I take the bus past here on the weekends and sometimes I make a stop here to get a baked good and drink in the morning because everything is so good with that homemade taste! They have some different flavours from the usual which is nice to try. The drinks are also consistently really good. My favourites are the matcha and the red velvet latte. This is a pretty cool coffee shop. They have decorated this like a train station platform and have a huge mural of the old Arbutus Greenway when it had train tracks. Service was friendly. I found the pricing a little high for my taste, but this could be just average for most coffee shops. This place is definitely a great little coffee shop for the neighborhood. They have the most beautiful coffee bar! Everything I ordered today was delicious and the service was super friendly. I usually get let down by breakfast sandwiches but they do it so flavourful here! The staff was really knowledgeable about their coffee and gave really good recommendations. The decor was absolutely stunning my eyes kept wandering back to the simulated sky! Definitely makes me forget about the rain for awhile What I ordered: - oat latte - chai latte - hario v60 drip coffee - breakfast sandwich - butter croissant recommendations: The chai was so aromatic and the flavours were so deep, blending perfectly with the milk. The croissant was absolutely delicious, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and such a lovely butter flavour. Highly recommend! (Pro tip) dip your butter croissant in the last 1/4 of your chai latte SO. GOOD. The booths are right next to the coffee bar and I loved watching the baristas make their coffee. Finally ticked this place off my wish. As far as I know, this is the only place serving syphon coffee in Vancouver. Bonus for the interiors having a Harry Potter kind of vibe. The ceiling also looks like a lit up night sky. As a coffee fan, I really appreciate the huge variety of rotating and seasonal beans available. They also have lots of brewing method. My syphon was lovely and I really enjoyed my cup of coffee. I noticed they also have a loyalty card system for regular customers. Atmosphere is also quite chill with jazz I guess you could try working or studying here, but honestly the seats are not that comfortable. The place is always busy as well so I would say this is more suitable for hanging out with friends. read more

There was an unexpected power outage at UBC last week, so after getting ready in the dark that morning we were looking for a local café that we could enjoy a coffee and quick breakfast at before work. Platform 7 is en route to the office and has good reviews so we took a chance. The café is a great little spot to grab a coffee and treat, plus it's set to look like the interior of an old European train station - very cool! The staff are welcoming and courteous. When we arrived at 7:30AM, we had our pick of tables, though around 8:30AM was clearly rush hour as that's when the place started filling up and folks grabbed their lattes and muffins to go. Note that it does get pretty loud during peak times, not only because of the people but mainly their machines. It's also a long, narrow space with tall ceilings. It can be difficult to hear each other at moments when all of the coffee grinders/steamers and whatnot are all on at the same time but it generally passes quickly. We each had their medium roast coffee and the ham breakfast sandwich. The coffee was excellent, a clean taste with no bitterness. The sandwich was also surprisingly good - I assumed it was just ham, egg and cheese, but there was also some delicious red onion, tomato and avocado tucked in there. Well played, Platform 7! My only wish is that these other toppings were evenly distributed through the sandwich. Would happily come back to try their other coffees and try their baked goods. I usually love this place, but last week I noticed an extremely chatty barista who couldn't stop talking. She wasn't paying attention to customers or the orders, and kept talking about her hair and her social life and herself. She messed up our Americanos, but we didn't notice until we got to the beach. We spent $15 for one cup of just hot water and the other Americanos had only one espresso shot, making them taste very weak. We threw the drinks out. We were very annoyed and ended up going to Kits coffee and got perfect Americanos and attentive service. Management - please ask your staff to focus on the drinks at hand. We love Platform 7 but this was frustrating. read more

Drinks are good, but the coffee shop is more of a social spot than a relaxing and reading/studying spot. The booth seating is fairly comfortable but they have weak backs to them, so that whenever the person sitting behind you leans back, you can feel it too. Lighting is dim and the music is loud, with the baristas occasionally stopping a song to change another one. The interior decor is really cool, though. Love the arching lit-up sky on the ceiling and the train station theme! I'd come back, but probably not to read or study. read more

