Before heading over, I called to ask about parking and was happy to learn they have a parking structure attached to the restaurant that validates, so make sure to bring your ticket. The moment I walked in, the place felt lively and welcoming. You grab a menu at the entrance, order and pay at the counter, then find your own seat. Unfortunately, after waiting in line and making it to the register, I was told the Short Rib Scramble was a seasonal item and no longer available. I won't lie, I was pretty disappointed. Thankfully, the cashier quickly stepped in with a recommendation and suggested the Steak Breakfast Burrito. It ended up being a great call. The burrito was packed with juicy steak, bell peppers, and had the perfect crispy exterior that gave it a great texture without being overdone. Every bite was balanced and flavorful. While I came for one dish and left with another, the friendly service, helpful staff, and delicious food made the experience worth it. I'll definitely be back, and maybe one day I'll finally get to try that famous Short Rib Scramble.

It was served separately from the main course and grilled, whereas I was expecting fresh salmon. Furthermore, I paid about $50 for breakfast--coffee and a sandwich--which I consider unreasonably high for such a setting. Unfortunately, I don't plan to return.

More like 4.5 stars but definitely worth trying!!…read more Ambiance is decent .. very casual, self serve water which I like. While it's a counter order place you can add stuff once seated. Food came out pretty fast and they were decently busy The miso salmon 4.5/5 was delicious but just a little over priced, definitely still worth trying though The fried chicken sandwich 5/5 and potato wedges were excellent. Kinda wish the potatoes were a little crispier but they were fully cooked and delicious. Got the hot sauce on side cuz sometimes not a fan of places "Nashville" hot .. but this one was really good Mimosa flight is actually EXCELLENT 5/5 .. the are all delicious but having blood orange and regular orange is a little redundant.. blood orange was better so would love to see regular orange into something fun .. also the bottle version coming with all 3 options .. but would still order the flight every visit Puff cakes are basically tiny pancakes 4/5 .. maybe pancake/angel food cake .. if you order this as a dessert it's great .. as a meal it's lacking .. lemon cream one was fire Cookies were good, s'mores thing was decent. Red velvet donut was dry Overall pumped to go back and try other items for sure

How can anyone give this lovely, charming, cozy, beautiful, quaint, bright restaurant anything but…read more5 stars?? Well, since I heard so much about this place, I wanted to give them a try. I am SO glad that I did. Walked in yesterday around 12;15pm, grabbed a menu and stood in line. They had a long line and the line was moving pretty fast. By the time that I got to the register it was 12:30pm. The way that this place works, you stand in line, place your order, they give you a number, grab a table (inside or outside) and they will bring out the food to you. Pretty easy and simple. Caleb H. rang me up for a few dishes that my friend Ana and I ordered. We got: Omelette, ($19.95), came with hashbrowns. Added 4 ingredients: Tomatoes, Spinach, Red Bell Peppers, Cheddar/Jack Cheese and for an additional Garlic Mushrooms, paid $0.95 cents. (I can't eat my omelette w/out Mushrooms). It just doesn't taste right. Then, I ordered their Avocado Toast ($13.95), Nikki's style. They had 2 different kinds. The toast came with Prosciutto Ham, Avocado mashed with lemon, topped with a Sunny egg, Chimichurri, Allepo pepper sauce and lettuce. We also got Chicken Caprese Sandwich ($16.95) that came with Oven roasted shaved chicken breast, Basil pesto aioli, Arugula, Tomatoes, fresh Mozzarella cheese, Balsamic glaze, toasted Ciabatta bread and a side of salad. For a drink I got 12oz freshly squeezed Orange Juice, ($6.00), she stayed with water. We were greedy and I got Coffee Cake Muffin ($4.50), and another dessert Bread Pudding was treated by their general Manager by the name of Daniel. Such a sweet gesture. I think they saw my Yelp tote bag, :-)) Food came out pretty quickly and it was piping hot considering that they had a lot of customers on a Saturday afternoon. We sat inside, because outside was very crowded. Everything tasted above and beyond fresh and DELICIOUS!! Portions were generous and HUGE!! Wendy brought out our food, and all 3, Ernesto, Wendy, and Daniel checked on us couple of times. I think I pretty much covered everything. They had 2 gender neutral restrooms and they were fully stocked with all the essentials. Both the restaurant & bathrooms were very clean. Underground parking, (1st 90 minutes was free with validation). Also street, meter, parking were available. I can't wait for my next visit. Thank you all very much!! They also have another location in Porter Ranch..

