a pretty and stylish coffee shop that gets busy around noon. they have sandwiches and baked goods like muffins (i was looking forward to the donuts but was unlucky today). i got an almond croissant and the masala chai tea. the baristas look like chemists at work! they have timers and everything to make sure its the perfect cup of tea, which it was. the almond croissant was beautifully flaky and i had no complaints about the nice almond custard. i took a star off for the smile-less barista who took my order, but otherwise had a pretty good experience here. read more

Horrible experience. I met here for a work meeting, one of my colleagues computer battery was dead so needed an outlet - which was being used by the 'owner'. He told us they were both being used by him and he would be using them all day, and essentially that we should take our business elsewhere if we need a plug ( saying 'we would need to make a strategic decision' on what to do). Worst customer service. If you're the owner - then you should be even more inclined to let a group of clients use one outlet for an hour. Coffee shops are a dime a dozen and you never know who you are declining adequate customer service too. read more

Eh. The girl who rung me up wasn't remotely friendly. I can't stand when I get excited to try a new coffee shop only to be met with some cold, non-welcoming person at the register. Sours the whole experience, especially because I'm an extremely friendly and warm person who greets everyone with a smile and upbeat attitude. Customer service is everything to me (and to most people I know). It really makes or breaks a place for me. In fact, I had a generous tip ready to toss into her tip jar, but when I realized the girl couldn't be bothered to greet me or even look up at me (and just had a general cold attitude), I promptly slid the tip back into my pocket because I no longer reward poor/weak customer service, as it only breeds more entitled, lazy workers who think they don't even have to say 'hello' to the paying customer. Additionally, my latte tasted like it had zero actual coffee in it. Just slightly flavored milk. And all the tables were dirty (littered with coffee cups and crumpled dirty napkins from the past customers, sticky, etc.) despite it not being busy in there. Oh, and when I was waiting for my latté, a customer hopped up from their seat and asked one of the baristas a question and was met with a cold answer and an annoyed look, like they couldn't believe she had the audacity to ask them a question. I get it: you're a 'cool,' hipster coffee person, and acting unfriendly is totally your schtick, but hey: my schtick is returning the favor with a review that mirrors the tone of your 'service.' I urge business owners to hold their employees to higher standards and warn them in the beginning that being anything less than warm and welcoming is literally not DOING THEIR JOB. Your JOB, the thing you gladly accept a paycheck for, is to be kind and welcoming--even if you don't feel like it, or think you're too cool to offer a friendly 'hello.' There's something about a good customer service experience that can make mediocre food and drinks taste better too. read more

We found this coffee shop because we were exploring our new neighbourhood and seeing what there is to offer near our humble abode. The place itself was pretty cool and had a busy but chilled out feel to it. I was happy to see lots of pastry options to choose from and that their donuts came from Cartems (yum!). I got the Vanilla Whiskey Rooibos tea which was absolutely delicious! And the boyfriend got an Americano. I only saw 1 price for the americano so it was for a small - I should have asked if they had a larger size. I'm interested in coming back to try their brew flight. I'm not sure why there's so many bad reviews for experiences, the girls that I dealt with while I was there were all super friendly and accommodating. read more

Siphon coffee here is really bad. It's burnt. I told the barista the first time that it was burnt because she had the water boiling at top for 3 full minutes before even putting any coffee in it. Second time she did it, she let it brew for longer than 3 minutes at the top with coffee. Burned again. I wouldn't go here if you like siphon coffee done properly. They have no training on it. And don't even taste it to identify what they did wrong. read more

You have arrived dear friends... Platform 7 is friggin' IT!!! My search for decent coffee (consistently!) ended the second I found this beautiful shining gem. The energy of it truly draws your soul in, even from way outside the joint. I am the type of person who throws a crap coffee straight in the bin if I can't feel the power. This perfection power seems to translate into everything these guys do - specialty cold brew coffee & Kombucha on tap, beautifully fresh & affordable toasted sambo's (OMG the cranberry bread!), am yet to give the pastries a go (working my way round), I adore the booth-sharing signs, what a wonderful way to create healthy community! -- and the other huge bonus & blessing about this place is the GORGEOUS staff (Jaz is tha man!)! Platform 7 Cafe opened a second location on West Broadway and your first impression will certainly be how its decor perfectly fits in with an classic, old timey King's Cross style train station. Brewing Portland's Stumptown Coffee, Platform 7 has more of a corner shop or neighbourhood coffee shop feel compared to Vancouver's more prevalent brand of hip, minimalist, and more contemporary designs. As for the coffee, they're certainly the real deal and take their java seriously. On the warmer side, their cortado sufficed with a crisp but refreshing espresso flavour and just the right amount of milk added. They also have an impressive selection of cold brews on tap including a nitro infused variety. I was impressed by the delicious Stumptown milkshake (made with ice cream, milk, and two shots of espresso) for its chilling and refreshing taste. Their daily apple pie was also a delectable treat with the right hint of cinnamon flavour. The new Platform 7 is quite the charmer with its magical Platform 9¾ meets Kitsilano neighbourhood feel wrapped in all the pleasantries of a modern cafe. read more