Visiting from Toronto this week and visited this place twice and the staff were courteous and friendly. Always ready to make a prefect drink. However, we ran into an incident where the owner was outright rude and not appreciative of our business. My daughter had to charge her laptop but the owner unplug her laptop. Mark, the owner, then advised us that the AC plug is not "meant for that usage". It caught us off guard of such unfriendly and rudeness from a place that during the pandemic received government handouts (which we all are tax payer). I let it go since I didn't want to cause a scene. But when my daughter ask to buy something to eat, I told after that I will not spent a penny anymore. There are plenty coffeehouse in town that we can patron. When we left, I approach the owner and told, " I know you don't care but what you said was rude and kind of mean". We enjoyed coming here however will not return to this establishment because of your statement. He asked to hear his side of the story which is " he is preparing for a staff meeting" I apologized for using the outlet to charge my laptop. Didn't think I was committing a crime. He replied,"you didn't do anything wrong and I proceeded to ask " so why you say that this plug is not meant for that usage". He had NO answer and started accusing me of unplugging his fan to charge my laptop. I replied," I did not do such thing". We spend over $60 during the past 3 days and will not recommend this establishment for this reason. Rude owner and can't charge your laptop when he is around. Don't be fool with a smiling face. Was meeting my cousin for coffee and remembered this little place from a meeting several months ago so decided to try it again. We both decided on tea and I thought the presentation was lovely. We both chose peppermint and it was a lovely blend. My only preference would be to include the tea bag or leaves so we could have a hot water refill but I'm going to assume that was intentional as there is a lot of lingering going on in coffee shops these days. Both tables I sat in were dirty. In the current day when we are expected to bus our own tables it would be nice to give the tables a wipe once in a while!! pS the woman who served us was super friendly and nice. Platform7 was a highly recommended coffee shop by our friend. We came in to this little retro coffee shop and were greeted with the amazing aroma of coffee. The oatmeal chocolate chip cookies was fresh and delicious. The cortado was perfect. The espresso shot was done well and not at all expire or burnt. The cortado was smooth, strong, and beautifully decorated with a foam swan. We will be back! We were too full to try the Stumptown coffee shake or affigado. Next time, Platform7! read more

A coffee shop designed as a train station? How cool! I had a chiropractor appointment in the area and was fairly early, so I hopped on Yelp to find a coffee shop to kill some time. Platform 7 was a short walk away from where I was, so off I went! A few things about Platform 7 that I'm a fan of: + Delicious almond milk lattes. I enjoyed this one on ice and in a tall cold glass - perfect for a warm summer day. + Yummy baked goods and sandwiches. I had the turkey and Brie sandwich, which was just light and satisfying enough to ease my appetite. It was also one of the tastiest cafe sandwiches I've had in a while. The cranberry sauce that was in the sandwich was delicious! + Friendly service. It's always so nice to be welcomed into a cafe with a big smile and warm greeting, and that is exactly what I got when I walked into Platform 7. + Strong free wifi. Great place to get some work done if you need to plug in and power out a few hours. I'll be back for more almond milk lattes soon, Platform 7! read more

I loved the service, drinks, staff and atmosphere but it was tragic that neighbors were venting toxic dryer fumes during our patio time. I know the restaurant has no control over people's use of toxic laundry products, but it would be nice if citizens gave up the dryer sheets when venting to public places. Wonderful staff and service. Recommended, but just a plea to the neighborhood that if your dryer vents to a densely populated neighborhood, please keep emissions non-toxic. No Bounce sheets! Thanks! The staff, service and drinks are a five and the atmosphere is wonderful but I was sick for 24 hours from one hour of breathing relentless dryer chemicals and vehicle pollution. I know that's a location and behaviour of others issue, that we need a society that can afford to give up vehicle and dryer emissions, to get green quickly, but it was awful to get sick from sitting outside. We need awareness that car exhaust harms pedestrians, cyclists and people on patios. I understand that there are reasons for people to drive on Broadway and that reducing car usage or getting everything electric will take time, but at least the Bounce sheets can be given up easily. Glad to see Platform 7 open on west side! The interior and decor pretty the same as Hasting store. It's not easy to find parking on Broadway & Vine Street sometime. The Guatemala still my favourite! I like the complex of flavour - plum, dark chocolate, orange and etc... just like champagne flavour. I found pretty warm inside and I had to take off the jacket when I'm line up for ordering. The staffs and baristas were friendly and knowledgeable! They would recommend the brewing method of different kind of coffee Just drop by to get a coffee if I'm in this area next time. read more

Several times I've peered through the windows of this place and been put off by the crowds of people, but this past week I learned that tables still turn over fairly quickly. The heritage architecture makes for a very cozy spot to hunker in for a spell. They serve delicious teas in glass pots (the cream of earl grey is deeply flavorful and lovely) and their cranberry orange muffins are superior--moist, fresh, and rich in a home-baked way. If you're planning on working here, know that the wifi is fickle. I had to keep refreshing it every 5 minutes or so, and still had somewhat limited luck in connecting. I'm not sure whether this was related to the service itself or the large number of people trying to hook into it at the time. No matter, save your computing for elsewhere and just enjoy the ambiance and high quality beverages and snacks. read more

