would be pricey but never got an actual quote. I gave my email address so that the quote could be emailed to me, but I never got an email. Wouldn't matter anyway, I wouldn't bring my car back here if they paid me. The communication is horrible. I would get calls and they would forget what they were calling me for and have to call me back. Any time I asked a question I'd have to wait on hold or have to wait for them to call me back with an answer. Who is running this place?! Total ripoff. They will try to bleed you dry! Usually I'll do my own repairs but I have dealt with plenty of repair people in my 56 with the fleet of vehicles I have in my business, so I'm no stranger to this line of work. Great service! Took the car in with no upfront appointment for a leaking coolant issue and Geoff and his team took care of the problem with no upselling and straight up advice. The water pump needed to be replaced. The car feels and runs so much better. He appeared very knowledgeable about intricate details of makes and models and was aware that Audi SUV's manufactured between 2010-2013 have an issue with overconsumption of engine oil after they reach a certain age. He made great suggestions to deal with this annoying issue. He didn't share but I could see he had topped off fluids and made is more roadworthy than the car needed post repair. Snake oil salesman..... this guy thinks EVERYONE is completely clueless regarding mechanical aptitude and ability. And he's absolutely condescending to boot. I brought me vehicle to him, and he actually tried to get me to believe that it would cost upwards of $10,000 to fix. Well, I think to myself, he's either stupid or a snake oil salesman. I believe the latter to be true. The sonofabitch. I've got to wonder how many people in our fairly well to do area actually pay this guy the kind of money he asks. I personally am just lazy, but, with someone trying to take advantage the he does, i become very 'not lazy' if not a bit agitated. In the end i said give me my keys, to which he says you don't want your car fixed? I said i do, but i was going to do it. Not him. I told him I'm lazy, but stupid! The fall of some people amazes me. Took our vehicle in for repairs. They called us and told us that it needed a new sensor for $200 and a tail light assembly for almost $300. We talked about it and decided we would have our sensor fixed as this affects the run ability of the vehicle. He said he would email us a quote so we could see the estimate. When we opened our email it was for $800. There was $300 in diagnostic fees that they did not tell us about or get our approval for. They also tried to charge us $40 for a fuse. I was floored. They proceeded to tell us that you could only get the parts from the dealer. Well to make a long story short.......They took the fuse off the bill and we paid $260 dollars to have zero work done to the car. Bought a sensor from O'Reilly's for $40, put it in and the car runs great. We will pay another $80 and fix the tail light here shortly. I don't think I have ever been so disappointed in a business interaction in my life. They are not trustworthy and they are sneaky. PLEASE BEWARE!! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place! The owner, Geoff, goes beyond the call of duty. I had a dead battery so I couldn't get my car to the shop to have a new battery put in (no, I was not in a rush and I didn't need my car towed; the battery had been dead for a couple of months and the car was in my driveway). Geoff did not hesitate to drive out to my house to jump start my car (I'm only 2-3 min away) and when my new battery that I had already purchased proved to be too small for my car because the battery seller didn't include the height adjuster tray for the battery in my order, Geoff jimmy-rigged up a "height adjuster" with a piece of wood and got my new battery put in and secured. He told me that if I get the tray from the battery seller, just bring the car back in and he'll put the tray in for me with no extra charge. I don't know what the typical charge for a battery installation is, but Geoff charged me $52 for everything, which I thought was fairly reasonable considering the extra trouble I put him through. The following is just a small thing, but kind of shows how honest and nice the shop is. After he replaced my battery, Geoff asked me if I wanted my old battery core back because everywhere he's purchased a battery from will give a $10 refund if you give them the old battery core for recycling into making a new battery. I told him I didn't know since my new battery was mail order, so he volunteered to hold on to my old battery core at his shop so that I could either go back and pick it up if I decide I do want it, or they can dispose of it properly for me. He also asked me if I knew my radio code, because my radio wouldn't work without a code after he replaced my battery. I know it's not anything big, but attention to small details like that really work to instill confidence in me. The auto shop is kind of hidden and you cannot see if from the street, so just pull in to the mini mall across the street from Safeway, and circle around following the shops. The shop is located in the alley between McDonalds and the Shell station. It's not big, but it is tidy and several large windows allow you to see the mechanics working on the cars from the waiting room. The staff is friendly and very helpful. After the great service I received from Geoff, I'm more than willing to go back for any auto work I need done. read more