It was a little crowded but the decor was cute. I had an americano and it was very smooth & not too earthy which I dont like. I will stop by again when in the area! read more

Vancouver has great coffee and this is my favorite place. They make an excellent Flat White and the decor is relaxing. What is really cool is the myriad of ways that they make coffee for you. I do wish the had Oat Milk but they do have almond and soy. If you like brewing at home there bag coffee is excellent. read more

This location was great when we moved into the neighbourhood 2 years ago but staff has changed over, resulting in slow and impersonal service. Coffee has also gone downhill - espresso shots seem to be snaller, leaving Americanos lacking taste. Too weak to bother stopping in anymore. read more

We loved this place last time we came so we came for our birthdays and brought our friends (13 of us in total). Half the group found parking immediately and went in and ordered espresso based drinks 25 min before closing. 7 of us got in at 6:40 and were told we were unable to order lattes "even if they wanted us to" because they had already started a cleaning cycle on the machine. To say this is disappointing is an understatement. Who closes the only espresso machine 20 min before closing?? We came from a long way and were very upset. I definitely enjoyed the train station theme, and the busyness reminds me of one as well. I give only 2 stars because my experience was awful but my drink was amazing. So we go in and it's busy and my date ordered a regular cold brew cup of coffee. I on the other hand simply asked the cashier if they made dirty chai lattes. (She looked at me like I was an alien) I had recently been exposed to them and think they are delicious and this is a coffee place after all, surely they could make me one right? Well turns out they can, but not after the guy (Australian, shaggy hair and a prick) made me feel like I was some entitled princess who has to make the most simplest of tasks extremely complicated and hard. (You know the type) So he's taking a piss with me and at first it was funny and I laughed it off but this guy just kept going and going. Asking my date if he has to deal with me all day and how bad he felt for the guy. (This is a FIRST DATE) he literally asked me if I was going to get a salad later that day. the guy makes my drink and it was delicious. I work in the service industry and I've never been treated so awful in my life. Making a joke is one thing, spending 10 minutes heckling a customer for simply coming into a COFFEE SHOP and ordering a CAFFEINATED drink has turned me off your business completely. Which sucks because that was the best dirty chai I've ever had but it wasn't worth the embarrassment. read more

They use Stumptown beans from Portland and have the full range of coffee options including the usual LaMarzocco press, Aeropress, Chemex pour overs, Hario Pour overs and siphons. Tasting flights are an option and for those truly in need of caffeine cold brew is on tap in both flat and the nitrogenated varieties. The coffee is expertly prepared and there is a decent selection of pretty good sandwiches and pastries for those looking for a snack or light meal. read more

I don't usually write reviews online but I hope the owners of Platform 7 read this. The coffee is quite good at Platform 7 on Broadway but the service is the reason why I won't go back. Several times I have been there over the last year and almost every time the service was terrible. Today the person taking orders and processing payment appeared off in space and my breakfast sandwich got burned after I asked her to take it off the grill since it had been on there for so long. I had to ask for a new one but didn't have time to wait for it to be grilled so I just took it home and cooked it myself. The service is slow and a lack of attention to efficiency and customer service. I'm going to go stick with Parallel 49 on 4th ave, it's got consistent good customer service, attention to getting people though the lineup and good coffee. I really wish Platform 7 improves in their choice of staff as it's an awesome location and good coffee. read more

I didn't love my aero press coffee and what could have been a less than stellar experience turned into an amazing latte and then had asked what I was expecting and based on that introduced me to my new favorite process for getting a balanced cup of coffee. We were there today. I have previously enjoyed the place. Today while sitting at the counter, a customer accidentally spilled a mug of hot coffee on my back. I felt the heat on my skin. No burns though. Customer apologized profusely. Staff showed little concern. I was handed towels to dry my shirt and shorts. Not a word was said. No questions re my condition. No offer of a coffee. While I still haven't been to the original location, I was in the area and figured I'd see if it would live up to the hype. All in all the experience was good outside of not being able to pick up filters for my v60. The space looks great and the variety of brew methods available is impressive. You can't really go to awry with stumptown beans although I've still yet to have a top notch stumptown experience outside of Portland. Nice job guys. Good to have another good independent in kits. read more