I also got Deep Fried Oreos since someone mentioned they got some at a fair recently. The Health Nut made me feel great while I was eating and after I ate it as well. It is hard to not eat an item filled with avocado, mushrooms, pickled vegetables, baby cucumbers, cashews, chimichurri and sunflower seeds on vegan telera! The side dish of the chili made it a great combination. As for the dessert, four Oreo cookies that were battered and deep fried with powdered sugar and Ghirardelli chocolate made this wholesome meal one of the best I had in awhile! I really enjoy this place and the variety that the menu offers!

And this is how it was one night after eating dinner at another restaurant nearby...the enticing-looking slices at Gjelina Take Away beckoned, and I answered the call. Considering Gjelina proper is one of the more difficult restaurants to get into if you don't plan in advance, being able to get a taste of their deliciousness at the adjacent take-away version is a gift to us all. Their Pomodoro pie (think perfectly thin and crispy crust, generous size, and tomatoes galore on top) looked out of control, so we got a slice. Add burrata cheese? Oh, yes, please do that. And they did, and we ended up with this glorious Naples / NYC slice fusion that delighted my post-dinner pizza joie de vivre. There is plenty for vegetarians at Gjelina Takeaway, including some delights from the main Gjelina menu, other slices, and more. I ordered the turkey sandwich and within 3 minutes of receiving it, the bread got soggy from the inside and half the ingredients spilled out, making a sloppy mess on my plate. It basically became a turkey salad with soggy bread mixed in. The quality was good and fresh, but I will not tolerate poor sandwich bread integrity, especially when it's $18. The more expensive the sandwich, the more irritated I get when it instantly turns into soup upon holding it for a bite. I like Gjelina for other items on the menu. Service is good. Location is nice for Venice. But I'll never order a sandwich here again until they toast the bread or use thicker slices to maintain sandwich firmness.

Now, I took the safe option and ordered a California burger with cheese which certainly filled my culinary needs, but I'll say that the customer service here was beyond exemplary. Given that my partner has a zucchini allergy and upon noticing some in a wrap that wasn't listed, without skipping a beat, they remade her order. I'm not one to rave about lettuce of all things, but their lettuce in their side salads is made with house made ceasar dressing and it really stole the show with every bit of salad having a very satisfying and fresh crunch. Beyond that, Annabelle, our very attentive and friendly server offered us fresh slices of dessert when we ordered some, and I'm almost certain you have to make a pact with a deity to have a cheesecake come out as perfectly airy and smooth as mine did. I can't believe I'm saying this, but the food I came to eat wasn't the main focus. It was the vibe of that place and a cheesecake I'm going to be dreaming about for the next month. Cheers!

The restaurant is also off the new D line Metro station, which we wanted to check out! Service was great, and the servers (owners? There were 2 people working and taking care of us, so we weren't sure.) who took our order were very attentive, friendly and hospitable. When we asked about bottomless mimosas, the woman at the counter told us that they stopped offering them now that they're closed on Sundays, and all of the food isn't prepped as it normally would have been for the weekend. That didn't make sense to us since we were just ordering orange juice and bubbly, but we went ahead purchased individual mimosas. The drinks were almost entirely orange juice and not much champagne. I ordered the beef kabob plate, which came with a side of cucumber/tomato salad and basmati rice. It was okay for $20; it included 5 pieces of steak that were a little gristly. I was surprised that it didn't include tzatziki or any other sides (pita, etc) but the server was kind enough to give me a small hummus side. One of the servers checked on us and brought more water, and he also offered to refill our coffees if we wanted. When my friend went inside to ask for more coffee, the other woman told her that a refill would be charged as a new cup of coffee. We declined, but it was confusing because we thought we were offered refills. Overall, it was OK. I linked the laid-back vibe of the restaurant, 2 outdoor patios, and that there was a free parking lot! I think it would really help to have some music on the patio!