Sooo wanted to love this place. VERY busy Saturday afternoon. Slow counter service. Barista was more interested in her conversation with her friend than acknowledging and answering me when I asked twice who the drink was for. Completely ignored. Tight space, customers just push past you, no regard. One guy was sitting at the back in the prime seating, working on his laptop - the space is big enough for 5-6 people. Latte was "fine" but not very hot. Peanut butter cookie was super salty. Super cute interior, though (even though the counter height is chest level... if you're under 5'5" good luck reaching the counter. Lol). If you can score one of the comfy booths, gold star! Will go back and try on a quiter day. read more

The second iteration of Platform 7, and it's even better. The space is beautiful, very much like the one on Hastings. This one, however, has a corner location so large windows wrap around the place, allowing lots of natural light in. Modeled after a train station, kids will also like it here. In fact, I saw many young families stop in. They also have the sandwiches and the usual pastries (fresh pies!), as well as many methods of brewing for your coffee. They use Stumptown beans, which I like. I got my usual latte and sat at one of the tables near the window. The latte was perfect, not too bitter, and smooth. I really like the space here, the baristas are friendly, and I will definitely be back. Note: Winter hours are 7am-5:30pm. read more

This is probably closer to 4.5/5 but I rounded up because I had a good experience here :) With today's rain, I made my way out to get some work done before the gloom and doom trapped me into taking multiple naps (as is life when it is so dreary here in Vancouver). Read some pretty food reviews about this place and the concept of the train station really caught my eye! Came in around 5pm and it was pretty busy but managed to snag a spot at the window bar. They serve Stumptown Coffee here (from Portland) which was a nice surprise as I've always wanted to try it. I like their menu - easy to read with the different types of beans you can pick. The barista was friendly and very helpful in helping me figure out what method I wanted my coffee to be brewed in. He gave me a pretty comprehensive description of each of the methods (vs at some places they just tell you the name of the method without explaining what that means) AND he was knowledgeable enough to tell me what difference that made in the actual coffee brew itself. Super helpful! After being overwhelmed by all the different methods, he helped me pick a happy medium between the types so that I could try something right in the middle. I opted for the Costa Rica bean, brewed with the Hario V60 (a japanese siphon method I believe). The store itself is super cute! The back portion is very train station like with arched trusses along the ceiling and each truss has sort of been made into a light box so it's very bright. There's booth seating along one wall which has some cute wooden slat benches and GIANT table tops. (Perhaps make some new friends and share one of the booths with a stranger? :P) My one reason for the 4.5 rating would be that while that back half of the store is nice and bright, the front of the store (albeit the half with windows) is soooo dark - there is barely any lighting in that part of the store, and the little lights they have over the window bar really doesn't produce much in terms of brightness. I felt like it was a little awkwardly dark, not just for working but even if you were to meet up with someone - the contrast of light between the front and back of the store is a bit strange. I will definitely be back though! Maybe on a sunnier day when I can take full advantage of the giant windows they have! read more

Fallen in love with it is more like it. I've spoken with the owner over the past year and he's just a rad dude who loves coffee and his creation in the heart of Hastings Sunrise. I got the scoop early there would be a second Platform 7 coming closer to my hood. I was waiting with anticipation. Well yesterday I made the journey to Platform 7, Station No.2 Kits. - What a gorgeous space with cheery lovely baristas. It felt like community and nostalgia. We ordered a latte, a columbian pourover, a veggie sandwich on cranberry bread and a salted choco chip cookie. The latte was smooth and flavourful. The pourover clean to the palate. I came here after a private fitness session to get some coffee. Right now they only have limited seating because of the pandemic and respecting the 50% capacity rule which was fine because I only needed 30 minutes just finish off some paperwork to be done. I ordered a single shot decaf latte with almond milk and artificial sweetener on ice. The customer service was amazing and I really appreciate it that they were able to work with my confusing order. I know I wasn't able to coherently express what it was that I was looking for because it was difficult for me to talk over the loud music and a facemask but I'm so proud and ever so grateful that they were able to work with me. read more

Frankly, I think some of the coffee is pretty bad. Espresso is positively astringent. And they don't know what an actual Spanish cortado is--here (admittedly, like most places in Vancouver) it's just a small latte. And the music is sometimes way too loud (like now: Oct. 26 PM), one of the cases where employees feel the place exists for them and not their clientele. BUT, all that complaining aside and wishing it would aspire to be better, it's still convenient and has a nice neighbourhood vibe. And the small lattes (AKA cortados) are fine if you don't want an actual cortado. And they have some decent drip and pour over. AND their Stumptown (Portland, OR) cold brew is terrific in the heat of summer. I need to try their Japanese siphon. read more

Great coffee, great selection. They offer a few varieties on how you'd like your coffee prepared. I like that have cold brew, nitro, and komboucha on tap. Place was very busy on a Sunday morning, constant line people grabbing their Java. One downside, it's way to hot inside. read more
